Guest Reviews
- Seradoms (10/5): A warm, welcoming stay with excellent staff, beautiful shared spaces, & an unbeatable location. - Very nice to be greeted by Staff on site (available 24 hours), to receive the keys and have a quick run-through about the facilities. The collective shared space is absolutely stunning and very inviting, with everything from billiards and ping-pong to lounge chairs and study tables. Location is perfect!
- Thomas (4/5): Disappointing -
- Eve (7/5): Great location - but just a student room - The location is excellent, near Old Town attractions and the university. Staff were friendly and polite. The accommodation was clean and secure (24-hour reception, locked doors to all areas). The furniture was appropriate to a student residence. The bed was comfortable and everything worked in the shower room. The room was hot and stuffy on a warm summer day, and the windows cannot be fully opened.
A bigger problem is that the accommodation is advertised as an 'apartment' with a 'self-contained kitchen'. In fact it's one of five en-suite bedrooms that share a kitchen. Taken together those rooms could be said to constitute an apartment. However, at least one of the other bedrooms was occupied.
For the price I paid, a single en-suite bedroom is just fine (though the £40 cleaning fee included in the price seems excessive). But the fact is that the nature of the accommodation is misrepresented on the booking.com website.
- Siyi (10/5): Exceptional - Location, very clean. Great staff, quick response None.
- Maurizio (10/5): Exceptional - I spent two nights at Student Roost – Portsburgh Court in Edinburgh and I truly recommend it. A special thank you goes to Luisa, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming, always open and flexible with all my requests. Her support really made my stay even better.
The atmosphere in the residence is very relaxing, the rooms are extremely quiet and furnished in a minimal yet tasteful way. Everything was very clean, which I greatly appreciated. A special mention for the common room in the basement near the laundry: a warm and cozy space that really makes you feel at home.
Recommended both for short stays, like mine, and for longer periods, especially for students. I’d happily come back.
- Elissa (8/5): Reasonable and great location - The location was close to everything you'd like to go to. The bed was comfortable the shower had great water pressure Room was very hot and stuffy. The booking was difficult because the last question for the online check-in was to show student papers and I didn't have any student papers and I couldn't submit the papers and I didn't know if I was gonna get a confirmation that ultimately I got one. But honestly there was no communication to me telling me now don't worry you are confirmed and you don't need to be a student. Secondly the instructions for returning the key was different in from the written material and so that was confusing. Apparently it's communication from a third-party
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paskaleva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keechee (10/5): Perfect for my short stay - I had a great time staying here for a short night. The place was spotlessly clean and well-organized. Conveniently, toiletries were provided, so I didn’t have to go out.
- Sherry (10/5): My stay was comfortable, convenient, and the perfect balance of city excitement and peaceful living. - I had such a great experience staying at Portsburgh Court in Edinburgh! The location couldn’t have been better — I was able to walk to Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum, and even the train station without any hassle.
The apartment itself was clean, modern, and had everything I needed, from a comfy work desk to a private bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. I also really appreciated the on-site fitness room and the helpful concierge staff who made me feel welcome and safe throughout my stay.
It’s a peaceful, adults-only space, which made it perfect for focusing on my studies while still being right in the heart of the city. I’d definitely recommend it to any student looking for a stylish, convenient place to stay in Edinburgh!
