Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): -
- Matthew (3/5): - Architecture Constant elevator noise that sounded like 24/7 thunderstorm. Property was not upfront regarding parking fees. Property would not release room information without signing an additional disclosure and $150 deposit. Booking said do not provide credit card to Property and cancellation was not an option without penalty if we disagreed with the disclosure.
- Wendy (9/5): - Very convenient location. Would stay there again.
- Flora May (7/5): - The building is old, but majestic. 1. Difficult to find the entrance to the parking area.
2. The receptionist's instructions as to where to locate/navigate the parking area is chaotic, not clear for first timers in the place.
3. The toilet bowl was clogged.

- Brenda (10/5): - Location All good
- Steeler Warrior (9/5): A week at the Pennsylvanian during the draft. - Loved the location. Easily within walking distance of point state park and acrisure stadium. The staff were friendly and willing to help if you needed anything. $4300 for 8 days, I thought, was a bit pricey. However, considering the city-wide event, the price was decent for the convenience of being close. The fact that it was non-refundable and unchangeable was a bit of a concern. There should be some type cancellation exceptions. No mention of how to get to the main entrance was stated anywhere. Directions were very vague
- Christi Lynn (10/5): - Love the condos at The Pennsylvanian. Great exercise room. Neighborhood and parking are sketchy but safe.
- Tanya (9/5): -
- Maurice (9/5): Great stay, staff, and city. - Acceptance, friendliness, knowledge Sometime no one is at the front desk.
When calling the front desk goes to a "FULL" voicemail box.

- Riffle (6/5): - Still waiting after 6 days for my $150 refund for incidentals. We slept, woke up and left. It shouldn't take more than 2 business days to place money back on a card. Refund timing

- Walter (9/5): Very convenient hotel for travel by train - THe suite was clean, fully-stocked, & convenient. I arrived by train at about 12:30 A.M., so it was great having something that nice be so close. It would be nice if hotel management could work with Amtrak management on signage. I arrived very late, so was probably slow on the uptake. I had to ask directions & then go through doors marked for emergency only

- Sharon (10/5): Beautiful place. - It was amazing I liked everything
- Alan (10/5): Great location for great value. - Loved it. Got pulled over because I missed the turn and it put me in the bus lane only. Out of town mistake.

- Scott (10/5): It was amazing and I would definitely stay again. - It was clean and the people was very nice.
- William (1/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): - Beautiful location and convenient to many fine dining.
- Thomas (10/5): - A look back in time 1900's this station now hotel was well worth the visit.
- John (8/5): - Location was perfect, walking distance to restaurants. Building has beautiful architecture. There was nothing that I did not like.
- Susan (8/5): Great value and great location - would recommend - Location was excellent for both the theatre district and the strip district, with plenty of dining options within a 10 min walk. Room was excellent and good value Pin location on Google Maps takes you to the Amtrak station. To get to the building, you have to drive up a 'bus lane', which is confusing
- Zachary (7/5): - Location to Steelers stadium was nice The parking situation, little things around the place that were broken (light fixtures and elevator door trimming), no ceiling fan in bedroom, shower pressure and couldn’t open windows
- Sari (10/5): -
- Don (10/5): - The room was a little apartment. The glowing ring from the ness and no curtains on the windows.
- Jordan (1/5): -
- Keontae (9/5): Excellence - Let me have a late check out
- Rodrigo (9/5): A place I would return to - Very clean, comfortable, safe, location, etc Nothing, everything was okay
- James (10/5): -
- Levi (1/5): Awful and strange experience. - The building is historical and interesting. Our first room was disgusting and hadn’t been cleaned. Our second room had no heat and only one blanket. One of the staff was horrible and strange short little man.
- Katherine (8/5): -
- Antonieta (6/5): Fine for one night. - The size of the rooms and appliances Dishes not cleaned all the way, broken blinds on arrival, garbage in drawers, sink drain not working properly.
- Jonathan (1/5): It was extremely dissatisfying - I like the location of the hotel. The hotel had a musty smell to it. The bathroom was nasty. We had no light bulbs in our kitchen area.
- Mark (7/5): Overall it was a pretty cool stay. Upon arriving however, my outside entrance pin wouldn’t work. I politely asked the yo - Very modern and perfectly located. The furnace vent blows on you while you’re in bed. Definitely makes you wake up completely dry.
- Tanner (10/5): Fresh! - The place is fantastic and even had a slight smell of fresh paint. Not all might like that but I loved it. Not really anything against the property at all but in from rural Pa and the city is just loud at night.
- Chris (8/5): - The staff did respond quickly when we incurred an issue wirh the plumbing.
Eric at reception was a legend. Great man with exceptional customer service. On the first night we had both the shower and toilet block which required maintenance to attend. The kitchen pans and some cutlery were left dirty. We had to clean before use.
There was a lot of noise from other rooms.
- Todd (8/5): Good value, great proximity in neat historic building. - Proximity in downtown is excellent. It’s an easy walk to sporting events, restaurants, etc. In a very interesting historic building. The apartment is spacious. The entrance was easy to identify. Soaps were provided in the shower and by sinks. The washer and drier are handy with soap pods provided. The room is recently updated with modern appointments. I recommend parking across the street in the bus station/parking garage. It’s much cheaper and easy to access I didn’t encounter the issues that some of the more critical reviewers pointed out. Only thing I can say is water pressure is pretty low in the shower and toilet.
- Hocker (5/5): It was ok - Looks nice but it’s way overpriced. It’s hard to get in and out of. Even people that live in Pittsburgh didn’t know where we were.
- Kara (4/5): The staff were accommodating and nice. The place itself was very dirty and expensive. - The people working the front desk were very kind and accommodating. Beyond dirty toilet at check-in/place not clean. After we were offered a room switch (very nice, again staff was accommodating), we were woken up on a Sunday around 8:30 (first night without kids in about a year) with many knocks on our door. Perhaps a do not disturb sign is needed so housekeeping would have know/wouldn't have knocked.
- Brittney (9/5): - Amazing location, central to most things you'd want to visit. Very comfortable and clean. We would 100% book again. Not much. Not really a con, but other reviews stated it was hard to find.. you just put in "The Pennsylvanian" when requesting a ride and it's there. The Placemakr apartments are above.
- Melissa (9/5): Love this place! - The building was beautiful! We had a whole apartment to ourselves. It was very clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. We had to pay for parking.
- Gibson (5/5): - Our room was 48 degrees when we arrived and nothing was done until 9pm that evening. We weren't offered another room or a refund. No heat
- murajda (10/5): -
- Jeffrey (10/5): -
- Christiane (10/5): -
- elpidio (10/5): - they need to clean the rooms 100 percent, hair left on tub floor all duty
- Kerri (6/5): Good location, but probably better prices nearby - The location is perfect. Staff was helpful when we had an issue with our assigned room. Building does not feel maintained. We have stayed here several times and used to enjoy the building more

- ANN (6/5): Room was fine w/ good amenities. Finding main entrance/ communication from signs and staff was poor. - The building, once found, had incredible architecture and decorated well for Christmas. The unit furniture and decorating was good in the room. The room was clean, however had an underlying fish smell covered by air freshners. Coffee offerings in room were great, they offered laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, dishes. Water was hot, comfortable bed. Communication is the LARGE underlying problem, both in terms of external signs to find the place, and inside: for example: where is the gym? Outdoor Signage to find the main entrance is non-existent in terms of finding how to get there while driving a car. The GPS will take you to the rear entrance by the Amtrak station, which is littered & confusing. The door was locked with no further signage. A simple LARGE sign with "ENTRANCE" up and around front with directions would be have gone a long way. We then tried to find out how to go around front using GPS and signs, however, RED LETTERED LARGE signs made it quickly look like only buses could enter. There were no PlaceMakr Signs large enough or with directional cues that could be seen from a driver trying to move in city traffic. The halls were dirty, the room was clean, but had an underlying fishy smell covered by air fresheners. Parking lot is set up that if someone had parked in a space behind us, we could not have backed out. I would back-in to a spot only, next time, so you could pull out easier. I have no idea how pick-up trucks parked around us could even get out.
- Ellen (10/5): Affordable and convenient luxury - Super clean
Exceptional room- a real apartment!
Easy access to Amtrak
Friendly staff :)

- Dave (9/5): - Rooms were spacious. Staff courteous Heat took hours to work
- Marilyn (9/5): -
- Zachary (1/5): Overall not a good experience. Upon arrival aI waited in the lobby for approximately 45 minutes because there was no emp - It was clean. Shower drain was clogged. Took forever to be checked in.
- Kerry (7/5): - Location There weren't enough signs indicating that was the correct place
- Johanna Lynne (10/5): - Beautiful place and very close to AMTRAK station and downtown
- Feeney (4/5): Good location but........ - Location. above Amtrak station Guy at desk was very unfriendly there was no one at desk when I left so they didn't know I checked our. No ice machine.
- Sheila (10/5): -
- Jayla (1/5): Unorganized and unhelpful - Pretty architecture Dirty, unorganized

- Yoruba (6/5): Wouldn't recommend this place - I stayed overnight to rest while passing through Pennsylvania. The apartment was nice, very clean, nice view, convenient location. But I would not stay here again nor recommend it for two reasons.
The bathroom had a gaping hole in the ceiling that brought a cold draft and left me feeling uneasy (pics included). They could have easily replaced the ceiling tile before putting someone in that room but chose to rent it out like that anyway.
The second thing was the demeanor of the desk clerk who checked me in left me feeling very unwelcome. They make you upload your ID and a selfie before confirming your reservation, but he greeted me like you would address a trespasser.

- castle (1/5): My worst experience in a hotel - A terrible experience. Room codes failed, no heating or blankets in rooms. No lights in one room. Like a building site. One family member lost access to his room and belongings - slept on the floor of another family member’s room. Seeking at least repayment of costs and should be offered compensation.
- Amy (8/5): -
- Cassidy (8/5): Overall would definitely stay again if we were going to an event at PPG or Cultural District. - The location was great for an event at PPG Paints or the Cultural District (short walk to both). The room was a studio apartment, which was suitable for a couple for two days. It was just as clean as any hotel in the area and the bed was comfortable. All the amenities you could need. My only suggestion is for the address… When getting directions, look for the Pennsylvanian. Also, it would have been nice to be notified of the race happening Sunday morning. Our car was trapped in the lower parking lot until almost noon. It was fine, we walked and had breakfast. It’s a go with the flow area. So be flexible.
- D. (10/5): -
- Carla (6/5): -
- Kristin (9/5): Very attentive staff, beautiful building, clean accommodations. - Beautiful architecture, very clean. We only had a small delay in being able to enter the building. We did arrive very late in the day, which contributed to the problem.
