- Astrid (9/5): gerne wieder - Das Zimmer ist hochwertig japanisch ausgestattet mit Tatamimatten sehr geräumig mit einer Wohnecke und bequemem Sofa. Das Bad modern und groß und geschmackvoll gestaltet. Das Restaurant bietet frische und leckere Küche. Einziger Wehmutstropfen es lässt sich kein Fenster öffnen- schade für Frischluftfans.
- Paul (10/5): A must book if you're in Kyoto - I didn't do too much research on Yugen Kyoto Shijo when I booked it and was pleasantly surprised at the entire hotel experience. The staff was very courteous and helpful, the food was great, the room was fantastic and the facilities were plentiful. If you're looking for a fantastic hotel that's both walkable to multiple areas around it and has it's own public bath, I highly suggest you book Yugen. P.S.: My partner had lost her black purse with her wallet/keys in a taxi ride to the hotel. We tried calling the taxi company, but due to our limited knowledge of Japanese, we were struggling to do anything. We asked the hotel staff for help and they were tremendous at taking care of everything. They called the tax company, eventually received our bag from the driver and handed it to us. My partner was extremely stressed the entire time without her bag and she was very relieved when she received it. I'm sure it happens often that people lose their belongings, but I wanted to give a huge thanks to the entire staff at Yugen and we're extremely grateful. If ever there's anything I can do to repay the favor, please contact me. One quick note: we booked the room with a sauna and noticed the heat would leak into the main room. There's one very simple trick to prevent this, and it was to close the glass door between the bath/sauna and the shower area. That one glass door is more than enough to block all the heat from going into the main room/bedroom and the whole room becomes much more enjoyable. As there's a drain that smells a little next to the massive bath, closing the door also completely gets rid of it.

- fipvie (10/5): Außergewöhnlicher Aufenthalt mit tollem Spa, Top-Frühstück und sehr freundlichem Personal! - Das Spa ist voll ausgestattet und bietet eine richtig gute Möglichkeit zum Entspannen nach einem Sightseeing-Tag. Das Frühstück war hervorragend – wahlweise westlich oder als japanisches Bento – und das Personal immer sehr zuvorkommend. Die Betten sind extrem bequem und auch wenn das Gym – wie in Japan üblich – nur leichtere Gewichte bietet, ist es in Kombination mit den Cardio-Geräten völlig ausreichend für ein Workout.

Japanese or Western style breakfast offered. We had the Western style breakfast that had a good variety of food options. Lunch and dinner is also available in the on-site restaurant. Staff were always polite and helpful. Walking distance to many attractions and local transport. Food allergens are noted on breakfast foods but there are no specific foods for people with dietary restrictions. No gluten free or lactose free options.

- a7a193c487de737e9eecae71c53390e8 (10/5): Una vera esperienza giapponese - Hotel molto accogliente, di recente costruzione, in puro stile giapponese, pulitissimo, letti molto comodi, stanze spaziose, gran gusto e grande raffinatezza in ogni dettaglio, bellissimi pigiami da indossare la notte, uno staff super accogliente, disponibile, anche in caso di necessità. Ottima la colazione al buffet, sia giapponese sia continentale, abbiamo anche pranzato in hotel e il ristorante è eccellente. Grazie mille per averci ospitato a tutto lo staff, eravamo io e mia sorella, il miglior albergo in Giappone, in un’ottima posizione nel centro della bellissima Kyoto, consigliatissimo! Non c’è niente che non mi sia piaciuto, tutto eccellente.

Convenient location surrounded by spots to get a bite or drink. Loved the traditional yet modern aesthetic. The staff was also very kind and check-in was easy. Breakfast was really tasty but could have some more variety in the buffet (matcha would be very welcome). Tiny note but a small bench near the door in the rooms would be much appreciated for taking shoes off.

There was no room for luggage on the first floor and the bed took up the entire bedroom so it was impossible for 2 people to move around. Getting to the bathroom required a stepping stone. The stairs to the second floor were very steep and the room was not very comfortable. We switched hotels after the first night ( it was worth it even with losing $2000 per room - $4000 total )

La salle de bain est spacieuse et bien disposée. L’hôtel est bien situé, central ce permet d’organiser ses visites efficacement. Aucune fausse note. À recommander 10/10.

The facilities were great, powerful shower and a phenomenal hot bath with a decent gym. The room itself was great, however, there are no windows for you to see out of, they were all frosted over in our room and also, my wife and I found the room very ‘stuffy’. Our noses were blocked and the air con made it worse. This could just be a me issue.

- Sophie (9/5): So good I want to keep it a secret - Everything. The location was amazing, downtown so we walked everywhere. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The room was amazing, superbly comfortable beds, sumptuous bedding, a great room to relax in after a long day sightseeing, and an amazing bathroom. Good coffee machine too. Amazing pyjamas and slippers provided and soft towels. The breakfast was delicious, the à la carte dishes came out of the kitchen quickly even when it was super busy, and always good quality. My son said perhaps some pancakes would have been a good addition for kids 😅 The spa!!!!! I cannot recommend this enough. Incredible space to rejuvenate tired muscles after a long day. I was there minimum twice a day, in the morning after my workout and in the evening after a long day walking. Just stunning. The gym! Lovely little space for working out, if you’re so inclined. Nothing! If I was to be super picky: 1. bigger coffee cups 🤣 at breakfast 2. Heavier dumbbells and/or kettlebells in the gym as the highest weight was 10KG.

Dans une rue calme mais très proche de commerce, du marché et du quartier de Poncho. bien connecté avec les gares. Tout étais très bien, peut-être ajouter deux chaises dans la chambre.
