Guest Reviews
- Dino (10/5): -
- Rebecca (8/5): Lovely stay! - Lovely big room with comfortable bed, a nice bathroom and a nice view. All staff very friendly and helpful who made us feel welcome. I didn't have time to make use of the pool but the spa staff were happy for me to just go and have a quick look at it and it looked nice. The grounds surrounding the hotel looked very nice, too. I didn't really like the breakfast, but I did have a vegetarian full English - maybe the breakfast is better for meat eaters. In the room, there was a stain on one of the bathroom towels, but other than that it was very clean.
- Oyindenyifa (10/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): Lovely room, spa and surroundings. Friendly helpful staff who upgraded our room to ensure we had a bath as I had request - Lovely room and spa facilities The bar was cold, and tv on constantly, no warm atmosphere
- Carl (8/5): Enjoyable clean and relaxing - Friendly staff clean good food Nothing
- Corrine (10/5): -
- Dennis (10/5): -
- Debbie (7/5): Picked the venue for the spa facilities and steam room not working - Very clean and comfortable room Steam room and lift out of order and struggled to get parked in main car park until golfers left.
- Joseph Tigg (6/5): - Clean and space Price
- alison (9/5): -
- Dominique (6/5): - The gardens are nice It’s old fashioned, out dated, old and not up to standard, the breakfast food wasn’t good. There wasn’t any staff around in the night
- Nicola (10/5): Perfect stay for one night, wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed the spa too - Beautiful location, very clean and modern Nothing
- Carolyn (10/5): Wondering - Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings
Lovely friendly staff Nothing not to like all amazing
- Richard (10/5): -
- Carmel (7/5): Very enjoyable - All of the staff were welcoming, professional and courteous. Dinner and Breakfast were good.
Room was a great size. Bathroom had both walk in shower and bath. Towels were fluffy and a great size.
Lovely grounds and nice outdoor areas to enjoy your drinks. Robes could have been provided for use at the pool. Spa reception could have been more interested in booking me in for treatments, this was just before 7.00pm on Sunday evening though.
Cafetiere in room rather than standard sachets of instant coffee would have been very welcome.
At dinner, on a Sunday evening mashed potatoes were not available.

- Jack (10/5): Very nice hotel. - Nice rooms, nice staff. A lovey place to stay, we will be back for the golf course!
- Simon (6/5): -
- Jessie (9/5): - The Lady at reception was very helpful and friendly
- Parag (9/5): -
- Becky (10/5): Beautiful - Breakfast was really good. Plenty of options Was already perfect
- Issy (7/5): -
- Stuart (8/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Friendly, clean, good value & in a beautiful setting. - Set in stunning grounds, it’s a lovely building that clearly was once quite something. Could do with more soft furnishings to make more homely
- Rafida (8/5): - Nice property, deluxe room has a spa bath which was very nice, excellent size room. Some of the staff are nice. They provided very small shampoo/body wash and wouldn’t replace them daily. I’ve asked why but they said we replace them every 2/3 days which I was very confused on as they are tiny, and run out with one bath/shower. Without the knowledge of them charging me, I’ve asked for some more shampoo but they gave me the whole set I.e. body wash, soap, conditioner and shampoo, and I asked for slippers as it’s hard floor and cold to walk on, and they charged it all at check out and they said you should’ve known as it’s written in the guest handbook, and they didn’t even say it when I asked for it over the phone or when they delivered it to my room which I found very sneaky and was taken aback, but they still charged me

- sarah (10/5): Bliss! Relaxed and recharged. Hotel is 10/10 - Everything!! The staff were amazing. The facilities were on point. We stayed one night for a short relaxation break and that’s exactly what the hotel offered. So tranquil and we have come home refreshed and recharged. We had a massage treatment and it was incredible. The food was served was insane and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Already looking for another break there but for longer this time There was nothing we didn’t like
- Stephanie (10/5): Fantastic stay at the Elfordleigh - Beautiful location, very kind and helpful staff. Our room was spotlessly clean with a stunning view from the bedroom window. Nothing negative at all to say!
- idith (10/5): - Very big room very clean
- Serena (7/5): Wonderful pool facilities, spacious room & well located - Swimming pool
Plenty of parking
Location Bar / food quite expensive for what you get
Golfers using hotel park instead of golf parking
Old fashioned heating that didn’t turn on until later in day, and I got cold and would have liked it on earlier
- Andrius (4/5): - Swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The hotel is too expensive considering the amenities and interior.
The bar is open until 10:00 p.m., but the coffee machine is turned off by 8:30 p.m.—why?
Breakfast is very poor; there’s no variety at all! There’s no cheese or meat selection for sandwiches, no vegetable selection; we ordered a scrambled egg and they brought a plate with no garnish—not even dill or parsley! There’s no presentation for the customers! In my opinion, the waiting staff are unhappy with their jobs! Somehow, there’s a lack of atmosphere and interaction with the customers!
It’s a shame—the pool and jacuzzi made up for our stay.
- Halpin (8/5): Lovely place , staff fantastic, clean and warm - Location was great !
Dog friendly!
Staff very helpful and happy!
Was clean warm ! Was busy with locals using facilities pool ect!
Beds need upgrades very uncomfortable!
Prices are high for food ect but got a lot. And should ask if want salt on everything!
Doors banging should look in to dampers for this !
Parking was bit of a nightmare with golfers and locals not respecting the signs for gest !
- Susan (10/5): Very comfortable, all staff were helpful and nice - Set in Beautiful countryside Nothing
- Ruth (9/5): Great stay! Amazing Staff! - Really lovely staff and comfortable and clean accomodation.
- Joshua (3/5): Wouldn't stay agin in a hurry - Was u happy didnt get a direct email from hotel concerning the poop being out of action as thats there main photo and leisure of the place was a huge stain centre of carpet, bathroom was minimal and basic...

- Cheryl (8/5): - Staff and facilities were amazing. Need was very uncomfortable and could feel the springs 😕 such a shame as niomallyvrge rooms are without fault

- Vikki (10/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): - Restaurant No drinking water provided. No fridge in room.
- Tessa (10/5): -
- Gary (9/5): Pleasant. - This is my 4th visit on H/O business in Plymouth, my last stay was not so good (I did send email) - this time around it was excellent, great room, wonderfully friendly welcoming staff (especially on reception) Food in restaurant simply outstanding - The duck spring rolls was like a party on your taste buds (although could have been a little warmer) & the Trout with noodles was delicious (I didn't want it to end) - I end up just going up to my room as the bar does nothing for me. Lastly love that you are dog friendly <3. Hope this helps. One slight downside is I sat at the back of restaurant left of the fake fire (shame not a real log fire) and my view out of my right eye was the unopened door (go and sit and see what i mean) that view & the conversations of staff etc spoils the ambiance/restaurant experience a little. Also the bar itself is so out of touch with the look & feel of the rest of the hotel & grounds, it's too bright, cold & clinical. I'd change it to earthier colours, nice fire, quality background music instead of awful soap operas on TV's
- Patrycja (10/5): -
- James (8/5): Really enjoyed it. Would recommend as it is close enough to Plymouth to be convenient. - Although the hotel is a little dated decor-wise, it is spotlessly clean and all the staff with whom we had interactions were excellent. Whoever recruits and trains staff is doing a great job. Clearly everyone is on message and understands why what they do matters. Restaurant is excellent. Lovely and clean with a good spa and gym and the swimming pool is perfect. The Wifi is dreadful.
Getting to the hotel for the first time feels a bit crazy as you go through a housing estate and up, what feels like, a long windy country road with a few nasty potholes. However after a couple of times it is really quite easy.
- David (10/5): -
- Ben (4/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): - Fantastic stay. Beautiful room, swimming pool, excellent food. Wonderful massages by Lesley and her colleague at the Spa. Highly recommended.
- mike (10/5): -
- Jenna (10/5): -
- Vicky (7/5): Lovely staff nice hotel - The pool and spa were lovely. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Made us iced coffees even though they weren't on the menu. The room was nice. Overall a great stay would stay there again. A little dated. Little things like handles are a bit loose. Could do with an update. Food was ok but I expected a little better for the price.
- Jane (10/5): -
- Raymond (8/5): - Service Lack of variety
- Gavin (7/5): Great location, wonderful staff, bad WiFi. - The room was lovely, the staff were increadible and the facilities at the spa were wonderful. The double bed was made of 2 beds so after the 1st night you noticed the bit in the middle. The WiFi was non existant which made it impossible for a work visit which is is unfortunate as I would have recomended it for a business location for the company I work for. The breakfast finishing at 9:30am was a bit of a rush in the mornings.
- ian (9/5): A good time had by all of my group - Edge of Dartmoor, gorgeous.
Very nice pool, good food.
Great staff.
Easy parking. Bar and bar area was a bit sterile.
Bed was a bit hard for me but lovely and massive.
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- Bryn (9/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. I stayed in room 19 and the mattress was lumpy and you can feel the springs. Needs a new mattress
- Charlws (10/5): Wonderful - Great location
Staff friendly and helpful
Room top notch and also the bathroom
Restaurant good - staff again friendly and food really good
Breakfast good too Room could do with a sofa
Shower needs a tray for soap/ shampoo
- Steve (9/5): -
- Sara (8/5): Great place to meet up with family - ALL the staff were extremely helpful and friendly Can't think of anything
- Neil (10/5): Fantastic little retreat - Staff were friendly, accommodating and very polite. The room was well kept and very picturesque scenery.
Facilities were very well kept and clean. Very much enjoyed our stay.
- Joanne (9/5): -
- Shanade (8/5): -
- Eloise (10/5): Stay was great we will come back!! - The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our room was huge and lovely and the breakfast was amazing! Nothing!
- Barbara (10/5): Stay was lovely staff helpful would definitely stay again - The setting the room was lovely The only thing missing was a book with the hotels dining facilities, leisure pool hours , house keeping and room service
- Rob (7/5): -
- Carole (9/5): Value for money - Will be back it was amazing There was nothing We didnt like
- David (8/5): Very relaxing stay - Good Weather
- Dennis (5/5): Cold and overpriced in a fantastic old house on a golf course with great countryside. - Location and room No heating Xmas eve and most of Xmas day, using convection heaters that barely did anything. We had a very overpriced Xmas dinner and it was not to a lot of people’s liking including us. Most people had their coats on all through the meal. They offered no compensation although we did complain to reception.
- Joanne (10/5): Pleasant stay - The lady on reception was so welcoming. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The evening meal was superb, cant fault it. Rooms are dated and I didnt have a desk to work. The gym doesnt open until 7 and neither does breakfast not good if your working away and have to be on the road. That been said for a getaway it would be lovely
- dianajulie (9/5): Good value, beautiful location - Beautiful location, well maintained, staff very friendly and helpful. Food brilliant, huge breakfast and we really enjoyed the meals in the bar and restaurant. Lovely pool with 2 jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Great for a relaxing break.
- Craig (6/5): - Staff, Bed, Size of Room, View, Breakfast. No info pack in room, no water in room, no extra pillows, no coat hooks, no mini fridge, small TV for such a large room, very small and limited bathroom toiletries.
- Victoria (8/5): -
- Celia (10/5): Disappointed due to barking dog - Hotel was lovely
Room was amazing
Brilliant staff
Wonderful food and facilities Our room was next to a quest who had a dog and every time the dog was left in the room on its own it barked non stop
Most mornings and evening for over an hour
Not the relaxing break we wanted or expected from such a lovely hotel
- Ruth (8/5): Lovely and peaceful stay with friendly staff and good sized room. Would go back again - Lovely hotel in a nice tranquil area. Good value for money and the time u booked and good spa facilities. Friendly staff and comfy Nothing
- Lucy (9/5): -
- Warren (8/5): -
- Nasim (9/5): Very very friendly staff, very clean room amazing view and good location, tasty breakfast, clean po - Very very friendly staff, very clean room amazing view and good location, tasty breakfast, clean pool and jacuzzi % 100% recommend and will be my choice for next holidayiday again.
Thank you for everything Everything was good
- Elizabeth (5/5): Fair - The room had pink stains on the carpet , no fridge to preserve baby food, or preserve cold water, room was unnecessary expensive, it didn’t match the room. I believe a macro-wave would have match the amount being paid for that amount of a room. Not having a fridge.
Not having a microwave
The staff not mentioning wifi at the reception
- Martha (8/5): My boyfriend and i went to your hotel for our anniversary, we had the most amazing time. - the room was absolutely huge, we found that an amazing surprise. the staff were all so kind and friendly, we both had a massage and the women who did it for the pair of us were so lovely. the dinner was lush, breakfast was slightly expensive for what is was. but the experience was incredible.
we spent most of our time in the pool which again was brilliant.
and the tv in the room worked well. breakfast cost more than i think it should have, and for the massage could have been longer again for the price paid. our bath had a problem with the water draining while the plug was in.
- Lymn (7/5): Having read descriptions of the hotel and read reviews I expected more and overall was disappointed. - Nice room. Bed was very comfortable. Good shower. Plenty of towels.
Pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all very well maintained and a great facility to have included in the room rate. Breakfast was very average and not the quality or variety I would expect from a country house hotel.
Cooked breakfast items were all pre-cooked and kept warm (so everything was overcooked) and did not taste like quality ingredients.
Continental breakfast food options were limited.
Room in which breakfast was served was gloomy and tired-looking, offering no views over the extensive grounds/golf course.
- Stephanie (10/5): -
- Kay (9/5): We will be back - Quite country location. Room was supurb, able to open windows for fresh air, staff most helpful hotel was able to provide every thing we required. I have had problems being able to call and speak to someone and have had to leave a message, it has been sometimes a few days before anyone has contacted me by which time I had had to make other arrangements, this was to do with booking a function.
- Nicholas (9/5): -
- Carol (9/5): Lovely time with family - Very friendly staff & professional throughout our stay
- Pip (10/5): -
- Cheri (6/5): It was ok, I wouldnt nessecarily book in here again, - Room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable, Leisure facilities were a welcome addition as I couldnt use my phone due to signal issues and lack of stable wifi so I couldnt work Wifi- when trying to work and the wifi keeps crashing it isnt good at all, especially as there is minimal phone signal to even hotspot. Very frustrating
- Lynne (9/5): The staff were all very friendly and obliging. Treatments were very good and relaxing. - The room was spacious and comfortable, bathroom very good, view lovely. No coffee on tray but we didn't ask for any only there one night
- Kate (7/5): Very enjoyable lovely setting, very friendly helpful staff. - Not overly impressed with the breakfast to be fair. I have had better There was no WiFi in the rooms, no shampoo or conditioner in en-suite which is a first. The kettle didn’t turn itself off. These are very little picky things but just would have been good to have.
- Laura (10/5): -
- Dean (8/5): -
- Jason (10/5): Very satisfied - Warm welcome, excellent facilities and fantastic food, cosy comfortable clean rooms. Nothing
- Kelly (6/5): It was fine. - Staff were friendly, good views of the golf course and the deer in the morning. You need to wear ear plugs, walls are thin and music playing somewhere in the hotel in Friday night.
- Steph (8/5): -
