Guest Reviews
- Mariana (10/5): Way more than I expected. - The room was very spacious. The design was very modern. Staff were very friendly.
- Thu (10/5): I wil be back and would recommend anybody to stay when in Kyoto - Good location, the room is very clean and spacious, excellent services, friendly and gratefully staff Nothing
- Jalaluddin (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - Wow. This hotel completely exceeded my expectations. The rooms were huge, bright and very well stocked. The washer/dryer in the room was a godsend for us as a family with a baby and the bathroom was luxurious with a freestanding bathtub. The staff are very welcoming and downstairs there is a cafe and salad bar all with fresh colourful ingredients. This hotel was 1/3 the price of the more popular family suites chain in Japan but it was every bit as good if not better
- Dita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charl (9/5): Beautiful hotel near the Tori Temple, delicious coffee and breakfast - A modern chic studio room. We got breakfast each morning only for $10AUD each. Delicious! Loved the bath and Netflix in the room. Air con was hard to work out (all in Japanese), same with our washing machine, the door got locked and we couldn’t open it. Staff very ver helpful with fixing this though.
- Sandra (9/5): Good Stay In Kyoto - Well located near the Temple and plenty of shops. Plus 10 mins walk from Kyoto station. Our room was very comfortable and the super sized bathroom was a dream. The housekeeping is run by the cafe downstairs… initially the service was a little slow as they were busy in the cafe. The hotel is located on a busy road .. rooms at the front will experience some road noise.
- Rebecca (3/5): Disappointing - Spacious room Cold and noisy through vent in room
, not a good nights sleep
- Apipop (9/5): Cost-effectiveness hotel - Perfect room facility, good and quiet location and hotel staff are very helpful even their English speaking are not fluent. Hot water in the bathroom is not warm enough sometimes.
- Maribel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): It was great staff friendly and attentive location is great -
- Karrynanne (9/5): Superb - The room was spacious and well decorated, the bathroom was lovely and the beds were comfortable. This was the nicest and most relaxing hotel we stayed in whilst in Japan, the staff were also friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The light in our room wasn't accommodating for anyone over 5"1, wasn't a problem for me but my husband smacked his head a couple of times.
- Brian (10/5): Great people, great location! - Very helpful and welcoming staff. The location is great because it's just a 15 minute walk from Kyoto Station. There's also a bus stop across the road so you can easily get to any part of the city quickly. This hotel has a good modern look while still being very comfortable. Breakfast was very good too.
- Michael (7/5): Decent, roomy place to stay near Kyoto station. A little attention to detail would make this place great! - The place was very clean and the laundry was nice, it was spacious and it was handy to have the kitchenette. It was great to be walking distance to the train station. Many items seemed missing or broken. There were no bowls and the kitchen didn’t really have many utensils for food prep. The shower faucet handle was broken, and the shower head holder didn’t work. There were no hooks or place to hang wet towels. The mattress said it was king size, but it was really just two smaller mattresses pushed together with an uncomfortable ridge between them.
- Danica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (4/5): Disappointing - The staff were lovely, having a lounge in the room, nice bath, washing machine in the room, free Netflix, the breakfast was tasty. The bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on I ended up sleeping on the lounge the last night, broken shower head.
- Huyen (8/5): Very good -
- Du (9/5): Superb - Lovely hotel. Modern feel. Perhaps not the best option for families with little children as it is a bit of a walk to the train station, but still a great location.
- Kristen (10/5): Great Hotel across from Toji Temple. - Great hotel! We wanted to be close to Toji Temple
so this was perfect. My daughter especially
liked the Dyson Air Wrap and accessories:) Quick walk from Kyoto Station.
- Lee (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (9/5): Great value for money hotel with comfy beds and important amenities. - Great hotel, friendly and warm staff. Room has a washer/dryer that was so important and convenient for us on long travels. Room was big too for 4 of us. Wifi was great and so was the Netflix! There were even a Dyson hair dryer and air purifier too! How great is that! Everything was great!
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Excellen. Would highly recommed - THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT! STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL The location was little far from the places I wanted to visit.
- Alexander (4/5): Disappointing - Washing machine in room, bath, TV with youtube, decent location "king sized" mattress was really two twin mattresses pushed together making a gap in the middle, staff were very loud moving things from the room next door, every time they opened the door it hit the lock being used to keep the door open. Started around 7 am every day, was hard to sleep.
- Jeffrey (10/5): So grateful, perfect stay in that part of Kyoto. - It was perfectly located to to-ji temple. So comfortable, great beds , bath was amazing and the staff and breakfast was fantastic. Nothing, it’s great.
- Ian (10/5): a great place to stay and amazing staff - easy walk from railway station. plenty of room. lovely breakfast beautifully presented. the bed was just a little bit harder than i like
- Naila (10/5): 2 Australians at Root2 - We stayed at the Root2 Hotel for 5 nights and we received exceptional service. Our room was spacious with twin double beds, a kitchenette with a sink, kettle, small convection stove, and a fridge with a good size freezer. The beds were very comfortable with soft sheets, cushions, and cosy blankets; the best western style mattresses we've slept on to date in Japan! The bathroom was very large (especially by Japanese standards) with a big tub and separate shower, and they provided us with beautiful soft thick towels (which were replenished with fresh ones each morning) and grey fleece robes. The room was also quiet, and we couldn't hear much noise outside or from the neighbouring room, so having the extra privacy to relax was very nice.
The hotel is a few minutes easy walk to the train station and there are convenience stores nearby, so everything was very accessible. Even late at night they have someone at reception. Every evening they offered us a selection of breakfast choices, and delivered it to our hotel room - it's so nice to have coffee brought to you at 8:30am! We had an excellent day shopping at the local antiques and flea market held at Toji, and we needed to send some fragile items to Tokyo. The front desk was so helpful and considerate with sourcing cardboard boxes, packaging materials, fragile stickers, and then sent them on without any difficulty. Our office/booking manager (I'm so sorry I forgot your name!) left us a very thoughtfully written letter in English to explain the process. Booking a taxi was hassle free and only took a few minutes to arrive. It made our stay very pleasant and stress free, especially at the end of our trip when we were carrying a large number of bags. We are very grateful to all the Root2 staff, but especially our booking manager. Thank you again!
- Miho (6/5): Pleasant -
- Olga (10/5): Contemporary Japan in ancient Tokyo - The room : modern and Japanese nothing !
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were exceptionally professional and friendly. Breakfast was western, a great value, and served in the room! The room and bathtub was spacious, clean and modern; with everything you need for a week stay including stove, frig and washer/dryer. The location was across the street from Toji Temple, one of the most historic in Kyoto, with the tallest Pagoda! It also is next to a bus stop and 10 minute ride to Kyoto Station, the gateway to the city and to Japan.
- Aya (6/5): Pleasant - place kitchen, bed
- Terry (7/5): Good - Good value and has washer/dryer in room. Spacious room however the metal frame chairs were uncomfortable and would be better replaced with a couch or arm chairs.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Comfortable room and great staff. - Great staff, well equipped room, very comfortable. Welcome beverage greatly appreciated.
- Franklyn (10/5): Excellent! - Just great coffee. Early start.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlos (8/5): Modern hotel close to Kyoto central station - Modern style hotel with very attentive staff. Rooms were nicely decorated. Breakfast delivered to the room every morning. Very nice bathroom. The room lacked space to put the clothes (long stay). Location is close to Kyoto central station but a bit far from the main attractions
- Lena (5/5): never again - very disappointing false representation on booking.com. we transferred after 30 min to another hotel.
- Ankur (9/5): Homely feeling - cleanliness
modern stuff
very polite staff
near to the Kyoto station and bus stop
had washing machine & dryer in the room
breakfast was exceptional and freshly cooked bread onsite. room should have full carpet
kitchen could have more crockery
- Joshua (9/5): Quiet Calm cozy little spot near the Kyoto train station - Very clean and polite workers. made us feel right at home always. one of their workers ran after us in the rain to give us umbrellas because they knew it would rain that day. that was a highlight for their hospitality. wonderful place. even better people mild inconvenience was caving no cutlery and no pan even though there was a stove
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Fikrete (10/5): Wonderful people. Luxurious location. -
- Abhishek (10/5): One of the best hotels we have every stayed in! - The team went out of their way to provide us with recommendations to make our stay more enjoyable! They also went above and beyond for our 10 year anniversary! NA
- Jeromina (8/5): Very good -
- Jeanne (8/5): Very good - Spacious room, walking distance to shrine. Quite far from any other attractions. Room felt a bit basic (like fashion and looks were chosen over actual comfort).
