- Manuel Jonathan santos (9/5): SUPER PRECIO - EL PRECIO SUPER, SOLO LE FALTA ALGO DE MANTENIMIENTO ME GUSTO MUCHO SOLO EL PROBLEMA CON EL RECEPCIONISTA QUE NOMBRE CASI NOS GOLPEA SUPER MALA ACTITUD, NO TENIAMOS INTERNET
- Raven (3/5): Has potential to be great, but gross and will not be coming back. - The staff was incredible at the bar and at the restaurant. They were eager to help and provided great service each time we were there. The cleaning lady was also very good. She organized my stuff on the vanity and went above and beyond. This place was run down and dirty. I’m out last night, the resort ran out of water. We were unable to take a shower, wash our hands or use the toilets. When approaching the front desk about it, they simply brushed it off and offered no solution. Incredibly poor reaction to a very serious issue when you’re paying lots of money to stay somewhere.
There was a massive crack alongside the balcony pool and a bunch of tiles missing so we didn’t use it. Lots of things in the room need to be replaced. The toilets in the common area were clogged and barely worked. The one had no toilet paper dispenser. The pool was missing lots of tiles and had lots of floaties in it. Just all around very dirty.
- Neil (9/5): Great value hotel with excellent staff and service, great location and good food. We loved it! - You may be aware that this hotel has had some bad reviews, mixed in with some good ones (like this one).
If, like me, you have decided to book the hotel and managed to get it at a much cheaper rate than other similar all-inclusive hotels in the area I would urge you to go for it! We had a great 3 night stay at Senses and wish we could have stayed longer.
Our Ocean Front Suite was on the third floor with great views of the ocean, pool and neighbouring beach.
The room was MASSIVE (probably the largest hotel room we've ever stayed at). It had a kitchen area, dressing room/clothes storage, safe, iron, hairdryer, huge walk-in rainfall shower, spa bath/hot-tub, extra large bed with large Smart TV, sofa/seating area, big balcony with sun loungers and plunge pool (this pool was empty - we were told to request if we wanted it filled, but to be honest we wouldn't have used it anyway so we didn't care).
The check-in area is really impressive and the staff told us everything we needed to know. We were showed to our room and given some useful information about the hotel. We were delighted to see a chilled bottle of Spanish sparkiling wine and chocolates left in the room for our arrival - such a lovely touch!
The fridge was filled with mineral water, soft drinks and beers and was re-stocked daily.
The hotel has direct access to the beach, but doesn't have it's own private beach. It does have a large infinity pool though which is great, and also a Pool bar/restaurant with very attentive staff.
We booked a snorkelling trip at Dressel Divers (literally a 1 minute walk along the beach from the hotel). The snorkelling was good, not excellent, but we saw plenty of fish, a couple of turtles, some rays and eels so well worth the trip on the catamaran.
There's a lovely rooftop restaurant with great views for breakfast and dinner.
This is a small hotel (38 rooms?) so don't expect entertainment, parties, etc., just enjoy the ambience! As previous reviews mention, the hotel isn't exactly pristine. Our room had a couple of areas that could do with some TLC - eg. a fresh lick of paint here and there, a replacement bathroom mirror and a cupboard door was a bit loose! Nothing that spoiled our holiday though.
- Dr. Waldemar (10/5): Right place to stay! - TOP Hotel, Servie, People!
- Jack (8/5): The rooms are really great if a bit run down! Very large - The Price was good It was a bit run down
- Rafael (9/5): The service was very good and the staff is very friendly, excellent restaurant service. - Rooms very comfortable and clean, very good maintenance. The hotel was not in front of the beach but in front of the rocks and I had to walk to the next property.
- Jayda (8/5): -
- Gero (8/5): -
- Andrey (10/5): - Great food, stuff and location
- elizabethdC7965PB (8/5): Pleasantly Surprised - I had read several reviews of this resort before going. Some good some not so good which made me nervous. My husband and I have spent the last 10 days here. For the money it is unbelievable!!! I have never had a view like this and it is from every room. Our room was kept very clean! Food service and drinks were wonderful! The only reason I did not give them a 5 star review was because I had a couple breakfasts where I didn’t get exactly what I ordered and service was a little slow. Our hotel room was huge. The pool could use a little work but that was not a big deal. I hate to leave and would come back in a heartbeat!
- Renea (4/5): :-/ - My housekeeper The location how it’s hard to drive to the resort and get out of the resort it didn’t have an ATM machine and the taxi drivers are very expensive to get to the nearest ATM machine. It says that you can relax nude on the resort but the guys act like they’ve never seen it done before. Everything is really slow there. It takes a long time to get anything done. There aren’t enough activities. It’s really mainly for couples who just want to sleep and have sex.
- 749waldemarl (6/5): Disappointed - This could bee amazing hotel but it’s lacking of maintenance and attention details
Only plus it’s all rooms are see view and it’s quite location
- 722reanag (10/5): Relaxing/ amazing - If you are looking for a quiet/relaxing getaway, this is the perfect spot for it!! Everyone was very welcoming and very attentive. The food is AMAZING!! The restaurant staff were super sweet, especially Christian. Took care of us from start to finish, with a smile on his face!!
Thank you to everyone!!
- X4042NIcamilar (10/5): Very good - Everything was lovely, I was delighted with the service, excellent treatment and attention, highly recommended ✨, we were served by a very friendly waiter named Cristhian, the 5 days we were there were excellent 🙏🏻
- Rachel (9/5): Enjoye the privacy and the water views, but be flexible with the facilities. - This the second time staying here. We loved the quietness and limited guests on property. The location with a private beach access on the north is a plus too. The elevator was down 1/3 of the time. The cocktails were not consistent. Some were great but others too bad to drink.
We did not have hot water half of our stay. The plumbing needs attention. The sink was leaking as well as the shower head.
- 66emadf (10/5): Great customer service - Service was great and staff is very friendly big shout out to chris from the night and Jose from the morning team great staff and very friendly service
- russellgJ392JX (10/5): Great romantic getaway. - The hotel is small and quite perfect for couples. The service was fantastic shoutout to Christian our waiter and bartender and all his staff. We never went without. Food was great and perfect presentation and portions. Housekeeping and front end staff were excellent as well.
- silvia (8/5): -
- kellie685 (4/5): Senses Hotel is in Disrepair - We visited Senses for one night only. We enjoyed the proximity to Cirque du Soleil.
It is difficult to tell from the photos, but the place is very run down and neglected. We had five rooms in total. One had a leaky sink and the counter was all wet, another had plugs that pulled out of the wall. Our tub wouldn't drain. Two of the rooms had patio doors that wouldn't lock. One couple woke up to pipes bursting in the night and being sprinkled with water. The hotel reacted quickly and relocated them to another room.
The worst part was the restaurant. There were signs up across one of the doors stating that they had received multiple health code violations. We had our breakfast included so we did eat there, despite some hesitation (very few other options in the area). The food was terrible and service was extremely slow. My daughter found plastic in her food.
Be warned.
The location is nice and I did enjoy the beach to the left of the hotel. We swam both days we were there and had the beach to ourselves. The other beach, to the right, had many people in the water. We appreciated the quiet and privacy of the beach we chose.
- Aleksandra (9/5): Thank you very much for having us - The food was delicious. All staff members were very polite and friendly. Smell in our room was not nice . Probably the air condition wasn’t cleaned
- 770baileyr (10/5): 10/10 recommend - My husband and I absolutely loved this resort! The staff is super friendly and they get to know you on a personal level. Christian and Pedro are absolute sweethearts and made our stay even more enjoyable! The Resort’s Hospitality was absolutely fantastic, 10/10 recommend this resort!
- F3290ZKmollya (10/5): Fantastic. - The hotel is beautiful and located right on the beach, I took my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday but the hotel seemed to have more honey moon guests.
The staff are all extremely friendly and nothing is a problem for them - they are very happy to help and make conversation.
The rooms are cleaned daily and to a good level, the pool is a good temperature but does have a lot of tiles missing.
The food is very nice and is different every night, all inclusive is definitely worth the money.
I will be saving my money up to return this hotel in the future, Thankyou for the kindness and friendly smiles of Christian, Pédro, Victoria and Santiago.
Molly and jack x
- 444sarajanev (10/5): Amazing stay - We had a wonderful time. This resort was clean friendly and the service was impeccable. Christian was the most amazing helpful and attentive server we could've asked for. He took very good care of us each night and knew exactly what we needed before we asked. Wonderful job Christian and the rest of the senses crew. We will be back.
- 59mikab (10/5): My boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at The Sense Riviera Maya - We had an amazing stay. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Christian, Pedro, and Danielle made us feel so welcome, and the housekeeping staff kept everything spotless and comfortable. The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, giving us plenty of room to relax. We especially loved the infinity pool with its breathtaking views and the private beach that felt like our own slice of paradise. On top of that, the food was outstanding, with every meal exceeding our expectations in both flavor and presentation. Overall, it was a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and warm hospitality, and we left already dreaming about our next visit.
- K2579XPcj (2/5): They didn’t even try.. - Power outage. Lied about it. No power, no washroom, no service, no restaurant, no food, no room fob/key, no internet or signal to call taxi. Location too far from anything to even go walk. After whole night and day with nothing, we checked out and they promised full refund. No refund and after a whole year of booking.com claims and bank disputes, got our money back thru arbitration..
- Eamonn (9/5): Great for a short break to relax - A small boutique hotel was perfect for us. Peaceful with great views of the ocean. The rooms were very large with a jacuzzi bath in the balcony and a plunge pool on the balcony Only negative I could think of was maybe some light entertainment or music for entertainment during the evening.
- W6565ECangelinam (10/5): Christian and the Fantastic Hotel Staff - Fantastic staff and personnel.
Christian (the bar tender) in particular in the main restaurant was absolutely amazing.
Kayaking in the ocean was very fun.
The kitchen in the honeymoon suite is great and very useful to have.
- Xochitl Jazmin (7/5): - La habitación,esta fantástica.
- Carl (6/5): Pleasant, but could have been so much better. - Good price and nice and quiet location. Good private and public beach each side. Friendly staff. Lovely room facing to sea - would have been excellent had it not been for the problems and worn parts of room and hotel. Unclear instructions for room equipment and hotel facilities.
Worn out pool -breaking apart.
Mix up with payments, failures by breakfast waiters, no hand towels, broken loft, leaking water on ceiling. Grubby balcony private pool.
- Jeffrey (1/5): - The food was good So many problems, we booked a room with 2 beds and only got a one bed room. We are here for a wedding next door and we had friends come to the bar with us and the security refused to let them leave via the beach exit. We were forced to drive them out of the hotel after drinking all night. The room had a pool on the deck that we asked to have filled and it was never done. The hot tubs were all broken, 4 of them. I definitely would recommend avoiding this hotel.
- Tonjania (10/5): - Nice and quiet
- William (6/5): - Hotel was without power or running water for over 24 hours
- Daaiyah (8/5): - Small quiet place limited food tho
- Yoselyn Ibbette (8/5): - Loved the stay & the staff, the property needs some renovations & a better food menu but over all we had a great time & the service was super friendly!
- Delbert (10/5): - I am a review reader....and the reviews that this place gets are just not accurate....This place is a hidden gem...We stayed here 4 nights and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us...the food was EXCELLENT....our room was awesome...The room ohotos are exactly as pictured...If youre looking for the party crowd....this aint it....but if youre a couple and want to spend some nice romantic alone time....this is your place...I went against my norm and gave this place a chance despite some of the reviews....and im glad I did.....THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT .
- brianfM8755GE (2/5): final trip ever - other than the staff this entire place is a sham scam theives, was 5th trip here and the new management especially Abel total con artist avoidence of guests, can't be gotten ahold of, the previous 4 trrips were super but the deception on this final trip ended any business we will ever do again with any artisan senses hotel, traveler beware!!!!!!
- joelinne (10/5): Looking for a tranquil, no frills hotel with an amazing ocean view on a budget? Look no further, perfect for solo travelers and - We stayed here at this resort for one night and booked the honeymoon suite. One night was enough for us since there was really not much to do there. They only have one pool, one restaurant , and one bar/snack area. No activities that we saw. We opted for the All inclusive option.
Pros:
No timeshare wolves 🐺💸: The relief of staying somewhere in the cancun/riviera maya area without no timeshare people or upselling is a true relief. No need to avoid them here. Iykyk.
Very peaceful 🧘♂️🪷: This is an adults only property, coupled with the fact that they have less than 40 rooms on property, it makes this place ideal for honeymooners on a budget. It is also great for those that want a quiet and peaceful vacation away from noise and big groups of people. While we were here there were several solo travelers and probably an equal amount of couples. Not many people check in at any one time. The day we left there was only one other person checking in. Maybe a total of 20 people staying in the hotel at the time and that is a stretch.
The view 🌅: Stunning. We woke up early to see the sunrise and it was spectacular. You can see it right from your room and you really cant beat the price for the view.
The Room🚪🛏: Spacious and clean. Not sure what was that the other reviews encountered, but our room was clean. The shower tiles were very clean and there was no mold. What I noticed is that every room has a plunge pool/ jacuzzi on the balcony. However you need to let them know if you are going to use it so they can fill it up for you. The hotel is dated so there will be loose tiles in your plunge pool. I did not use it for this reason. I did use the bathroom jacuzzi.
If you are staying for a long period of time and opted out of the all inclusive option, you can use the kitchen that is included in the room. Not sure what the other categories of rooms have but ours had a kitchen that was triple the size of an nyc apartment kitchen equipped with an electric stove, mini fridge, 4 chair dining table and a full size sink.
Customer Service👨🍳👨🌾: Everyone here deserves a raise. Not sure what is going on there, but since this is a small hotel everyone here wears different hats sort of speak. An example would be; I needed a wine bottle opened in our room and they sent the bartender from the rooftop restaurant to do it. He came down while the restaurant was open too. He not only is the bartender but he is also the waiter. Same with the pool bar/snack area. Our waiter was also the bartender there, which is significant considering that the bar he tends is the only bar that services the pool area.
Neither good or bad:
Privacy in Room 😶🌫️ 🚿: The rooms here are not the best when it comes to bathtoom privacy. You have to be very comfortable with who you are sharing the room with because the only place in the bathroom that is truly private is the watercloset/toilet area. The shower is very open and you can see it all.
The pool 👙🩳: Great location and view, not too big of an infinity pool that is parallel to the sea. It had alot of the tiles loose. They were all at the bottom of the pool. People were using the tiles to write out cute messages on the side of the pool.
Beach 🏖: Non existent. It is located steps away and it would actually be considered the Iberostar beach that happens to be public. Iberostar cleans the Beach everyday and they have a water sports center that you can rent from that is located there. You can use it if you pay. The entrance to the beach from the hotel is use at your own risk, and if you have mobility issues I suggest you do not use this entrance. I will upload pictures. Playa paraiso has a general public entrance that everyone can use but you have to get out of the hotel area to use it. The hotel does not provide beach chairs, and you cant use the Iberostar ones, so you need to bring your own beach towels.
If beach accessibility is a deal breaker, maybe you should consider a different hotel. If you are more of a pool person that just likes to be by a beach then this place could be for you.
Hotel location📍🗺: it is located almost at a halfway point between Playa del Carmen and Cancun which is actually ideal if you want to do a quick day or night trip to either locations. It took us about 30 min to get there from the airport with private transport. I noticed that they have a rent a car right next to the hotel which was actually pretty cool. Not sure who manages it though, but I did see a sign and a parking lot with the cars.
Cons:
Food 🍽: When going to an all inclusive it is typical that the food is going to be below average or of lower quality. However since this is an all inclusive OPTIONAL hotel, the food should not be held to that standard, especially since they only have 2 food options, and one of them closes before 5pm. You have to consider that there are people staying there that have to pay out of pocket for the food, and they are eating the same food with what I am assuming is from the same menu. The prices I saw on the menu were between 50 - 300 mexican pesos. The food at the snack bar was slightly better than the one at their rooftop restaurant. Though both locations have great views and the vibes theqre were great, the food was lackluster at best and lacked seasoning. The tostada I had at the snack bar was decent though and the burger was pretty good.
All things considered this hotel is great for those that book it with the expectation that they are booking a hotel, and NOT a resort. There is no entertainment here, just peace and quiet. This is just an above average place to sleep that caters to those that want that extra care and service from those that work there.
Would we return, probably. But not in the near future. Currently we are on a mission to go to most of the all inclusive hotels in the area and this was just one of the many places we will go to. We are currently in the middle of a stay in the Iberostar complex right next door to this property.
- Jumarjo (2/5): - I stayed at Senses Riviera Maya for what was supposed to be my birthday trip. Unfortunately, the experience was unacceptable and forced me to leave in the middle of my stay for another resort.
The problems included:
Mold on the walls and overall poor cleanliness.
Ongoing noisy renovations.
No hot water for multiple days.
Extremed limited food options compared to what was advertised.
Discolored faucet water that felt unsafe to use.
Instead of enjoying a milestone celebration, I was left frustrated, embarrassed, and disappointed. This resort did not provide the comfort, safety, or quality advertised. I would not recommend staying here.
- Passiyon (2/5): - Property was not like the pictures. Needs serious renovations. Food menu can be updated, steak everyday breakfast, lunch and dinner is excessive. Pool dirty definitely got bv from it and there is no ice machine or laundry on site. Getting a ride from the resort to downtown Cancun and back was 125$ rip off!
- Felix (4/5): - The Staff was great, the property need some TLC, the pool wasn’t clean.
- Antiffany (10/5): - Everyone there was nice the food was amazing we had a wonderful time just need to upgrade the rooms they lil outdated and have some adult activities
- Connector757779 (10/5): Our dream honeymoon - My wife and I came here for our anniversary for 5 days and the resort is beautiful and quaint. The staff makes each interaction personable and we felt at home and beyond comfortable here. Christian(our dinner server at blend bar) was very accommodating and friendly, he provided top tier service each and every time! Santiago(server at the snack bar) was also very friendly and provided great drink suggestions. The front desk staff was also very professional and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay! Housekeeping staff was great and we never had to worry about fresh towels or asking for extra water. We also liked that the dinner menu changed each night. We will definitely be returning in the near future! 10/10 stay!
- Kiamaly (6/5): - food was meh most of the time and they had a really bad hot water problem
- Monique (8/5): - Great stay, met with some unexpected events (the elevator was inoperable during my stay but was repaired by the time I left. Things happen no problem I got more steps counts for the day literally. The Pool Plunge took too long to fill up due to piping issues, and again it was filled up the day I left so I didn't get to enjoy it. The reason I stated these hiccups is because I wanted to point out that management did take quick and reasonable actions to correct and accommodate me. The staff members Thomas, Sophie ,Victoria at the front desk were phenomenal! All employees were very cordial as well.
- ashleysT7947OB (8/5): Overall not bad - So the good- staff was amazing! Christian really took care of us. Everyone was wonderful. Drinks were delicious, and the food was also pretty good. I didn’t have anything that I didn’t like. The view is unmatched, it was the highlight of the trip. This is definitely a couples resort, for those that intend to relax.
The not so good- the facilities are old and in need of renovations. The water in our room never got hot, even after being moved because the first room didn’t even get warm. It also seemed like it didn’t get warm at all after 8pm or 9pm. The pool bar/restaurant closes at 5.
Overall, we had a great time! I can’t say enough about the staff. I think this place has the potential to be amazing with some renovations, keeping the pool bar/restaurant open as long as the pool is open, and possibly adding one additional restaurant for more choices.
- George (1/5): PICTURES LIE - STAY AWAY - Everyone has different standards, and I understand that. However, anyone who rates this place above three stars clearly lacks an understanding of what constitutes a luxury or above-average experience. Here’s why:
- The location is completely unwalkable, situated on a pothole-riddled dirt road that feels like a shady back alley.
- Upon arrival, the curb appeal is dismal. The large purple logo outside is rusted, which immediately raised my concerns. Properties that take pride in their appearance recognize that the guest experience begins the moment you arrive.
- The metal awning supporting the glass is entirely rusted. This is a straightforward observation.
- There was only one receptionist, likely because they don’t receive many bookings.
- There are no phones in the rooms or at the front desk. All communication is done through WhatsApp via cell phones. While I don’t mind using WhatsApp, it’s odd not to have a direct line to the front desk when needed.
- The walls are stained. While no hotel walls are perfect, these definitely need attention.
- The sheets and towels also have stains. I don’t need to guess what they might be, and it’s unsettling to think about the state of the mattress. 🤮
- The jetted tub raises serious cleanliness concerns. If you have experience with jetted tubs, you know they can harbor dirt and grime. Trust me, based on the smell, they aren’t being properly cleaned.
- The balcony tub had about 20% of its tiles missing, exposing old grout. We were informed that the balcony pool could be used, but only cold water was available. It looked worn and unclean, much like the outdoor swimming pool.
I had seen enough and left immediately without incident. I was so disgusted that I didn’t even ask for a refund. If you come from humble beginnings, this place might seem like an upgrade, and I mean that respectfully. But if you’re accustomed to true cleanliness and above-average accommodations, steer clear of this establishment. Nothing
- Shekina (6/5): - High lights of my stay where the staff and the room. The property can use an upgrade and more amenities. The staff was wonderful and the view was amazing.
- Daniel (8/5): - Everyone at the resort was very kind and accommodating. I do wish they had a better selection of food. The snack bar food was great. Dinner options just weren't our favorite. They stayed on top of anything we needed. Tomas was great in preparing us for the trip. And Jimena was wondeful with helping us with activities. I highly recommend the Cirque dinner experience.
- Jazehel (4/5): - The hotel was practically empty, with very few employees and limited dining options. It was also very isolated. The drink selection was extremely basic. Overall, I will never go back to that hotel. Very boring. Mind you I never write any reviews on any hotels or products but this hotel never again!!!!
- mookh783 (10/5): Christian was great - Christian was great here and kept the drinks coming, service was amazing would highly recommend!! He was there most mornings and evenings as well make sure you take care of him when you come to visit!!!
- Adam (8/5): - We have stayed here many times and will be back again. Location is nice and quiet and the staff is just great. The property does need a little makeover but is a great value.
- Victoria Ann (2/5): - I booked a 6-night stay for my birthday and had to leave after just one night. The room was unbearably humid and covered in black mold, which immediately triggered my asthma. I messaged the hotel right away with photos and explained my health concerns. They promised a manager would speak with me the next morning, but he was conveniently “unavailable” all day despite multiple attempts.
The front desk offered another room, but I was too disgusted and worried for my health to stay. I checked out by early afternoon and moved to another hotel. Since then, the hotel has ignored all emails from me and Expedia requesting a refund. Extremely disappointed, this place is unsanitary and unprofessional.
- Marlen (4/5): - It WAS NOT all inclusive. Only breakfast and dinner was included. So had to pay an extra $200 for all inclusive. The food was good and fresh. There was cracks everywhere in the rooms and balcony. The pictures ARE NOT up to date.
- Nicol (2/5): - I honestly would like my money back. The food was terrible and made me sick. Leaving me in bed all weekend. The hotel was also in horrible condition it does not deserve to be called a boutique hotel.
- Terrence (8/5): - Food options a little limited.... but they're good! Spacious rooms. Love the big rain head shower.
- David (2/5): - Do not recommend pictures online way old
Place is poorly maintained and not very clean. If you were to stumble on the place you would think it’s abandoned not one person I came across there thought it was a good place. It looked like it was once a nice romantic spot but it is mismanaged. The staff was nice but beyond that place is a dump
- James (6/5): - Had a good time, how ever property needs updating..Loved our honeymoon suite...has to fix up facility
- Alan (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the property. It was quiet and perfect for relaxing. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I gave it 4 stars as there were a number of areas that need to be addressed.
Drawbacks - There is only one restaurant and the choices where very limited. I had to complain to the chef as the same menu was served three times during our stay. I must say that he did listen and changed it up.
The infinity pool is the only feature of the property. However it does need a complete makeover. The pool has many loose tiles.
The beach next to the property is not safe for swimming and has a lot of seaweed, but just down the steps on the one side you can walk a short distance to a safe swimmable beach.
I understand that the property is under new management and a makeover is planed.
- H8386HFmariusd (10/5): Great plce and people! - Great location on the beach, a little secluded from the other hotels. Staff was friendly and helpfull, food and drinks was devine.
The rooms are utterly stunning, with views and their own little pool on the terrace.
I’ll recommand this to everyone.
- Arnoldo (2/5): - Checked out just after 1.5 days and moved to a different hotel, this hotel has really nothing to offer, don't waste your time nor money here.
- Jennifer (10/5): - This resort is small & quiet for couples looking for an intimate experience. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The food & drinks were wonderful! The room was spacious, clean & the views & sound of the ocean all day!
- Ali (10/5): - 10/10, cleaning staff was very kind and thorough, when we had a maintenance problem, we got situated right away, very beautiful views, amazing food and more! We definitely recommend.
- kristelld2017 (2/5): Terrible stay at Senses by Artisan Riviera Maya Adult Boutique Hotel in Playa Del Carmen. June 2025 - I booked a trip through Expedia. It was a package. The pics of the hotel looked great and I thought a boutique hotel would be great for my husband’s birthday. I read the reviews on Expedia and they were “ok”. I booked. I went to trip advisor and the reviews were not good. This happened in 20 mins. I tried to cancel the hotel. For 4 days, Expedia claimed they tried to contact the manager at Senses. I was told they would not cancel nor refund me. Since the trip was in 2 days weeks, all I could do is be hopeful that our experience was going to be a good one. After all everyone’s experiences are different. We arrive to the hotel. It was off a rocky side road behind some apartments that are being built.
The entrance was very nice. We were greeted by a young woman. She helped with our bags and checked us in. They give you these resin bracelets which serve as your room key.
Our room was 305. We walked into the room. It was huge. 52 x52.
I was disappointed. The bed was worn, sheets were some form of white. The sofa and chaise lounge chair were dirty …there was a
Jacuzzi tub. It needed a bleach scrubbing and there were hairs in the jets. We weren’t going to use it anyway. The shower was so big with a rain shower head. It also needed cleaning. The sinks in the bathroom area were all exposed.
The spouted faucets …. The metal was oxidized so we were concerned about that.
The room was cheaply decorated. The walls had spackling in places that looked like they did some quick repair. The balcony also had a jacuzzi tub. I wasn’t about to get in it. 2 chairs lounge chairs. I’m posting pics below. The rugs a both sides of the king size bed were so old and tattered. Not once did we let our bare feet touch the floor. The towels needed bleaching.
The beach towels were stained and had seen their days. So the pics they show are not what is there. The game room sofas on the website are not what’s there. The ones there were filthy. The infinity pool needed resurfacing. The FOOD on the rooftop restaurant was terrible. My husband ordered a pasta with chicken and it looked like the poured some can sauce on it that was not red. He said it tasted like it came from a can.
The salads have only iceberg lettuce and some very light romaine lettuce. To get to the beach next door you had to go thru some door and down a steep stairway, walk thru the tons of seaweed that was washed up on the shore. I mean truck fulls and it smelled awful. One night while we were sleeping the vent cover from the ceiling fell off crashing on the floor. Scared the mess out of us. Called maintenance . He comes to assess the situation, leaves and comes back with a ladder. He pushed it back into the ceiling but it wouldn’t stay so he put a few screws into the ceiling. He left the bits of Sheetrock on the floor.
Didn’t even offer to clean it up. The cabana’s were moldy and dirty but they think by putting sheets over them that makes it better. Mold can come thru the sheets. And we didn’t see not one guest on the property until Saturday and that was only 1 couple. Then we saw 1 lady when we checked out and she came down to complain.
So Expedia shows this as 4 Star hotel. It was far from.
This was and is a 1 to 2 star. How deceiving.
I was so disappointed because my husband deserved a fabulous 65th birthday. I literally cried.
When we left the 2 people at the front desk didn’t event ask if we enjoy our stay. Very disappointing. Don’t book this hotel.
- Rogelio Ismael (10/5): - Nice place
- Asa (10/5): - The property was small and quiet! If you are looking for a kid free get away, this is the place. The staff makes you feel like family while you’re there. I would definitely return to stay again!!
- Msblanca2007 (10/5): Christian is excellent - Excellent customer service, Christian bar/ waiter was amazing. You just tell him to surprise you with a drink and he makes it no questions asked. He is funny and and most of all honest. The front view of the rooms it amazing. I would of definitely come back
- B8031KBalejandrom (10/5): Excellent - Excellent service the room all beachfront view and the best part of our stay the bartender and waiter Christin made our stay so much fun great personality and funny and most importantly honest will definitely come back to this resort !!!!! And definitely will stay here 🏝️🌊
- Victor (7/5): Good -
- James (10/5): - All in all the stay was great. Top notch food, the room was pretty clean and the staff was friendly. Thw jacuzzi tub in the room ran out of hot water by the time it was 1/4 of the way full which wasnt all that great. I think the bartenders, waiters and the staff made the stay a lot better. The location was much different than Cancun as you could not walk anywhere from the property except along the beach. It was a good mile walk from property to the main road and then 30-45min in either direction to get into town. Taxi to Playa Del Carmen ferry was 20$ ea way which was more than reasonable. Air conditioning in the room was non adjustable. It was either in or off as it controlled a the rooms which we managed fairly well as it was comfortable and maybe even a bit cold. Would we recommend the resort. Definitely. Would we stay there again. More than likely. We like to explore a lot more than we did so we will probably pick something a bit closer to town or at the very least along a bus line.
- Joanna (6/5): - The property has the potential to be a really great getaway for couples. It is outdated. The faucets were leaking. Hot water is shut off at night. No food is available after 11pm. Only a vending machine.
- Karson Payne (2/5): - The room
- Buddy Alan (2/5): - Pictures were very misleading there was not beach front to enjoy to walk on. A/C did not work very well at all. Plug pool that we paid to have did not work wouldn’t even fill with water. No transportation to shop without paying $300USD.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I wish I could give it 0 stars. The balcony doors do not close from inside. Traveling as a solo female, there’s nothing I value more that my safety. I brought the concern up with the receptionist and she brushed me off and said I shouldn’t be worried about it. Yeah. No thanks. Anyone can access it from outside.
I had already made my mind up I was going the stay 1 night and leave the next morning. As I was getting ready to wine down for the day, I saw a roach. I made a video and sent it to them and told them I was gonna leave. She said she can send house keeper and I told them nope. There’s no way I was going to spend the night there knowing they got roaches.
I packed up my stuff and left. I was told manager had to approve the refund. Since I didn’t stay single night but when it came down to it, neither this resort or Expedia wants to issue my refund because it was a non-refundable stay. It doesn’t matter that it’s non-fundable especially since I showed them video proof of the issue.
I’ve disputed the charges with my back.
- Bobbi (6/5): - Small intimate property. Great for relaxing
- Michelle (2/5): - We stayed here for a week. The property overall has no beach, 1 restaurant and a snack bar. The restaurant has the same breakfast menu every morning. They change the menu for the evening. The pool is missing tile. They had to change us room sin the middle of our stay due to a big leak in the closet. When going out for an excursion and asked to bring a towel with us, They would not allow us too unless we leave our ID we credit card. How are we should to show ID at the excursion with no ID or how are we suppose to purchase anything with no credit card.
- charles (10/5): - The views from every room and the staff makes this one of the best hidden gems in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Could do with im - Very nice hotel when it was built 20yrs ago. Looking a bit tired now. Tiles coming off the pool, air con broke so a room change one night. Staff there are great though
- Lopez (4/5): Disappointing - It was on a good location of water, front. Our room had a sense of heavy humidity. My wife was pregnant, so she got a little sick. I feel like they need to have better air, Quality.
- Tasha (8/5): PEACE, QUIET, AND RELAXATION AT THE SENSES PLAYA PARIASO - I loved the room it was amazing. The bed OMG SO COMFORTABLE.The jets in the tub were strong it was great. Very relaxing. The drinks were ok. The hot tub on the roof jet was weak and barely worked. The water was great though. Wear water shoes in the pool, the pool towels are loose and missing. This resort IS SMALL AND QUIET. IF YOU WANT QUIET YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.
- ahmedaX8211IU (10/5): Senses Riviera experience - If you’re looking for a calm and relaxing place away from the noise with an ocean view and a nice pool, this is a great place. Amazing service and good food. Staff are friendly and helpful with anything you need. The restaurant and the pool staff are the best! Would definitely recommend.
- Harold (2/5): - The place was not what it shows, there was no water for 2 nights of the stay, The water was yellow when filling the hot tubs. Was going to be a nice week to relax and to not be able to shower after a hot day is not what I call relaxing
- cassieo955 (10/5): Perfect for a honeymoon - My husband and I had a really great experience here. We came for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we were looking for. The wait staff were a particular stand out with the fun and accommodating attitude. We would highly recommend senses Riviera.
- Igor (8/5): - Need good renovation, food was great and staff was extremely friendly.
For tourists only safe transportation is with taxi.
Hotel is 2km away from main road with unsafe gravel road and no lights …
- William (6/5): - Big rooms, but feels not super well maintained
- Ally (8/5): - They made us pay on the front desk $200 each person for lunch & dinner for four days and that was disappointing for me because my package was ALL INCLUSIVE
