- xx (2/5): Broken furniture and blame guests to pay. - The owners are scammers and liars, they ask for deposit money outside of booking.com, don’t wash their sheets, then take your deposit money for things that were already broken.
- Rida (1/5): $1,000 cash-only deposit. No Wi-Fi. Check-in took 1h30m. Hard to reach host. - 1. Deposit was increased from $250 to $1,000.
2. Deposit is paid in cash over PayPal or Interac. If they decide to run with my money, nothing is stopping them.
3. They are clearly in no rush to return said deposit. Despite reaching out, I’ve heard nothing back.
4. Check-in requires sending every piece of information anyone could ever possibly need to open a bank account in your name over e-mail.
5. Check-in was a disaster. The host gave incorrect instructions - giving me a buzzer code which led to a different floor. I was stuck in the lobby for over an hour before a random person let me hitch a ride. If this did not happen, I likely would’ve had to book another hotel and hope I could get my money back.
6. Communication over email and phone was difficult. The English level of almost every agent I spoke to was extremely poor, and they had no power to do anything even when they did understand what I was saying.
7. No Wi-Fi in the unit, the router was broken.
8. No shampoo, conditioner, or body wash in the unit.
9. This is an unauthorized short-term rental unit. The concierge & security are unaffiliated with the host and the building does not permit short-term rentals.
10. You have to clean up before check-out.
11. The check-in is on the later side at 4PM, and because of the aforementioned issues I got in after 6PM.
This was the most ridiculous booking I’ve ever made. The unit was not as advertised and I sincerely regret booking it.
I’m easy to please. I’ve slept in the crappiest of hostels and been happy, because here’s what I value.
1. If I show up, I can get access to the unit.
2. There are basic amenities. Soap. Shampoo. Conditioner. Body wash. Wi-Fi (optional, as long as it’s not advertised).
3. There is a place to sleep.
That’s literally it.
