• Sandra (4/5): Endroit déprimant au maximum. - Points positifs : * Emplacement excellent, à deux pas de la gare - très pratique pour les déplacements. * Appartement fonctionnel : tout est fourni (vaisselle, accessoires de cuisine, etc.). * Propreté générale correcte dans le reste du logement MAIS Points négatifs : * Appartement extrêmement sombre : murs très foncés (bleu marine/noir), une seule petite fenêtre et éclairage très très faible, ce qui crée une ambiance oppressante. * Logement difficilement supportable plus d’une ou deux nuits, même si on est surtout à l’extérieur. * Salle de bain inacceptable : moisissure importante dans la douche, manque évident d’entretien. La cama de matrimonio eran dos individuales juntas y la tercera cama era un sofá con sabanas (no un sofá-cama). El baño algo viejo y tenía un olor muy raro al usar la ducha. Hay que dejar una tarjeta a través de una aplicación externa a booking para dejar fianza de 200 euros.

• Mark (8/5): Great for a stop on route by train. - Well equipped apt, Location is very close to train and Flix bus and has good links to town. Good value for money. Location: at night the train station is closed and you need to walk through some deserted streets around the railway bridges to get home. Central Bordeaux may be a better choice if you don't need to be close to the station.

• Brian (1/5): A contender for one of the worst places I have ever stayed in. - 1. The adjoining wall between the bedroom and the apartment next door is paper thin. I could hear every word of the discussion the people next door were having between 3am and 6am. They weren’t loud as such but it was as though they were standing right next to the bed. 2. The bedding was a disgrace. The sheets were no doubt white at one time but it certainly wasn’t in this century. I thought at first that the bedding hadn’t been changed since the last person had slept in it. I was booked in for 2 nights. I stayed the first night and found alternative accommodation for the second night. 3. The apartment was on the ground floor looking out onto the street. The curtains in neither the front street side window nor in the bedroom window met so that it was possible for any passer-by to see into the bedroom. 4. Ironically, when you book this place the guy who owns it or runs it sends you a long rambling text message which amounts to a list of ‘do and don’ts’. He would be much better served getting his own act together.

• Isabel (6/5): Ok but I wouldn’t want to stay more than a night. - It was close to the station. The bed was comfortable. It wasn’t a great area- I wouldn’t want to stay there on my own as a single female. It had steep steps which were difficult to manage with heavy bags. The windows were high up so you couldn’t see out. The room was in the eaves so the bedroom area in particular had a very low ceiling and the bed was tight to the wall on one side. In the morning we were slightly alarmed because we thought someone was coming into the flat but it was another resident leaving early….noise from adjacent flats.
• Kit (9/5): Comfortable and close to the train and downtown tram. - I really loved that this apartment is a block and a half from the train. Extremely quiet. It was spotlessly clean and having the facilities to make meals while I was there was great. The host was extremely helpful--gave me extra time when my bag blew up and I had to run out to get another. One interesting thing that likely has to do with the 'eco' side of the hotel is that there are no outside windows (one to a skylight tower in the centre ) It's dark but it makes it quite cozy. No complaints at all!

So getting there took a detour around a construction area. I needed a map to find the tiny street. It has everything: small kitchen, bedroom, bathroom Once I had booked, only then did the owner tell me via email that: 1. They required that I send photo ID by email before they'd give me the door access codes; 2. They weren't available for phone contact after 20:00. This was an unpleasant surprise. If I had known this beforehand, I wouldn't have booked as I booked only at the last moment and would arrive around 19:30. I was thus worried that I wouldn't get access despite having paid. These conditions should have been advertized on the main page, not imposed afterwards. *** So don't book this place at the last moment: you might run into difficulty then ***

• Kate (7/5): Great location to the train station, short walk to the centre. - Glorious bath tub for a soak! Reason for me staying here and not a hotel was for the use of a washing machine. However; the washing machine was not working and the advert hadn’t been updated, therefore the whole purpose for booking a place with a washing machine went out the window, highly frustrating.
• Pedrupillai (4/5): The apartment is more suited for students than older people The stairs are too steep - The apartment is kept clean. The apartment is in a rundown area and rather unpleasant neighbourhood. It is at the back of the main railway station so noisy at night.

There was extra bedding, but we didn't want to use it as it as it wasn't very clean. There were no instructions about how to use the heating. The shower wasn't easy to use.

• Alison (5/5): Very different apartments in the same building - Jerome was very helpful and communicative allowing me to check in early. Wifi worked well. Location is conveniently close to the train and bus station if that is where you want to be (I did). The bathroom was bright and had a good shower. The bed was very comfortable and the lack of windows meant that the room was dark for sleeping. (Check the reviews against which apartment you are looking at, as some apartments appear to be much nicer than others.) The mixed reviews on here I think are probably due to there being several apartments in the same building. This apartment (standard with bedroom and living room) had no real natural light or ventilation as the windows faced an internal light well and there was at least one other floor above, possibly two. This meant the apartment was extremely dark, which made it difficult as I needed to work during the day I was there. Even with the lights on the rooms were very dark, as low wattage yellow (not daylight) bulbs were used, and all the walls were painted dark blue (although without natural light the colour probably doesn't make much difference). Would recommend that the lightbulbs in the living/kitchen area were replaced with daylight bulbs and that might make the 100euros a night better value for money.
