Guest Reviews
- Hans (9/5): Great place in a majestic environment - Great place to stay. Comfortable and very friendly staff. Good food. All reasons to return. It was a pity that the outside was in renovation. But anyway, it had to happen. They could have mentioned it when we booked the place.
- Simon (3/5): If only you’d told us - Great location lovely building and good food. if you’re looking for a luxurious sea-view room with a side of authentic incarceration vibes, this is the place. The scaffolding draped lovingly across the windows was particularly impressive. It gave our room that signature “Wormwood Scrubs meets Cornish fishing village” vibe. I guess you can peer through the bars though, so long as you don’t mind the dirty window.. There is of course the gentle percussion of the builders hammers at 10:30am which was the perfect way to ease into the day. My morning nap didn’t stand a chance, but did built character.
What’s especially charming is that multiple recent reviews of this place mention the scaffolding and include management apologies, yet nobody thought to drop us a little email beforehand. A quick “Just so you know, your sea view now comes with steel bars and power tools” would have prepared us beautifully for our luxurious confinement.
That said, the location is stunning, the building beautiful, and the food is excellent. The breakfast buffet had a fair range (though I’m still slightly traumatised by the aggressively whipped Greek yoghurt and by the way toast is included but a sausage is extra!).
The clever policy of making everyone wait to be seated in the restaurant really does build suspense (and irritation) by the time you sit down you’re basically ready to eat to the cardboard menu.
Dinner was worth the wait too, once it finally arrived, the average staff of one person made for an entertaining game of ‘yoo hoo over here’. Food itself was genuinely good. The only downside was the slight risk of needing to send out a search party for our main courses.
But At £290 a night you half expect the waiters to arrive by speedboat it’s really expensive as was dinner and the rooms are small.
Reception also had a delightfully minimalist approach, unmanned on both occasions I visited. I can only assume the lovely lady on duty was upstairs helping with the painting in the name of staff efficiency.
- Michael (9/5): We enjoyed our time at the Harbour Hotel - Lovely location and hotel Renovations on the terrace area during our stay
Additionally charge for cooked breakfast
- Stuart (8/5): Great location and lovely staff. - Friendly staff and great location. Breakfast service was slow. I think I arrived just after a group had left so the buffet selection was pretty empty.
Beperkt ochtendontbijt, eieren of spek e.d. Extra bij te betalen.
- Hilary (9/5): Lovely hotel, great location, rooms are charming- just expect to pay top rates. - Great location and views- was there for a wedding and all the food and facilities were lovely, staff were super friendly. Was expensive as it is equivalent to London prices and parking is challenging due to very limited space.
- Michael (8/5): Quality horel that will have a great view once the scaffolding is down. - Friendly staff. Good location. Comfortabeble bed and nicely appointed room. Modern bathroom. High standard of housekeeping. Breafast nicely cooked and with a good choice We paid for a room with an estuary view, but upon arrival, we found that the view was obscured by scaffolding and that painters were working directly outside our window for the entire stay. The terrace, which we’d expected to use in the evening, was closed because it was full of scaffolding. The lack of communication about the scaffolding seems to have been a deliberate policy set by management. I felt we had been intentionally misled.
We booked a celebration meal in the restaurant but were disappointed to find that the quality of the food was mediocre.
Although we booked weeks in advance, we were unable to reserve parking.
- Maris (10/5): Best view - Location, was looking amazing,
- Najwa (9/5): Beautiful Fowey was made even more charming by our Harbour Hotel stay - Beautiful property and staff managed all aspects from checking in to meals wonderfully and professionally. Wonderful place Scaffolding around the hotel for some renovation work and parking space tight, same way in and out and turning spaces were very tight. Room was also very cold and the heating was not working well although the hotel staff helped set up a portable heater in the room.
- Cheryl (7/5): Should have been informed of repairs going on. Room should have been checked before arrival. - Beautiful location, lovely staff. Normally a fabulous hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is under repair with a lot of scaffolding which will be ongoing for several weeks. We were not told of this when we stayed there, so therefore expensive sea view room was obstructed. Blinds held together with duck tape and large mark on carpet.
The room should have been perfect for the price.
- Beverly (9/5): Stunning Fowey - Lovely clean room and bathroom both beautifully decorated. Excellent food. Great location to the village and coastal path walks. The exterior of the hotel is undergoing maintenance which guests are not informed about in advance. We paid extra for a sea facing room and our view was ruined by the scaffolding outside our second floor room. We had contractors walking passed the room on a Saturday.
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely Silver Anniversary treat! - Lovely boutique hotel for our Silver anniversary weekend. Staff were all lovely and helpful and the complimentary gin and card on arrival was a lovely touch. Bed was huge and very comfy. Great to have a coffee machine in the room too. Good range of food on offer for breakfast. Shame the hotel was under scaffolding (obscuring some of the view) but couldn't be helped.
- Linnea (9/5): -
- Andreas (10/5): Perfekt - Beste Lage und schöner Blick aufs Meer. Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür.
- Mario (8/5): Beautiful stay - Personal attention of the staff Limited parking
- Paul (7/5): -
- Joanna (8/5): -
- llion (10/5): Amazing view from almost everywhere - Breakfast choices great. Note however that you need to upgrade on arrival for a cooked breakfast, The option included in the stay is continental. All very good quality. All good
- David (9/5): Very comfortable, and convenient for a family gathering the following day. - Didn't have much breakfast - family birthday breakfast gathering down by the quay. A little less expensive, but we expect everyone says that!
- Jacqueline (9/5): Fabulous Fowey - Location, staff and food. We’ve stayed before and will again. Our room this time was just a little on the small side.
- Anthony (10/5): - Title: An Impeccable Stay – Perfect from Breakfast to Dinner!
"I recently stayed at the Harbour Hotel and can honestly say it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the service and atmosphere were top-notch.
The culinary experience was the real standout for me. Everything—literally everything—from the morning breakfast spread to the evening dinner service was impeccable. The quality of the food, the presentation, and the attentive staff made every meal feel like a special occasion.
If you are looking for a seamless stay with world-class dining, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I’ll definitely be returning!" Title: Professional Excellence & World-Class Design – An Absolute Gem
"I recently stayed at the Harbour Hotel, and it was quite simply the best hotel experience I’ve had. What struck me most was how flawlessly they managed their recent renovations. Despite the updates, the service never faltered—the staff were incredibly professional, accommodating, and handled everything with such grace that you’d never know there was work going on.
The property itself is a masterclass in detail. The interior, clearly curated by a professional designer, is stunning, with a perfect balance of heritage features and contemporary, high-end finishes. Every corner feels intentional
And then there’s the food—absolutely impeccable. From the variety at breakfast to the exceptional quality at dinner, the culinary team is at the top of their game. If you’re looking for a seamless stay where the staff are as polished as the decor, this is the place to be. I cannot recommend it enough!"
- Edward (8/5): - Uninspiring More selection
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Heather (10/5): Fowey is a beautiful town with good walks and lots of lovely restaurants to choose from. We had a great long weekend wit - Beautiful hotel with fabulous views over Fowey Just the scaffolding whilst the property is being painted but everything else fab
- Mike (10/5): -
- Polly (10/5): -
- Debbie (6/5): Overpriced - Good location Scaffolding blocking bedroom view and view from dining room
- Christopher (10/5): Wonderful in every way except as noted. - Scaffolding partially blocking view and terrace closed. Would have been nice if we’d been warned.
- Kirsti Herring (10/5): - Flott hotell rent og fint. God mat og god service.
- John (10/5): Grat hotel in wonderful position - The location is absolutely brilliant with views up and across the estuary as well as views out to sea.
The continental breakfast buffet is excellent and we didn't feel the need to upgrade to cooked breakfast. The room was good size and very comfortable and the complimentary G&T was the icing on the cake The parking is very limited and if not prebooked you will need to use the town car parks
- Claire (10/5): Excellent - Loved the view and friendliness of the staff.
- Julia (10/5): Wunderschön! - Sehr freundlich, wunderschönes sauberes Zimmer, tolle Lage, hervorragendes Essen
- Ben (8/5): - The hotel had friendly staff, good food, and a great location. It also had nice views The balcony was closed when we visited which was a shame. There was also insufficient parking so we had to park elsewhere (albeit there was an alternative car park not too far away)
- Tessa (9/5): Wonderful Hotel for our visit to Fowey. - So pleased we booked a 2 night stay here Really unusual large, brightly decorated room with bathroom located up an open staircase. Windows on 2 sides - so very bright. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Views were stunning, breakfast great and a restaurant balcony to enjoy coffee and views. Hotel so convenient for the walk to the beach and town. More detailed directions to the Parking area. Parking was limited and I booked and secured a doubled up spot but took a wrong turn. Reception staff were very accommodating and one came out on to a parallel road to help me to locate the carpark and my space.
- Anna (10/5): -
- Wayne (7/5): - Parking issues

- PAULA (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Paradise in Cornwall with exceptional staff - Staff lovely. Breakfast fabulous. All perfect
- Jane (10/5): A lovely few days break - Beautiful view. Good location Cooked breakfast not included in room rate despite being told breakfast was included
- Maren (10/5): Luxurious hotel with an incredible view and comfy rooms. - Close to town. Beautiful view from the restaurant, bar and outdoor terrace.
- melissa (10/5): -
- Keith (10/5): Superb place to stay in Fowey. Close to the town centre - Wonderful view. Lovely rooms. Good food. Close to the town centre without being on top of it. Car park is very tight on spaces. Prebook and be prepared to reverse out if the lane is blocked.
- Libby (9/5): - Lovely hotel. Great position. Nice staff , delicious dinner and decanter of Gin in the room! Prior to arriving rather non committal reception staff re parking and booking restaurant. It's a bit off putting that 'no can do' attitude . But it wasn't in evidence at all once we arrived.
Radiator made a hell of a racket in the middle of the night for which they apologised and gave us our room extras on the house...so very well managed !
- Heather (8/5): Love Fowey and harbour hotel breakfast choice and parking is always a bonus in Cornwall - Location Looking tired outside which I think they are addressing thus year
- JACQUELINE (10/5): Lovely -
- Simon (8/5): -
- Paul (9/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Nick (9/5): Superb - Superb location Needs a refurb in places and should have lights at night down to the front area
- Ian (9/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): It was lovely and fully recommend - Lovely location very clean. The food was lovely and staff very friendly Nothing it was all lovely, although they could put a heater in the bar which would be more comfortable
- Robert (10/5): An enjoyable three day break even without warm weather. - The reception to the hotel and assistance offered was appreciated. The whole visit made pleasant with the most friendly and helpful staff from reception, restaurant and a workman whilst we were there the best we have encountered. We had a great view from room, breakfast and dinner good although maybe a bit more choice for latter. Room very comfortable. For want of a different title chamber maids ensured bedrooms well made, clean add tidy. There wasn't anything we didn't especially like but the policy with gratuities shouldn't be added but visitors given the opportunity to provide. Some people whilst reluctant to pay would be embarrassed to ask for them to be removed.
- Robert (10/5): -
- Simon (10/5): Fantastic hotel, fantastic food and fantastic people. Why haven’t you been??? - I’m not prone to over complimenting but…
Quite honestly, this was a fantastic long weekend break. The booking process, booking confirmation, car parking arrangements, special requirements, etc were brilliant and not a cold formality. On arrival the hotel is in a stunning location and very well decorated and charming. Even a Poirot old style elevator 👍The staff reception was fantastic. The room was amazing, the flat iron steak, cheese and haddock soufflé & the breakfast was all fantastic. The staff were friendly, helpful professional happy but not in your face or pretentious. We would love to go there again and we will. One day the mist didn’t clear all day & we spent a lot of time in the hotel, and I had a brilliant day, no complaints. Thank you. Nothing to say here….
- Peter (10/5): Fantastic hotel , loved it , facilities were great and the staff friendly - Location and The Hotel was quiet I think the cooked breakfast could be included , but £10 a head is not outrageous . Paying extra to park is a bit odd but we understand.
- Danielle (10/5): - Lovely rooms and amazing views Nothing
- Steve (10/5): Very enjoyable, very relaxing, delightful hotel with superb views - Exceptional position with beautiful view to wake up to. Room spotless, Attentive cheerful staff especially front desk. Breakfast very good. Insufficient parking but can't be helped.
- stephen (5/5): - The bed room The restaurant and sitting area was small
- William (9/5): - Fantastic view and super high standard of fittings and furnishings. Very professional staff.
Well worth keeping in mind for a special occasion stay. Beautiful room. Access in fowey was a little difficult for vehicles but no reflection on the hotel .

- Kathryn (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Will be going back as soon as we can - Fantastic place, lovely staff, beautiful room Room was a little hot perhaps
- Graeme (10/5): - Fantastic position overlooking the estuary No facilities like a spa pool or gym
- Debbie (10/5): Lovely hotel with excellent staff in good location - Well-presented, clean hotel with excellent staff in a really good location. I thought charging £12.50 per day to park a car was cheeky considering we had already paid to stay there.
- Lucie (10/5): -
- GWENLLIAN (10/5): Happy that we chose the perfect hotel to celebrate our Golden Wedding - We had a lovely four night stay to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. What a lovely place to stay! Staff were warm and welcoming, the views from the hotel, wow! Our room was cosy with a beautiful view across the harbour to Polruan. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and evening meals and of course the beautiful view from the restaurant. A lovely place to stay. Will recommend to friends.
- Philippa (9/5): -
- Millie (9/5): A peaceful few days away in a beautiful hotel with very helpful staff! - Everybody who worked there was so lovely. The room was clean and the view was incredible. A peaceful getaway for mum & i and the location was perfect. So easy to get into town. We loved looking at the view whilst we ate breakfast every morning. Finding the car park was always a bit tricky and parking could sometimes be even trickier!

- Teresa (8/5): Just what the doctor ordered - Location. It is either b& breakfast or it santander. Do not agree with ha I g to pay extra for eggs on toast! Paying extra for breakfast. Menu overall
- Kate (10/5): -
- Simone (8/5): -
- ANDREA (9/5): -
- Henry (9/5): Great stay. Much better than the two hotels we stayed in, to andfrom Fowey - The Service was excellet. Gluten free options better than most but still scope for more choice.. eg Croissants,
GF Paste, etc Just GF limitations and overall parking space by hotel. Although we managed to secure a nearby spot by persistence and our age.
- Alice (8/5): Very nice - Very lovely room and perfect location. Breakfast was good and stand were friendly and helpful. We could hear the room above us quite loudly creaking floorboards when they were moving around
- Laura (8/5): -
- Poppy (8/5): - Absolutely stunning views and a great location. Comfy bed and delicious breakfast. The shower was slow to drain, so if you used the big head it would flood the bathroom.
- Tim (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay and will visit again - Good fresh cooked food,
Nothing too much trouble for the staff
All staff smiley and happy We wanted to stay a further night, but car parking was unavailable.
- Kathryn (9/5): -
- Alana (10/5): We had only one night but the staff were so friendly and accommodating - Beautiful furnished and in a great location
- Betty (8/5): Harbour hotel Fowey - The room was clean and very comfortable had a good restaurant which overlooks the harbour Very small car park and a charge of 12.50 a day,
- Marion (10/5): -
- Melissa (9/5): Beautiful accommodation - Absolutely beautiful location and accommodation. Staff were lovely Nothing to do with the hotel but the town is deserted in Winter and hardly anything is open during the week
- Field (9/5): -
- Margaret (9/5): Excellent hotel with very good facilities , ideal location - All the staff were exceptionally attentive and responsive
Room was spacious , bathroom extremely well appointed and roomy
View from room brilliant Nothing
- Paul (5/5): Nice stay. Pricey stay. - Location was lovely. Beautiful views. Staff were kind and warm, welcoming. Food and drinks lovely. Felt slightly misguided regarding the breakfast, paid £725 for 3 nights including breakfast and told on arrival that it’s an extra £10 for an enhanced breakfast. This was disappointing as expected a full inclusive breakfast to be included.
Again, had to pay a lot of money for parking, one would expect parking to be included in the price of the hotel as it was expensive.
