Guest Reviews
- Rogers (10/5): - Where to start? Not struggling to park was great! Spacious bar with plenty of seating was a god send. Also great beer! Food was great . I had a special - Good burger!
- Crystalwater (10/5): - Extra clean rooms and linen comfy beds
friendly staff. Good wholesome food
- Jay (10/5): -

- Francesca Ausilia (6/5): Limited and disappointing vegetarian options - Nice room and staff. Great location. The vegetarian options at the restaurant could be significantly improved. For an outdoor sports centre, it’s disappointing that there are so few protein-rich choices for vegetarians. For example, some dishes included mince, which could easily be substituted with vegetarian mince - something readily available in supermarkets like Aldi or Sainsbury’s. We ended up having pasta and frozen vegetables, which unfortunately was not very enjoyable.
- Paul (8/5): Welcoming staff, stunning view, good location. - Stunning view. Mattress
- Kevin (6/5): Good apart from the lack of heating in my room - There was no heating in my room No 49). I mentioned this at reception after the first night. When I returned later that day. I was informed that the problem had been fixed. However it hadn't and there was still no heating on the second night. I had to use an extra duvet to stay warm in bed.
- Justin (9/5): Great option for those doing activities around Capel Curig, reasonably priced and helpful staff. - Really decent budget accommodation in a great location for activities in the area. Staff were super helpful and friendly, couldn't rate them any higher. Again a decent hearty breakfast provided which was spot on. No complaints, but just to note that the accommodation is a fairly basic standard with no frills. It would be great if they could squeeze 1 1/2 size beds in instead of the singles.
- Kelly Zhong (3/5): Good location but property needs massive refurbishment. It looks tired. - Breakfast was alright when there's food. We arrived at 8:20am on the 2nd day but there wasn't much left except for some baked beans and bread so my husband just had some cereal and the rest of us just did not eat. No offer from the stuff to replenish the food either.
The view from the bar. There was a big group doing a course for the week so I think the attention was to cater for them but those not on the course were left to feel uncatered for.
Out of the 3 nights we stayed, there was no hot water for 2 nights. I had to take a shower in the staff bathroom.
The whole property needs a massive refresh.
- Jasmin (9/5): Safe. Near Pen y Pass - My room kept me warm and comfortable.
- Deborah (8/5): - It was very convenient for my Mountain race which was starting at this location. Also an early breakfast service was put on for us runners as the breakfast times were too late for us due to the start time of our race. I am used to this happening and brought my own breakfast but had to find a spoon to eat it as there was no teaspoon in the room, only wooden stir sticks. I managed to borrow a spoon from the dining room which was good. The bed was comfy and room was warm and clean. The wifi was good for the area. The car parking was a bit restrictive. I got the last space. This may have been due to the Mountain race event being on. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Odada sampuan yoktu, sadece sabun vardi. Kalorifer yanmadigi icin tazminat odenmesini rica ediyorum.

- Adam (9/5): - The location was superb.
- Kirsty (10/5): Highly Reccomend - Great Location, staff were super welcoming & friendly. Would definitely stay again, the flapjacks were 5*
- Damian (10/5): - I stayed at Plas y Brenin National Outdoor Centre with my mate and had a great experience. Amazing location in the heart of Snowdonia with beautiful views of the lake and mountains.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, and a real outdoor community feel. Rooms were simple, clean and comfortable, and the food was spot on after a long day out.
Would definitely come back. Only downside was the late check in at 5:00, but you can enjoy the lake views from the bar while waiting, so it’s not too bad.
- Harriet (8/5): Good thanks - Good breakfast and dinner and clean room Mattress was a little saggy and there was a slight buzz from the air con or a generator outside
- CHRIS (10/5): Wil always return here - Stunning settings Clean and warm and great staff
- samantha (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Great stay - would love to be able to bring my dogs too though. - Fantastic location and facilities. Room small but room for everything, tea facilities nice bonus. Wardrobe and storage perfect for weekend. Everything very clean, towels soft, room temperature adjustable with radiator and window, comfy bed, reading light, desk for studying. Ensuite clean and nice hot shower. Would absolutely stay again. £14 for dinner was very expensive for what it was. Nothing wrong with the food, but £14 is a lot for what it was.
No pets rule is a shame considering the target audience, a lot of outdoors people would love to bring their dogs along- Bike and Boot do it very well and would be a great addition here too.
- Tomasz (9/5): - Great place and locations Everything was great
- Henry (9/5): Excellent accomodation to start hiking/scrambling North Wales summit -
- Zunnet (8/5): -
- Rose (10/5): - fantastic location and the staff were lovely and helpful. room was clean the only thing was the food was stopped half an hour early but it was a busy day and I did leave it too late but there was pub down the road
- Nicola (10/5): Plas-Y-Brenin is well worth a visit, exceptional all round - The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we were ok and amended details of our booking with no issues.
Accommodation we stayed in was super and really suited the staff team.
- Lee (7/5): -
- Maxim (10/5): -
- SUZANNE (7/5): - Friendly staff on arrival
Proximity to outdoors Consider oiling or adjusting fire doors as they slammed all night as people came in and out.
- Joe (8/5): Great for people on a budget, and everything is only a short drive away. - The location was great, having access to the bar and food was nice. The facilities that they offer in regards to training are great and the location is perfect for doing hikes.
It was good value for money.
But overall it's a good place to stay and helps people on a budget, would definitely stay again or recommend. The only negatives I would say are the heating wasn't working and we went during a very wet and cold weekend in November.
The pillows were quite strange and fairly uncomfortable, almost like an inflatable.
But overall it's a good place to stay and helps people on a budget, would definitely stay again or recommend.
- Kathy (10/5): - Views were stunning

- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional Staff to an Amazing Location - Amazing place to stay whilst I completed my Summit one morning. The staff were exceptional during my stay, and extremely friendly. Amazing recommendations and really helpful when it came to getting a few bits for the hike. Really lovely food in the bar, served by the best staff. The location has an excellent back drop of the lake and mountains. Huge thank you to the staff that made the trip even better Nothing. It was amazing
- Stephen (9/5): Institutional vibe but good room and facilities. - YHA and institutional but double orctwin room is as good as a buget hotel. Breakfast included. Excellent drying facilities for wet gear. To eat I suggest booking Tyn y Coed.

- Marcus (10/5): Hikers paradise - Convenient for hiking and availability of meals made it very convenient. Also, nice pub and bar by the river. Staff were great!
- charles (9/5): Plas y Brenin - This is an outward bound type centre whose prime activity is running courses on outdoor activities, for adults and children. As I think a sideline (but taken seriously) they offer B&B accommodation. The place is located superbly for Tryfan, the Glyders and Moel Siabod (which can be walked form the place). Because it is a centre running courses there is a overlap in catering for different groups which you can see abrades some other reviewers here. For instance there is a nice bar which does food in the evening but things do seem to run out. Breakfast is from 0745 and on our visit at 0800 the kids on a course all came in for their breakfast which may not be to the taste of some people staying like we did. Whilst it would be good to know about this in advance it is not a big thing (hint get into the breakfast room at 0730, have a cup of tea and then wait for the servery to open and you can queue for your cooked breakfast). The staff are uniformly great and helpful Kettle advertised in room was not there (yes, I could have asked at the reception but did not). Rooms are comfy but fairly spartan (not really an issue if you are out all day walking)

- Alyson (10/5): -
- Kieran (9/5): -
- urszula (6/5): Beautiful lake view, basic facilities - Beautiful lake view Very hot and loud room, not sure if we were by a boiler or drying facilities.
Feel it used to be cleaner when I visited in 2021.
Bit expensive for what you get (hostel style rooms) but chose this place due to convenient location.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Kyle (8/5): - Staff were really friendly and helpful regarding tips for the area.
- Rebeka (9/5): Estancia muy agradable - Limpieza, amabilidad, desayuno hecho en el momento
- David (7/5): - I liked the open plan spaces but also the cost bar was great too The timing of breakfast I felt was a little late could do with starting at 7am as was a bit rushed to get out for 8am plus lots of people all at once
- Dave (10/5): Simple comfortable and enjoyable - Comfortable, fantastic environment and lovely people
Greta food
- Rebecca (8/5): - Great location, the rooms were spotless and good breakfast, in summary excellent value for money.
- Sara (8/5): - The views, location, friendly staff and on site bar to work from in the day and enjoy in the evening!
- Alyson (10/5): Looking forward to coming again - The location is excellent for walking. The training centre is excellent
- Tony (7/5): - Bed was comfortable Lack TV facility
- Richard (9/5): A relaxing, uplifting and well-catered stay in a great location for accessing the hills. - Plas y Brenin proved the perfect place to stay for my daughter's and my climbing and hiking visit to Snowdonia. Everyone is involved in or oriented towards outdoor activities, the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, the rooms are well appointed and the breakfast and dinner are excellent - nutritious, tasty and really well cooked food, perfect for starting active days in the hills. We liked the unpretentious, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere it has. One or two of the building's fixtures and fittings are showing signs of wear and tear, but nothing that detracted from our stay.
- Michelle (9/5): Awesome views, amazing roast in a friendly atmosphere - Relaxing and friendly The reception and bar staff were amazing on Sunday and so was the Sunday roast! Monday morning Breakfast kitchen staff were not helpful and seemed a bit disorganised.

- Kwan On (10/5): - Beautiful lake view in morning. There is slightly fog flowing on water, like a fairy world. Amazing 🤩 Nothing
- Izabela (10/5): - We had the pleasure of staying at Plas y Brenin during our three-day visit to Wales, with the main goal of climbing Snowdon for the first time. The Centre proved to be an outstanding choice. Its ideal location, combined with a restaurant offering tasty food and stunning mountain views, made our stay truly enjoyable. The staff were consistently friendly and welcoming. The overall value for the services provided was excellent. We were also particularly impressed by the high standard of cleanliness throughout the Centre.
I would definitely recommend Plas y Brenin to anyone visiting the area, and we very much look forward to returning in the future. N/A

- Price (8/5): We will be back - Comfortable and warm
Very clean Food not open until a bit longer

- Carol (9/5): Fab stay, will be back - Great value. Own room and bathroom, and lovely views from my window. Shower was powerful and room had everything you needed. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. I came down to breakfast early and could help myself to cereals etc with no problem Bathroom had a slight smell. It looked clean so might be the plumbing?
- Matthew (7/5): A perfect base to explore from to see and climb Yr Wyddfa and surrounding areas. - The location was stunning. You could hear every movement made by the occupants of rooms above you - it is an older property however.
- Arshad (7/5): Good, but I will not come back - Staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice
Shower was powerful Beds were not comfortable
Small size soap, no shower gel or toiletries
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional - Omg this place is so amazing. The backyard is a part of the national park with benches to sit on and the lake right there. They have a restaurant and a bar where you can eat and drink overlooking the lake. The staff was wonderful and I am extremely happy I found this place.
- Mike (9/5): Superb - Amazing views. Lovely area. Friendly staff.
- Stephen (8/5): Very enjoyable - Location is excellent, views are incredible.
Very friendly staff Room is very basic but comfortable.
- Missyd (10/5): Great value for money - Staff were very helpful
Breakfast was great
Room was very clean
Location was great for my challenge
Good bar on site
24 hour staffed - night Fire officer was very friendly I could've done with an extra pillow
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (10/5): Great base - The receptionist was welcoming, the bedding was of good quality and the room was very clean. It met all of our needs, nothing fancy but very comfortable and welcoming There wasn’t anything we didn’t enjoy
- Jill (8/5): Fantastic location and value for money, would definitely stay again. - Location, price, staff, evening meal was fantastic value for money! Nit picking (as fantastic value!) but would have liked 2 pillows on bed and a kettle in the room.
- Edmund (8/5): Great location and reasonable value for money for what you get. - Location is great. Reasonable value for money. Felt a little bit in need of freshening up.
- Brenchley (9/5): Great week of activities and exploring the area. Great food for evening meals and Breakfasts. Top week! - Good location, friendly staff and excellent facilities
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Very nice location, facilities were good. The one big disappointment was that although there were 3 handpumps in the bar, there was no real ale available. Apparently, this was because the manager who normally orders it was off! That's very poor.
- Yana (10/5): Fantastic location, friendly staff very helpful, breakfast was very good. - Locations are fantastic, there a walk over river to woodland area. Breakfast was very good, I did not have dinner there. none
- Philip (7/5): A great place anyone who loves outdoor activities. - Evening meal available. Hostel type breakfast as expected. Got a packed lunch (All convenient, with no extra walking needed). Staff very friendly and helpful. As a solo walker, it felt like the right place to stay. Had the best drying room I have used for a long time. The centre has a lot of history. Maybe the room was a bit "institutional", but I slept really well.
- Gary (8/5): Very good - Everything was acceptable. Limited food menu.
It's a hiking center not a hotel
- Gregory_ab (10/5): Excellent weekend - Clean room, comfortable and great location Shower drain was a bit slow to drain otherwise no complaints
- Daniels (2/5): Disappointing - Location beautiful Dirty greasy bar chairs, food over cooked to death. Table sticky through lack of cleaning
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Samual (9/5): Great place to stay for a hiking weekend - Really clean and comfortable. Beautiful location! N/A
