Once we arrived, Charlie absolutely stole the show. Her hospitality is genuinely unmatched. She was there for us and our guests every step of the way. She ensured the check-in process was smooth, welcomed everyone like they were part of the celebration, and helped to make sure every detail was just right. When we hosted lunch and drinks by the pool, Charlie elevated the entire experience. She brought such a warm, attentive energy that made everyone feel taken care of and completely at home. The food and beverage experience was also incredible. The Pool Bar service was fantastic, and High Moon is worth a trip to Palm Springs all on its own. Every bite and every drink felt thoughtfully crafted and perfectly executed. The rooms themselves were a total vibe; stylish, comfortable, and somehow perfectly aligned with the aesthetic of our wedding weekend. Being at the hotel felt like an extension of our celebration, not just a place to stay. • lkg (9/5): Updated motel with great pool and pool bar. - Nicely remodeled rooms with luxury bathroom items. Pool and pool bar was a huge plus. The cocktails were very good and way better than what you typically find at hotel pool bars. The checkin was a little confusing. They have a self-checkin but it didn't work and you end up having to work with one of the staff members anyways. Location is good but it is about a 30 min walk to the main strip.

We loved the aspect of midcentury revival using an existing hotel. Staff went out of their way to make the experience exceptional and comfortable. Special shout out to the le labo. Bed and linens were all lux and comfy. Loved the balcony with the pool and mountain views. Loved the music. It was just great. There were a few little design things that could have been better - like the kettle and fridge in the room both having the same sort of plug so they couldn't both be plugged in at the same time, and the lighting at the vanity being a little dim. The food at the cafe was a little overpriced. I felt like we could have just walked to get better food for less money. $10 cappuccinos are just a little much, especially since we are already paying the resort fee. But all and all a good dining experience.

• westerntravelwizard (2/5): Nope - [Edit: After I posted the review, Royal Sun contacted me to express a sincere apology and said they want to provide a better guest experience and will work on the problems. Without my asking for it and without asking for anything in return, they refunded more than 1/2 of the original charge. That makes an important statement about their attitude toward customer service.] Dangerous. The shower is very narrow and there's a basket attached to the wall for shower products but it's right where you need to stand to shower so there is very little room and you're likely to bang that and the door a few times. My wife had bruises for weeks. The water barely dribbles out of the shower head and it is very high and widely dispersed so can't get a good rinse and showering takes a very long time, and the light keeps turning itself off automatically because it doesn't detect movement when you're in the shower. Sink is outside shower/toilet area, so that's nice, but it has the worst lighting at sink/mirror that I've ever seen--the two small lights were mounted very low and pointed down so your face will be in a dark shadow. No towel rack by sink so your towels/wash cloths take up half of your limited counter space. Very poor quality toilet paper, and only a few facial tissues left in box. Floor needed to be vacuumed, rug needed to be vacuumed and shampooed, and it is very thick and a trip hazard, and to make it even worse, the floor is very uneven so you have to walk carefully. Sliding glass door (which faces mountain view) was dirty, and handle had icky crud on it. Cloth headboard--how do they clean that between guests? Bed is OK, but not great--a little soft on top but then you hit a hard layer with very little give. Lots of road noise and neighbor noise (thin walls), and the room shakes when neighbors close their doors. No real TV service--no regular channels, have to sign in to special channels/apps to get anything, and several indicated they were free but after wasting time trying to get into them they weren't. Then it stopped even giving me the screen to try to do that. No microwave, tiny water glasses and tea/coffee cups. No drawer or shelf in the nightstand so you just have the top to use. 1 robe in room (didn't need any, but why one & not two)? Nice view of mountain to west which you are very close to. Pool area is OK. Room design & decor are much nicer than most. Bar/eating area was very nice, good 60's look but fresh, but it was small and most people ate breakfast outside by the noisy road. Even if it weren't dangerous and dirty, it would still be way overpriced for what you get, even in Palm Springs. And they charged more than the online price indicated, but that might be a problem with whatever the site was that I found them on.

The location was ideal for driving around and exploring the area, and it was close to a few restaurants and shops too. The room was a really good size, clean, and the decor was very cool, and there was even a small balcony. It has the feel of a motel, but in the most upscale way possible, which gives it a really nice character. There’s also a pool area and an on-site bar for drinks and breakfast. Check-in was really quick. It’s self check-in, but there was a staff member there anyway, which was helpful. Would definitely revisit in the future. The only downside was that it would be great to have some kind of online system for leaving a tip, as there wasn’t a cash machine on site or nearby.

• sanilb2024 (4/5): Based, Would Not Recommend - I booked a TravelZoo voucher and stayed there for four days this past weekend. While the room decor and overall motel was impeccably and tastefully decorated and the in-person staff very friendly, I would not stay here again. I was on the second floor and could hear the entire comings and goings of the people above me and next to me. It almost felt like I was in the room with the couple next door. This made it difficult to relax and enjoy my stay. Additionally, you have to text a call center to get house cleaning and when I requested it, they did not receive my text and never cleaned my room. To echo all other comments, the kitchen and bar staff is incredibly understaffed and service takes quite a long time. It's very clear management is doing everything they can to save on labor, even at the expense of the guest experience.

Everything felt clean, modern and relaxing. The pool area with the bar is especially well done. The pool was wonderfully warm, and we loved starting the morning with a swim and a cup of coffee. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and will absolutely be recommending it to friends!

We had the fire pit to ourselves at night and the pool during the day. The staff were very friendly! Drinks and lunch available by the pool. Breakfast at Half Moon located in hotel was delicious!! Fresh croissants and delicious options. Breakfast is not included. Be sure to get a room on the 3rd floor overlooking pool and mountains. We had 315. Rooms 315-320 are good options. If you pick poolside, no view and a gate blocking your view. I think our room was King Oasis. Great stay for the money!! You will need a car to go to downtown. Too far to walk. The tram is about 20 mins away. We love Palm Springs!!
• Ebony (1/5): My daughters graduation present, i wish it went better. Their housekeeping definitely needs some add - The hotel check in process was fairly easy. We stayed Thursday - Sunday on Fourth of July weekend . First thought was the hand towels were filthy with hair and what looked like a dirty foot print. They had complimentary breakfast of coffee, pastries and fruit but unfortunately both days my daughter’s orange was moldy when she peeled it. We received a text the first morning asking if we needed anything which was towels and toilet paper but it was never delivered. Next day requested the same thing and it was never delivered. It wasn’t until Saturday night a staff member (not housekeeping ) came by to grab our trash. I had to re-message them again because the room next to us 215was loud, cursing and arguing. (On the other side at they 217 had a dog that kept barking also) The staff at the bar were extremely nice and she enjoyed her carne asada fries even though they got my daughter order wrong but she was too hungry to wait. Told the Woman this when I checked out and she said sorry I apologized and said we hope you come back! Unfortunately we won’t but overall with help this hotel can get better.
• Jennifer (8/5): Good value for a moderate stay hotel - Clean, cute and close to everything. The pool is small, but we visited in the off season and it wasn’t crowded. The girls who checked us in on 6/7 were so lovely and really went above and beyond to make us comfortable and start our trip out on a good note. The concierge in the morning on 6/8 had an attitude and was very rude when we wanted to book our stay longer. We ended up just booking on booking.com instead of through him. The poolside menu changed during our trip to the summer menu. It would have been nice to be notified on our first day that it would be changing because we planned to stay poolside for lunch on the last day and wouldn’t have done so knowing this.

Rooms are much more modern and up to date. Didn’t eat at the restaurant. We had a second floor room with a view of the mountains. Could sit on the balcony for hours talking in the view. Would highly recommend.

• Alice (7/5): Need lots of improvement on the service - The property has a beautiful mid-century modern style, typical of Palm Springs. Good location, gorgeous views on the mountains, heated pool and cozy outdoor seating area. Free bikes to use and explore around. I don’t think this property should be a 4 star hotel: they send you messages on the Booking.com app every day,asking you if you want them to make your room and you have to reply before a certain time if you want your room cleaned and tidied up (for example, on 1/1 you had to reply before 9:30am when I suppose a lot of people sleep, considering it’s the day after nye). Doesn’t really matter anyway, because after the first night of our stay I replied that I wanted our room to be done and they didn’t make it. When I let them know, they apologised but the day after (1/1 indeed) they didn’t make it again: I’d have made a note about that specific room making sure that it would be cleaned and tidied up, considering the inconvenience of day before. Anyway, these messages thing just doesn’t work because guests should have the right to have their room made everyday and decline on the spot,in case they don’t need cleaning (which I don’t even need every day, but with a 3 day stay I’d expect as the bare minimum to have the bins emptied an the floor wiped at least once). Not over though: considering our room hadn’t been done on the 31/12 I simply asked to have a change of the small towels and 2 clean cups and glasses which we had used. I made this request at 4pm on the day, the day after at 11am they hadn’t deliver them to our room yet and went to collect them myself. The guy at the reception was kind and told me he was gonna waive a fee from my booking, which didn’t happen yet. Left the used glasses and cups outside our room for someone to collect, together with the trash bin that nobody collected from our room and there it remained, outside our room, until our check-out. Pretty sure this is not 4 star service. The mini fridge is completely empty, which is not usually the case with 4 star hotels. They have a beautiful restaurant only open for breakfast (?!

The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. My room was spotless, beautifully designed, and exceptionally comfortable, with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay.

• Adrian (2/5): Found a syringe/needle in room. Serious health hazard and inadequate response from staff. - Beautifully designed mid century modern room. Very spacious. Comfortable bed and large TV. Very nice pool with bar. Location is not in downtown Palm Springs, but very short drive away. Bikes available for guests to get around town. Very disappointed with the cleaning staff and management. Found a needle/syringe in the room. There is obviously no excuse for this, this was unpleasant to discover. We requested room cleaning, only to find hours later that they did not clean the room, they just entered and picked up the syringe. It obviously was a serious health hazard and I felt they did not take it seriously. I had no idea if I would find other hazardous items in the room later, so I had to request another cleaning. Staff also told my partner they would give us a partial refund, to which they seemingly forgot because I had to contact them and booking.com weeks later. When they did process a partial refund, it was approx the price of half a night's stay, which seems very inadequate for such mess.

• ninabB1452ID (10/5): Mountain View’s were breathtaking - The Royal Sun was absolutely gorgeous. The scenery and views were truly breathtaking, with clear, beautiful skies that made the entire stay feel unreal. The hotel was spotless, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. An amazing experience all around — highly recommend.
