• Li Wah (2/5): Do not book this hotel. It is a scam. - Very little. My wife stood outside and refused to go in, believing it was not the hotel we had so carefully researched, reviewed and booked. I will do my best to write objectively and resist the temptation to go on and on and turn this into a mini rant. In short, the set-up is a scam. Basically, the hotel operates under four different names: Garden City Hotel In Downtown Garden City Hotel Nile Palace Garden City Hotel Downtown Garden City Inn Hotel The ratings are either 1 or 10! My guess is that in response to dreadful reviews, the hotel changes its name, submits a whole series of fictitious reviews of 10, and then charges a room rate reflecting this, which is how we were caught. Similarly, the list of items provided in the room does not match the reality. Some staff were helpful and friendly but those at the front desk were cold and unfriendly bordering on hostile, particularly when discussing issues connected to the room. Had the room rate been one third of what we were charged I would have said it was reasonable value for money, not that I would have wanted to stay there. I have two issues. My first issue is with the Hotel, and how it operates. (It is on the second floor of what can only be described as a run-down tenement building.) My second issue is with Booking, who clearly did not carry out due diligence on the hotel and the way it operates (are we seriously expected to believe red flags do not appear on Booking's software in the case of the rating patterns like the one I have described above) and also failed in its duty of care to protect its customers and provide them with accurate information.
• Marco (3/5): - Nulla Le struttura in realtà è una HOUSE HOTEL posta al 3° piano di un edificio con ascensore fatiscente. L’ingresso principale si presenta in condizioni non adeguate, con la presenza di animali (gatti e cani) con ciotole di cibo in vista e lasciati anche di circolare e dormire all'interno dell'edificio. Abbiamo trovato un cane addormentato sulle scale e poichè l'ascensore non funzionava lo abbiamo dovuto "scavalcare". In generale un’impressione di trascuratezza e scarsa cura degli spazi comuni. Tra l’altro nelle foto inserite sul sito Booking non a caso l’ingresso non è mai rappresentato, anzi sono inserite foto che possono forviare il cliente. Verificare bene le recensioni trovo quelle con un valore super eccellente veramente distanti dalla realtà.

• Natalia (4/5): - Отвратительный номер. Вентиляция в ванной комнате отсутствует и соответственно постоянная сырость, проникающая даже в номер. Чувствуется грибок. Полотенца не сохли. И не менялись. Уборка номера за три дня не было, даже мусор не убирали. Не рекомендую отель
• FRANCOIS (2/5): A fuir - Emplacement idéal près de la place Tahir Immeuble extrêmement vétuste. Voir la photo pour se rendre compte de la réalité de ce qu'est cet hôtel. Equipements hors d'âge, voire dangereux (comme l'ascenseur !). Plomberie hors d'usage. Petit déjeuner carrément mauvais et manque de tout : le deuxième jour, plus de café ! Pas de jus de fruit ou de fruit frais. Le propriétaire essaie de tricher : il nous fait annuler notre réservation avec Booking afin d'éviter la commission et se faire payer en liquide et devise.

Les chambres ne font pas du tout 30 m2, l’ascenseur est ouvert sur deux faces … et ne se ferme pas pendant toute la montée. Le taxi vous dépose devant des marches de béton défoncées qui montent vers une ouverture béante qui ne ressemble pas à un immeuble d’habitation. Bref, nous avons choisi un autre hôtel.

The bathroom is basic, but the hot water of the shower is ok.; This hotel has a problem with Booking.com So you book, you pay the bill before you go, but arriving at the hotel they demand you cancel your booking. They will accept that. Than you need to get your money back from Booking someday. Then you have to pay the hotel again with your credit card. There is the risk that you pay double. They threaten to refuse you. It is all very aggressive. If you follow their policy it may be allright. Breakfast is a problematic thing. They are late in serving and it is not very good, even by a low standard.
• Jirka a Jitka (4/5): I na Egypt slabota - Poloha hotelu a vcelku vstřícný personál. Snažil se vyjít vstříc, problém byla velmi nízká znalost angličtiny u naprosté většiny zaměstnanců. Pokoj měl vlastní balkon s výhledem na Nil. Cena ubytování po slevě byla příjemná, ale... Vybavení pokoje absolutně neodpovídalo popisu v nabídce Booking.com. I s přihlédnutím k tomu, že jde o hotel se třemi hvězdičkami a Egypt. A to jsme měli zaplacený pokoj "De Luxe"!!!! Na stránkách Booking jsou pokoje nafocené tak, aby vypadaly vcelku bezproblemově. Realita je jiná - proležená matrace, špína v koupelně, hluk z ulice, sprcha na zdi hned vedle záchodu a nekryté elektroinstalace. Na 2 lidi jsme dostali 1 ručník a 1 osušku, kterou nám za celý týden nevyměnili. V pokoji nebyla ani židle, natož fén a dokonce ani trezor, který byl dle popisu na Booking.

Als alternatief werd ons een kamer aanbevolen in een werfzone waar we uiteraard niet op zijn ingegaan. Zie bovenstaande Dit hotel zou echt niet in het booking.com aanbod mogen terechtkomen

• Ágnes (1/5): Overpriced hostel with small breakfast with a noce coffee. - Nothing:( There is not any point that is trues about this place what they announce on Booking.com:( The real name is Hotel Nile House. The pictures are not true, there are no such things that coffee machine, kettle or table. There are mould in the room, seems like the renivatio. Has never been finished. It is hardly a hotel, it is more an overpriced hostel:( We are really dosappointed by the fact that we were scammed. When we booked it was 8,9 rate, by the time we got there it dropped to 5,4!!!! The breakfast is by a menu, not what is promised on pictures.

The photos are deceptive in that they do not portray the property accurately and actively mislead by showing a view of a neighboring historic property as it it were their own premises. Only stayed because I had already had to change properties in Luxor so didn't have the energy for it. they were kind enough to allow us to do late check out so there's that. Read above: name is different to the one indexed in Booking.com, property is dilapidated and the photos DO NOT correspond reality. The breakfast is dismal, there is no curtain/screen in the shower so it floods every time someone takes a shower. Drainage also floods regularly. The duvets look like they haven't been washed since they were last used. Bed is hard as a rock and it itches at night. The 10/10 reviews that bring up its average rating are CLEARLY doctored - they wanted to take note of the PIN code associated to my reservation. These people are aware they are running a scam and booking.com is somehow recommending this property!?

Dans plusieurs contributions le petit déjeuner était annoncé comme exceptionnel, je l'ai trouvé plutôt moyen. L'accès à l'établissement était très compliqué : le chauffeur égyptien s'est arraché les cheveux pour le débusquer.

• Heidrun (1/5): Fake Heruntergekommen Horror - Nichts, aber auch gar nichts! Habe erst gar nicht eingecheckt, nachdem ich das heruntergekommene, verdreckte Haus gesehen habe. Das ist eine Warnung, das Hotel bitte nicht zu buchen. Die Fotos sind Fake. Das Foto des Hauses von außen ist ein historisches Gebäude in der Nähe, NICHT das Hotel. In dem Hitel fällt der Putz von den Wänden. Sieht aus, als wäre Jahre nicht geputzt. Den Aufzug würde ich aus Sicherheitsgründen nicht betreten. Dafür 50 € zu verlangen, ist schlicht eine Unverschämtheit. Die Mitarbeiter sprechen kein Englisch. Alles in allem der absolute Horror, mitten in der Nacht so ein Hotel vorzufinden.

• marianne (5/5): On s’attendait à mieux vu les commentaires - Les gens à la réception étaient gentils. L’emplacement La propreté des chambres laissent à désirer (quand on voit des poils, des cheveux et des taches sur les draps de lit, on se demande s’ils ont nettoyé et change). La literie dur et le coussin très haut et dur. La salle de bain puait la pisse, l’émaille de la baignoire n’existait pas et il y avait de la peinture craquelée… un filet d’eau coulait de la douche. Nous avions une suite et une des chambres sentaient très fort la cigarette et la fenêtre ne s’ouvrait pas! Bref très étonnée vu les commentaires que l’hôtel avait, nous pensions vraiment bien tombé alors que pas du tout! Et nous avions commandé 2 jours en avance un taxi pour l’aéroport, la veille du départ également et le matin…. Il n’y avait pas de taxi, il a eu 30min de retard du coup! Les déjeuners ok mais faut pas être pressé… (45min d’attente pour du pain et de la confiture et un café…). A oui j’oubliais: super bruyant même les fenêtres fermées (y a des fissures donc on entend tout) Bref, on n’y reviendra pas!!

• Lorenzo (1/5): - Niente Prima cosa , le foto esterne dell'hotel che vedete pubblicizzate non sono l'hotel in questione ma è la vista dalle camere. La foto dell'hotel da fuori è meglio se non la vedete , fatiscente come il tutto il suo interno. Seconda cosa , hanno cercato di truffare il sito di booking facendoci cancellare la prenotazione appena arrivati con la scusa che ci avrebbero dato una " camera migliore" rispetto a quella prenotata , una scusa con la quale non hanno pagato le tasse di booking perché noi , avendo la cancellazione gratuita , abbiamo cancellato ed è come se non avessimo mai effettuato il pagamento ( cosa non vera perché abbiamo pagato al momento del check-in) e loro hanno richiesto il rimborso a booking della totalità della cifra . Capito furbi ? Terza cosa non meno importante , servizio inesistente. Purtroppo ci siamo ammalati nei giorni passati al Cairo e abbiamo chiesto molte volte il servizio in camera , servizio arrivato sempre con circa 1/2 ore di ritardo e mai con le cose richieste. La colazione era doppia ( essendo una coppia ovviamente come da prenotazione ) e loro ci hanno portato una sola colazione....la cena abbiamo ordinato A e ci hanno portato B. Vi giuro dopo 2 giorni ridevamo per non piangere. Quindi hotel pessimo in tutti e per tutto senza tralasciare che nei dintorni dell'hotel ci sono market e venditori con rompono le scatole ogni volta che uscite da quella cavolo di porta dell'hotel. LASCIATE PERDERE ! Un hotel così su booking non dovrebbe esistere

• Yin Yuk (5/5): Avoid such poor quality hotel. The high rating must be fake. - The only good thing is the location. It is 5mins walk to river Nile and 10+mins walk to city center, subway station. A convenience store downstairs open til 11pm didn't overcharge tourists like many other stores with no price tsgs. City Garden Hotel and Garden Hotel or similar name is the same hotel. The rating of City Garden Hotel at above 8 seems quite good, but I am sute it is fake. It is one of the worst hotel I ever stayed. No obvious entrance, the signage was confusing, you need to ask people to confirm it is the hotel. The entrance area was very wear-off and you must take elevator to the reception. The elevator is small, super old and looks dangerous, it move even if you didn't close the iron gate properly. You could touch the surrounding walls when the elevator is moving. The bedings were uncomfortable, the pillows and mattress were hard. The shower and the sink share the same water tap with a switch. I forgot to switch back after shower, then I got myself all wet when I wanted to wash my hands afterwards. Avoid such poor quality hotel even the price is low. I regretted so much. Booking.com showed that the room has river view in the description..But they refused to give and said river view must be shown in the heading, shown in.the description only doesn't count! And said If I pay them direct at the hotel, they might be able to give me a better room, but since I paid via booking.com, they couldn't give me a better room. First time ever I have heard this kind of statement! So ridiculous! And I saw another couple argue with the hotel that the room provided was inferior to what was booked. Then, the hotel gave them free transportation and move to another room the day after. Broken entrance, dangerous lift, hard bedings, room inferior to description, no hot water kettle, no this and that...avoid these if you can.

• Frédérique (2/5): hôtel moisi et décrépi! - Le wifi et l’emplacement Personnel à l’écoute mais inefficace… Tout le reste Chambres, confort, isolation, bruit, vétusté, moisi… À la vue des photos, Nous pensions arriver dans un palace avec vue sur le Nil, nous avons eu la surprise de découvrir un hôtel bas de gamme situé au 3eme étage avec ascenseur vétuste d’un immeuble décrépi avec vue sur une cour dépotoir… moisi sur les murs, lattes manquantes des lits, fenêtres qui ne ferment pas… Enfin bon, bien loin de ce qu’on nous avait fait miroiter… heureusement ce n’était que pour une nuit!… Surtout n’y allez pas!

• Clarissa (1/5): Esperienza pessima: hotel con recensioni false, da evitare assolutamente. - Niente di positivo. Struttura gestita da persone disoneste che pubblicano recensioni false su Booking. Non fate il mio stesso errore: mi sono fidato delle recensioni positive e sono rimasto molto deluso. Al momento del check-in ci hanno chiesto il codice PIN della prenotazione e, tramite questo, hanno potuto pubblicare una recensione con punteggio 10/10 dal profilo della mia compagna — senza il nostro consenso. Siamo fuggiti dopo una sola notte: l’hotel è sporco, trascurato e insalubre. Gli impianti sono pericolosi (in particolare l’ascensore) e le camere completamente prive di isolamento acustico, con il rumore continuo delle auto che rende impossibile dormire. Guardate le foto e giudicate voi stessi se vale la pena soggiornare in un posto del genere.
• Julie (1/5): Scam! Bestil ikke dette hotel!! - Intet Det var ikke hotellet fra billederne på booking. Vi havde bestilt en suite med to værelser men fik i stedet et værelse. Alt var ringe og beskidt. Vi flyttede ud efter en nat.
