Guest Reviews
- João Bernardo (10/5): Very good, comfortable and reliable. - Not explicit on where to find Block B.
- Aijie (6/5): - The apartment was generally satisfactory. The facilities appeared relatively new, the furniture was complete and practical, and the overall condition of the property was ok. Warning: If any problem arises, it is strongly recommended to contact the front desk directly or use the emergency phone number, rather than relying on customer service. Customer service misleadingly stated that the property’s front desk would not assist guests, but this seemed to be a way to create an information gap and profit by acting as an unnecessary intermediary. In reality, customer service was always reachable, and guests should contact the property directly when needed. For example, if a key is forgotten, it is better to call the property yourself immediately.
There were also comfort-related drawbacks. Ground-floor rooms facing the street had very poor sound insulation, making outside noise a significant issue. The windows could not be opened, and the room ventilation system could not be adjusted manually. In addition, there was no cleaning service even during stays of two to three weeks.

- Anna (6/5): Does the job but could be better - Good location not too far from the city centre. Good size room, bed and bathroom Instructions given did not accurately explain how to find room - instructions stated room was on the first floor when actually was in a building behind the main building on the ground floor (B block). So I spent ages wandering around looking for my room and only found it by trying my keycard on all the doors. After speaking to other people this seems to be a common issue.
2 towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper were provided, I recommend bringing extra or laundry liquid if staying more than a week. Also for some reason my room had no forks but had spoons and knives.
- Ailish (8/5): - The studio apartment had everything that I needed. It was clean, well kept and spacious. Gym floor was completely wet.
- Heather (10/5): -
- chong wai (8/5): a emengency contact phone number for the key person will help to collect the key - The price if book early. I did not receive any email to tell me how to pick up the key:(
- Jim (9/5): Overall, it was good. I would definitely come back if I was in Dundee again. Thank you to everyone. - I liked the shower and water temperature. I liked that there was someone in the office during the day. I liked the location. I liked the affordability. The pillows were a little flat. I like a little bit of elevation where my head rests. The lockbox was tricky. I was looking at it without my reading glasses. It looked like a circuit board and I was hesitant to touch it. However, one of the students happened to be leaving as I was arriving and she was immensely helpful with the lockbox situation. In retrospect, I should have pulled out the glasses.
- Zuzanna (10/5): - calm, clean and quiet, good value for money
- Kennedy (8/5): - Well designed room for a small space Wifi difficult to work out
Bin store was a bit of a mess
- Jacquie (8/5): Overall brilliant just need to iron out a few kinks - Clean and spacious
Good cooking facilities Pillows were very thin and no way to get another
Given the wrong lock box number
Woken up at 7am on our last day by the fire alarm going off because someone burnt there toast
Think the smoke alarms should be confined the the individual rooms

- Joanna (1/5): I was not able to stay and scammed out of the money paid online. - The price looked reasonable online. DO NOT BOOK. On arrival on 22nd September at 6:45pm, check-in is done remotely, and my room was not ready. There were dirty sheets, a previous persons wet towels, urine and pubic hair on the floor, toilet seat and in the bed. I took photographs and sent them to the company. I ran the emergency number given and the response was very poor. I was told somebody would ring back but they never did. Atfter constant calling for 4 hours, a message was finally recieved that the room could not be cleaned and they did not have another one. I arranged my own accomodation to stay at another, more expensive hotel. Guest 365 asked me to cancel my booking and promised to repay the full amount I had payed in advance for my stay. However, the booking.com system does not allow this. Even so, I was then told I would still be reimbursed. On checking my account, I have received no payment from them months later. I have had no apology and customer service has consistently been rude.
- Nick Brown (10/5): -
- Kathrin (8/5): - Guter Preis, sauberes Zimmer. -
- Kieran (9/5): Great value for money - Excellent value for money, accommodating hosts, generally comfortable and clean, good amenities One of the bins hadn't been emptied by the previous resident, but this ultimately wasn't a big deal
- Hasini (1/5): Horrific, book somewhere else - Horrible experience, on arrival they gave me the keys to a room that was already booked, they didn't answer my calls or text messages I panicked for the first 2 hours. The room wasn't clean. Worst of all is that noone answers you, the number they gave was fake. Sunday midnight fire alarm went off again with no staff on reception to check the guests were out safely .. my partner is H&S officer and was very disturbed by the lack of organisation.

- Ludovica (8/5): Good for a weekend - The place was really clean and conveniently located near buildings of the University of Dundee (where I needed to go). It was a bit complex to communicate with staff. They were not always available at the front desk but needed to be contacted by phone or text, and that slowed things down. When we arrived, there were also issues with our key. Although close to where I needed to go, the surrounding area is not great or well-kept.

- Clara (10/5): Started off rough bc the room I was in had no electricity and I had to wait for an hour to get another room. But once I - clean, very comfortable bed when I arrived there was no person at the reception, so when I had a problem with the room they booked me in, I had to call the number, which didn’t work because my phone had an issue. Other guests had to help me to reach customer service
- Chris (4/5): -
- Margaux (8/5): Ideally located and suitable for a short trip - Stanley Dundee is ideally located and staff is reactive and friendly. Instructions for check in and check out are clear and easy to follow. The bathroom is tiny and the ventilation very loud. The mattress and pillows were not very confortable.
- Štěpán (10/5): Well equipped and well located - As fair as student dorms go, this was definitely one of the better ones I've seen. All seemed clean and kept up. Especially enjoyed an accessible laundry room and relatively decently equipped kitchen in the studio. It would be helpful to have some basic cooking stuff at hand (such as oil and salt). Otherwise, there's not much to complain about.
- Anne-Marie (8/5): -
- Clare (6/5): Not very well run operation and very compact accommodation - The roof terrace was quite nice. I didn’t like the fact that I received several emails ahead of the free cancellation date threatening to cancel the booking (which was classified as ‘confirmed’ on the booking.com site, if I didn’t register my details with them. Then, on the day of arrival, having sent through my arrival time as asked, a code was not sent through to us until several hours after our arrival time. Luckily, a very helpful young man who looked after the student residents, and who had nothing to do with the holiday letting company, was able to let us in and sort out our room for us. He said that this happened all the time! The room itself was very small but okay.
- Maureen (8/5): - Great apartments, very comfortable No TV in room
- Adam (4/5): Stay at Stanley Studios - The location is excellent for reaching the city centre and is a relatively new facility with a variety of nice options for use, including a concierge service and communal area with shared TV, pool table, fridges, meeting rooms, and good laundry facilities, amongst others. The room is relatively well designed, especially for a modern student accommodation, with a clever layout and nice finish. There were plenty of power points, a nice usable desk and comfortable chair, plus good WiFi facilities that were easy to connect to. The shower room is nice and compact with a good shower. Some of the communal facilities were not usable such as the pool table as both the cues had been smashed up. The work areas were often a little busy so it was better to work from the room when needed although a change of scenery is nice from time to time. The main issues were in the room itself, the shower room fan is extremely noisy even with the door closed and takes some time to go off, even after using the facilities. This made sleeping tricky and troublesome, especially if one of us got up in the night. Additionally, the window was locked open and despite messaging for help via Booking and talking with the concierge staff on site (who were very nice and helpful - giving us two keys to try) we were unable to fix the problem. During our stay there was a large storm happening for a few days so it made the room quite cold and a lot of wind got in, leaving us chilly and unrested at night. In the end I had to jam the window shut with a makeshift solution but it was not perfect by any means. The room was broadly clean on arrival and the sheets were fresh but the place was quite dusty, particularly the desk, so everything needed a wipe down first before initial use. One day there was refuse left in the corridor for an entire day to the point it eventually stank out most of the building and some of the student tenants were complaining about the lack of refuse facilities to the rear of the property (I expect these will be resolved in time). My primary issue with the support via Booking, which was clunky, slow, and problematic. It took a long time to get responses and they didn't really solve our issues or take much ownership. These issues probably could have been quite easily and quickly resolved but it appeared to be outsourced generic customer service we were dealing with rather than anyone with much knowledge of the site. They quite often referred us to the on-site staff who did their best to help but it felt like we were mostly shrugged off.
- Ronnie James (1/5): AVOID - Nothing This is not a hotel or a apartment its student accommodation and should be in bold writing when booking there was no tea or coffee or was there even a tv in our room the hall way was stinking off dirty nappys and rubbish bags that was left there 2 rot for the days the bathroom look as it had piss stains on floor wouldn't say it had been cleaned that day the places had smell off cannabis and was really hot all night and day were it was uncomfortable to sleep and the bed wow one thin asda pillow each and so uncomfortable and to top it off there is dog kennels at the side off these flats or shoebox as I would said that all u hear is dogs barking this had been one worse place I have booked and it wasn't cheep I really don't think this should be on booking.com
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable stay thank you , I felt the reception desk could of been open later during the week. - Inside of the property was lovely. Didn't find out where the bins were located until my 5th day, more signage required, also there was dumped rubbish outside the back of the property by the bike rack which was not a good look.
- Craig (4/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): Stunning scenery - The hotel was fabulous the scenery stunning culture fabulous The rain and no tv but can't have everything
- Karen (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Everything you need for a short weekend stay.
- lucyna (10/5): Calidad precio excelente. - Las instituciones magnificas. Me gustó todo.
- Matthew (6/5): Did the job. - Easily accessible. Good location. Clean on the whole. Real lack of amenities - no hand towel or bath mat.
No tea or coffee provided, and half empty bottles of Tesco essential body wash/shampoo wasn’t that appealing.
Room itself was very warm and the noise from the surrounding area is a problem causing disturbed sleep (although do appreciate limited control of this).
- Alaa (6/5): Nice reception staff but no cleaning service - Location and reception staff No cleaning even we stayed for a month and they want us to clean the studio before leaving . I asked even for a mob to clean but my request has been declined not by Stanley studio but by the agent which is arranging studio rent in holidays. Very disappointed
- david (8/5): Weekend visit - How close it was to the city centre The fire alarm going off at midnight, what made it worse was when I was outside waiting for the fire brigade to come and eventually realising nobody was coming,I then had to call them myself.I really wasn't impressed!
- Peter Whyte (8/5): -
- Jackie (9/5): Great stay but a tad noisy. - The student flats were very clean, modern and well kept. There was plenty of space, and if you need a place for several days it’s ideal as you can cook in the room. Plenty of storage and a decent bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Supermarket nearby and an excellent friendly pub (Duke’s Corner) I would bring earplugs as there was a lot of door slamming, and the doors are very heavy and made a terrific bang. This is more to do with lack of consideration by other guests rather than the property’s fault, but it did really disturb our sleep. It’s a quiet location to get back to at night, which might worry solo travellers.
- Gillian (10/5): -
- John (7/5): Enjoyed stay need more pillows and a way to control room temperature better - Location was good and clean The rooms were too warm with no air con or way of cooling as windows only open a small amount also fire alarm went off a few times need to sort sensitively out on them and no staff on to tell us what to do so was outside for 45 min at night
- Margaret (8/5): It was enjoyable - Very clean friendly staff and location was good No iron or tv
- Diane (10/5): - Everything. It was modern and quiet. There was no hairdryer or tv. Pillow was lovely and soft however it was too high so had to sleep with no pillow which gave me a sore head, other than that it was brilliant and would stay again only I'd be more prepared.
- Linzi (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- van der Werf (8/5): -
- ewen (9/5): Would come again, good value, excellent studio - Clean and felt new Nothin really it was very good
- john (4/5): Basic - Communication leading up to stay re directions, how to access building. Basic - no tv, microwave oven didnt work, floor was stained/dirty, no fan during warmer weather, noise in the morning from kennels, noise in the evening from local rehearsal studio.
- Megan (6/5): Short trip for a wedding - Room was clean and the kitchen area was very handy. It was nice to have access to the gym and lounge area. There were only two pillows on the bed and this was not very comfortable for two people for two night. We had to roll up towels to sleep on. Also, the room was very warm and the window only open see a few centimetres which was unfortunate. It was also difficult to do hair and make and I had to get ready at the desk area with a handheld mirror as the mirror was further away.
- Intzar Hussain (1/5): - Never new student flat are nothing like hotel paid £256 for 3 night no tv, no fresh towels and yet I could have booked travelodge for £56 per night ...made big mistake in my life
- Margaret (8/5): Comfortable, clean environment - Clean, new, safe It was very warm in the room and on the second night I eventually had to shut the window at 2am because one of the dogs in the kennels next door whined continuously.
- Azeez (9/5): Great place to stay - The location is perfect as it is quite close to the city center. The room was clean and quiet. Free Internet.
- Shaun (10/5): Very nice, clean, convenient - would stay again. - Very clean, good facilities and easy to access.
Very good and worth the price. - I would have preferred to have overnight security as it is a relatively large property (but two tiered entrance was good).
- The instructions I were sent were a little convoluted, they could be shortened.
- Amanda (8/5): - Lovely small for the two of us after been way with kids for week nice have bit time together Would been great too have had to and fan or able control heat in the room as very hot
- Yuan (10/5): -
- Robbie (4/5): Good for the price - Good clean, facilities The staff member was rude and the lock box was broken took over an hour to enter. Room was far too hot. Dog kennel next door barking throughout our stay
- Julian (8/5): -
- Mary (7/5): -
- Tigan (10/5): -
- Vanessa (9/5): -
- Danielle (1/5): Never again - Unstaffed
Asked to keep quiet after 10pm but apparently doesn’t apply to long stay students
Does not reply when looking to complain
Can not check in on time
After being later to check in due to incompatency of staff we were still told to be checked out on time
- David (10/5): -
- Neamh (7/5): Great value for money - It was great value for money, no doubting that. It does need to be made much clearer that it is very basic in the room and you need to bring things like hair dryers, irons, tea, coffee etc. There are lots of great things in the communal areas...you just need to get used to a stay like that. There was no toilet paper, we had to go out any buy it. That's the problem with no staff on site.
- kimberly (10/5): -
- Lazareva (4/5): Really nice stay & pleasant location - Lovely, comfy, clean and modern studios
Great location
Comfy and well sized bed The property itself was lovely and had a pleasant stay but also have some feedback for the company running these facilities.
On check in we were instructed that our keys would be available in a combination box outside the property, however upon arrival it was not there so someone had to be called. This also looked like it happened to a handful of other visitors.
There was 2 people stated on the booking but we were only given one key card. A second would have been nice.
We got given only one medium sized towel each. No towel to put down on the floor when we showered and no hand towels either.
For the shower we got given 2 shampoos and conditioner but no shower gel.
Overall a positive stay but a little more organisation/attention to detail would have really elevated our stay here.
- Sammy (10/5): -
- Scott (8/5): -
- Saskia (7/5): Nice location, good value for money - I liked the kitchen facilities, though the cooker being on a timer was a bit frustrating but I understand as it is to prevent fire hazards.
Location was great and rooms were spacious and quiet. It wasn’t very clean, a lot of hairs in the sheets and on the floor. There is no cleaning during your stay and no dustpan and brush to sweep in the meantime. We were there for 4 nights so some cleaning facilities would’ve been appreciated.
Theres no Tv either and no space like a small table and chairs to eat at but I get that students would likely buy this themselves when living there.
- Sammy (8/5): -
- Francis (7/5): The cooking, micro, fridge and kitchen facilities were a huge bonus compared to a budget hotel. -
- Martin (9/5): -
- Adebisi (8/5): Very clean rooms and common areas. Close proximity to city centre. - The lack of someone to man the reception is a bummer. I requested a spare key for my daughter as we went out at different times. I was told only one key is allowed by room after the security has made a call to someone in charge. It was so frustrating because the person left in the room has to stay in the dark because she needed the card to have power. When a reservation is made for two, 2 keys are mandatory
- Ruan Wenjie (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - I liked everything about the place There was nothing I didn't like
- Vidya (10/5): -
- Adadu (4/5): Neat accommodation but didn’t know there wasn’t any tv in the room, fire alarms going off. - Neatness Crowded, fire alarms going off every evening so annoying I had to evacuate 2x within my 2 days stay.
- Cariappa (10/5): -
- Anna (1/5): Not a good experience - There was no electricity in the flat when we arrived as there was an issue with our key cards. Someone had to come out and fix it. Then my shower leaked all over the kitchen floor in the evening. I had to wait a day to get it fixed and I wasn't able to use the shower in the bathroom in the morning before work. I had to move rooms in between my stay.
- William (10/5): - This place was first class spotless could not find one fault with it you be back again as I go to Dundee quite often well done with the Stanley Was disappointed there was television that was the only drawback
- Andrea (10/5): Comfortable sleep - Everything was so clean handy for Everything the bed was super comfie you sank into the bed No tv
- Anubhuti (10/5): - Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and centrally located accommodation. Quiet setting within walking distance to everything. Highly recommend and would gladly stay again—great value for money.
- Declan (9/5): -
- Gillian (10/5): Great for a self catering weekend - Excellent clean and comfortable centrally located accommodation. Quiet and within walking distance to shops, tourist attractions and the Train station. Easy check in with lock box.Would recommend and would happily stay again.Good value. Bring a tea towel The convoluted process of booking and the necessity to give passport details.
No staff on sight all check in check out done remotely, this worked well though.
My key wouldn't let me access the roof terrace :(
- joann (10/5): - I stayed at Stanley, Dundee City Centre, for a weekend and had a great experience. The apartment was clean, modern, and well-equipped with everything I needed, from a full kitchen to a comfy bed and walk-in shower. It’s in a quiet spot but still close to the city and airport. Would stay again! None
- Paul (9/5): Clean, quiet, handy for the university. - The studio was spotlessly clean, and was equipped with a mini kitchen. The facilities included a large public area which included a range of books and games, and was a quiet and relaxing area. There is even a roof terrace for sitting out on the Dundee sunshine. There was no noise at all associated with other guests. The checking in process was confusing. The instructions direct you to a lock box and advise that a code for this will be sent to me. Also they advised that: “The main reception area for the building is NOT associated with us, so they will be unable to assist with any queries or problems.” which I took to mean that reception could not help with checking in. However, I did not receive any code, and the reception desk was very helpful and checked me in without any problems. Also they were more than happy to assist with any queries, so I don’t know why I was advised otherwise and I thought that was strange. My room was next to the dog kennels, but to be fair there wasn’t very much barking, and never at night. It would be fairly expensive to stay for longer periods, but then very good value compared to a budget hotel (and much better in my opinion)
