Guest Reviews
- John (8/5): Cheap but cheerful - Proximity to airport primarily. Nothing.
- Gabrielle (7/5): Appearances can be deceiving - very nice inside! Please paint the outside of the hotel, hideous! - Room and hotel was very clean and nicely styled. The bed was very comfy and the bath had lots of hot water. The temperature was lovely and warm too. Very friendly and helpful reception staff member. -The dinner menu was very limited so we went elsewhere.
-There was too much noise from workmen early in the morning - one way to get your guests to check out early (8/8.30am). I was finally looking forward to a lie in. There was also a party of people running about, talking very loudly and slamming doors from about 11pm to 2am.
-The hotel looks very awful from the outside, it's nice and clean but it would look so much more attractive to future guests if the whole of the outside had a paint job, I almost didnt book it based on its external appearance as photos inside can often be misleading.
- I went for a walk along the river and came across a large number of rats when I passed the bins (understandable as you are by the river but it might be worth putting something up to block out the bins (wooden panelling perhaps) to prevent other guests from witnessing them, as others made comments about it putting them off wanting to get their dinner there.. Its hard to get rid of rats so close to the river..
- Nowhere to get coffee or tea downstairs to lounge about and meet friends
- Lounge area not the most welcoming
- adam (6/5): -
- vicki (9/5): Great value stay in spotless hotel near Glasgow with easy escape to the Highlands - staff very pleasant. Spotless. Buffet could have had more choice at dinner. breakfast was excellent
- Alex (8/5): - Good location, friendly staff and nice clean, warm room at a good rate.
- Daniel (6/5): - Ok accommodation close to the airport, quiet Hard to get an u er to the location, bar not open the full day, faulty shower
- تركيا بعيون عربية (7/5): Good for Transit Travellers - Good location No serviceable fitness or spa, the hotel need refurbishment
- Mirmo Bayuaji (8/5): Thank you - Friendly and kindness of the staff, Ms.Payal and receptionist team. Thank you very much for your kind service The restaurant only served buffet when big group tour come, hotel should think about otber hotel guest that staying there during that time maybe other guest want normal restaurant service not a buffet.
- Maria (6/5): - view no tissue, no quilt for one person, no ref, no spoon or knife.
nothing...
no water.
it is not 4stars hotel
- Shona (8/5): -
- Andrew (5/5): Hotel to be missed not for business travelers - Old hotel being refurbished, rooms good size clean, bar area clean, reception clean, dining area clean
Suitable for bus tours only, not a business traveller The hotel does not offer any food from the bar menu, there is a menu, but not available if you can work that out!
there is a buffet £25 option that serves basic quality food, each night on a first come first serve basis and it runs out fast, you have too wait for everything,
Queing with 100+ people to get served, there are no tables for single business travelers, you may end up sat with other travellers.
Hotel General Manager needs to step up at this hotel,
the staff who are under staffed, all on work permits, working very hard to please, customers are doing there best!
- begg (5/5): Lit confortable, personel acceuillant.

- Lai (8/5): - The room was perfect, the location was quiet (we drove there) since it's far from the city centre. There wasn't anyone in the reception at the time of checking out, which was weird. I waited like 15 minutes until I couldn't wait anymore, so I had to go find someone at the restaurant. A mini-fridge in the room could be useful to have cool water at hand.
- Chris (7/5): -
- Bruno (6/5): -
- MAITLAND (3/5): Pretty poor - Not much Shower was rubbish. Booked alacart prior to arrival to be told only an Indian buffet was available. After complaining was offered alacart but only a fraction on the menu was available. The whole place needs attention.
- Jenny (9/5): - Sam the Receptionist, the rooms were spacious and clean and staff were friendly and helpful Outside and limited food choices
- Dipesh (10/5): -
- Alurie (8/5): -
- Stephanie (7/5): -
- Simon (8/5): exceptional value for money. I would definitely revisit - The quality of the food was perfectly adequate but for the price exceptional value for money. The room and bed were both excellent, very comfortable Providing tea or coffee with the evening meal and providing pots for tea to have with breakfast. The cooked breakfast could also have been hotter, other than that, no issues.
- Naila (8/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): -
- STEPHEN (9/5): I quite place to relax and enjoy the countryside. The Receptionist Ms Payal, very professional and welcoming. - The room was spacious and overlooking to the river and bridge, Was some building work going on.. wanted to have a nap in the afternoon.
- graeme (3/5): Hotel manager is a pest with the contractors - Grubby and unsafe hotel - TBH there not a great deal i can put in this section. I feel maybe in the day the hotel was great however not as it is. All i seen during the stay was three members of staff. I waited 20 minutes to check in as the manager and his assistance was pestering the contractors staying for there managers details so they could email them direct instead of them using booking.com. During the evening i sat in the bar where contractors was telling me the manager was a pest. But guess what, i had to wait nearly 15 minutes to be served at the bar. The contractors were saying they had the same problem during there stay. The food was ok but as the lady who served me also cooked it you can imaging the time it took, and during the time she was cooking, other people got sick of waiting at the bar and left.
Breakfast was terrible. only choice was a cooked breakfast and toast. No cerial or pastries. Again waited 25 min for the breakfast as being the only one there.
I booked an executive king room and found that the two single beds pushed together and not even secured to each other therefore i was falling through. The hotel is very loud as the noise echos along the corridors due to there being no soft furniture or floor coverings.
Room dated with old furniture simply painted.
The was an electric radiator in th room with no feet and just balancing on the floor. Really heavy and would cause a lot of injury to an adult never mind a child. Not very safety friendly.
Outside was a maintenance worker sitting on top of a ladder working on a roof. seriously breach of health & safety, yet fully on show in front of the managers office and checkin. If this company allows the employees to take such unprofessional unsafe tasks then i doubt they have any concerns with customers, evident by the radiator.
No phones in the bedrooms, no room service therefore you must sit in the small bar which is full of working contractors so may be a bit intimidating for families and single ladies.
- Gordon (5/5): -
- William (3/5): Disappointing. - Staff were very friendly. Cleanliness of the rooms as you can see by the photos taken of the mattress. No mattress protectors or pillow protectors.
The amount of rubbish out the back of the hotel and the amount of rats it had!
Location of hotel.
Ex Asylum Seeker hotel.
Spa not working.
Unable to use the restaurant in the evening.
Bar didn’t open until 5pm
- Dave (8/5): Comfortable. Food good. Service good. - Breakfast good. Could have been slightly warmer Food hotplate cupboards need to be turned higher.
- Steven (7/5): Decent at a reasonable price - Very handy for my needs No complaints
- Hester Kuhon (10/5): We look forward to come and stay at Muthu Glasgow River Hotel again. - This is the second time we stayed at the Muthu Glasgow River Hotel. The staff are exceptionally helpful and they go out of their way to make our stay comfortable, nothing was too much for them. Dinner in the restaurant was very pleasant, the chef did tweak the menu for us. The next day we had room service when we couldn't come down for dinner. The bed was great, so comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. The room cleaning person was very courteous. Our special thanks to the manager James, the receptionist Sonam, and the restaurant waitress Lorrie, they were so kind. Nothing
- David (8/5): Stay and fly closer to Glasgow airport than most - Clean friendly Nothing
- Venance Gabriel (8/5): -
- Jim (6/5): Ok … but - The staff
The food Seems they are in process of renewing the place
Tv didn’t work in room and maintenance couldn’t fix it
Advertised spa and gym.. but does not have it
Cold in the public places and cooked breakfast was cold
- Cherry (2/5): Awful - We planned to stay in Erskine and it was in Erskine. Unfortunately it was a real let down. I paid for a suite but it didn’t deliver. The bar wasn’t open when we got there. There wasn’t any towels in our room, we had to ask twice. The king sized bed had a duvet for a double and was 2x singles shoved together; the shower was horrific. Either blasted too hot or too cold, it wasn’t practical. The heat from the shower set off the fire alarm and when securely arrived they were accusational and unhelpful.
Would not recommend.
- Dumela (10/5): - All is well
- Julie (10/5): -
- Louise (4/5): Disappointed and don’t bother with breakfast. - Nice decor and friendly staff Stain on mattress that could be seen through sheet. Breakfast was inedible….cold and bacon was brick hard. Coffee was lukewarm and had to repeatedly ask for cups. Baked beans were congealed and disgusting.
- Connie (6/5): - Great staff and service. They allowed me to check in early which I greatly appreciated ahead of a wedding There was no hot water!
- Kirsty (6/5): Great value for money in a budget hotel - Clean and tidy lobby. Nice reception but a bit cold. Comfortable beds. Clean towels (new). Plenty of plugs in the room. Clean bathroom. Good shower. Nice soap. Parking included in cost. Good value for money. Quiet location. Good quality tea and coffee options in room. When we checked in about 8.15pm we asked if we could still get food and was told the kitchen is open until 10pm and the bar until 11pm. Went to restaurant about 8.55pm to be told it closed at 8.45pm. Parts of hotel have been refurbished but they have kept some old fixtures and fittings like the doors and the look dated and dirty. Marks on walls, headboard and curtains. Could do with a good clean in areas.
- Johannes (8/5): - Friendly lady at the desk. Comfortable room and bed, for a quiet and peaceful night rest. Good breakfast!
- Mihaela (8/5): We stayed only for one night but all together was good and will definitely go back. - Nice, big, comfortable beds Water pressure was very low and quite cold.
- Göran Hellström (5/5): - Bra övernattningsställe, bra läge Det var svinkallt i restaurangen och receptionen.
- geoff (9/5): - Only complaint was the breakfast it was cold, there was no coffee and no fried eggs no toast
- Simon (10/5): Nice place to stay - Sam was a very helpful and friendly staff. She helped me with upgrading my room for free. The room was big and clean, with brilliant view.
- alex (10/5): Spotlessly clean - We liked how clean and spotless it was also it's location peaceful and quiet the girl at the reception the following day of our stay I can't remember her name I think it was Sam she was lovely polite smiley type of person what a lovely lady wish she was there on the we Arrived keep up the Good Work Sam 👍👍 your Attitude would actually make your guests come back Also the young man in the breakfast Area who went out of his way to warm me beans because the ones in the buffet dried out thank you to him I can't remember his name but he knows who he is well done to him he was very kind and thoughtful ❤️ The welcome we got on the day we arrived just was here's your key 6th floor NO Explanation about where Breakfast was just was told the times Nothing like we have a spa But it's closed at the moment for refurbishment. But the lady Sam made up for all that the next day she seemed more knowledgeable then the young man
We was in room 614 but the heated towel rail wasn't working also we could of done with a hook on bathroom door to hang Yr clothes on there was nowhere to hang Yr clothes tv wasn't working or maybe my husband just couldn't get it to work it could of done with atleast one chair to sit on in room or two had to sit on bed always apart from that the room was spotlessly cleaned my favourite thing was how warm the room was when we arrived was so cosy 👍❤️ I would 100% come back
- Debadyuti (10/5): -
- Bzorp (6/5): Fine for one night's sleep, no more - - the view from the top floor over the Erskine bridge is amazing
- the bed was very comfy
- it was warm (if a little too warm, but I opened the window and turned the heater off)
- the car park is big
- it's quiet
- good road access - it's just a bit of an odd hotel. It's being refurbished but I don't really understand or tbh, particularly like the theme of decor they are going for. It's incredibly tacky inside, with velvet bright coloured chairs, fake marble, a wall with water running through it , fake crystal chandeliers - but all this is quite run down. The water wall is when you walk into the lobby in reception and it's got a brown stain at the top of it. All the doors are painted gold but the glass in the centre of them is covered in fingerprints. Outside there are open boxes of floor tiles just on display - they're not even attempting to store them.
- following on from the above, for my room:
- everything in my room was dusty.
- Some parts of the room were painted gold but all the gold was peeling and they'd just painted straight on plaster.
- The bedside tables have had glass tops fitted to them but they don't fit and you can see the double sided sticky pads.
- The mirror was wonky.
- The curtains were put on the runner wrong so if you tried to close them, they didn't stay at the sides and instead all ran into the middle - so you couldn't block out sunrise.
- there were no side table lamps - your only option is immensely bright top lights
- my bedding was clean but the duvet was ripped down the side, yet a cleaner had still made the decision that morning to put it on, thinking it's acceptable for a paying customer. I've never seen this in a hotel ever before, or even someone's home. Why keep a ripped duvet cover ? Just bin it and get a new one.
- I was v concerned that breakfast is advertised wrong online and the times are incorrect. I booked this room believing breakfast was available from 7am all week, but on weekends it's actually 8am-10am, according to the in-room book. This is too late when you have to be places in the morning. As a result I couldn't go and had to miss it but had paid for it.
- Joshua (10/5): -
- Chinemasa (9/5): -
- Lorna (7/5): - Good value for money. Clean inside Grounds were very messy with overflowinh bins and lots of litter
- Paul (9/5): Hidden Gem with a view - Receptionist was amazing, so professional and welcoming, the hotel itself is a hidden gem with a fantastic view There was no downside to my stay the outside looks dated but wow to staff and interior
- Nicky (1/5): - Friendly staff lovely comfy bed place was under renovation at time so no swimming pool.or spa so was disappointed as thats why we booked it Couldn't sleep for a couple arguing and fighting in room across the landing smashing things same on the next night
- James (9/5): - Room was clean and tidy and a good view The bar not open till 5
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The room was large enough for both of you to walk round. Bed was comfortable. There was no hot water on 2 of the 3 days on the morning.
- Jade (10/5): - Lovely hotel, very friendly super helpful our car broke down and we was due to fly the next day so the staff ( Azya) especially helped us and kept the car safe. Booked us a reliable taxi even text us confirming instantly. Beds are the most comfortable stayed in! Super clean and stunning close to airport and Glasgow will definitely be staying again Nothing was all amazing
- David (7/5): Met requirements - Location was good, staff really friendly, price okay. Gym was closed, not clear on booking.
- Elizabeth (9/5): -
- joe (9/5): Great stay would definitely stay again.staff member penal was very friendly and communicative. Even - Everything clean and tidy beds comfy loved the breakfast good variety. Husband would have liked more tea bags(tea addict). Two family went for a drink later on .no bar staff had to go to reception staff member was not sure what to do.
- Joanna (6/5): Comfortable , cold but the wrong room provided although it was made up to us with a 50% off stay the next time so we wil - Looks nice inside Wrong room provided
- Julian (7/5): Good value stop-over - Excellent location for Glasgow Airport and as a stop over on the way to the Highlands. Good value for money. Property exhibits signs of wear, although big efforts are being made with refurbishment.
- White (4/5): Not what I expect from UK hotel - Location for continuation to highlands
Staff friendly
Bed comfortable Not sound proofed
Very noisy
Shower didn’t work
Bathrooms require major refurbs
Doors gaps all around
Bedroom window smashed
Draughty
Didn’t want to take my shoes off
- Si (7/5): -
- Fiona (8/5): - The staff were lovely and friendly although over worked. Resturant closed and we werent notified til we arrived.
- Katarzyna (5/5): - Comfortable bed, clean and warm room. Horrible disgusting old, stained bath to the point that wasn’t even able to use it.Annoying noise from the lift door opening and closing during night.
- Sarah (5/5): Cheap and cheerful - but good was an absolute no no! - Views Food was inedible, asked for a refund, they agreed...we never received the refund.
Bathroom shower head was dripping, maintenance man came out to sort it but we couldn't have a shower anyway as the room as not clean, at all.
The pool was derelict which is a shame as this would have made a massive difference and there was LOTS of building work happening which was messy and noisey but they did their best for this not to affect guests.
Views were lovely. If cheap and cheerful if your thing, then this would pass but if youre looking for a nice quiet weekend away with lovely food, avoid!
- MattWilson33 (5/5): -
- Maria (8/5): If back in the area will return to stay, when fully refurbed this could be a great hotel - Plenty of parking, central to where we wanted to be, easy to find, great walks along the river. Staff were very accommodating. Still looks a bit ‘tired’ but is getting refurbed to a good standard. Breakfast could be improved, again though, early days on the refurb and not yet a full menu available. But if the menu states ‘well done bacon’ and you specifically ask for well done bacon, it’s not difficult to do - especially when there’s hardly anyone in the dining area
- Patrick (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and intend to return in the future. - The receptionist, Azra, was very pleasant and helpful. The staff in dining room and kitchen were extremely considerate and helpful in accommodating my dairy allergy at breakfast time. The à la carte menu was not available, there was a dinner buffet menu which is not always suitable for a person with allergies.
- Margaret (9/5): Sam, receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. -
- Meldrumb (10/5): - Must admit first impressions of the outside of building didn't look good but once inside it was a big wow There was nothing I didn't like would definitely stay there again
- Sharon (7/5): Fair price, nice place - Good location, lovely decor, huge bed Some minor touches needed attention but well worth the money
- Etim (8/5): OK, I would recommend - Internal decoration, spacious, friendly staff (Sonna), comfort No evening meal, short staff apparently!
- Yanjun (10/5): -
- TGM (9/5): Great stay - The hotel had Tiled floors, marble everywhere. Hotel looks like it will be more suited to the Mediterranean than located in Scotland so felt very at easy, comfortable and relaxed. Good breakfast, great riverside view. Huge car park. They were doing up the swimming pool during our stay so looking forward to seeing the end result. Receptionist Sam was very polite, helpful and friendly. Hard to think of anything, really nice hotel, a pleasant stay overall.
- James (8/5): Stayed overnight before flying onto holiday, was stress free and relaxing - Parking for airport was great .Hotel was clean and food in restaurant / bar was delicious, .
- Ranjit (10/5): - Very warm welcome from front desk especially Payal and Sonam, I think. Explained everything on the property and very helpful for first timer like me.
- steven (7/5): Good stay - View and room was nice The beds where 2 singles made into a double which separates when asleep and feel the gap
- Steven (1/5): Wouldn’t go back for free - Free parking The place looks like it was shut down from the outside. Moved room 3 times with no help from staff, each time returning to the reception and they just give me a new room and card and let me keep all 3 rooms! 1st room single bed, ordered double, 2nd room no WiFi, retuned to reception twice and still not solved so moved to the final 3rd room. Shower had to be held by hand to use! Only positive was parking was free and bed was comfy
- Jedrzejczak (9/5): - Bardzo miła obsługa w restauracji, świeże i smaczne śniadanie.
- andrew (10/5): - Whole experiance Nothing all good
- Paul (6/5): -
- Laura (5/5): could have been better had the room been looked over before arrival - The staff were friendly & welcoming i payed for a executive double room but when i arrived back from a night out i realised that the bed was 2 beds pushed together & wen lay in they came apart easily. I spoke to the staff about this who did try to put the beds back together and then offered a swap of the room but as it was almost midnight we did not want the upheaval of moving at that time of night.
I feel this should have been dealt with before we arrived to ensure we got the room we paid for. my partner and i were not happy with having to spend the night in separate beds.
- James (6/5): -
- Petrus (9/5): marvelous - continental breakfast geen buffet maar aan tafel bezorgd
- steven (10/5): Great stay - Very friendly and very keen to help in any way Nothing at all room was perfect
- steven (10/5): Great stay - Very accessible, staff very friendly, facilities ok although getting renovated its was overall a great stay Bed wasn't clean had stains on duvet
- Martin (10/5): My stay - Hotel was immaculate-staff were great location was slightly remote
- Blake (10/5): -
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing as I'd booked it on behalf of a friend. Embarassing. - Indoors clean and tidy. Grounds and car park full of litter. Bar shut at 10:30, restaurant not open at 8:30pm. Loud family group in bar made it uncomfortable. Breakfast OK but very little of everything available
- PRADIP (5/5): -
- Craig (1/5): - Cleaning rooms at 5pm

- Lynsey (1/5): - Close to where we needed to stay. Room corridors smelt of smoke
Bed sheets stained and holes
Bath stained
No hot water
Building works early on Sunday morning.
- Ken (7/5): I’m not sure I’d stay there again but overall it is a very pleasant hotel which could be improved quite easily. - It was very clean an tidy and the staff were very polite and helpful at all times It was to far away Fri the city centre. I had breakfast on the first day and it was awful. Cold and not very appetising.
- David (2/5): -
- thomas (3/5): Great bed, nothing else - Liked the bed Breakfast , no hot water in room
