- Andrew John (8/5): Excellent Location and informative host. - The location is superb. Close to the Clock Tower, Walking Street and bars. The hosts are friendly and informative. The house is one of four in Chiang Rai over 100 years old and belonged to a Governor of the province whose wife was a Thai Princess ( I think). I was able to communicate with our host through WhatsApp. I couldn’t regulate the shower properly. My wife is pescatarian and has not eaten meat for 40 years. On the first morning we had a rice porridge- despite the host’s best efforts at removing the pork (that was in mine) there was a piece in hers - clearly the same dish with the meat fished out. Not ideal.

- Magda (10/5): - Very big room with private bath (groundfloor) and the most comfortable bed and pillows from Thailand. May and Eki were so helpful. May has a restaurant near the house with very good food. Exceellent traditional breakfast
- Darren (9/5): Great place in Chiang Rai - Loved my stay at Shinopgat's House with the beautiful, fruendly and knowledgeable owner May and staff. Staying in a 100 year old house was very special. Big, bright and airy rooms with a northern Thai breakfast that changes each day. Best breakfast I have had in my Thai holiday. The beds are super comfortable and the terraces and balconies are great to read and relax. Easy walk to the centre of town and for Grab access too. Would definitely stay again next time I visit Chiang Rai. Not so much a dislike but it is an old property so the high ceiling rooms get light when sun comes up. Just bring and eye mask and problem solved for a great night sleep.
- Nicole (8/5): A unique stay in a century house with the nicest staff. - The staff are amazing! The house is lovely and the room had a fridge, ac, fan, big bed with lots of pillows, kettle, hair dryer, robe and slippers, and they even provided a charging station on request. Fantastic lunch restaurant on the premises, and the included breakfast was plentiful. The location was quiet but only a few blocks from the busier areas. Perhaps it was a communication error, but after the first night, the room was only cleaned and replenished with coffee, etc once. I hadn't realized the bathroom was shared, it was fine, but a rather creaky walk across the house late at night. The shower was a bit weak. Thai beds, in my experience, are super firm, and this was no exception. The breakfast is traditional Thai food, which I wasn't fully expecting, however it was actually fresh and delicious, and on the days I had to leave the house early for tours, they graciously made me a take-along breakfast which was also much appreciated.

Die Besitzerin ist äußerst bemüht, gibt Ausflugstipps und organisiert alles rund um den Aufenthalt. Die historische Villa ist wunderschön und sauber. Wir hatten ein sehr geräumiges Zimmer. Aufgrund der nachvollziehbaren Entscheidung die Fenster im historischen Zustand zu belassen, verfügen diese zum Großteil nicht über Glasscheiben und werden nur mit den Fensterläden verschlossen. Im Badezimmer hätte ich bei diesem Preis eine Duschwand (evtl. sogar aus Glas) statt eines Vorhangs erwartet. Auch waren sämtliche Ablagen im Bad aus dünnen Kunststoff, die kaum die Nutzung der Seifenspenders aushalten.

Excellent service and attention provided by the host who designed / provided bespoke Thai breakfasts every morning. A home away from home... Host can also advise on local activities, tours, etc, and also owns the very nice next-door restaurant. Highly recommended! Nil
- Matthew (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Chiang Rai. - The house is beautiful in a nice garden with an interesting history. It has been recently renovated so all of the beds, bedding, towels is new and of high quality - very comfy bed. The location is good to walk into town and also near some interesting temples. The owner is very nice, knowledgeable about the history of the house and was helpful to organise bike rental. The breakfast was also delicious, varied and large portion.

- Dorian (10/5): Tranquil beautiful place to stay, and well located. - The beautiful old house was tranquil and peaceful. The rooms were in a lovely, high ceiling, hardwood floor style. The delightful owner was on site and made a delicious Thai breakfast, and accommodated my special request to eat early as I had a tour.
- Ngoo (10/5): Exceptional - I felt at home right away. It's such a lovely house. The facilities were reminiscent of the past, yet modern at the same time. The toilet was clean and modern. The amenities were of premium body care and relaxation. The breakfast was a nice touch of local foods. They catered to your preference. The traffic was a bit loud during the day. If you're an early bird, that won't be a problem.

The owner always take care the house so everything looking clean and new. Feel comfortable with big place and big room. Around the house has garden so feel fresh. Good breakfast and at the downtown.
