• Leila (10/5): - Erinomainen sijainti, hyvä aamupala, siistiä. Mikroaaltouuni puuttui, keittiössä oli pieniä muurahaisia.
• Kimmo (8/5): - Hyvä aamiainen. Palvelut hotellissa toimi hyvin vaikka lokakuun lopussa sesongin loppuminen näkyi Plataniaksessa ja moni hotelli ja ravintola oli jo suljettu. Hotellin sijainti on täydellinen rantalomalle. Hyvä ranta ja hotellin omat rantatuolit on hotellin vieressä. Rantakadulta löytyy kaikki tarvittavat kaupat, ravintolat jne. Henkilökunta on todella ystävällistä.

• Emmi (3/5): Pettynyt. - Aamiainen oli ok hyvä, ei kuitenkaan ensiluokkainen niin kuin Bookingissa lukee. Sijainti on loistava jos haluaa majoittua meren rannassa, ravintoloiden ja kauppojen läheisyydessä. Allasalueet ja puutarha olivat viihtyisät. Samalla sijainnilla on kuitenkin muitakin edullisempia ja parempia vaihtoehtoja. Huone oli hirveä, vanha ja likainen. Kylpyhuone ei vastannut lainkaan varatun huoneen kuvausta/kuvia. Saimme vaihdettua huoneen, jossa oli hieman uudempi kylpyhuone joka kyllä sekin oli vanha ja pinttynyt. Uudessa huoneessa vilisi muurahaisia jopa sängyssä vaikka ruoat säilytettiin jääkaapissa ja roskat huolehdittiin pois. Kävin sanomassa asiasta vastaanottoon, mutta eivät ottaneet asiaa tosissaan. Siivousta ei tapahtunut joka päivä vaikka niin on luvattu. Ravintolan työntekijät erittäin tympeitä. En voi suositella enkä menisi uudelleen.

Kiva parveke. Keittiössä ok varustelu. Oltiin sesongin ulkopuolella (lokakuu) ja silti aurinkotuolit varattiin heti aamusta. Niitä oli ehkä suhteellisen vähän verrattuna huonemäärään.

• Oona (8/5): Lovely hotel but mixed feelings - The beach was lovely and the hotel had a cosy atmosphere. Our room was clean and the reception staff were friendly. From the outside the hotel, especially the "main alley" was absolutely stunning and the kids' play area looked fun. Our room had an unfortunate view as we were stuck staring at a wall with graffiti from our "garden view" terrace. The breakfast staff had cleared away all the utensils well befofe the service was finished, so we were left with teaspoons and not much more. Especially the bathroom in our room was quite dated.

• Annalisa (8/5): Very good experience at Caldera Bay! - The staff is very kind, smiley and helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily, and the hotel, including the pools, is spotless. Breakfast options are varied and meet different dietary needs. Several trips to historical sites and the most beautiful beaches in the Western coast of the island can be booked via the hotel. The hotel is literally on the beach, and only 20 min via bus to Chania. Overall, a very good experience at Caldera Bay. Unfortunately the swimming pools are not accessible in the evening. We would have appreciated the possibility to take a bath after dinner as well.

Breakfast had a good assortment of fresh food, including fruits and pastries 🍰 Swimming pool was sparkling clean. Thank you for your hospitality! The comfort of the mattress.
• Vivian (4/5): Really Nice complex but terrible rooms. Would not stay here again unless rooms were upgraded and soon - This was a well located property within an extremely and highly over populated tourist area. We chose this area intentionally however miscalculated how busy it can get. It’s also exploded significantly since we were last here around 12 years ago. The hotel was really well located away from the Main Street hustle and bustle which was nice. Parking on street was quite easy. The grounds were great! The pools exceptional and the staff were incredible hands down The breakfast was extensive and including it in the booking made it value for money. There is an onsite kiosk with everything you could need. It’s also right on the beach I would rate the outdoor complex 5/5 as a result. Very well maintained and very clean The rooms are so outdated it’s not funny. No amount of cleaning can make them look anything than totally basic. Very very unhappy with the quality of room and basic provisions. Soap dispensers located away from where they should be and no supplies refilled unless you asked. Not even any Basic hand soap and shampoo. The room also had these hideous single beds which are relics from the 80’s I’m sure. Room smelled of mould and on looking closer was the bathroom which was disgusting. They gave us another room which was cleaner by far but the rooms are so tired it’s not funny. The furniture looked expensive and probably was in the 80’s! But time to go! Bathrooms time to go. Kitchens time to go! Needs painting! Sheets had sand on them! And hairs so looked like they shut up at end of last tourist season and forgot to change to new sheets for this one This place would have been glorious in its hey day! A solid built complex which needs investing for it to remain relevant in today’s highly competitive world. The staff were very nice and apologetic and did everything they could to assist but their hands are tied when the owners fail to invest in upgrading the basics. For rooms I rate 1/5 and that’s being generous.

The rooms had an odd musty smell. We had to be moved to another room which was slightly better but still needs a lot of work to make it look half decent The furniture looked like it was from the 70’s The shutters didn’t work properly.
• David (8/5): Fabulous holiday altogether. - The staff, especially Stella and the lovely lady on reception, were very kind and helpful, and make us feel very welcome from our arrival right up until we checked out. We had a room upgrade which was amazing and we were most grateful for it. The breakfast was fantastic and the location was excellent. All in all we had a great holiday and we will definitely return. The cleaning staff around the complex were so lovely and did an amazing job keeping our apartment clean and tidy. Thank you 🙏 The furniture in the rooms needs upgraded/replaced. Bed leg was broken on one and double bed wasn’t the greatest. The interiors do let the apartments down, but we still had everything we needed for our holiday.

• Crystal (8/5): Very good - It was great for the price. Good location and good selection at breakfast, shame about the lack of fresh juice and coffee. The pool was lovely and the mini market on site was handy. The rooms were variable but some parts could do with a bit of a touch up. The mattress was a bit hard and the pillows a little lumpy. The toiletries weren't as shown in the photos, but I think it's standard now to only provide soap dispensers attached to the wall, and the hairdryer would've taken a week to dry my hair. I had a studio which was bigger than usual with a separate bedroom. The room was really quiet and had good curtains for blocking out light.

• Ron (9/5): Superb - Caldera Bay is in a great location lin Platanias , on the sandy beach and a short 50 metres walk to the strip . The strip (in Platanias is very busy with loads of bars, shops and restaurants to go at. There were a lot of German holiday makers there which is no issue at all but I thought I should mention it for this review to be accurate . There are regular buses into the city of Chania. We were on a bed and breakfast basis, the breakfast was lovely and is a buffet style with all the usual dishes and more. Overall it is a really good hotel and good value for money . Nothing not to like

• Robert (8/5): Very good - Staff were excellent and really welcoming. Breakfast choice was great. A lovely pool area which opens straight onto the beach. Room was cleaned daily, with clean towels and the cleaning lady was very friendly. No plug socket next to the mirror for my wife's hair straighteners and she found the lighting wasn't great for doing her make-up.
• Petri (8/5): 8/10 - Beautiful hotel area, great breakfast, mini market at the hotel, good location, pools. The over all service at the hotel could be a bit more genuine and warm, but this is a big hotel concept and it shows.
• Katie (7/5): Good - The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The bathroom was mouldy and needed better cleaning. It lacked small touches, like a welcome pack (water, coffee etc upon arrival).

• Elizabeth (9/5): Great location. - Good location, like a little village by the sea near all the shops, restaurants etc had a very nice feeling to it.. Very nice choice of breakfast and quick to clean up. Lovely pools, very clean and a choice of areas to relax. Staff were very helpful. Our Room had a little kitchenette and there was a shop on site. When we were there many people leaving towels on sun beds at the front pool first thing in the morning and no sign of the people. There was a sign not to do this but I feel there should be someone checking on this and removing the towels after a limited time.
• Lynda (10/5): Pleasant trip & easy to get to from Chania with case by bus. Hotel staff brilliant & very pleasant - Nice pool area that overlooks directly onto beach & gorgeous Sea Views. Pool Bar with food & Drinks which also had a great band on few evenings a week. Large selection of foods for Breakfast -Selection of different breads for Toast, Cereals, Variety of fruits, Continental meats & cheeses. Bacon & Eggs, Juices, Tea & Coffee Comfy bed, Large Wardrobe & drawer space. Platanias main street is a 2 minute walk from the hotel Lots of shops, Restaurants & Bars, Buses are very cheap from the square stop to Chania Town from here. I also did a Full Day tour & got picked up from here to the beautiful Elafonissi Beach which was awesome!!!! Hotel needs updating & No lift to upper floors

• Mihaiu (9/5): Superb - The location, hotel and beach all were on point. Breakfast was varied and enough. The room we stayed was bigger than expected and had all the necessary things. Really appreciate the free of charge sunbeads. I only wish there was a way to enforce the rule of not reserving the sunbeads by the people staying at the hotel. Leaving your towel on the sunbead then leaving is just wrong. I know the hotel can't do much and it's common sense by each of us how to use them, but still.
• Hariklia (8/5): Beautiful location and overall great stay. - The property is beautiful. Right on the beach and offers many amenities for relaxing and fun activities for young children. Unfortunately, as are many properties in Crete, it has tiled floors and because my room was on the second level, I slipped on the stairs because the staff had just finished washing the stairs and pathways. This was at 8:30 AM when many clients were going to breakfast. Luckily I didn’t hurt myself but I was sore for a day. They don’t offer bottled water in the rooms like most other hotels.
• Lavinia (10/5): Great stay în Platanias! - The location on the Beach with sand , the calm of the place, miss Ioanna from reception, playground for kids, breakfast is great! The rooms facing the street may be noisy in the morning, light in the bathroom can be stronger, pillows are very hard.

• Gabor (10/5): A perfect place for a holiday. - The location is amazing - close to city center, and directly next to the sea. The breakfast is very good: a wide variety of hot and cold food, some constant things and some things that varied. The rooms were very clean: they clean it every day, and give new bedsheets twice a week. The staff is very friendly and helpful, with a 0/24 reception. The single beds were quite soft in the middle (and they were a bit short for my 180+ teenage kids :), and one of the double beds was very squeaky. But these were only small things, they didn't make our holiday bad. :)
• Teodora (10/5): Great staff, location and amazing outside areas - The location is amazing, bang in the centre of Platanias and literally at the beach. Easy taxi drive from Chania as well. The outside facilities, especially the pools, are amazing, well maintained and super clean, and great for kids. The staff was more than lovely, kind and helpful and the room was very clean. We had a lovely stay.

• Jamie (9/5): Overall had a really good experience, we just wished for simple updates in the bedrooms. - The amenities were very nice, the pools were great and the hotel from the outside was very well kept. Hotel is landscaped very nicely. They had workers making sure others weren’t reserving sun-beds with towels before 10 which was nice. It upset some people, but they should be following the rules and there wouldn’t be an issue. When we got to the hotel we were given a studio apartment when I paid for a one bedroom apartment. They fixed the situation and eventually got us into a one bedroom but it was a little dirty and run down. Rooms could use some basic updates like new shower heads and dressers/ nightstands. Simple adjustments like that would really elevate the room even if it is basic.

Easy distance from Chania airport by car or taxi. No Parking street parking available when spaces or local parking that was quite expensive.

• Anna (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was great. Staff very friendly. The proximity to the beach is excellent. The hotel is clean. Despite what was indicated in the site ("free parking") there is no parking. Instead, you have to park in the very narrow street where it is not easy to find a place.

First room we got had a shower cabin and the bathroom was not so nice but we have requested and we were moved to a nicer room with bathtub after that
• Riad (10/5): Most relaxing vacation ever! - If I could rate 15 stars over 10 I would definitely do it. The place is wonderful, one step from the sea, but all the positive experience is due to all the team working there. They make you feel at home. And the breakfast alone is worth the stay. You get a rich breakfeast to start your day full of energy. A special thanks to Ioanna, Stella, Ella, Babis, Irina, Melop, Elli and to everyone else who we met. Their service is impeccable, everyone is smiling even through all the heat, their response is prompt to all your questions. The option of having two pools is a plus especially when the sea is rough, and access to the sea is easy, there are no roads to cross like in other places, just walk past the pool and find yourself on the sandy beach. Most importantly, when you get there don't, and seriously do not miss the shows. during our stay we had a rock night, a Greek night and two magic shows. The quality of the shows is outstanding. And we are definitely going again. PS: try their Mojito! I really didn't like how time passed so quickly, we want more time! Seriously this is the best place to be, to relax and for everyone to have fun, now I'm going to have to book the place again next year.

• Ene (9/5): The hotel is cosy and comfortable enough. - I liked the very good location, the food was good, the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is well suited to families with children. During the day it is quite noisy. Not suitable for those who want a long peaceful rest in a room during the day.
• Veli-pekka (10/5): Perfect! - Location is very good, hotel is on the beach and in the center of Platanias. Pool areas are excelent. Breakfast is very good. Nothing to complain.
