Guest Reviews
- Janne (8/5): - Hieman enemmän olisi voinut olla itsepalvelu pöydässä tarjottavaa, esim. vähän juustoa.
- Tanja_tanzt (9/5): Cosy room in a perfect location - My room (#8) was super cosy and quiet, going out to the backyard. The bed was very comfortable, the room clean, and the location of the pub/hotel is amazing, max. 15mins walk from the train/bus station and just around the corner from the port area/promenade.
The reception and restaurant staff were super helpful and I enjoyed the cooked breakfast I addition to the continental breakfast buffet immensely. A shower head in the tub would have been very appreciated, as it was very difficult to wash my long hair (no mixer tap in the sink, and no shower).
I didn't mind the pigeons I could hear through the roof at all, but might be annoying to some.
With rather low ceilings and very a slim narrow hallway, I would not recommend room #8 to larger/taller guests - for me, that made the room feel even cosier and was not a problem at all.
- Sandra (9/5): Excellent place to stay very central to Poole Quay - We have stayed here a few times so handy as we have family who live in Poole the staff are excellent and the rooms are clean and beds are good Nothing really I did have one little complaint I told the manager about a small problem that we had in the room but unfortunately it was not seen to it did not spoil our stay there and I did mention it when we checked out for the next guest who would occupy that room
- Stephen (8/5): - Location very handy for Quay, boat trips, and old town. The hotel location was quiet in May. The hotel is on the High Street but the street is pedestrianised, so no traffic noise. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Parking was a few hundred yards away in a multistorey. About £25 for a 2-day stay.

- C. (4/5): - Friendly, welcoming staff. Room "tired', needs a refresh to compete with other budget chains.
- Aira (9/5): Charming accomodation - A truly charming place, the bed was huge and incredibly comfortable. We chose the room with a bathtub, and it was the perfect option for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The staff couldn't have been friendlier; we hope to return!
- Tina (8/5): -
- Derek (9/5): - It was in a brilliant location All good
- Darlene (8/5): Excellent location - Great location, lovely staff and yummy food
- Scott (7/5): i would stay again - food was ok
Staff very friendly
No parking but website states limited parking at the rear. We found parking close bye.

- Deborah (7/5): It was worth the stay - The location was perfect two mins from the quay
The bar area was cold they had two doors open all the time which made it uncomfortable
It’s a same they didn’t light the real fire up , what’s the point if having a lovely feature and not using it. I know it’s not winter but it was cold when that sun went down. The food was excellent
All the staff where lovely Apart from shutting the doors , this hotel was very good
- ian (8/5): Lovely and relaxing - Location was great and lovely room and staff. Television needs updating no signal. Most of the time the TV didn't work or no sound.
- claire (9/5): Great VFM - Location at Old side of town was great, just around thr corner from the sea front. The room on top floor was large, really quiet and comfortable, I liked the courtyard entrance (not through the pub) with seating too - lovely on a sunny morning. Staff were welcoming and I had no problem getting extra milk and tea in the morning. Also a bonus was the bath with shower over, always a plus! Parking wasn't a problem about 10/15 mins walk and not expensive.

- Karen (10/5): Charming Inn/Great anchor fora Dorset visit - I love this place--this was a return visit for me. The breakfast is wonderful--they do their own baking and have these chocolate-filled twisted croissants >Wow!
It's a quirky place with a lot of charm. Personable employees provide good service.
Very good value for the money. The long walk down the High Street from the train station to the Antelope in the evening after the restaurants and charity shops have closed is a bit off-putting if you are a solo traveler. The rest of the day, it's fine. Not that anything happened where I didn't feel safe, but there is literally no one around.
- Stephne (10/5): Lovely pub in the middle of town near shops and restaurants - Clean and comfortable rooms. Dog friendly Parking not available
- Dani (7/5): Great location - room tidy - staff great - Very hard and room was incredibly hot. How hot the room was. All the radiators on the landings were pumping out heat. Bed was very hard and not at all comfy.
- Dawn (9/5): - Everything about the venue staff is polite and friendly, the food is fantastic, and the hotel is great
- Marcelline (8/5): - Lieu avec charme et pub chaleureux avec concert live le samedi soir ! /

- Caroline (8/5): This property exceeded our expectations, with friendly staff and very good value for money - It was very good value for money - better than I had anticipated.
They had made an effort to freshen up the decor in the room, and similarly the dining area had been redecorated
The breakfast was included and was very good quality
The staff were really helpful and friendly The carpets need replacing next!

- james (6/5): enjoyable - In a great location and friendly staff always happy to help. The rooms are a little let down by the extraction fans in the bathrooms, which are quite loud when in use. This can be particularly unpleasant early in the morning.
It’s also great that irons and ironing boards are provided; however, they could do with updating. The iron in my room had no steam function, so my clothes still looked creased after use. The hotel staff were very helpful and sourced an alternative iron from another room, but unfortunately this one was leaking, which isn’t ideal when preparing for business meetings.
That said, I did enjoy my stay overall. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and clearly committed to making guests’ stays as pleasant as possible, even when some issues were beyond their control.

- Marco (6/5): -
- Holmes (10/5): - Friendly and welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble. No parking on site, but there is a multi story car park around the corner.
- Robert (5/5): If you haven’t got a car it’s ok - Very goof No car park. And unloading or loading facilities. Had to use the rear road with double yellow lines
- John (7/5): Great location, lots to see and do nearby. - Great location, nice staff. Sometimes a little hard to find staff- things are slow so they are multitasking.
- Martin (10/5): -
- Anne-Marie (8/5): -
- Michelle (8/5): Quay side location - comfortable stay - Staff very friendly, great location
- Olivia (7/5): - On Saturday 4th April, the staff on shift were absolutely brilliant - everyone was super friendly especially the lady behind the bar and the manager perhaps? Matthew/Matt? Really welcoming & friendly, good banter! Unfortunately on Sunday 5th April, there was a different manager and he was sadly quite rude. We had checked out, gone for a walk around Poole - keeping the Antelope as a meeting point for family after checkout. we waited in the beer garden for less than 10 minutes to use the facilities one last time before heading off and a different (we're assuming) manager came outside quite cocky & rude - had definitely psyched himself up for the interaction - and told us to move on as we had takeaway coffee cups in our hands. We said we were guests and he didn't care, he said "we serve coffee & tea here" and told us to leave - It wasn't very pleasant and was disappointing & awkward as we had JUST been reminiscing about how lovely everyone was. It's a shame that as soon as you've checked out the following morning, customer service has checked out too.

- Joanne (7/5): Great for a short break - Staff very friendly helpful and accommodating. Nice atmosphere. Excellent location. The bedroom/bathroom furnishings were very tired and worn
- Heather (8/5): Great stay - Location Cold!
- mikeyp750 (9/5): A lovely stay in a great location for all amenities/attractions - Large room with a large comfortable bed. Breakfast is good value for money and also very good taste/quality. Friendly and helpful staff/team ensured we had a great stay. Would definitely recommend to others.
- Claire (10/5): Relaxing Easter break - Location and really nice atmosphere staff and customers really friendly Shower was temperamental would probably benefit from walk in shower room was large enough
- Tom (9/5): Great. - Great pub with friendly staff and buzzing atmosphere and good food. Slightly dated rooms and could hear everything that was going on in the room above.
- Guest (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): Great location, dog friendly, good value. - Great location, fab breakfast, helpful staff, great at welcoming dogs.,
- David (8/5): - Good staff Tired decor and fittings
- Viv (10/5): -
- jeff (8/5): - Excellent location clean and comfortable room
- Nigel (9/5): - Breakfast was excellent- very good choice available
- Sue (10/5): Perfect - Lovely clean place with super friendly staff. Food was really good . Perfect location for everything we needed. Not really a massive issue but the bathrooms do need an upgrade . We had very little water pressure for our shower but not much you can do about that.
- Nick (9/5): Antelope is in a great location for Poole, and great value for £. - We stayed for two nights as my husband was performing in the orchestra on second night. We had to be in a twin room the night before due to no doubles and was moved following day to a double bedroom. Craig who checked us in and organised the move was incredibly helpful, kind and considerate and is a credit to the Antelope. The twin room overlooked back of property and was dark but otherwise okay and comfortable for one night.
- Audri (10/5): Very clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed, lovely pillows and powerful shower. - The hotel is right in the middle of Poole old town and is surrounded by old charm and close to harbour. There is no parking at the hotel but a multi storey car park is close by with a cheap rate for an overnight stay.
- R (8/5): Great value deal on a Sunday. Restaurant was also good - Comfy room, very good value breakfast
- Nathalie (9/5): -
- FABIENNE (7/5): - La décoration Chambre , salle de bain vieillotte
- Jessica (10/5): Excellent - Loved the location as there was a great high street and places to eat and we were so close to our friends wedding venues that we attended. Considering its above a pub it was super quiet too. The bed was a little smaller than we were used too but still comfortable.
- Gerry (9/5): So good I might do it again. - Large rooms , good shower , clean and especially the friendliness of the staff. Not a thing
- Joanne (9/5): - Hotel was perfect for what we wanted, full of character, staff were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. Service was quick in both the bar and restaurant and food was delicious. Will definitely return!
- Smith (8/5): Friendly staff, great atmosphere - Breakfasts were excellent
Staff were friendly and helpfull Noisy dog during evening meal! Having a dog around was not the issue.
Had to request top up for tea and coffee , toilet paper and replacement towels. Was admin oversight, housekeeping not advised room not in use. Irritating but sorted efficiently.
- Kevin (8/5): Great hotel - Everything except parking No car park
- Sarah W (10/5): Highly recommended hotel in a perfect location. - The room was lovely - toasty warm, nicely decorated and had everything I needed. There were quite a lot of stairs to get to my room, which didn't cause me any problems, but it may be awkward for a customer with limited mobility.
- Donna (10/5): - Mat and Tracy were friendly, helpful and welcoming. All other staff we met were just as lovely. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything you need. Breakfast was excellent value and tasty.
The building is historic and has lots of original charm and is a minutes walk to the quayside and into town. We were only there for one night! Longer next time! Otherwise it was perfect for us.
- Rob (9/5): Staff excellent and very helpful - Very comfortable but bath wasn’t best apart from that excellent Just the cleaning of bath
- John (9/5): - Great location in historic centre near the Quay.
Old Hotel with plenty of atmosphere and great value restaurant. Bedroom was on the small side but perfectly adequate and did not detract from our stay.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Great Family Time - The staff are amazing at The Antelope. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms and hotel are spotlessly clean also. We have stayed a few times before and will defo go back. N/A
- james (9/5): -
- Alexandra (5/5): -
- melanie (6/5): Night away - Location and very dog friendly Was in room 15 very noisy people walking past our room being loud. Food was disappointing had to send my meal back due to over cooked breakfast sausages were rock hard/ over cooked
- Ann-Marie (9/5): - Spotlessly clean, lots of character, great breakfast and wonderful staff -nothing was too much trouble
- TSZ HIM ALVIN (10/5): Cozy room near Poole Harbour - Next to Poole Museum. One block to the harbour. Cozy room. Bathtub with powerful water. Great breakfast with variety of choice and fruits. Strong radiator. Friendly staff. The windows were not transparent so that I couldn't enjoy the view, although I know the rooms can be next to neighbourhood.
The bath was clean but there were some marks which may make some guests think it's not clean. The bathtub had separate switches for showers so I was confused about how to use until I figured out.
The radiator in the bathroom was ready to power up while the one in the room was off at the beginning so that I had to turn on myself but the switch was hidden next to the bed I found it hard to adjust (long hand and couldn't see the number).

- Miguel (10/5): -
- Nick (9/5): - Classic modernised 'coaching inn' in Poole's old town, near the lively quayside. Very comfortable 'deluxe' room, friendly staff and a good breakfast. Highly recommend.
