Guest Reviews
- Quinn (8/5): Brilliant - we had a good time - Garden. Access to garden. Free parking. Staff helpful. A bit old and tired.
- Jean (9/5): Warm comfortable and a warm welcome. - Location and free parking
- Karen (5/5): Very tired property - Location and carparking Needs some TLC, very tired in everyway. We booked a superior double room with four poster bed, it wasn't a four poster bed and if it was a superior room I'd hate to see a standard room. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, bathroom weird, shower no water pressure and a fine line between a burning hot or freezing cold shower.
- Sonya (6/5): OK value for Bath - Good location - a long but very scenic walk to the center. Bathroom was tiny, only 1 chair in the room. Sign said that continental breakfast was available, but host said it wasn't. Also swimming pool and hot tub were listed, but the pool was filled with leaves and looked like it hadn't been in use for years.
- Gary (8/5): - Breakfast was good . Polite staff Nothing
- Jody (6/5): Ok for one night - Free parking, decent location Dated, Mattress was old so you sink into the middle , shower wasn’t good
- Fiona (9/5): - Lovely size room. Very comfortable mattress, had a very restful sleep.
Only about a 20 min walk into Bath centre (bus stop near by too though).
Free parking, was a definite bonus!
Would stay again If I'm up that way.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
- MAIMEN (7/5): Not a bad place to stay . - Big room , had a sun lounge as well . Looks bit tired .
- Peter (10/5): Location, Parking and Charm - Before arriving at Wentworth House Hotel, I had seen some negative reviews online, but my wife and I found the accommodation more than satisfactory for our needs, especially given the price paid. The hotel has that Regency look, feel and charm, so we expected rooms to be smaller, and facilities to be older than a modern hotel. But they were fine. The room was very comfortable, similar in size (including bathroom) to a cruise ship cabin, where we have spent many holiday hours. But the best value comes from the free off-street parking (where many other hotel chains charge huge fees for this luxury), and its walking distance to the town centre and Alexandra Park. Our car did not move once we parked at the hotel, yet we saw all the major attractions with ease.
- Mary Ann (9/5): - Courteous and helpful gentleman who was not upset with me when I requested an ironing board and then changed my mind when he had carried it downstairs for me - sorry!
Good location for my visit. Window on to garden. I was allowed to borrow a plate and cutlery to eat my own food in the room. There was no possibility to request a small continental breakfast - it was full English cooked breakfast or nothing. It would have been good to have the use of a fridge to keep food fresh, but it wasn't essential in this case.
- David (4/5): - Free parking No facilities for disabled lots of stairs and shared bathroom
- Marie (6/5): -
- Olivier (7/5): - L’emplacement et le petit déjeuner, confortable ! L’humidité de la chambre
- Norma (8/5): -
- Caroline (6/5): - Very large room Bathroom was slightly too small and not that clean, the mattress is worn out
- Nick (5/5): Ok - Great breakfast. Great base for exploring Bath plus the parking is a bonus. Being in a room by a door used by smokers, woken up both nights once for someone who'd lost his key and at 4am by someone arriving back being very vocal.
Over priced accommodation.
- Isabella (8/5): Good budget hotel with everything you need. Parking included was great 👍 - Value for money . Good location. Friendly staff. Nothing
- Freckleton (9/5): - The location, room ,and garden and parking
- Carolyn (9/5): Excellent - Location and value
- Denise (8/5): -
- peter (6/5): Just about ok value. Good location. Brekkie was good. - Location, free parking. Value was ok. Place needs some TLC. Sign cleaned outside and plantings better. Carpet in hall and stairwell needs a clean. Room was clean and bed and bedding were fine.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Ritzberger (8/5): -
- John (1/5): The worst hotel room in my 79 years of life and very overpriced for the facilities offered - Parking and a reasonable breakfast Private bathroom- shared with 3 other guest rooms! Minimal bedding. There was just a cover on the bedding, folded back and two pillows. Apparently there was a duver under the fitted bottom sheet (I was informed when I checked out) but it must have been very thin as a spring kept popping loudly every time I moved and was very uncomfortable.. There was a sack of blankets in the cupboard but they looked old and ready to throw out. An additional toilet was prmised - not existant on that floor. Neither was there a promised ironing facility. Nor was there a promised radio. The tv handset was old and only a few buttons worked, with a lot of ;pushing. A very ancient heater was on the wall, connected to mains electricity but not working. I couldn't fathom out the newer heater (no instructions were provided. There was another very old portable heater in the cupboard with the blankets, it was caked in dust and only worked if you kept holding down the button the back! The coffee sachets looked old, and there was no availability for decaffinated of any hot drink. I froze during the night, the temp outside was 4C.I checked in at 3.30pm and told them I was disabled with a blue badge. The receptionist told me it was easy to get up stairs, of which there were 40!! When I came in just before 11, there was no-one available and no contact information if I needed help. There was only one small hand towel in the shared bathroom, which was ironical as there is only a shower and no bath - in the city of Bath!!!
- Geoffrey (8/5): Overall very happy - Overall very nice. Great to have parking, a spacious room and lovely bathroom. The bed was a bit like a trampoline! Not sure whether it was the base or the mattress but was very bouncy
- Carl (8/5): -
- Luiz Eduardo (8/5): - Quarto confortável.
- Charlotte Louise (10/5): Would visit again - Breakfast was amazing the room was spacious and lovely decoration Shower was difficult to get hot
- Virginia (7/5): Stay was pleasant in a on suite spacious clean room, a good breakfast, lovely staff & free parking. - The breakfast was excellent, the breakfast room was nicely laid out with a lovely garden & views. The location had good local transport facilites. The staff were great very helpful & obliging. The room was clean had a nice size bathroom, had usual tea coffee facilities, tv & storage. Sadly though the room itself was out dated & needed a upgrade e. g. skirting boards & a lick of paint. The room itself was outdated & required a upgrade & freshened up e. g. skirting boards, I mattress comfort checking.
- nicholas (10/5): Perfection in Bath - Everything perfection Nothing
- Claire (7/5): - Really lovely and welcoming host. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee provided. Very good for the price.
- Fabiana (5/5): - Chuveiro do banheiro muito ruim
A cama com o colchão bem danificado
- Blackband (6/5): -
- Olena (8/5): Good but has some minuses - We had new bed and bathroom. Very good full English breakfast.
Pretty close to the center but be ready to walk at night in the dark tunnels near the bridge. As there was 1st floor, no windows to open for the night to breathe, only balcony/ sliding doors to the garden.
Also the radiator was on all the time, I couldn't switch it off, and was hot at night.
No fridge.
- Kefford (8/5): - Quiet
- Robert (5/5): Not a pleasant place to stay for seniors. - The building was a historical looking hotel. I think this was our own fault....it was Easter weekend anyway. The only room left for us was on the 3rd floor or in the attic. We are both in our 70's and had to climb all the stairs. my hubby having just had a replacement knee! Fortunately there were some young men staying at the hotel who could help us carry our bags upstairs. On leaving, we had to carry our bags downstairs ourselves...and being an old hotel, the stairs were only about 6 inches wide!
- SARA (5/5): - La ubicacion. Alejado pero cerca de todo al tener el transporte publico muy cerca Poco limpio, todo muy antiguo, no tenía servicio de habitaciones, agua con muy poca presion y el personal aunque no fue desagradable tampoco aportaban ni ayudaban en nada
- Hee Joung (4/5): -
- GIOVANNI (7/5): -
- Chaudhari (10/5): - The free car park was a fantastic highlight and made the start of our trip so easy. Our room was wonderfully clean and comfortable, providing a perfect spot to relax.
We’d highly recommend this stay to anyone exploring Bath; while there’s a short, pleasant walk to get around, it’s very manageable and well worth it for the overall experience! Nothing
- Maryam (9/5): excellent time and we had plenty of rest during holiday - spacious and quiet room with a safe and easy inside parking. we could see sunrise and sunset from the terrace attached to our room. nothing
- Piyush (6/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Gig, spa and beer weekend - Excellent location, helpful and friendly staff, on direct bus route.
Lovely cooked breakfast. Bathroom was very small and couldnt wash face without twisting around to use sink!!
- Ivaylo (9/5): -
- Linda (9/5): We were only there for one night so our stay was very short but comfortable - The Proprietor was extremely helpful, carrying luggage for me and was happy to change my allocated room from the 3rd floor to the ground floor. He offered advice on where to eat and how to get to the Crematorium as we were there for a family funeral.
- Ruvini (6/5): -
- Donna (8/5): A very convenient place to stay for a walk into the city. - We recommend the full English breakfast, it was very good.
Great parking facility and the hotel was very accommodating.
Room was fine and had everything we needed, and we slept well.
- Andrew (10/5): Basic accomodation within walking distance of town. - The breakfast was very good. The coffee with breakfast was just nescafe sachets. No filter coffee or cafetaire. Chairs and carpet rather worn and faded in breakfast room.
- Khushnud (8/5): Good - Beautiful room with nice view and location. Alexandra park and Bloomfield park very close (10 mins walk from this hotel). Rooms were clean and spacious. I loved the balcony and the garden view. We had entrace to the garden and we were able to enjoy the moutain abd park views. Breakfast did not have much option. No fruits, no veggies, no croissants. Only simple bread, butter, jam, and english breakfast items. We paid £441 for a couple, 3 nights with breakfast which seemed a bit expensive. The hotel is 15-20 mins walking distance from city centre.
- Sher (4/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): Welcoming and friendly hotel. - The room was well presented. The manager was very welcomiing and very friendly.
The grounds are well kept and plenty of outside seating.
Unfortunately unable to sample the breakfast as left early due to a busy schedule. All satisfactory.
- Craig (4/5): Visit to Bath - Location was good, a 15 minute walk into the city
Car park was a decent size
Breakfast was good although toasters took an age & bread was covered by a paper towel which looked totally unprofessional. On checking in on the evening we found the host let's say not very chatty, just checked us in & that was that, not hi my name is (and we still don't know) how was your journey, have you travelled far, oh if you need WiFi.... nothing..... oh he did say if you want clean towels let me know otherwise we won't bother you.
The room itself was very tiered & dated, the wallpaper was coming off the walls, the furniture was older than us, the sink took ages to drain so obviously had a drainage issue.
Would we stay here again
I'm thinking not.
- Delbahari (5/5): - Parking was good Having no lift, and small stairs made it difficult to take suitcase up and down.
- Jonathan (9/5): A fantastic place to stay - The location of the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. The general presentation of the hotel was very good. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful at every point. The room was lovely and was very comfortable. The diverter mixer shower was disappointing in terms of water pressure, when compared to a wall-based mixer. That's about the only thing we could find to criticise at all.
- rudge (8/5): - Staff very friendly, convenient spot close to the city centre. Comfy facilities with good breakfast.
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Mary Ann (9/5): -
- Tullio De Rosa (10/5): - I liked the very reasonable rates, especially for Bath. The location is great, the room set up so you can watch TV in bed. Nothing really, the one thing I would change would be the pillows. Not very comfortable, skinny hollow fibre.
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Keith (9/5): Value for money hotel, helpful staff and was fine for what we need for a family of 5. - Clean and helpful staff N/A
- stephen (8/5): Great location, excellent breakfast , slightly worn but reflected in the pricing, would stay again. - Look after from start to end of stay by Danny, who answered a telephone query . Booked us in , service the rooms & cooked an excellent tasty breakfast.
Plenty of parking spaces
The hotel is a 20 mins walk down the hill to Bath or a bus ride from just a few yards above the hotel (@ st Lukes) on the No.4 bus.
Same bus brings you back . If you just want to get the big hill lots of buses around bay 9 come up to the top of the hill to Bears Flat a few hundred yards short of the hotel. water pressure on the shower not great.
- TERENCE (1/5): Really bad to say the worst hotel I have ever stayed in - Location Dirty and in a terrible condition as mush as I can say is it was disgustingly maintained
- Chandana (1/5): I would not recommend this again - The bed was not comfortable at all .The duvet was not good The room was not worth for the money I have paid .
- Turnbull (7/5): -
- Nancy (8/5): Good stay and conveniently located. - Breakfast was great! The bed and the floor where the room was in.
- Jacqueline Mitchell (5/5): -
- Desiree (8/5): A lovely stay. Very quiet. Lots of pamphlets and directions into town were printed out. - The Hotel was a traditional one and it had a lovely view. We had the bathroom to ourselves and free parking. It was an easy walk into central Bath. Nice welcome. The blanket could have been thicker.
- Martin (9/5): - Great place and location second visit Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely weekend away. - Lovely service. Great breakfast. Room lovely, spacious and clean. Slept well. Nothing. All brilliant.
- Zhang (9/5): -
- Ava23 (7/5): Pleasant Stay - We had a pleasant stay at Wentworth House Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We arrived slightly earlier than check-in time, and the receptionist kindly checked if our room was ready and allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated. We were also given clear and helpful directions on how to get to Bath city centre.
The walk into the centre was easy and enjoyable, although it’s worth noting that the return walk is slightly uphill. We stayed in a room which had a lovely view, and any issue we had during our stay was dealt with promptly and efficiently by the staff. The décor is quite dated and could do with some updating. There was also no towel rack in the bathroom, which meant we had no place to leave towels used just once which wasn’t very convenient.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Beautiful scenery - The room was great no complaints Walking from the train it was uphill
- Claudia (10/5): Lovely place with friendly staff. We would recommend it. - The staff were very friendly and the hotel was the best we experienced during our 2 week Engkand tour. It was easy to access the city and it was a nice quiet spot with privacy and friendly staff around when we needed them. The bathroom was a bit tiny, so it was hard to turn around without bumping into something but that was because it's an old house, I guess. Part of the charm. You could leave the bathroom door open if you needed more space but since it was mum and I that was not quite the right thing to do. Better when you're a couple.
- Jules (8/5): Nice . Ckean. - Price . Relaxing. Clean . Nice hotel Just that little to far out of town if walking.
Family triple room was until the kitchen. Noisey. Been woke up early , walking in room above , Hearing steps on the ceiling for hours
- Suzanne (5/5): - VFM, location OK for what we wanted. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom, and no one
came when I rang the bell to try and get some! Thank goodness I carry tissues in my handbag.
Electrics in the room were worrying - bedside light sizzled when turned on (swiftly turned off). The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, and the shower was awful! Thankfully, we were only needing a bed after a night out at the rugby.
Nobody was available to give feedback to on departure - poor customer service.
OK, for the money we paid as a last-minute deal but would not recommend it.
- Samantha (3/5): Not great - Location was great Felt very dirty and had a weird smell
- Ishita (10/5): -
- jonathan (7/5): Comfortable and good value for money - Great location and comfortable bed Water pressure could have been better, the shower was just a dribble
- Gideon (2/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Sarah (6/5): - Breakfast was good, friendly and helpful staff Room was very small and not particularly clean.
- Andrew (8/5): Comfortable stay - Comfortable stay. Cosy 4 poster bed room. They found decaf tea on request. Quiet location with easy access. Free parking. We’re shown to a lower standard room initially but this was corrected promptly. Bath plug didn’t fit. A noisy guest upstairs. WiFi was patchy
- D S Newing (9/5): Good convenient base for Bath - Location was good, very close to Bath town centre
- walkable within 15-20 minutes. It was located on a fairly quiet road. Has good bus service although we didn’t use it. Parking was okay, we just managed to get a space. Room itself was spacious, bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable. It’s a convenient base for Bath town centre. No issues
- Lisa (9/5): - The staff are really friendly , we would go back again
- Mark (7/5): -
- Denise (10/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay.
Room was cosy and very clean, tea & toiletries were restocked and room cleaned every day.
Plenty of parking, and only a 20 minute walk into Bath City centre. Bathroom was a bit small in our room, but we managed.
Pillows were a bit to thin
- Martisg (9/5): - Realy good for money spent. Shower room shered with other rooms. Breakfast was limited mostly to "english" options.
- davyarch (7/5): pleasant staff, comfortable stay, handy for bus service into the city centre. - decent size room with the addition of a sitting room overlooking the rear garden Chairs in the dining room hard to sit on for any length of time
- Poe (10/5): Think outside the box.. a short bus ride from Bath centre. - I was attending The Charlatans gig at The Forum, so was looking for a nights accommodation at a very decent price as I had an early start to get back for work in the morning.. A friendly greeting awaited me, and I was told about how to get into town, which is just a short bus ride away into Dorchester Street Bus station, St Luke's Road bus stop just above the hotel on the hill. Comfortable bed and a hot shower, ticked all the boxes for me for my stay. Plenty of parking space to leave the car as the bus ran till late. There was nothing to dislike.
- Donal (6/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Nice hotel - Great staff, so welcoming. Excellent breakfast too. Facilities are all that I needed. Just a little bit far from where I needed to be, but Bath was really busy because of the Christmas market.
- Dan (8/5): - Location was perfect for us. Able to leave the car at the hotel and able to use public transport to and from bath market. Lovely four poster bed however the mattress was uncomfortable and dated needes renewing. We found the water pressure was low when having showers.
- Glyn (7/5): I thought it was over priced for the condition of the room - The location was great The bathroom was rundown and the shower and toilet were dripping all the time
- Wendy (5/5): Could do better - The staff were lovely. If we could rate on staff alone it would be 5 stars You'd expect the room to be dated given the age of the property, however the shower curtain was mouldy, the plug was thick with hair and there was a smell in the room that definitely didn't belong. The carpets behind any furniture were very dusty and there were cobwebs. We couldn't control the radiator either, although I'm not sure if that was deliberate or if it was broken.
- patricia (8/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): Friendly welcome, just slightly over priced for the age - Easy to find, nice friendly welcome. Less than 10 min drive to bath city centre Things are a bit too worn to be charging the rate paid. If it included breakfast for the rate paid... can be considered more acceptable. Room was small.
