Guest Reviews
- Benedict (8/5): Nice and cozy stay near Matsumoto Castle. - Place was nice and cozy, and situated a 5 minute walk away from Matsumoto Castle which was a key attraction that we wanted to go to in this city. Some facilities like the toilet and bathroom were a little cramped but serviceable.
- Rowena (8/5): - Very cute apartment, spacious, lots of great amenities.
- Rahav (1/5): Not recommended - Nothing we left the place immediately. First, the address isn't clear. The neighborhood is dark so we could find it. We had to look for the house just with the picture of the parking. The host wasn't available for us although it was said that he would wait between 19:00-20:00. When we finally got in we were shocked. We know that pictures lie but to that extent...woooww! It felt to me like a garage. It has nothing to do with my high expectations. I usually choose simple apartments.
- christiane (10/5): -
- Zoltan (8/5): Close to the castle. Might be frisky in cold weather. - Good location, close to the castle, the main attraction of the city. Also just 15 minutes walk from main railway station. Sympathetic community and young entrepreneur project. Relatively spacious. Personal touch with welcome drinks, coffee, tea offered. Even on a low budget for renovation, I would expect better quality, for example for some of the floors and mostly for window isolation. Cleaning was far from perfect at arrival. The concept is great, realisation could be better.
Très bonne i initiative 😉
Quartier tres calme.
- Eliza (10/5): - Comfy beds, everything labelled in multiple languages, heating was excellent, location was close to the castle and a 10-15min walk away from the centre of town. Could use some towel hooks or some more convenient places to hang towels.
- Liao Jimmy (10/5): -
- McDonald (8/5): Homely - The whole place was for us Difficult to work out the address.
- mariko (8/5): -
- Zi Rou (9/5): nice experience in an authentic Japanese style house. - the atmosphere was quite nice and the bed was cozy and warm.
there's smart TV that you can watch Netflix, which is great. the toilet and the bathroom were quite small and the internet connection for the smart TV wasn't that good in the morning. The videos couldn't be generated properly.
- Stephanie (10/5): Cute and lovely house. Would love to stay again. - The house is very spacious. The nostalgic touch makes you feel like you are in the old Japanese movie. Well equipped and comfortable. Just the shower room was a little small. May consider adding some hanging hooks.
- Stepan (10/5): Perfect if you want to get the feel of what it is like to live in a Japanese house. Super cozy and close to the center. - Amazing. Just loved everything.
- Amanda (8/5): We enjoyed having the entire house to ourselves! - We liked how close it was to Matsumoto Castle. We enjoyed having the entire house to ourselves, with access to a clothes washer and a kitchen. One of the bedrooms was in a room that was detached from the house. It got a little stuffy in there at night, but everyone slept fine.
- Zack (10/5): -
- keith (10/5): Amazing, warm, relaxing - The building was old fashioned but so warm and had an old school charm about it Nil
- Don (8/5): Christmas tour Japan - Perfect location for us to get about Matsumoto. The house was lovely and cosy when we arrived. Lots of nice treats. Great instructions in and about house for parking and use of equipment. The house gets very cold at night with the heating off. It is January so the outside temperature is below zero. Its annold renovated house with lots of charm so understand that it is hard to heat.
- Sonja (9/5): Very unique stay in great location - Really cozy atmosphere, very close to Matsumoto castle
- Katya (10/5): Wonderful and quirky Japanese home - If you're looking for a Japanese home as opposed to a vanilla hotel, this place is for you. It's lovely and quirky, very comfortable with everything you might need is provided. We loved how it's decorated and the furniture too. The instructions on how to get there, where to park etc are clear and useful. When we got there the heaters were on which felt welcoming and warm too. The house is in a quiet neighborhood but only a few minutes walk from Matsumoto castle. We liked everything but if future guests are looking for luxurious bathrooms then keep looking; the small shower is at the back of the kitchen and the toilet is very small. For us it was fine.
- Rose (8/5): Great choice for us - Location and spaciousness. I was near all we wanted to see. Nil
- How Ting (10/5): -
- Marta (9/5): - The house was very well equipped.
The host provided very clear guidance.
It is very close to the castle and in walking distance from the station.
- Kobkul (8/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): - Cozy traditional house in central Matsumoto, we loved it! (3 night stay) Nothing
- Jan (10/5): -
- Marc de Sala (9/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Cynthia (9/5): -
- Akkasit (10/5): -
- Julia (10/5): - We were completely satisfied with our stay. The accommodation was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, the location was perfect, and all the facilities worked flawlessly. Everything was just right, and we would gladly stay here again.

- YUJI (10/5): -
- DirkJan (6/5): Prima voor 1 of 2 nachten. - Super centrale locatie. Lage plafonds. Ontbreken van een badkamer.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Great location well appointed and very clean
- Ghislain (8/5): Very good - It is a somewhat older wooden house and looked like how I imagined an older Japanese house. It was well equipped, clean and feels very cozy. The house is nearby the Matsumoto castle and is only a 5 minute walk. Although the house is close to the castle it is a bit further away from the centre of town, about a 15 minute walk. Our bedroom did not have curtains only shades. Sun starts to shine early.
- Jing (9/5): Superb - Friendly host of this house is very thoughtful, u can expect full amenities (face mask, laundry detergent and softener, bathroom items, a projector for you to watch movie on the wall etc)
There is a "secret way" to go up the balcony and chill. 5 mins walk to Matsumoto castle and night view is beautiful. Host is very prompt in answering your queries. House is kept clean and tidy. Appreciate the personal touch provided by the host.
- Pamela (8/5): SUPER location, easy walks around city. Clean rustic partially renovated traditional Japanese house - SUPER location, close walk from train station and then to various tourist sites. There was LOTS of room, but note that the kitchen was traditional, SMALL, but had LOTS of dishes and even some goodies left for us to use. Had a washing machine that we did not use. It was was interesting to see a more traditional Japanese house. The upgrade of electrical and plumbing was evident. Lots of mattresses and separate bedrooms. Grandkids were SO happy to discover a basket of toys, lego, etc and thought this was the best place on our travels. Best described as rustic, ski chalet feel to it. We are from Canada, so rustic lodge feel, not a problem for us. We encountered snow there in late March, and were happy to be kept warm in the house and enjoy the snowy views. It fit all of our needs, only one problem with the heat in ONE room, if we had stayed longer we are certain that issue would have been solved. (maybe wrong remote or battery issues??) If the managers have time it would be nice if they upgraded the chairs in the house.
- David (9/5): Excellent traditional house in Matsumoto - Great property with loads of space. Traditional Japanese style in a good location. Very homey and wholesome. Had everything we needed. Would love to come back for longer! The pillows were a bit thin & worn, and if we had more than 3 people everyone would have only 1 thin pillow.
- Eline (9/5): Superb - It’s a beautiful Japanese style house with modern amenities, well equipped and conveniently close to the castle. Sink near toilet isn’t working and it is a bit of a search to find the entrance to the terrace.
- Frank (6/5): Ok. - Many elements good (bed, functional shower, electric heaters), but overall was cold, uninviting, little natural light. We left early, partially because we ran out of things to do in Matsumoto (April).
- Allison (8/5): Excellent location with parking available. - Excellent location. Friendly host. Good communication. Plenty of space. We couldn’t work out how to secure the front door from inside the accommodation but had I contacted the hosts I am sure they would have assisted.
- Sandra (9/5): Cozy and roomy inn in a great location. Very short walk to Matsumoto Castle, great restaurants and wonderful shops…..de - Great location ….very close to Matsumoto castle and quaint restaurants and shops. The inn was very roomy ….lots of space to relax. Since 3 of us were staying at the inn, it would have been nice to have more than 2 chairs at the dining table.
- Arthur (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pak (10/5): Funky retro style Japanese home. - There was heaps of space and the place had plenty of heaters to keep the place warm in the Winter. In previous reviews people mentioned they had issues witth parking, but I had hired a Nissan X Trail and I had no issues parking it at the property. Great experience at the property!
- Tania (9/5): Very convenient, car park option good, comfortable stay overall. - Easy to walk to castle and restaurants. Very comfortable. Hard to heat up the room downstairs.
Shower area small and little hard to juggle your clothes, no hanging option.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Linus (10/5): Exceptional - Right in the heart of Matsumoto, big and spacious accomodation
- Jessica (7/5): Good -
- Yoshiaki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (7/5): Value for money. Excellent location. - Minutes walk from Matsumoto Castle. Experience a traditional, old Japanese house outfitted with some modern amenities. Value for money. Loved that there was a “hidden” extra bedroom as well as a roof terrace that was only accessible from a “secret”/hidden entrance. There were 2 parking lots, but the larger one which can accommodate a larger car, is also more difficult to access when driving a larger car 😅.
- Helen (10/5): Magical stay in Matsumoto - So close to Matsumoto castle we could see it from upstairs windows. Only a short walk to the castle and old town. Beautiful traditional house and great facilities. Awesome Christmas light display on the castle at night.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - House is cosy, with a vibe of retro in it Toilet and shower room is small. For people above 175cm, need to be careful of hitting ur head against the beams in the house
- Refael (9/5): Superb - Very well maintained. Have all the appliances needed. Charming place at the heart of Matsumoto. Wish we could stay longer..
- Yulia (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing home with everything what you need..nice and helpful owner..5 min walk from the house to the Matsumoto Castle
Huge washing machine 😍 Nothing
- Kit (9/5): Superb - Very interesting layout and facilities are awesome. Like the added touch of the balcony. Owner is very thoughtful and even provide facial mask for us. Small parking space for large car
- Nirun (8/5): Very good -
- Eo (8/5): Nice old-new house at convenient location with plenty of home devices - Nice location to access to train station and Matsumoto castle.
Facility is very old but well renovated inside, and it has calm and nice atmosphere to relax,
Rooms are large enough for 6 people. We could spend good time with friends and also with internet connection.
Plenty of free drinks were very helpful, and kitchen had enough home appliances to cook. Laundry machine is also equipped which is very convenient for longer stay. Parking space in front of entrance could be widen especially small wall of entrance side can be cut to gain a few centimeters width. Then it's easier to park a car.
Walls may be so thin that we needed to be careful talking during night hours.
- Adi (6/5): An old apt in Matsumoto - The location is good 5 minutes from the castle and 10 minutes from the center of town)
Excellent washing machine. Very old apt. Felt abounded and not that clean. We were 6 and ordered an apt for six, yet we didn't have arrangement for two of the guests and had to improvise a solution.
Parking space was very small and we nearly blocked the street.
Shower wasn't comfortable.
- Elyn (7/5): Good - It was a very unique experience for us to have a chance to stay in a traditional Japanese house. The toilet sink was a little small and in an awkward location to be useful.
- Paul (10/5): Loved the place. Would stay again in a jiffy - Spacious. Clean. Well appointed - clearly by someone who cares that guests have a great experience there. I hit my head on the beams. :-(
- P (6/5): Pleasant - The balcony.. 1 No one to let us in( after telling what time we would arrive , had to wait for 45 min ! ) On my request to give us please the keycode…2 NOTHING IN ENGLISH EXPLANATION!!!
This is not customer friendly!!
No single knife!!! Very tiny place. The location was nice and quiet.
- Kk (7/5): Good -
- Dinh (10/5): 10000/10 the price is cheap but the accommodation is exceptional good - Really clean and spacious 2-storey house. They give us a lot of things like welcoming biscuits, noodles, water, tea, energy drinks, tea and coffee. They even have a projector and hair straightener haha. A really nice place with cheap prices. 100/10 nothing
- Dara (10/5): I loved this property!! - I loved this property!! It definitely felt like a second home and the vibe was so cute. Excellent value for money and great location. Had everything you need. The host was very lovely and helpful - thank you so much!!
- Jagtiani (8/5): I think it was a very big and a clean house. Perfect for a family - Beautiful house in a lovely local neighbourhood. The toilet was a bit of a let down.
