Judith (10/5): Perfect Stay in a Wonderful Location - Junior Suite was so Luxurious! - Our stay at Casa Mariposa Guesthouse was amazing! We stayed in Junior Suite which was just perfect. The room was fantastic: it had a comfortable super king bed with luxurious bedding. There was a small fridge which was filled with complimentary wines, soft drinks and waters. There was a crystal decanter of brandy in the room with a note saying "help yourself". The television in the room had a full comprehensive package of channels to view, including Sky Movies, Sports, TV series etc. Excellent fast Wi-Fi. The room was comfortable at night with black out blinds, quiet ceiling fan and air conditioning if needed. The dressing room was very spacious and had beach towels, extra pillows, cushions and throws to use on our private terrace. The private terrace had two lovely sun loungers and a table and chairs to relax on. The views looking towards the sea were simply stunning. There was a large blind which covered the terrace to provide some much needed shade. Our en-suite was gorgeous, with a beautiful vanity unit, mirror and a huge walk in shower unit. There was complimentary shower gel and soap and a very good hairdryer to use. I particularly liked the matching gowns. The whole of the accommodation is very tasteful and of a high standard. The general feel is very sleek but homely. The breakfast area and terrace, faces the south of the property and is warm and welcoming. There is a breakfast menu to chose from to suit your individual requirements. We chose the continental and were very satisfied with the offerings. In particular, there was homemade bread and fresh croissants. So lovely to relax in a quiet and secluded environment, listening only to the local birds. It was a great start to the day. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. Their communication was excellent. The hosts are very knowledgeable about the local area and Tenerife as a whole. It was very useful to communicate via WhatsApp and send us recommended restaurants and places of... Our stay was too short. We would have liked to have used the top terraces more as it was so lovely to relax in the amazing jacuzzi and watch the stars at night. The views are breath taking. We also enjoyed the other terrace to sit and take some shade. Use of the utility area is allowed and was useful for laundry. We loved the selection of coffees and appreciated the complimentary use of the jacuzzi. Thank you.

Maciej (5/5): Not our cup of tea. - The pension has a fantastic rooftop terrace with a magnificent view , both during the day and at night. The jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace was a nice experience. The bed was very comfortable. Despite being small, the room had a spacious closet. Fresh water and a tea set were provided in the room. The room and the entire property were clean. We were allowed to keep our bicycles inside, which was convenient. The room description on Booking.com was inaccurate. It states: “The hot tub is the standout feature of this double room. The double room features air conditioning, soundproof walls, a terrace with sea views as well as a private bathroom boasting a shower.” In reality, the bathroom was shared, not private - I would not have booked had I known. The hot tub is located on the shared rooftop terrace, not as an exclusive feature of the room, as the description suggests. Additionally, only the first use is free—after that, it costs €10 per use. There are many house rules regarding lights, locks, and restrictions, including a strict policy against bringing external food (guests are instead encouraged to buy breakfast). Cameras are installed in all common areas, including one pointing at the hot tub, which is ethically questionable and significantly limits privacy. The host requested an excessive fee for charging an e-bike (€7/day), while the actual electricity cost was around €0.10/day. I refused to pay this fee. Overall, despite the positive aspects of the property, we did not feel fully comfortable due to the misleading descriptions, strict rules, and lack of privacy.
Nea (10/5): Exceptional - Room was very clean, also bathroom. One evening the owner cooked amazing private dinner for us. Watching the sunset from the hot thub after all day hikeing was perfect! If you don't want to be in place that has conquered by tourist this is your place!

Claire (1/5): Avoid at every cost this property is a fraud ‼️🛑‼️‼️don’t stay and be disappointed - . We got to the property that said we had our own hot tub on our own balcony! And see view . Which was stated in our room ! In the advert of the room on booking .com We couldn’t even sit on the balcony and had to bend our heads to see the sea ! The owner was rude and said we had to pay for the hot tub hourly even after our room stated that was the perk of our room which I paid for . Which I complained about and she said that’s not her responsibility! Even declined when I left to refund the days I didn’t stay . The hot tub was not in the room it was 2 sets of floors up and I have a disability and have a blue badge ! The owner is a fraud ! 🛑‼️🛑‼️ do not stay here there are no shops near by it’s a 5 mile walk ! No milk in the room for tea and the owner is rude ! And she states you receive complementary toilet ! Which in reality are half used bottles she should be ashamed!

Vicky (8/5): Wonderful views and luxury feeling with jacuzzi! - Kerry and Dean are lovely people with a warm heart and they want to give their guests a great experience. The jacuzzi is amazing. I highly recommend reserving it at sunset, it will be a wonderful experience. Also the village San Juan is close by, and wonderful. There are some house rules that keep everything structured such as not bringing food in and drying towels on the drying rack. Everything is sparkling clean, and if you have a question Kerry is always available on WhatsApp and happy to help where possible.
Alexander (1/5): Worst hotel experience. - Weather Warning. Avoid this hotel if you want to have a good vacation. Read the reviews with 1 or 2 star, that corresponds to the truth. They tried to extort a positive review from us on Booking.com. After booking, you have to transfer 150€ deposit to a private bank account in Spain, otherwise you will not get into the apartment. Check-in only between 4pm and 6pm, otherwise you pay a penalty. After check-out, my wife and her mother were accused of smearing the sheets with food. Photos with old stains were sent via Whatsapp. This is a lie and when my wife complained and also noted that the photos showed very old stains, the lady said that they were now urine stains! Honestly, if we had made the stains, we would have written a positive review and got the deposit of 150€ back. But we do not want to support something like this and therefore an urgent warning from Casa Mariposa Guesthouse. - The "hotel" is a private house, you share almost all areas with the owners - Tiny room for 100€ per night - It is very noisy and there are cameras everywhere in the house. If you are looking for privacy, you are in the wrong place - The photos are misleading as they suggest that you have a terrace with a jacuzzi. There is a terrace, but it is the owners' private terrace - Whirlpool costs extra - Air conditioning also costs €5 per night - The bathroom has to be shared with other guests, it was not cleaned once in a week - Food not allowed in the room - No supermarket in the village - Only one pizzeria in the village (from 7pm), otherwise no possibility to eat There are many more points that could be mentioned here. It is the worst "hotel" experience my wife has ever had.
Marianna (10/5): Exceptional - perfect ! :) ..till today I dream about Tenerife :) My stay in the Junior Suite was amazing. The room had everything I needed and was prestine clean. There were many luxuries such as mini bar, bath robes, fluffy towels, toiletries, new very confortable large double bed....amazing good bed! :) The television was excellent with numerous channels. The complimentary decanter of brandy was a lovely addition. As a cyclist, I was able to leave my bike securely. There are lots of good routes to cycle. Rent a bike in freemotion shop and very nice guide Massimo and Thomas. The facilities are excellent, I had my own private balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The views are stunning and the area is very peaceful and enables you to relax. Kerry and Dean are very good hosts and try to accommodate all your needs. They are very knowledgeable about Tenerife and neighbouring islands....and good restaurants!:) Aldo there are two sunbeds with table for morning coffee on terace, beautifull sunrise and sun sets, great views of ocean and moutains, very nice weather 28 -29 degrees, amazing Teide mountain hiking, but good to rent a car to reach each part of Tenerife. Casa Mariposa have very good position from where you can go everywhere. Overall, my stay here was excellent and I would definitely like to come back here.

Bob-leon (2/5): Skip if you can, if you don’t want feel like an outlaw - To start: we carefully wrote this review and compared this with the documented info of the accommodation. What we liked: the terraces with a nice view. Quiet location. The accommodation was clean. It is an accommodation with potential: it could be nice when the host does not create an atmosphere of distrust with cameras and extra charges for almost everything you can think of. Extra charges, not mentioned in the description at booking.com: • New towels: €15 (and not permitted to use for sunbathing/spa) • New bed linen: €20 • Jaccuzi: is only included once, for subsequent times you have to pay €5 p.p., per hour. Also, the Jacuzzi may not be used from 7 pm. • Check in outside 4 and 6 pm: €25 if you want to arrive earlier/later (check in times are noted in the description, but the additional charge is not. That is mentioned in a 'welcome' message you receive by WhatsApp after booking. • (Use of Air Conditioning: €5/night - extra charge is mentioned in the description) Other information that could be corrected in the description: • 'Camera security outside': They are also inside. • 'Playa San Juan is at walking distance'. Yes, of course, you can walk, but it will take you more than an hour. To go back to the accommodation it’s 3.1 km uphill. • 'Laundry service' should be a service at additional charge, but when we asked if the washing machine could be used, this was denied. • 'Invoice is provided': an invoice of the deposit and/or accommodation was not possible. Not conform EU-law: • We are willing to present an ID with photo upon check-in, as stated in the description. However, the host insists on making a photo of this and prefers to receive it in advance. This is not required by EU law. EU-law: on need to know basis. This was the only accommodation in Spain who acted like this. We paid €95/night excl. breakfast. We have stayed in different accommodations on Tenerife with much better value for money. • Very noisy and small room. Right next to it is another guest room and you have to whisper so as not to hear/wake each other up. It feels like sleeping in a dorm. • We felt uncomfortable because of all the cameras. Especially the one on the terrace with the jacuzzi, where you can be seen in swimwear. In the description is stated under 'Security' that there are cameras outside, but they are also inside, which is not mentioned. • The music downstairs turned on very loudly after 10 pm while all host were on holiday (due to remote controlled domotics). No apologies when reported, but apparently a check on the cameras and the question if we wanted to turn off a light. The cameras are therefore not only viewed afterwards if there is damage somewhere, but also active during the stay. • We have read in reviews about a warm welcome, but we were not even offered a welcome drink, which you would expect then. And we also read that a complimentary bottle of wine / cava would be included, but we were not offered that either. • Poor and much too expensive breakfast (€11): smashed croissants, little toppings and only 1 slice of bread per person. No freshly made juice as in the pictures, no cake, no fresh fruit, no yoghurt, no pancakes and no one there to replenish the unlimited juice and coffee. Additional charge for Luxury breakfast was charged. Also not correct in the description: 'Breakfast is served every morning.' It was only available the 1st day, and after preparing it the hosts left for holiday. (But after the first breakfast, we would not have wanted to purchase another breakfast here) • The kitchen downstairs is not to be used, upstairs is a room with a sink and a refrigerator, but in that room only glasses are provided. No plates or cutlery. It is therefore difficult to be able to eat a small bite at the accommodation yourself. • Very poor WIFI quality. (The host calls it "Very good".

Alice (9/5): Comfortable & friendly - Lovely hosts, very confortable matress, everything pristine clean and new, loved the roof top jacuzzi (had a bubbly session while watching the starry sky at night)! Liked the confortable huge bathroom. Good price for accomodation. The position of the accomodation if you don't have a car. 30 min walk till the bus stop for going to the beaches. The idea of a shared bathroom, but we didn't really feel it, especially as it was pristine clean all the time. Room was a bit small but good and cozy.
Peter (10/5): Highly recommended: One of the best B&B I ever stayed in - Kerry & Dean are awesome hosts. The reception was really nice, the house & rooms are clean and there is even a Jacuzzi to relax in. The best part was: they made me feel like I was part of their home. Chatting with me, giving tips for sightseeing and checking in how I was doing (when I got back home). Meanwhile also arranging breakfast, putting drinks for me in the fridge and so much more. Very highly recommended!
