Guest Reviews
- Jordi (9/5): Eenvoudig maar prima verblijf! - Eenvoudig maar prima verblijf. Alle basisfaciliteiten aanwezig, vriendelijk personeel en accommodatie op wandelafstand van het stadscentrum.
- shtayat (10/5): -
- Abi (8/5): - not available at site i was very comfortable and enjoyed the overall experience
- Ammar (7/5): - The only problem I feel is the Room and bathroom Cleanness
- STEFANO (10/5): -
- Jenna (3/5): - Staff on the reception very friendly, although advertised that last check in is from 8pm but once got there they said that it was open 24 hour. Bed wasn't very comfy, only one small towel provided. Shower plug didn't drain, not very clean in general.
- Daniel (5/5): Good price but I would rather look for alternatives if I go back to Newcastle in the future. - Good Location
Good price
Staff were friendly Uncomfortable bed
Room was small and felt claustrophobic
Got given 1 toilet roll for 3 nights and no bin in my room
- Ibisiki Theophilus (1/5): - I could not find the hotel there was no address. It was a fraud. I want my money back. I cannot find the hotel. There was no address given.
- Mélissa (5/5): Comfortable stay, though less suitable for a conference stay due to no cooking utensils. - Bedding provided. Nice room and kitchen. There was a loo roll but not sure if this was just left over from the last person, since no-one came to restock throughout my stay and I did purchase some just in case they wouldn't, so I did change over to that when the initial loo roll ran out. Blocked shower, which also had a hair in it before first use. Unfortunately, I did not receive check-in information 24 hours prior as notified, but rather through an e-mail sent at around 5 a.m. on the day of check-in, meaning that it was only on that day that I learnt that the late check-in I'd requested due to Conference attendance was not possible. This required a lot of last minute reorganisation which worked out in the end but perhaps, with this in mind, aiming for 48-hour notice would be better from the host. Just a note: No cutlery/cooking utensils set. It's a shame that no packed breakfast is provided like an apple + cereal bar and drink to take to go. Of course, with no restaurant facilities on site, as it's not a hotel but rented out student accommodation, this would have been good. No bin bags provided.

- Jaewon (3/5): -
- Quadri (4/5): Comfort is not easily obtained - Sheets were stained and bedding inadequate.
- Adam (6/5): Meh - Served a purpose Not clean at all. Cheap bed sheets. Very loud music till early hours even with windows closed
- Adam (3/5): Ugh - Vegan pub, subway, Tesco, pharmacy very close to location No bin, only one light, shower smelled and overflowed, dirty kitchen, induction hob dials have markings rubbed off
- John (7/5): -
- Bugra (7/5): - Easy access, good location. Cleaning of the bathroom wasn’t very nice and bed was not really comfortable (too soft).
- Andrew (3/5): For the money, I’d expect a lot more. It was like a budget hostel, but worse in terms of cleanliness - Nice staff and location Filthy in the kitchen and bathroom
- Alia (6/5): It was a good place to stay at. - The hosts were able to put my friends & I together at the same corridor even though we didn’t originally get that. 1. The laundry system.
2. We needed to clean the shared kitchen when we first arrived.
3. We had to carry the heavy garbage all the way down. There should have been someone to do that for us.
- Azam (6/5): - The staff was really clean The shower was clogged and there was no hoover.
- Johannes (7/5): A good alternative for the budget minded traveller - First of all, you should know that the building and rooms are generally intended as student accommodation and are therefore very simply and sparsely furnished. The building is relatively new and well-maintained. All floor units have a fully equipped kitchen with an adjoining living area. On the ground floor, in the lobby, you'll find vending machines and, for example, a pool table. Washing machines are available on the ground floor. Most of the staff are friendly students. There is 24-hour security. The communication and receiving information is efficent. In the area you'll find a supermarket, snack bars, and a pub serving pub food. Also just around the corner is one of the city's most interesting artists run art galleries. During major events in Newcastle, such as the marathon, most hotels are fully booked, and prices rise rapidly. This accommodation offers a good alternative for travelers on a budget. You must check in online in advance, which can sometimes be inconvenient, for example by uploading or scanning a photo. This is mandatory. They mention on the day of arrival check-in must be completed by 6:00 PM at the latest. The Newcastle Metro is a 10-12 minute walk away. The bus service is infrequent.

- Fernando (9/5): Stayed for a long time as I was job hunting. Overall everyone was super helpful and through the break room and gym were - Ensuite bathroom! Had to share with dirty flatmates but not the property’s fault.
Had asked for my kettle to be replaced since it always had pieces in it but they didn’t.
- Garry (4/5): - It was an handy place to stay The bed was uncomfortable
- Alexander (9/5): the stay itself was enjoyable - No breakfast but location not too far from City Centre and very handy for Ouseburn Check-in process is unacceptable. I was contacted on numerous occasions before leaving for Newcastle and was threatened with cancellation. Everything could easily be done on arrival at the venue.
- Oluwaseun (6/5): Value for money but needs more cleaning - Good location and access to amenities. Dirty corridors with bad odour. Understandably, as a mainly student accommodation, there should be constant/daily clean up and disinfectanting of high areas.
- Clare (8/5): Central location, basic low cost place to stay - Great location, value for money Very basic accommodation
- Selena (8/5): Great location, value - Great location, exactly as described Very basic… but expected that!
- Sean (3/5): The Great North absolute shambles!! - Unfortunately nothing, but I really appreciated receiving my refund, thank you to all the team for sorting this out. We were up for the GNR, unfortunately the rooms were absolutely disgusting. Still poo in the toilets, sheets had not been changed from previous guests and were full of pubic hair and seaman!! (This is not a joke)
When we approached the staff on the desk his response was that it would be ok until the morning and what do you expect it’s student accommodation!!
When I popped down 20 minutes later to double-check my car was legally parked the receptionist who told us our rooms would be ok until the morning was asleep in his chair.!!!
3 small rooms were booked at a whopping price of £568 so a higher standard was expected.
- Andrea (6/5): Cozy room, best for a one- or two-day stay - The room was cozy, comfortable, and smelled fresh; I slept very well.
The area has a unique, underground vibe that is quite interesting.
One staff member was very kind and helped me in an emergency by buying breakfast and lunch. The location is a bit far from the city center (about a 25-minute walk), so it’s best suited for those attending a conference or event nearby, like at Newcastle University.
Sometimes I felt a little isolated.
Housekeeping and cleanliness were not available every day.
Towels and hairdryers are not provided and need to be requested or purchased.
The shower is compact, so water can splash outside the tray.
I had a minor issue with my credit card, which was eventually resolved after my return; staff support could have been more proactive.

- Andrew (7/5): -
- Nigel (8/5): - Affordable GNR accommodation
- Mari (4/5): Ok for a student - Bedroom was adequate Absolutely no facilities for one night stay- kettle/toaster/ tea/coffee/ cutlery/plates etc
- Jamie (7/5): Practical, and easy to find. Great location! - Location! Nothing!
- Karl (6/5): -
- Seán (3/5): - Reasonable price. Location okay. Local store convenient. Too basic. Not even a hanger to be add (and I asked directly at desk). No dressing for bedding
- Stewart (6/5): -
- William (6/5): -
- Amy (1/5): Disappointing and misleading advert - NOT clean! - Incredibly dirty - the rooms were clearly not hoover, wiped down, the bedding didn’t smell fresh, the showers had hair/shaving debris, the towels (only a hand towel) was dirty, the carpets were stained, there were even dead bugs on the beg. The bedding didn’t fit the duvet, the beds were very uncomfortable. The shared living spaces were quite frankly disgusting, food waste on the floor, messy sides - everything you’d expect of a uni flat, however we were paying £122 (per room) so would expect more. The staff were friendly and tried to help by moving us to a different room but it got worse. Good central location but noisey as near bars/live music. Completely unclean and unsanitary.
- P.W.M. (8/5): -
- Bamdad (4/5): Basic - Not much Very basic old run down no toiletries no towel no tv
- JEREMY (5/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful.
Shower was good.
Not too far of a walk from Newcastle centre. Bit over priced for what you got.
Only a hand towel, no kettle in the shared kitchen.
Bed was very uncomfortable.
There were long hairs on the back of room chair.
I found a hair in bed.
Noisy pub down the road even with window shut.
Other people staying were very loud banging drawers and cupboards at 4.00am in morning.
- Paul (7/5): The property was basic, however good location for what I needed - Staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful The room could of been cleaned better prior to the stay. Clear evidence of toilet debris, the shower did not clear water quickly so very dirty in the corner and coffee ring marks in the wardrobe
- Austin (7/5): - Location was good, easy check in and check out. Bed was not comfortable, and prices were inflated for the Great North Run.
- Oliver (4/5): If you want cheap accommodation but are happy to compromise on cleanliness, just about acceptable. - Cleanliness. There was a toenail on the carpet in my room. Water not draining from shower. Kitchen was dirty.
- Marlene (6/5): -
- Marlene (6/5): I enjoyed speaking to the friendly staff , once I cleared my room myself I felt happier, unfortunately I rarely used the - Friendly and helpful staff The kitchen was never cleaned and midges all over the place I had to buy cleaning products to get rid of them , I attempted to hoover up but the hoover had a disgusting smell , there was no mop and I had to buy cleaning items to clean cooker top. Also numbers could be put on kitchen cupboard doors from 1 to 6 so everyone knew whose was who’s.
- Fischer (8/5): - Super good and afordable. I enyoyed my stay there. Everything import is not far from the residence. Good bus connections
Down to the river is a 20 min walk and a lively corner with bars, restaurants cafes, clubs is not 5 minutes away.
- Otega (5/5): -
- Conor (1/5): Relative to price easily the worst accommodation I’ve ever had the displeasure of staying in. - Room was bare and dirty. No towel, toilet roll, soap and sheets that had hair and dirt on. Was moved to another room that was hardly any better.
Stayed for the Great North Run and was awoken at 7am by a cleaner that attempted entry to my room. No bag storage allowed either which was a huge inconvenience to runners.
Never been messaged so much by a property (but unsurprisingly nothing asking for a review after…). Had my goodbye check out message before I had even arrived.
In summary, do not stay here unless absolutely (and I mean absolutely) necessary.
- Lamin (5/5): -
- Kathryn (4/5): - Not sure that the sheets had been washed. Kitchen filthy. Door didn’t lock on leaving the room.
- Kirsty (5/5): Basic but passable for one night - The bed was comfy The room was incredibly basic. There was a kettle but no cups or facilities to make any tea or coffee. The room had nothing in it other than a bed and a shelf so was literally just a room but it served its purpose
- Allison (2/5): Very regrettable. - Exceptionally poor place to stay, not sure I’ve ever stayed anywhere as bad. So basic and uncomfortable and miserable.
- Helen (2/5): Uncomfortable and smelly - Available during a busy weekend and not too pricey on the face of it Mattress was wrong way up. I was ‘sleeping’ ( not well) on Springs.
Hairs in shower room on floor
Drains smelled. Shower room smelt awful when I got there
Lights not working in hallway. I had to use my phone torch to find my room
No lamp in the room
- Fair (7/5): -
- Ivor (10/5): Came for the great north run and property was central to Quayside and the Start li e - Great location for Great north run Nothing g it was as expected.
- Steven (8/5): Great value initially, not so great on North run weekend... - Room and bathroom wrre good. Staff were helpgul and friendly especially I think Mark at night with the beard, really nice and hekpful. Kitchen was really dirty, vacuum stank really bad, had to air the room after turning it on.... bed had quite a few springs poking up....
- Hisham (4/5): - Bed very uncomfortable. Beddings not clean with piece of hair. Bathroom not clean and smells bad. Ok location
- Pwaa (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): -
- Suzanne (8/5): -
- Blazej (8/5): Rooms are 7/10, but it gets extra points for communal area/study rooms and staff - Decent student accommodation, overall. I visitted on two occasions during July. It was very quiet as the students were away.
The location is really good - only a short walk from the city centre and close to several restaurants/ Tesco Local for all essentials. Staff were nice (especially Sam!)
The accommodation offered a nice communal area and two study rooms. I was able to work remotely from one of them, which was great. There is a laundromat, which is operated using an app on your mobile.
The rooms are OK - you get what you pay for. There's a large desk, bed and wardrobe.
Wi-fi worked well in the room and the communal areas. The matress was really uncomfortable (you could feel the springs).
The room/bathroom could have been cleaner.
Guests are expected to buy their own cleaning materials, soap, bin bags, etc.
The shared kitchen was relatively clean (because pretty much no-one was using it in July), but I can imagine it quickly becoming filthy since the guests are responsible for cleaning it themselves.
No hangers in the room.
- Chau (3/5): - Got check in at extremely dirty room, female hair all over the tower, on the wall so many dirt, and on the floor is full of crunch food. Tell them to changing the room, nothing solve out, have to stay in dirty room 1 night, next day staff sài its just hair on the floor we ask somebody to clean for you. So if you book a hotel, room is dirty do you just wait it to be clean? Raise a complain on booking.com they said rest assure we waiting for feedback to solve that out, never heard back for one week!!!!! Some of the staff is great and feel welcome the rest omgggggg
- Marian ThuruL (8/5): -
- Richard (8/5): -
- Mohammad (8/5): -
- Hisham (10/5): -
- Brian (8/5): -
- Marc (5/5): - The location is fine, the price is a "you get what you pay for" price No WiFi. Taps were so rusted and full of limescale I couldn't change the temperature of the shower. Shower was filthy. Only 1 small hand towel, no bath towel. Thin pillows. Don't book this unless you have no other choice
- Josh (7/5): -
- Julian (8/5): Just what I needed for a quick overnight - Very convenient and good value Needs a bin in the room
- Samantha (5/5): Student accommodation therefore basic but bed terribly uncomfortable - Very helpful staff at reception Bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and there was no light in the room apart from the main central light.
- vijay (9/5): -
- Simone (10/5): -
- Mei Ting (7/5): -
- Gazza5976 (7/5): - No
- Ebony (7/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Great location £5 in taxi to town only available during summer holidays as student lets very secure 2; hr security very - Easy access excellent front desk You need to take toiletries and towel ( unfortunately doesn’t mention pre book ) managed to get towel so
All was good
- josephine (7/5): - Staff very helpful. Many thanks. Walking distance to the river and Quay where lots of bars, cafes and the Baltic gallery are located. Kitchen not cleaned in the 3 days I stayed and few dishes/utensils/crockery available. No recycling in the kitchen
- Stephenson (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good but could do better - It was really nice and the friendly staff were helpful The fact that I had to change rooms because my original room which had a blocked shower.
- Elizabeth (8/5): It suited my purpose in visiting Newcastle - The location worked well for me. I walked from the train station end from the property to the Secret Garden and Live Theatre for a wedding. Facilities for making tea or coffee in the room or a hot drink vending machine in the lobby
- Rita (8/5): - the rooms we stayed in were the ones usually accomodating university students so no big surprise in finding them somehow spartan - but there was everything we needed for the short stay we had planned and each of us had their own space (and bathroom!!)
the lady at the reception was welcoming and helpful
great value for money in our opinion the eternal issue with the windows that cannot be opened more than a few inches "for safety reasons"! combined with unusually high temperatures they caused some discomfort, but not much can be done I guess... maybe have some (large) fans available at the reception?
- Fiona (8/5): Basic accommodation but good for a short stay. - Basic student accommodation but everything was clean and it was good value. A fan in the room would be welcome as it was very warm in the room.
- Mauro (7/5): Decent plaxe - The location is decent and not too far from the city. Everything is quite reachable by foot in Newcastle. There is a tesco supermarket really close to the place. The staff is pretty nice. The place is safe!
For the cheap price it was a decent stay. The room seems to lack a bit of love! Just a bare room with no amenities. They could include some hand soap, more toilet paper, a toilet brush and maybe some hangers or extra decor in the room.
When I arrived they had only given me 1 toilet paper roll and 1 small towel..had to ask for another towel and toilet paper. The room was also slightly dirty. The mattress isnt great and the bedding is a bit old.
- Wood (5/5): Amazing but make sure to triple check your stay - Very secure and staff was amazing Not very clean , shower drain was backed up my window wouldn’t close very noisy
- Rysava (8/5): Excellent for summer stay for non students - The Bryson Court is situated at Students Village, with many students accommodation available near by. It’s relatively brand new region with students living, being quite close to Northumberland University. It has supermarket available near by, and it’s approximately half an hour away from City center, where University of NewCastle could be found. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Each room has private bathroom, double bed, desk with a chair and a wardrobe. I was not renting a room as a student, but only as a short summer stay. The rooms surprisingly match the promotional photos, so you know what to expect. The sofas at the kitchen are comfortable but ripped too much, probably is the only interior complaints with a few here there distractions. The laundry is a separate pay, so if you often washer, add up laundry as additional expenses, but I guess it’s at every Student Housing at NewCastle.

- ESSA (9/5): - I had a pleasant stay at the Modern Ensuite Room in Central Newcastle. The location was excellent — close to shops, restaurants, and public transport. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, and the ensuite bathroom was a great bonus. One thing to note is that there was no air conditioning in the room, which might be uncomfortable during warmer days. However, overall, I still enjoyed my stay and would consider returning on my next visit to Newcastle.
- Maciej (2/5): I do not recommend. Low price doesn’t justify the cons. - Staff at the actual location were helpful My booking was only confirmed only 3h before arrival despite me sending all requested personal details 1 month in advance. Despite what I was told initially in the email, I received no check in information. I spent 3h day before on my arrival on calls and trying to figure out my booking status, which caused me significant stress and anxiety. Also, the share kitchen had pile of rubbish stacked for days which caused horrid odour. In the room I found hair in several places and the linen had unpleasant smell (I suspect it was not properly dried after laundry).
- Barbara (4/5): Would have been 4/5 stars but due to springy bed and noisy students/bar outside, I couldn't sleep3/5 - Kitchen facility; shower, desk, TV Bed was springy - had to fold half of duvet to cushion the bed so I can sleep on top of it.
Noisy nearby student bar was heard if window was left open. As it was hot 24C for the two nights I was booked, I had to close the window, which obviously was not ideal and I had to sleep in a warm, stuffy room.
Didn't like it was 20 minute walk into the city.
