We had an evening meal which was delicious. Breakfast next day was really good. Young man serving was very friendly and efficient. Thank you for a lovely stay. Only 2 tea bags in room.

The room was tired and dated as was the bathroom. The bed was rather soft and the room was not what I expected, nor what I thought an AA four star would be. Breakfast was good in terms of presentation. However, there seemed to be no real flavour to the food nor the coffee.

Long wait to be served for evening meal - over 20 minutes after being seated and then I had to find someone to serve me. The food service staff seemed inexperienced and not one of them checked whether my food was okay or if I needed another drink or if I had allergies. As an Hotel Management Consultant and Staff Assessor I found this disappointing but these issues could be easily rectified with more training
• Joanne (8/5): A nice stay but could have been better - The room was very clean with nice toiletries and a huge tv. The breakfast was a bit hit and miss. The first morning I had smoked salmon with scrambled egg on toast. The toast was cold, the eggs overdone and instead of a slice or 2 of salmon it was tiny diced bits throughout the scrambled egg. Bit disappointing. The next morning I had full English. Again the toast was cold and clearly not being toasted fresh to order. The bacon was very over done. The rest on the plate was ok. The last morning I chose eggs benedict which was lovely. We had dinner on Easter Sunday which was very tasty but could have been presented a bit nicer on the plate. I asked for mustard to go with the roast beef to which I was told sorry we have run out. We were told the lamb had sold out which was understandable as we were eating at 7pm but then half an hour later the table behind us were offered lamb! However the couldn’t get mint sauce as that had run out as well! Overall it was a nice stay but it felt a bit disorganised Breakfast felt a bit disorganised. It didn’t seem like there was enough staff. Tables were left dirty for quite sometime.

Clearly microwave, pre cooked, tin soup. Tinned fruit crumble. Even charged extra £3 for ice cream with crumble and custard, making that cost £11.50 each and the crumble had no taste. Breakfast was cheap juice, cheap non fresh croissant. Pre made salmon and egg mix and cheapest bacon I’ve ever had.

• Amanda (8/5): A beautiful get away in the New Forest - Nestled in the charming hamlet of Bramshaw, The Bell Inn is perfectly located for exploring the New Forest. It’s ideal for scenic walks, golfing (for those who enjoy it), and visiting nearby villages and attractions. The coast is also within easy reach—around 40 minutes away, depending on traffic. Although the hotel sits on a main road with a steady flow of traffic during the day, we found it to be nothing too disruptive for the time of year. A real highlight was seeing horses and donkeys roaming freely nearby, which added a lovely, quintessential New Forest touch—especially when enjoying breakfast or an evening meal. The hotel benefits from a large garden with a selection of complimentary outdoor games, as well as a spacious car park to the rear, shared with the golf club. Dedicated hotel spaces are clearly marked, and even over the busy Easter weekend, we had no trouble finding parking. Inside, the hotel offers a blend of modern and cosy rooms, with a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout. Dining is available in both the bar and restaurant, with a menu featuring a good selection of local fare. We found the food to be delicious and very well prepared—booking is definitely recommended during busier periods. Above all, the young team working during our stay truly stood out. Despite it being a particularly busy weekend, they were attentive, polite, and incredibly hardworking. It was refreshing to experience such genuine hospitality, and they played a big part in making our stay so enjoyable. While we had a wonderful stay overall, there were a few areas where we felt improvements could be made. The shower in our cosy room unfortunately wasn’t working, so we were moved to a modern deluxe room. While the new room was lovely, we did feel the original cosy room had more charm and character. On Good Friday, the bar and restaurant were extremely busy. The team worked hard, but it felt like they could have benefited from an extra pair of hands—particularly with having someone consistently behind the bar. That said, our meal was absolutely worth the wait. It looked as though the hotel has undergone some recent renovations, but a few finishing touches were missing in our room. For example, previously drilled holes in the bathroom hadn’t been filled, and some touch-up paint didn’t quite match the surrounding walls. The pillows were also quite firm for my liking, although I didn’t ask if alternatives were available, which in hindsight I perhaps should have done. The bedroom lighting felt a little unusual. For a large room, the main lighting consisted of multiple cool white spotlights, which made the space feel quite clinical when fully lit. There was only one bedside lamp (with a slightly wobbly shade) and a large floor-standing spotlight, which didn’t quite provide the softer, ambient lighting you’d expect. It was a shame, as the furnishings themselves were modern and stylish, but these small details made the room feel slightly unfinished. Lastly, the wooden windows didn’t provide much sound insulation, and a few didn’t close properly. That said, these points are relatively minor and didn’t take away from what was genuinely a lovely stay. We share them simply as constructive feedback, as this is a beautiful four-star hotel with great potential to be even better.

Breakfast - plenty of choice for hot food, which was cooked well and brought to the table rather than buffet style which we prefer. Room was lovely, spacious with excellent en suite. It faced the golf course so was quiet at night. The pillows could have been better.

Easy parking and with good food in the pub, restaurant you can happily park up and enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner. Staff at breakfast are not attentive enough. They are very pleasant but they are slow to clear tables and be available if you want another drink or a food request. People arrived at breakfast and sat amongst dirty plates.

Despite booking a superior room in a supposedly 4 star hotel the shower was very poor with little or no pressure, despite complaining the first night and being told it would be rectified for the following 2 nights of our stay, which it never was. • Martyn74 (5/5): - Price of room £77 for b&b small double. Dinner... When I checked in c6pm I asked if I needed to book a table was advised no need and food last orders at 8.30pm. Arrived for dinner at 7.30pm to be told kitchen closed and chef will only make sandwiches after some push back was offered a burger or linguine, only management was the chef. So declined as totally unacceptable to be treated in this manner. Thankfully the Green Dragon Inn opposite the Bell was welcoming and served some great food in a lovely pub setting with friendly staff. This I should point out was also where other guests resorted to dine who were on a dinner b&b rate! When the issue was reported I. the morning it was noted, but no apology or forthcoming conversation by any member of management. To top off matters the £20 breakfast which offered Eggs Royale sadly didn't meet expectations due to the over cooked poached eggs that had to be sent back. Thankfully, the waiter was excellent and dealt with matters swiftly. To note Room.10 small double, don't book if you want a room with a view although it may explain why the Tv dominates the room.

Room was fine but we were located on top floor on the road side and was a little noisy 6.30 onward with cars and birds walking around on the roof I assume ..no chance of a lie in so would ask for a room not that side next time.

Spotless clean . Breakfast food was outstanding quality and taste . We got a good price. Complimentary toiletries not as advertised online - pictures need updating. Tea and coffee facilities were very basic for a superior room. The water was tap water in a large bottle , not actual bottled water . Water pressure very low in shower and took forever to warm up. Dirty bowls at breakfast.

The breakfast staff were great and food was excellent Night staff were terrible.....there seemed to be only one staff member working. We waited quite a while to be checked in. After being shown to our room we decided to go to the restaurant for a meal. It wasn't busy. We sat at a table and waited..After a while I went and asked for a menu. The staff member said he would be over. We waited for about 35 minutes....not even a drink order taken....He seemed to be more interested in a table of people in the bar. When he did eventually come over to the restaurant, he started taking an order from a table who had been in for about 5 minutes!!. At that point we decided to leave. The staff member then followed us into the carpark to try and apologize. ...not very professional we went to the pub across the road where we had a lovely meal. We have visited on a few occasions and have always had a good experience.....but not this time

Other standard rooms were bigger for same price.
• Liliana (5/5): The place lacks atmosphere and whilst a great location a pretty poor experience. - Location, streaming services, breakfast was adapted as I am vegan (fresh avacado/sourdough was delicious) thank you Ordered a half portion of gnocchi with side of veg - it was not fresh gnocchi so I left half. The bill was £27, when challenged they said they don’t do half portions and I must pay full price. Eventually they unhappily took payment for a half portion. Bath plug was faulty (didn’t retain water) mattresses were sunken and pillows too hard. Small shower also didn’t work. Glass was stuck to the tray - either sticky cleaning products or glass not been refreshed for some time.

• matthew (4/5): Staff are so friendly and happy to help even when under a lot of pressure - We have stayed at this venue before and the breakfast was great, on this last stay it was very disappointing, very understaffed, poor quality products We had a wonderful stay the previous New Year, this New Year, we decided to stay in a dulux room, the bed was terrible, just 2 single beds pushed together, the bar and restaurant was so short staffed it made you feel like you didn't want to ask for a drink or food. The New Year Gala was advertised as 5 courses, it was only 3. and the quality was no where near as good as the year before. I just felt like it had gone down hill.
