Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Linda Forster (10/5): Totally satisfied with everything. - Beautiful room in classic older building. Great café and bar nearby.
- Brooke (9/5): - people, ambiance, location I wanted a little more light at night- another lamp. Not a big deal
- Brad (7/5): Is this quirky or luxury? It's hard to say it's not both. Loved my stay but could be finished better - Pool area and bar. Those were really cool. My bathroom was amazing. Room was cramped and didn't have a closet. Also, the check in area seemed really odd - like it was just thrown together. Needs to be more finished.
- Nancy (8/5): A Cozy and warm place to stay - The rounding it’s beautiful for a tree Parking at the back of Holiday, but they do have ballet parking
- Debra (10/5): - Staff was awesome !!
- John (6/5): Great Location - The location was very nice. The check in process and the valet were great and efficient. The bartender was very nice and made very good drinks. The room had enough room for two. The the bathroom and the shower was spacious. The bed wasn't all that comfortable. It was a matress on slats without a box spring. The floor to the room creaked which was expected in an old building. People in the other rooms could be heard and people walking up and down the halls could be heard easily.

- Sullivan (10/5): A beautiful, well-located boutique stay that feels refined, welcoming, and worth every minute. - We absolutely loved our stay at Oakhurst. The property is beautiful, quiet without feeling sleepy, and incredibly well maintained. The café is outstanding, and the rooms are comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and well appointed. The location is perfect, an easy walk to UVA grounds. Valet parking was seamless and convenient. The décor strikes a perfect balance of stylish and inviting, and the staff was genuinely warm and welcoming. The pool and sauna were fantastic touches. Overall, it delivers an elevated, boutique feel at a great value and feels effortlessly refined without being over the top. Honestly, very little. If anything, just wish we had more time to enjoy everything the property offers.
- Vivian (8/5): - Access 2 rooms to relax. That I couldn’t park my own car and had to pay for it
- James (8/5): Extremely charming Inn run by very warm and welcoming staff situated on quiet street. - Extremely charming but a little dated. The staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Outstanding location (adjacent to UVA campus). Older buildings so we could hear everything going on upstairs/next door.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Mary (10/5): We had a relaxing and comfortable stay at the Oakhurst Inn. The food was delicious at the cafe . - The atmosphere was charming, warm and comfortable. The staff was pleasant, helpful and courteous.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Schmidlin (9/5): Sweet find! - Loved the staff, the aesthetic and the valet parking.
- Cristina (5/5): - The place is quaint and old-fashioned. The bed was small (full size) for two people. The room cleaning was insufficient: they only made the bed and gave us towels, but they didn't even wipe the sink. The lighting is not good and the room was a little depressing.
- Tracy (10/5): A gem - Tyler!!!! He helped my mom bring her luggage to the room - he had such a cheerful attitude and made our check-in. Antonio was awesome as well, finding us another room that was more accessible for my 85 yr old mom. Lack of parking, of course
- Brittany (10/5): - Very charming and low key. Elegant but not stuffy.
- Vo (10/5): -
- Steven (9/5): - Great beds, nice bathrooms and a cozy bar to hang out at next to the fireplace. Our initial room (#13) was right next to multiple airconditioning units, which made a lot of noise. Staff was great and helped us switch rooms so this was taken care of!
- Clifton (8/5): Right amount of value, comfort with an incredible location. Great staff! -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Comforting on a cold, cold weekend. - The place was charming, the staff helpful, the food at the inn's cafe excellent, and the bed remarkably comfortable. The distance between the inn and the cafe, which initially made the cafe somewhat hard to find. The fact that the cafe is not located in the inn itself should be made clearer in the description.
- Kathryn (9/5): -
- lisa (10/5): love how charming and historical this inn is - Love the historical nature location!
- Herman (8/5): -
- Luis (4/5): - The location is unbeatable. The check-in building and pool look nice. The bed was comfortable. The room finishes were old, the water pressure was extremely low in the shower. The pull out bed mattress was old and stained. Decor was haphazard and of poor quality.
- Michiko (8/5): - Location. Nice staff. Ants. Noises.
- Kathleen (9/5): Very happy - Friendly helpful front desk just.
Pool, close proximity to hospital, parking.
- Gilda (10/5): It was a relaxing short stay, I will definitely comeback and stay again. - Service, friendliness of staff, cleanliness
- Al (10/5): -
- Matteo (8/5): -
- susan (10/5): - The check in staff was incredble! They went way beyond the call of duty to help us. We can;t thank them enough!
- Andreas (9/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): Everything was quaint, convenient and lovely! - Everything was so quaint and comfortable. Location was great. We loved the common areas with the fireplaces, coffee machines etc. The room was a little small, but I understand they are historic buildings and not much can be done.
- Tracy (8/5): You can’t beat the location here and the cafe breakfast was delish! - The location can’t be beat - it’s as central as you can get. The staff was also absolutely lovely! I wish I could remember their names - one was a woman and the other a young man who says he lives about an hour away. They both had ready smiles and were quick to offer help. I loved the little sitting rooms in the main Inn. The Grinch decorations were priceless too. There were quite a few small things in our room that did not work that led me to believe there might be some maintenance and upkeep that is being ignored - a window shade that would not retract, bathroom sink that did not drain well, shutters in the bathroom that were broken.
- Darlene (10/5): -
- Gil (5/5): Based on the listing and reviews, it’s not what I was expect. - The location and quaintness of the grounds. The location was OK for a first time visitor to Charlottesville; but upon exploring, we found other accommodations that would’ve been much better, and more comfortable The rooms were extremely small with minimal amenities. There was not an elevator to get to the second floor; so, if you’re an elderly person with heavy luggage to carry, it’s not acceptable.
Valet parking is inconvenient. So that it’s not all negative; the staff were exceptional.
- Jana (10/5): It was a treat to stay here! - The inn is homey - but better than home. Beautifully furnished, comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Valet parking was a great perk. There was a jazz trio playing in the dining room one evening. Staff were helpful and friendly.
- Barbara (10/5): - This place is so unusual, unique , and has historic character.
- Engracia (9/5): -
- williams (5/5): -
- McCormick (9/5): Perfect location for an event at UVA - Perfect location, walking distance from UVA room was a little small and could hear traffic outside window
- lisa (10/5): We love the location and small boutique atmosphere over all - We love the location and historical houses The prices for the weekend were too much. We paid over $1300+ per night for rooms that usually rent for $350-550.
We also left 2 garments in room 3 that were never recovered after multiple inquires to the front desk and cleaning staff. Besides that we found the entire was extremely friendly and helpful
- COLEEN (5/5): Good location, way too expensive-$1000 plus for one night for very average room. - I have had the breakfast there before and it is good. I did not this visit. The room rate was exorbitant because I booked it last minute, nearly 10 times the regular price. I find that horrible for what felt like staying in a guest room of an old house. No q-tips, no in room water ( filling station in main area, but no cups) in a "suite" but the large window covering did not open. I was in this room for sleeping only, so having a sofa and desk did me no good. I have heard good things about this spot, but the price definitely turned me off, especially for a very average place. Mold in the bathroom around the base of the shower too. see above
- Rheborg (10/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): Lovely special occasion place. - Location near UVA and quaint atmosphere. Expensive, rooms were a bit small, the text check in that doesn’t respond to texts or phone calls has a ‘we’ve gone corporate and outsourced everything we could” vibe.
- Pauline (10/5): Very good - Worth every penny!
- Richard (6/5): Great location, poor value - Great location across from UVa, beautiful natural setting. Room was clean. Paid $600 for what I assumed would be upstairs room with nice view. Instead shown to basement room with no view. Could hear all kinds of trampling from room above. Sofa bed mattress was of poor quality, room didn’t even include extra sheets or pillows for it. The staff are friendly but not overly so, I don’t think they’ve been trained very well. Bare neon tube light over bathroom sink. After complaining Management did give us free breakfast at the cafe which was nice.
- Christopher (7/5): Good location, poor overall value compared to large chains. - Location is close to UVA and downtown. Clean room and OK facilities. Somewhat cute, but not as boutique as depicted. Not good value. Expensive for a small queen room on the bottom floor. Room was dark, no side tables. Almost no parking on the street but they have a lot that can only be used if you pay 20$ daily for valet services. Only the valet service is just the receptionists taking your key and parking you car in the lot, a complete joke.
- Brett (8/5): Fun hotel in a great location. - Charming unconventional hotel in several outbuildings in an urban setting. Cafe and restaurant/bar more or less onsite. Beautiful setting I was placed in a wheelchair accessible room though I do not use one. The room was spacious and with grab bars and other safety features but no table or desk, no chair. I think anyone would appreciate a place to work in their room.
- Mittie (10/5): -
- Trang (5/5): Tạm được - Vị trí Đồ đạc, Nội thất cũ
- Allysa (10/5): - Food, amenities, and ambiance were great Room was a little smaller than expected, and I did not know the pool would be open
- Susan (8/5): -
- Lisa (7/5): -
- Jeremy (9/5): Served its purpose for our 1night stay - Unique Not being aware of outside pool area
- Molly (7/5): - Wonderful staff and location Very small, smelly, cramped room. Didn’t reflect the price paid for the quality received
- Hayes (10/5): Highly recommend staying here on a trip to Charlottesville. Incredible location and great value. - Clean and well appointed rooms with a lovely sauna and pool area!
- Rhonda (10/5): -
- Vanessa (8/5): Great accommodation and location - For me the location was great. Walking distance to grounds and uni accommodation. Room was a good size with good draw and closet space. Close to the main house if you wanted to use the sauna and pool. Each house also had a separate lounge area to use which worked when my son came to visit. If you are looking for a bath in your room mine didn’t have one. Was fine for me but FYI
- John (8/5): -
- Serge (10/5): Great value close to downtown, verry enjoyable traditiinal comfort at an affordable price - Great facilities, comfortable, clean, quiet and great location. Outdated TV
- Betsy (10/5): -
- Renschke (9/5): Highly recommended. Home away from home - Great location. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cozy look and feel.
- Maciej (9/5): - Very nice accomodation in vintage house. Very nice area in the campus of University of Virginia. Air-conditioning device outside the room was quite noisy in the night.
- Arthur (10/5): Lovely place in convenient location. - Nice rooms and facilities. Pool was nice as was bar. Staff went out of their way to accommodate. Restaurant was terrific. Only bummer was no refrigerator or microwave in room despite their being plenty of room for both in the room we had. Staff always provided ice if requested.
- Tom (10/5): -
- Nina Lorea (10/5): - Toller Pool
- Burr (9/5): Superb - Ther was no desk in the room for my laptop
- Heidi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (8/5): Lovely inn, great location - Beautiful buildings in a beautiful setting!! Very relaxing environment. Disappointed with the lobby coffee area being out of regular coffee, and the limited availability of ice. I didn’t like having to ask for it and then not being able to get any in the morning at all without walking to the cafe. They were pretty busy and I didn’t feel comfortable asking them to stop serving guests to get me ice.
- Tricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peggy (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Mariane (10/5): PERFECT PLACE! - We LOVED staying at the Oakhurst Inn. The staff, the food and drinks, the entire place… just perfect! Pool area is cozy and peaceful, perfect water temperature… staff incredibly friendly, polite and proactive. Couldn’t recommend it more!
- Melanie (8/5): It was a short stay but very comfortable. I’d definitely return. - Room was very comfortable. Breakfast location was cute. Not much! It was a little confusing at first as it’s a collection of houses on a cul de sac. But very quaint.
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Danelle (7/5): Underwhelming - Staff was friendly & helpful Pictures don’t match reality. It’s smaller and older & not as nice as I thought it would be.
- Mary (3/5): Initial check in was a disaster but got better - I’m writing to express my concern and disappointment regarding both the experience I had during my recent stay and the delayed response to my earlier inquiry. Frankly, I was surprised it took this long to hear back—thankfully, it wasn’t an urgent situation.
Upon arrival, we immediately noticed the significant discrepancy between the room and the way it was portrayed in the listing. The pictures gave the strong impression that each guest would have a suite-style space, which clearly was not the case. When we raised this concern on-site, we were informed that similar complaints regarding your listings have occurred frequently, and that your team is typically held responsible for the misunderstandings.
We were advised by the property staff to cancel and rebook elsewhere, but also warned that doing so could result in a fee—which made the situation even more frustrating. To add to the confusion, the front desk staff member admitted it was her first day and was unfamiliar with the room assignments. A manager was contacted but reiterated that the issue should be taken up with your team.
Overall, this was not the experience I expected, and it left a negative impression. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously and consider reviewing how the listing is presented to better set expectations for future guests.
- Jessica (10/5): Amazing stay - Our stay at the Oakhurst Inn was great! The room was charming and clean. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The inn is in a great location to explore Charlottesville!
- Betsy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victor (10/5): Exceptional - There are things you need to know; while there is a climate control panel in the room, it doesn’t work. We arrived, the room was an austere 65 degrees, we had to beg reception to get it up to 70 — it was a cold day. Reception is a separate building, its entrance is indicated by a sign with arrows pointing in two opposing directions. To turn off the bedside lights in room 21 you have to unscrew the bulbs. The important looking electrical outlets by the bed don’t work. The main light switch must be on to light the lamps, charge your devices, make your coffee, etc. You can turn off the lamps at night by finding the appropriate buttons near the bottom.
- Stock (10/5): The Charlottesville area was beautiful will definitely come back again 😊 - The staff at the cafe was fantastic along with the food!! We also enjoyed the pool and bar very nice. We had ants in our room.
- Teresa (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (6/5): Okay but won’t return. - Location Way too many steps. They should have information on their site for elderly or disabled people.
Bed was adequate but for the room price it really wasn’t—it was just like the ones at Motel 6. Not that comfortable, and please, better quality linens, at the least. The queen was more like a double. No amenities in room; no fridge or microwave.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Connie (7/5): Nice but noisy!! - Quaint We stayed in a room over the cafe. At 7am they were setting up for bfast and it was crazy loud. Guests should be told about this as it was an unacceptable mouse level so early in the morning.
- David (9/5): I'll be back -
- Carolyn (9/5): Superb -
- Irina (5/5): did not like - the room was ok, there was barely any light which was not great, bathroom was big and spacious on the day of our arrival there was a private party due to that we were not able to park in the circle because ppl from the private party were parking there . as a guest of the hotel we were offered parking in the parking structure which was multiple staircases away from the room. at the end we had to valet our care, though we only had to tip the person who brought our car back the next morning it was clear that someone put a sticker on it that it was illegally parked. overall a rather frustrating experience
- Amy (9/5): Superb -
- Kristie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donal (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - The staff, location, ambience, rural but convenient, very attractive. The shower - very poor water flow.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Great front desk and valet. Cozy and inviting fireplace and decor. - Cozy Nothing. All lovely.
