• Keith (8/5): - Great location, pool and spa were great especially steam room & sauna, and breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Our room was a little bit small for us and the veiw was not great however we booked last minute during a busy time so glad that we could be accomodated.
• Elaine (5/5): old fashioned and disappointed no hot breakfast - Checking in was really easy the Reception staff were really friendly and polite. The room was very spacious and the view was ok. The bar was open 24 hours The room was old fashioned and needs a bit of TLC. Big stain on the ceiling. There was a constant humming noise, probably from the heating. The pillows were like bricks and the bed was hard. When we went down for breakfast we were informed there was no hot food. Continental breakfast only. The dining room was manic - massive queue for tea coffee machine. Decided against breakfast and asked for a refund, was told we could have the difference between a full English and a continental - when I asked to speak to a manager I was then offered a full refund.

• Diane (5/5): Sadly the hotel has deteriorated since our last visit. - The room was clean and the facilities in the room were good with plenty of storage. Part of the ceiling in our room had obviously had a leak and was stained. The window had seen better days with gauges out of it and tissues stuffed in the holes. There was a leak in the stair well which was dripping. The hotel restaurant's menu is more like a Wetherspoons rather than an up market venue with frozen chips with most dishes.

• David (9/5): Nice hotel. Great location. - Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean, tidy and well presented. Bar meal portions were generous and very tasty. I found the mattress on the bed very hard and struggled to get comfortable as I’m used to a softer mattress at home. Access to car park at the rear is awkward to find and entry through the spa area is unclear. Parking charge seems excessive for the location.
• Petrosyan (1/5): The hotel is dated and dirty, Unfriendly staff, poor customer service - Location - very close to the lovely coast I travelled to Scarborough for work and was staying in this hotel for 2 nights. The hotel is rated as 4 starts but I would rate it as minus 4 stars it it was possible. I tried to call several times on Saturday to let them know that I was arriving after 11.30pm but couldn't get through. When I arrived in the hotel, I rang the bell several times before a staff member came to the desk. He looked rather unimpressed so I apologised for the late arrival and told him that I tried to let them know about it. His answer was 'well we had a busy evening'. Then another staff member approached him and they had a debate about which room I was supposed to be in. I asked whether breakfast was included in my booking and was told it wasn't. I went up to my room just before midnight and the key wasn't working. I came back to the reception and rang the bell again. The same guy approached with the worst ever attitude and just said 'what?'. I suggested that key wasn't working and his response was 'never trust anyone, I was told that it was all set up'. No apology. I entered the room which was unbearably hot. The windows were open and they had the ceiling fan and a table top fan running but the heater was fully on. The bin was full of rubbish including empty beer bottles and the refreshment tray wasn't topped up and still had a ripped sachet of coffee left on it. I had no assurance that the bedding was clean so I slept on top of the duvet with my clothes on and covered the pillow case with my top. Despite living the windows open and turning off the heater, the room temperature still wasn't going down. On Monday morning I mentioned that the room was like a sauna despite living the windows open and the response was the the heat was travelling from the lower levels!!. Also, she told me that breakfast was actually included in my booking. I told her that I was misinformed by her colleague. Again no apology was given.

• Rebecca Anderson (1/5): Avoid this hotel hospitality is shocking rooms are vile food is shocking came out lute warm - Spa facilities were the only good thing about the hotel but rest off the hotel was apauling wouldn't go there for a night stay The room was smelly smelt off dirty dog the floors were dirty room was extremely warm and there was no air-conditioning only 1 little fan that hardly did anything, restaurant in the hotel was shocking booked restaurant at 19:15 didnt get noticed took 45 mins to get acknowledged asked what food we wanted then said we ran out off nearly everything didnt get food till 20:45 fumming on timings off food what made it worse the dessert menu didnt have food allergies on and when questioned staff they said no nuts on the bakewell tart doesn't say nuts on there menu my partner had to test it for me told me to avoid as it had nuts on I said you given me a dish with nuts after I said does it come with nuts on and still charged me for the dessert after making us wait long for food got woken up by dogs barking shouldn't here dogs bark if paid for room with no dogs couldnt sleep and had a long drive home in the morning 3hr 45 min drive I was not impressed the atmosphere was not pleasant in the hotel put me off and made me feel sick very bad experience in this hotel not been treated right and other people who had to wait for food got told they wouldn't get charged for the desserts as to how long made to wait i didnt have that happen and waited way to long with how long I had to wait for food was shocking and yet was still charged for a dessert 38pound I paid I was fumming bad service no remorse for people

The room wasn't really as advertised very dated considering is was advertised as a 4 star i would say more a 2 , considering we paid 250 for 2 nights it cost then a additional 93 for parking and breakfast The shower head had seen better days, bathroom could do with a little work. Would have been nice if there were a couple bottles of water in the room.

• Emma Jennings (10/5): - The room was amazing and the views were out of this world.I came with my 3 year old granddaughter and the staff couldn't do enough for us.They went above and beyond for us they catered for dairy free which was amazing for her.They helped me with extra parking as I took my granddaughter to the kpop all stars we both had an amazing time will definitely be back.I can't thank all the staff enough 5 stars all around from us 😀 There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel

• Sarah (4/5): Very poor and disappointing. - Location of the building but very little else. The breakfast was cold and very poor. Apparently the food delivery was messed up and arrived wrong. Basics were missing such as the Baked Beans. The staff looked extremely overworked and were complained to (about things out of their control). The breakfast room was complete chaos and dirty. The room had a window blocked by a strange wooden panel so we were unable to see out, it felt like we were trapped. The tea and coffee tray within the room was very poor with little milk so we couldn’t make a drink.

It had a great bed and several chairs which is nice. Good breakfast. Friendly staff (and other guests!). There is an indoor pool which we didn't realise so didn't bring our cozzies sadly. Very old TV - no internet. No view from 109.

• Hayley (10/5): A rather grand hotel - The bath was incredible, loved the taps on the side, loved how big the bathroom was, how big the room was, the bed was lovely and comfortable, had plenty of pillows, many lights and many mirrors for the hotel selfie. Felt very luxurious and it was clean aswell no issues at all with the cleaniness. The staff were all very polite and knowledgeable. Can leave luggage before check in Leaflet for a discount at Sea Life. Having to leave 😔

• Kelly (6/5): Good facilities, the room wasn’t great, it should be maybe used for storage or a cleaning cupboard, the location is too - Staff very polite and professional on the reception desk, coffee bar and pool. Breakfast staff, a little rude. The room wasn’t great, right next to a boiler or something that hummed quite loudly and from around 5.30am I could hear the kitchen staff, shouting to each other, which woke me both mornings. The room was tired and not very clean, especially the floors.

• Elizabeth (9/5): A friendly, clean and comfortable hotel - It was clean and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant. The lifts worked well and the reception area was very attractive. Corridor carpets were a bit grubby and the room decor was rather tired. Breakfast was a bit haphazard in the way it was organised. The breakfast room didn't match the historic plush decor of the reception area. I thought some ingredients on offer were of cheaper quality, such as the orange juice, and £15.95 per person was too expensive.

• Wendy (8/5): - Nice enought room, great view Very hard bed making an uncomforable night & painful joints in morning. Room needs redecoration as scuffed walls.
• Sarah (7/5): In general need of freshening up - Great location, bar area nice, excellent staff. Good breakfast En suite was a wet room, bottom of door and door frame was rotten. Only one bedside table for a double room

• Guest (9/5): A good hotel while on the Cleveland Way - - Exceptionally friendly staff, very welcoming on arrival. Very generous room layout, with a big wet room, bath and shower. Evening meal well cooked and tasty. The hotel is a coach holiday hotel - and is a little dated in its structure and fabric. However that didn't detract away from a good overnight stay.

• jennifer (2/5): Would not stay again - Spa was clean and enjoyable room was large good view Room was decorated with damaged furniture unclean dust above bed around fridge area and bin not emptied in bathroom from previous guests with dirty smelly sanitary products inside still awaiting reply from manager about complaint I made on morning we checked out.
