Guest Reviews
- Markus (9/5): Sehr nettes Hotel. Gerne wieder.
- Thomas (9/5): - The breakfast The cold bathroom
- Maatje (8/5): Kom nog eens terug - Een Engels gevoel

- Yuliia (10/5): A perfect weekend stay combining beautiful historic charm with excellent, friendly service and great - We had a wonderful stay at The Hope Anchor. The hotel has beautiful interiors and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was both tasty and filling, and we especially loved that we could take our coffee to go in a takeaway cup. It was also very convenient to be able to leave our bags at reception after checking out so we could enjoy the town before our train. Highly recommended! Nothing .

- Larisa (8/5): Good view and friendly staff. - Good view. Friendly staff. A little tired decor but didn’t affect our stay. I know it is expensive to redecorate often.
- Hugh (9/5): Comfortable - Great easily accessible position in the town, friendly staff, easy checking, quiet rooms, fantastic views. No real ale
- Nigel (7/5): A perfectly adequate hotel, with good breakfast room, lounge & bar area. Ideally situated for town. - The breakfast was perfectly adequate with what you'd expect at a hotel of this ilk. My room was warm and cozy with excellent views over the surrounding area. The hotel was a short walk from the old historic town, which was delightful with some lovely shops and restaurants.
The hotel offered a great room to store my bike. The bed was too soft for my liking and sometimes I could feel the springs.
- Graham (8/5): One night stay in cycle trip - Good central location in Rye
The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good
They allowed us to store our ebikes in a room behind reception As others have said, the place is tired and in need of re decoration.
Our room was cold. The weather was chilly but there was no heating in the room.
The shower was sufficiently powerful and the shower tray drain sufficiently poor that within a short time the shower had to be turned off to stop the shower tray flooding.
A smile and a warmer welcome would have been good

- Jasmin (8/5): Perfekte Lage mitten in Rye.
- Catherine (9/5): Very pleasant stay. Great breakfast. Helpful staff - The location is lovely with great views across to Camber Castle. The room was up in the eaves and that would be difficult for anyone tall.
- David (8/5): Value for money. Very positive. - Location excellent. Quirky with character. A little tired.
- Cristina (10/5): -
- Hannah (9/5): - Location, breakfast, accommodations
- F. (5/5): régi - kilàtàs a reggeli nagyon egyszerū, a kàvé ihatatlan
- Helen (10/5): Lovely historic inn with stunning views and tranquil but central location - Fantastic location, stunning views, lovely original exposed beams in the larger rooms, tranquil atmosphere, great breakfast, friendly staff. Will definitely return again in future and highly recommend
- Helen (10/5): Beautifull historic inn in great location with stunning views - Everything, great location, stunning views, peaceful but central, friendly staff, great breakfast, lovely rooms with original exposed beams. Will definitely return again and highly recommended
- Sherry (5/5): Very tired & unloved - The staff were very courteous & helpful The rooms (we booked 4 double rooms for single occupancy).
All the rooms felt very unloved: chipped paint in shower room: windows could also have done with painting: carpet had many marks on it and could have done with a good hoover.
Overall, it was obvious that there is no manager overseeing rooms or the lounge area: the floor needed sweeping and the cushions plumping...

- Mary (9/5): - The location was perfect and the staff was super kind and helpful. Enjoyed their Happy hour.
- Stephen (10/5): We enjoyed our stay and will come back again - The breakfast was very good, the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc were all cooked well .
The staff were very helpful and polite.
The rooms were decorated very tastefully. The mattress was a little soft and we would have liked a bit firmer pillows.
- Francois-Joseph (10/5): -
- Thomas (7/5): -
- Sam (8/5): - Very comfy room, great views and good location in the old town. Absolutely brilliant hot and cold breakfast options, tea/coffee facilities in the room and good TV. The room was very hot even with the windows open.
- Stephen (10/5): - Friendly staff, excellent location with beautiful views and great breakfast. i can't fault anything.
- Eduardo (7/5): - The views were outstanding. Room was spacious. Overall a bit dated. Breakfast was ok.
- Jas (7/5): No frills property with a great location for a short stay - The location and staff were excellent. It is rather drab and dated. The breakfast wasn’t very nice, don’t pay extra for this. There are plenty of cafes around which are much better.
- bonzobill (10/5): - Good position, basic but clean and excellent breakfast Nothing
- Ronald (9/5): - Comfortabke, clean and perfect location. Excellent breakfast too.
- Carmen (8/5): - Very good location in the historic centre, friendly reception staff, nice comfy seating in public lounge. Room was clean with comfortable bed and plush feather pillows. There was a bottle of water, kettle, tea & coffee.
The bathroom had shower gel, shampoo and lotion in dispensers. Full English Breakfast was included and quite good.
During the day we needed to park and pay in a public car park, but overnight we could park for free outside the hotel. Room was small, basic and tired looking. The TV didn't work. The bathroom was very small with no room to put our toiletries. The shower only provided a sprinkling of water. I don't recommend washing long hair in the shower, it would take ages to rinse out.
Overall good value given the location, but you get what you pay for.
- lourdes (7/5): -
- Roy (8/5): Loved every minute, except walk to car park in the morning. Able to unload and leave bags in our roo - The breakfast and location were first class No car park, but market car park at £3.00 for 24 hours was OK. However , car park at bottom of hill and hotel at top other side of town.

- Victoria (9/5): A very friendly hotel - would definitely recommend. - The hotel is in an excellent location with superb views and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Rye is an expensive destination and this is a cheaper end place to stay, some of the decor felt a bit tired but it still had lots of charm.
- Felix (8/5): -
- Karen (8/5): - The location
- Anke (8/5): -
- Patricia (4/5): Upgrade needed - Perfect location, very nice terrace in the sun and friendly employees who arranged dinner reservation at a great restaurant for us. The hotel is very old and needs an upgrade. Its very dusty, all the cleaning in the world cannot keep up. The beds need to be replaced and heating system does not work. In our case the heating was on the highest setting, we could not turn it off and it was far too hot in the room
- Maria Fiamma (7/5): -
- Linda (7/5): Perfect - Location and breakfast both great Everything was fine there was no bad points
- sarah (7/5): Enjoyable stay good value for money fab location and staff. - The staff were very accommodating and friendly The room was a good size with lovely views. The breakfast was good. And a good location The room looked a little tired some handles were missing off things, however we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Salle d’eau vieillissante.
Mauvais rapport qualité prix.
- Fiona (8/5): Very friendly, great location. - Staff very friendly and obliging Wouldn’t say didn’t like it as everything was great. The only two things were the decoration in the bedroom was a little tired and needed a refresh, and the bed creaked.
- Moore (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): I have stayed here on many occasions. Always a pleasure. - The hotel is quiet and the bathroom was a proper bathroom not just a shower in a cupboard which can sometimes happen in Rye. Breakfast very good. Everything was great - nothing was wrong at all
- heather (10/5): -
- Francesca (8/5): - Great location, cosy room Everything was good
- Lisa (8/5): A lovely weekend away at the top of the hill looking out a beautiful views - Cosy hotel, nice weekend away for myself and my mum peaceful quite location situated within easy reach to the harbour and locals shops with cobbled streets I never even new existed rye is a lovely town Lovely hotel, just a bit tired in places.
- Juliya (8/5): Great - Central location A bit hard to get through tiny street with a car.
- Michele (7/5): -
- philip (8/5): -
- Rohan (10/5): -
- Clement (8/5): -
- Natalia (10/5): -
- Mihai (10/5): Although we had a short stay, we are very happy with the time spent in this warmly traditional loc. - The location up the hill, great facilities, lovely cosy environment throughout the hotel and room, as well as the cleanliness. We enjoyed our breakfast too!!
- Mélanie (10/5): - Graziosa struttura in una località magica! Camera spaziosa, con decoro tipico inglese.
Camera calda.
- Daniel (4/5): -
- Debby (9/5): Best value for money in Rye! - I had such a warm, friendly and helpful welcome which was lovely and much appreciated. The hotel was spotlessly clean and my room comtainedthe most comfy bed I have ever slept in…what a joy! The breakfast was great and the location of the hotel was perfect. I have stayed here before and was impressed by the overall improvements that have been made….the best value for money for a stay in Rye with out a doubt and I highly recommend. Nothing really…..the room looked a tiny bit tired overall but that is really totally overshadowed by the quality of the stay.
- David (9/5): Lovely quiet and peaceful location - The service and help provided by Rachel, both over the telephone and at breakfast was exceptional. Location was nice and peaceful. Liked everything, just a little bit expensive.
- Philip (10/5): -
- Samuel (9/5): -
- Graham (8/5): Enjoyed our stay, appreciated the happy hour and liked the breakfast. - Hotel needs to get parking permits to cover times outside those stated.
- GOVINDA (10/5): -
- Brown (9/5): Absolutely great! - The rooms were very good value for money, especially in comparison to others in rye. The area and location of the hotel is beautiful and on the cobbled path. Most of all the staff and general ease of the experience was excellent, will definitely stay again! There wasn't anything significant that I could find an issue with, just be weary of height, as it is a historical building some rooms have lower hanging beams, so if you're tall maybe request a room without, similar situation with some of the showers.
- Lauren (9/5): -
- DONNA (7/5): -
- Shelagh (10/5): -
- Derek (9/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Friendly staff, comfortable and ideal as a central base - Excellent buffet and cooked breakfast. Comfortable beds and good central location, overall very good value for money, but you do get what you pay for, nothing too fancy and a little out dated. The decor was rather dated. The rooms really could do with being modernised.
- Trena (1/5): Stay somewhere else! - I love going to Rye and was hoping to spend the day after my stay here wandering around but was too tired due to very little sleep - weekend ruined! Dreadful stay - loads of issues - am requesting a full refund.
- Nikki (8/5): Lovely hotel - Excellent breakfast. Great location
- Claire (9/5): Perfect for our overnight stay - Clean, comfortable, good breakfast, great location, great views In need of some attention but didn’t affect our stay
- Sarah (7/5): Good price and location; could do with a bit of updating - Great location; staff friendly; good breakfast included; bed and pillows comfortable Room smaller than expected, in part as it's over-furnished; shower not great (low pressure); decor a bit tired
- Iside (10/5): Vale a pena!
- Christine (8/5): - Location brilliant we were moved to the lookout and loved it thank you
- Margaret (8/5): Great weekend gateway - Location is great
- Marion (8/5): Very comfortable - The location, cleanliness and staff were excellent. We only had breakfast so cannot comment on other food, this however was great. I would definitely book again. The coffees could be better with a machine that can do espresso but everything else met expectations
- Josh (10/5): Amazing - The staff was amazing the reception lady helped us so much was a little confusion with the booking but the lady and the manager was very great and helped me and my family I really am very grateful for there help and would definitely be using them again also food was amazing thank you very much
- Julien (9/5): -
- Victoria (8/5): Lovely setting and comfortable - Breakfast offered was a good selection to suit all tastes. Could have done with some hooks near the door to hang wet coats rather than using the door hooks in the bathroom
