- Kate (8/5): - Lovely village. Easy walk into Centre. I’m always intrigued why when you book a double room you only get one chair! This is not confined to this accommodation.
- David (8/5): Good place to stay - Great location and a good car park. Beds very comfortable and a very good price. Breakfast was very good. Could do with a refresh to the rooms an communal areas.
- Lars Erik (6/5): Utmärkt service och bra läge nära centrum. - Läget och goda parkeringsmöjligheter Hårda sängar
- JANICE (8/5): - The location was excellent with a 5 mins walk into the town.
Free on site parking was a plus.
Great room with river views room no 3. The hotel didn't do evening meals.
- Paul (9/5): Excellent - I attended a birthday party held there, the staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly Just one little minor thing ,no tray in shower for shampoo, soap etc
- Kate (9/5): - Really friendly helpful staff.
We had a very comfortable night sleep, and a superb breakfast with plenty of choice and all freshly cooked.
Facilities at the hotel were very good, with a well stocked bar and plenty of space to sit and relax. There was nothing we didnt like, but we should have asked for a room with a walk in shower rather than an over the bath shower as my husband has limited mobility.
- Lyn (7/5): Food catering, cleanliness and staff all fantastic. - Attended an 80th birthday party room and food was amazing. Staff very helpful especially in the storing of the cake. Booking in and out was fast and was made to feel welcome.. the breakfast again was fabulous and the servers 1st class, the cooked breakfast was hot and the cereal table was topped up frequently. No waiting for tea or coffee either. Called the day before to see if there was an iron and ironing board in the room to be told we will make sure there's one there for when you book in. There wasn't, and I had to call Reception twice as it had been used in another room and then placed in an incorrect room. I maybe wrong but surely there's more than 1 iron and ironing board..maybe not.
- Richard (10/5): There for a birthday party during the day and stayed the night. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. - Fabulous friendly staff. Lovely breakfast Bed a little hard but ok
- Jill (8/5): Ideal for visiting Rye - Close to the centre . Tidy hotel with nice staff .
- Carmel (10/5): Excellent location, lovely staff, great place - Had a great stay, liked everything, great location, friendly and warm staff, comfy bed, lovely breakfast, nice environment, definitely would stay again Loved it all
- Francois (7/5): - Bon rapport qualité prix
- Howard (8/5): Good location for our bike ride around Kent - great breakfast menu - lovely staff - Good location - just across the river from the main town Was all good
- Peter (8/5): For us it is the ideal spot to stay when in Rye. - Diana and the whole team are very good hosts that make you feel welcome from the check-in moment.
The River Haven may have aged a little, but everything is working, and the staff makes sure evrything is clean.
Breakfast offers several options, nobody has to leave hungry in the morning. We have never stayed there in summer, so if you depend on AC - there are small vents available.
- Jon (5/5): Breakfast was good. Room needs updating. Staff were friendly. - Location was close to the town and with parking Bathroom was tired with mould on wall near ceiling. Paint peeling on wall. Silver fish appeared in bath on day 2. Bed was uncomfortable. Noisy from road.
- Clemens (6/5): Teleurstellend - De locatie is helemaal prima.
- Denise (4/5): Convenient for stay in Rye - The position on the outskirts of Rye was very good
Big carpark with plenty of space
Outside space by river was good but restaurant closed It all seemed a bit tired and run down
No food in restaurant
- Philip (8/5): -
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Silke (7/5): Sauber u gute Lage - Die Lage, Parkmöglichkeiten und das nette Personal. Matratzen bequem, sauber.
- Susan (8/5): - Short walk into town. Good parking. Big bright room with comfortable bed
Good breakfast The shower
- Lynne (8/5): -
- stephen (8/5): - Staff very nice. Room clean. Breakfast good. Poor flow in shower and head needed a clean/descale.
- Susan (7/5): Pleasant stay but probably better alternatives nearby - The appearance of the hotel from the outside is a bit unremarkable but the dining area was pleasant and the bedroom better than we thought it would be from the hotel’s general appearance. The rooms were freshly decorated - they hadn’t tried too hard which is a plus from our point of view) and had everything you needed for a comfortable overnight stay. The breakfast was nice but the ingredients were not particularly good quality.
I think the stay was a bit pricey for the offering. A bit too expensive for the quality of hotel.
- Ken (9/5): Happy stay - Very clean .friendly staff we had to come home
- William (8/5): - I spent only a short time in the hotel, but it was very acceptable.
- Cat (7/5): FRIENDLY STAY! - Staff were lovely and attentive. Shower is not very powerfu. Had to ask for water for our room although this was not an issue for them.
- Cornelis W L (8/5): Prima locatie vlak bij het centrum - Het ontbijt is prima verder een prima locatie vlak bij het centrum, Een eigen parkeerplaats en vriendelijk personeel. Niets
- Martin (8/5): Perfectly pleasant - Well cooked in a large room ie plenty of space Bit more choice of foodstuffs before the hot meal ie croissants or muesli skimmed milk etc
- Melvyn (8/5): Good location, good rooms and breakfast, would be nice to be able to get an evening meal as well. - A well-placed hotel that allows you too easily access Rye and its associated restaurants and the historic town centre. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was reasonable and delivered in a timely manner. The only downside is that the hotel does not have its own restaurant for evening meals, I had forgotten this when arriving late on the first night.
- Mike (8/5): Overall, we had a relaxing night, a good breakfast and the staff were lovely. - The hotel was clean and relaxing. The room was of a good size. Breakfast was fantastic and the service was personable, pleasant and efficient. my goodness the floorboards under the carpet creaked like anything which was really entertaining for this particular stay. The walk into town was only a couple of minutes, with some great attractions only a moment away. The bathroom extractor fan sounded like someone was trying to drill through the roof of the building. There was no air conditioning.
- Dunne (8/5): - Perfect position being next to the river.
Really nice staff and a great breakfast
- Ruth (8/5): Good - Nice, bright and clean. Staff efficient and friendly. Bar staff knew their craft. Bedroom bright and comfortable. Good night’s sleep. Breakfast good.
- Julie (10/5): -
- Meike (8/5): Kurzer Weg in die Stadt - Sehr gute Lage am Kanal, um mit Hund eine Runde zu drehen! Sehr nettes Personal und gutes Frühstück. Zimmerausstattung etwas in die Jahre gekommen
- Kaya (9/5): 10 minutes walk to centre - All staff the were great and very friendly. Room was very clean. Location was easy to find and had free parking. Breakfast was cooked to order and plenty of choice. Taps to bath did not work but I manage to fill the bath using the overhead shower which worked out. Bed was a little too soft for me.
- Nick (10/5): -
- Vasiliya (10/5): -
- Kim (8/5): -
- abhishek (9/5): - Great stay, everything was comfortable. Nothing as such, all well
- Kim (10/5): -
- Michelle (6/5): Hotel with good location but needed upgrades, did not meet expectations for price paid. - Location of hotel was good. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was good. Room was very basic, overlooking car park. Lack of double glazing & unlined curtains, no blackout blinds meant that traffic noise was very noticeable & room was light from sunrise which made sleeping difficult.
Toilet roll holder broken in bathroom so toilet roll kept falling on floor.
- Sue (8/5): Enjoyable stay in a good location. A few niggles outweighed by pleasant staff. - Good location - free parking & an easy walk into the town centre. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly & helpful. Lighting in bedroom was good with lights well- placed. As was mirror. The bathroom was very ‘tired’. Loo flush cover was missing & shaver socket didn’t work. Luckily we took an adapter.
Although bedroom was comfortable, there were no curtains, just an ill-fitting blind which didn’t keep out the early morning sunshine.
- Karolina (10/5): A wonderful stay complemented by excellent, attentive customer care. - A spacious room with a very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean, and fresh bedding and towels provided. The location is excellent and just a five-minute walk to the main town. Breakfast was fantastic and clearly prepared with care. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and always happy to help. The bathroom and shower could do with a bit of TLC, and there were quite a few cobwebs. However, this didn’t affect our stay overall.
- Gktea (8/5): -
- Estelle (8/5): - Breakfast Noise at night
- Rosalind (7/5): We enjoyed our stay but it was the location of the hotel and the friendly reception staff that really excelled. - Very good location with plenty of parking space. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The bedroom was a decent size with plenty of storage. The bed was really comfortable and a fan and portable heater were provided for added comfort if needed. The window catch in the bedroom was broken and the shower was quite weak. The extractor fan wasn’t working efficiently.

- Helen (6/5): - The best thing about River Hsven was the friendly helpful staff. The cooked breakfasts were very good. It was great to have parking and the room serviced every day. No decent coffee at breakfast. Maybe invest in a coffee machine. The hotel needs updating generally decor wise.
- Roden (8/5): Very good value and in a great location for visiting Rye, - A friendly welcome. Well sized clean and airy room. Great breakfast. Clearly a popular and busy hotel but well run. Great location- within walking distance of both the centre of Rye and very close to Rye harbour. Plenty of free parking. Felt safe both in and around the hotel walking back at night.
- Colin (9/5): - All facilities were very good and the staff very helpful Nothing
- Christina (8/5): A lovely relaxing stay by the river - The location was perfect. A short walk along the river and you’re in Rye. The room was very comfortable and spacious.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
There was plenty of choice at breakfast. We chose a full English which was delicious. The breakfast room is bright and airy and there’s an outside seating area to relax afterwards.
All set on the river. What’s not to love 😊 The window in our room didn’t shut tight and, as we stayed when it was very windy, there was a cold draft. I did put the heating on and the room soon warmed up.
- Petra (9/5): Prima locatie voor een overnachting - Ligging midden in Rye Erg smal bed, 140 cm
- Sarah (8/5): Great value and location - Great location, just 5 mins walk from Rye centre. Very welcoming and attentive staff. Good sized room. No light switch on one side of the bed, no sockets on either side, but a good excuse to put the phone away :)
- Charlotte (8/5): -
- SUZANNE (5/5): Very unmemorable - The breakfast was good The room was in need of an upgrade. Everywhere you walked on the floor was creaking. There was no fridge and the bathroom extractor fan was extremely noisy. The toilet system had some problem with it as it kept sounding as if somebody was using the toilet to spend a penny so we were not impressed. The shower and surroundings had a lot of black mould which is very distasteful. I would not recommend this hotel unless it has an upgrade and the cleaners know how to clean.
- john (8/5): Very enjoyable - Clean room on the ground floor so convenient with the dog. Friendly staff good breakfast and a five minute walk into Rye Nothing
- Helen (9/5): We will definitely stay again - Very very friendly with a great location and super value for money. The bed was uber comfortable!!!! Tired in some areas.
- Éric (8/5): -
- Nigel (9/5): Lovely stay at River Haven - Comfortable, quiet and nice sized room. Really good, friendly and helpful staff. Splendid breakfast Nothing disliked
- Michael (8/5): Great location, pleasant but basic room and decent value for money. - Nothing to dislike, for the price. Basic, clean and as much or beyond what we'd expected. Nothing really, although bit tired around the edges. It's a bit of an 80's motel, and there's only so much you can do about that - although the location is very handy for Rye's centre which was a good factor in staying there.

- Roden (8/5): A reasonably priced, well located, reliable hotel - Very close to the centre of Rye. Plenty of onsite free parking. Quiet location. Clean. Welcoming. Good breakfast included in the booking price. Clean, comfortable room. Plenty of hanging space and storage. The bed could have a better mattress. The water pressure in the shower is poor.
- Andrea (6/5): It was a comfortable stay with decent size room and pleasant surroundings but a bit tired and lacking attention to detai - Was a great location easy access and a lovely situation facing the river and town.
Restaurant was clean bright and looked lovely as did bar area Was a bit tired and it sounded like someone was outside our door.
A bit more attention to detail on cleaning.
Breakfast was basic and could have done with a few more quality ingredients bread was thin and cheap would have elevated if had been a thicker cut or a farm loaf.
The avocado tasted synthetic and didn’t have any chilli in as advertised I did question this and was offered to add some myself. It may seem picky but when they advertised people to go just for breakfast the offering needs to be a better standard to visit.
- Steve (9/5): - Location. Short walk into town NA
- Michaela (9/5): - Great location lovely hotel Nothing
- Anna (9/5): - Even it is on the other side of the river, it was still walkable to all the spots and the station.
The room was also pretty and quiet.
Eating breakfast seeing old town and river was lovely experience. The bridge to the city center is a bit of a walk and I had to go there every time. But it was a fair trade-off as the beautiful riverside location made it all worth it.
- Patricia (10/5): We had a lovely couple of nights at the river haven hotel. The staff were extremely helpful. - An excellent breakfast! Lovely sunny dining room looking over the river. All food cooked freshly to order and plenty of choice. Nothing not to like!
- Samantha (7/5): Lovely weekend - Location great A bit old fashioned
- Chris (6/5): It fulfilled our needs - Functional Spartan and old fashion
- Heidi (8/5): Ideal for an overnight break - Location and friendly staff No towels in room
- Davis (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, the breakfast was very tasty . I would have liked to be able to have an evening meal at the hotel, all the restaurant in town were fully booked so we ended up in a burger bar which was not what I had in mind.
- Angelique (8/5): - La localisation, la deco La literie
- Graham (7/5): An enjoyable couple of days in Rye at this hotel, would have used restaurant in evenings and lunchtime on arrival day if - Location to town centre Restaurant only open for breakfasts
- Dirk (7/5): -
- Susie (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Simple but very clean comfortable room.
Also really good to have the car parking facilities. Slightly dated in parts.
- Mullins (8/5): - Excellent location for exploring Rye. Very quiet room overlooking the river.
Very good cooked breakfast.
Brilliant staff and very dog friendly. Bed was to soft with a memory foam mattress.
- Vicki (9/5): -
- Dawn (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff
- jayn (8/5): - location Room overlooked a fence.
- Noelle (9/5): A very pleasant weekend - The location was very convenient to visit Rye and all personnel was welcoming and extremely friendly. The rooms were spacious. No walk-in shower
- Kenneth (9/5): - We have stayed here many times the Hotel is a perfect location for visiting in and around Rye, it is a comfortable stay with friendly helpful staff. Nothing
- Fiona (10/5): - All staff were lovely & friendly. Very clean. Lovely breakfast.
- Diana (8/5): Excellent value for money - An excellent value for money. It is only 10 minutes walk to the main street in Rye, and it has a car park. We checked out and they let us keep the car parked there for some hours. The room is comfortable with a view to the canal and boats.
The hotel is on a main road, but we didn’t hear any noise or traffic at night.
- Fiona (9/5): - Great location and really friendly staff.
- Susan (8/5): Rye - Great location, on the river and walking distance to the town.
Breakfast very good. Not much in the way of toiletries, not keen on a bar of soap, prefer liquid.
- Sharna (8/5): Lovely staff, great location and lovely place to stay for a short break in Rye. - The location, the staff and the size of the room Shower wasn’t very strong and the property is a little outdated but for price was fair!
- NORMA (9/5): Very enjoyable stay, staff friendly & helpful. - Breakfast perfect
Location was convenient for town Nothing to do with the hotel but a shame there was no water to look out at.
