• Oleksandra (1/5): Very stressful and difficult stay - We stayed here in November and unfortunately had a very difficult experience. The unit is located in the basement, and there is constant cold air circulating down from the upper floors. Two small electric heaters were provided, and while they warmed the bedrooms somewhat, the main common area remained cold, especially since the kitchen is fully open with a staircase leading directly to the upper levels. There is also very little privacy because of this. The laundry is not in the unit and is instead located upstairs where the host lives, which was not very convenient. Additionally, noise from above is quite loud – you can clearly hear people walking on the upper floors, which made it difficult to relax or rest. The kitchen area was not very clean and only has a microwave and a toaster, so it is not suitable for cooking full meals. The main problem occurred shortly after we arrived. We turned on the two heaters because it was cold (Canada in November), and also used the toaster and bathroom light. The electrical circuit immediately cut out from normal use. When we informed the host, she came down and made it seem like it was our fault. She then told us she would cancel our stay on the spot, which left us (mother and son after a long day of travel) searching for another accommodation in the evening. This reaction felt very unprofessional and lacked understanding or care for our situation. Overall, the space is mediocre at best: cold, noisy, limited kitchen setup, shared laundry, and lacks privacy. The interaction with the host was the most concerning part, as there was no willingness to accommodate or support us calmly. For these reasons, we cannot recommend this property and suggest considering alternative accommodations to avoid inconvenience and stress.

Super close to get back in the highway. EXCELLENT location and very safe quiet neighbourhood. Wish we could have stayed longer ! Noise machines and/or earplugs in the bedrooms would be advised to help block out the upstairs noise.

• Thierry (10/5): Un gîte tout confort - Accueil exceptionnel de Shelley dans sa maison nichée au bout d'une impasse dans un quartier calme au nord de Toronto. Beaucoup de bons conseils, de belles discussions sur le Canada et la passion des voyages et quantité de sourires. L'appartement est immense puisqu'il comprend deux chambres. La literie est hyper confortable. Et Shelley se met en quatre pour servir de savoureux et copieux petits-déjeuners sucrés et salés. Si le B'n'B est éloigné de Downtown, le centre de Toronto est facilement accessible en métro depuis le terminus Finch avec vaste parking en face pour 5 dollars la journée. Après une journée de marche en ville, le retour au confort du gîte n'en est que plus appréciable. Le patio donnant sur le jardin et la nature à l'arrière est également fort sympathique même si nous n'avons pas vraiment eu le temps d'en profiter. Seule la douche est peut-être un peu petite mais on s'y fait sans problème. L'accès par l'escalier extérieur est lui aussi un peu étroit mais rien d'insurmontable.

Le jardin est serein et donne sur un parc public qui invite à la ballade. Le petit-déjeuner est juste comme il faut pour affronter la ville de Toronto Bref un cocon adorable, plein de petites attentions que nous recommandons fortement ! La durée de notre séjour était trop courte

The hosts were friendly and even provided breakfast before an early morning flight. The breakfast was plentiful and freshly prepared, with different choices every morning. The property was in a lovely residential area that felt very safe, with nature close by. The hosts were great at offering advice about the local area and how to get into the city, which although lengthy, was actually very easy on public transport. Just be aware that the property has an open staircase up to the family home, which the hosts use to provide breakfast. Therefore the space is not fully private. The property is advertised as having washing facilities, however, this would have been done by the hosts, which we didn’t feel comfortable with even though the option was offered.

• Friedrich (10/5): Ruhige, saubere und gut gelegene Unterkunft in Toronto - Diese Unterkunft ist sehr günstig gelegen. Wir haben von dem Toronto Pearson Flughafen mit mit gemieten Auto in weniger als 30 Minuten die Unterkunft angekommen. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel, Supermärkte, Restaurants und Cafés waren zu Fuß oder mit dem Auto in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Das Anwesen selbst ist ein friedlicher Rückzugsort – eingebettet am Ufer eines Flusses mit einem baumgesäumten Garten und einer privaten Terrasse nur für Gäste. Es fühlte sich wirklich wie eine Flucht in die Natur an. Alles im Haus war makellos sauber. Man merkt, dass die Gastgeber großen Wert auf die Instandhaltung der Räumlichkeiten legen. Die Betten waren äußerst bequem – ein perfekter Ort zum Ausruhen nach einem langen Tagesausflug zu den Niagarafällen. Die Gastgeber (Shelley & Mark) waren freundlich und immer hilfsbereit, wenn wir etwas brauchten. Wir haben auch die kostenlose Ladestation für Elektroautos vor Ort sehr geschätzt – ein wirklich praktischer Bonus! Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder hier übernachten, wenn wir wiederkommen! Sehr empfehlenswert! alles war Perfekt. Jedoch Info-Broschüre, Flyers und Zeitungen vor Ort können für die Gästen insbesondere die Touristen sehr hilfreich sein.

Nature Retreat on the Don River and Trail exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended! The property is exceptionally neat and clean, with plenty of space to relax and feel at ease. The ambience is calm, cozy, and thoughtfully put together for a comfortable stay. Shelley is a fantastic host—very helpful, responsive, and approachable. She made sure everything was perfect from check-in to check-out. Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and a great way to start the day. Everything was well-organized, and small details were clearly given a lot of attention. Fast Wi-Fi, comfortable bedding, and all the amenities you could need were provided. Whether you're staying for a weekend or a longer visit, this place makes you feel right at home. Will definitely be coming back!

The property is nestled in a peaceful setting with a river, forested trails, and a gorgeous garden full of flowers. Both bedrooms faced the garden, offering such a serene view. We loved watching birds, squirrels, and even bunnies roaming around—it was truly magical, especially for the children. Location was great. Short distance from hwy 404 and 401. Public transit is walking distance. The host was thoughtful and caring! She provided a delicious vegan/vegetarian breakfast and made sure we were comfortable throughout. • Ajwad (10/5): Exceptional - The location of this place is perfect! We loved the Bayview Woods Steeles neighborhood, and it is easy to get to downtown Toronto either via car or metro. The rooms were luxurious and had everything we needed. Both of our rooms have beautiful gardens and ravine views. Free parking. Plus, there was a very tasty vegetarian breakfast, which was included with the booking. Small but pleasant fitness room. The EV charger was very handy. We saved time and money by charging our car at this facility. Spotlessly clean, incredibly spacious, and hands down the best value for the price. Very kind staff overall. Couldn’t ask more for the price we paid.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. Every detail exceeded expectations and left a lasting impression. There was nothing to dislike.

But when the host knew we preferred vegan breakfast, she arranged happily -The property is in the main city of Toronto yet close to Nature. There is a trail for joggers, fitness lovers or bikers. -Parking was also included. I could charge our rented EV. -Everything was ok. I did not expect more. Therefore, no complaint or dislike.

What makes this place unique is that it offers both a city vibe and a cottage vibe at the same time: you’re in a big city, but the peaceful backyard feels like a tranquil escape to the countryside. • Mikayla (3/5): This stay was uncomfortable and the ad is very misleading - The property was nice, but the ad misleading. The host does not mention in the ad that this is a shared space with her daughters bedroom in the rented out area, and that the daughter uses the common spaces (all of her shower supplies still in the very unclean bathroom). During the tour she did say “this room is for private use” but failed to mention someone will be coming in and out of the space I rented out for a weekend. There is a private entrance - but that doesn’t mean much when there is no wall or even a curtain to block off the open staircase leading to the level that a large family lives in. It was very uncomfortable knowing that we couldn’t speak freely or had the possibility of running into someone else in our space. I could go on and on about our experience and how uncomfortable it was, just be aware this host is very new to hosting and the ad is misleading. As someone who cleans houses for a living, this space was also not clean. With the dirty bathroom, stained bedding, and shared accommodations that we weren’t aware of before booking, we checked out a day early and got no refund or even an apology from the host.

The house is tucked right next to the Don River and Don Valley Trail, so you’re surrounded by beautiful nature but still super close to the highways and anything you might need. The rooms were massive, sparkling clean, and everything inside looked like it came straight out of a design magazine — so stylish and cozy! Shelley herself is just the sweetest host — so warm and welcoming. She made us an amazing vegetarian breakfast with tons of fresh fruits. It was such a lovely way to start the day! We felt so comfortable and well taken care of. Would 100% stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
