Guest Reviews
- vincent (10/5): -
- laurence (9/5): -
- Alejandra (10/5): Genuine hospitality in a beautiful corner of the Loire Valley. - Beautiful setting, wonderful hosts, and a great breakfast. Olga’s cooking is delicious and made with real care. Olivier took time to show us around the Manoir and share his knowledge of the region — those conversations were genuinely one of the best parts of our stay. Comfortable bed, lovely pets, and an all-round warm atmosphere.
- Daria (10/5): - Exceptional place, historical, yet comfortable and welcoming hosts that pour heart into every detail; veeeery-very convenient location to see all major castles, great advice what to do around also from Olga and Olivier. A lovely dog and cat living on the territory, beautiful gardens and desserts made by Olga that make you wish you had an extra stomach - super-tasty! Dinner and breakfast at the place are also absolutely advised!!! It was one of the best stays we ever had, so only the fact we had little time
- L v De (10/5): - Superb location and hosts. They are lovely and full of advice! If one could improve something it is the number of electrical outlets, but that is just minor.
- Jean (10/5): A place for peace while visiting the Loire valley. - Such a peaceful oasis. We enjoyed our short visit by having dinner in the orangery our first night and were provided amazing options for our second night. Breakfasts were beautiful and the rooms were comfortable. Highly recommend.
- Amy (10/5): Perfect 16th century manor house stay for exploring the Loire Valley - Olivier and Olga welcomed us and went out of their way to help us with our plans each day and itinerary. The location of the Manor was perfect for what we wanted to accomplish. We had a wonderful breakfast each morning by the fireside and one evening they prepared us a beautiful dinner.
- Stephenie (10/5): Fabulous and relaxing stay! - Staying at Manoir de la Salle du Roc was very calming and relaxing. This is a place to stay if you want to relax and unwind after a long day sightseeing. The decor will transport you to another era. Olivier & Olga were very gracious hosts. They were warm, friendly, and helpful. We throughly enjoyed the included breakfasts & reserved dinners, which included delicious wine and champagne. The multi-course meals made by Olga were sumptuous and out of this world. We were always very satisfied and stuffed from our meals. Olivier offered great advice on places to visit and booked a delicious and informative wine tasting in their wine cave on the property. We did have to haul our luggage down the stairs to the 1st floor where our room was located, which was very spacious. We had a large king bed, 2 bathrooms, a WC, and sitting area. The use of the washer and dryer was a huge bonus for us. Transporting luggage downstairs, but we understood that there would not be a lift.
- marie pierre (8/5): -
- Sjoerd (9/5): Geweldig - Mooi oud gebouw, inclusief inrichting en tuin. Niets
- Peter (9/5): Lovely hosts - Beautiful old building with large garden and pool for summer.
- HENRY (8/5): Olga and Olivier were excellent hosts. They made our stay a nice none. - The breakfast was excellent. There was not shower per se. The bathroom needs updating for sure.
- Caio Mirabeti Leite (10/5): - The reception could not have been better. Olivier and Olga are exceptional hosts and did everything to make our stay perfect. We had an issue with our car rental, and Olivier went above and beyond to help us plan our days and even arrange transportation to the places we wanted to visit.
Breakfast and the homemade dinner were excellent, always with fresh and high-quality products. Our accommodation was cozy, very well maintained, and spotlessly clean.
We couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay in the region, and we highly recommend it to all visitors.
- Ieva (10/5): - Manoir is incredibly well preserved, decorated with great care and has all the comfort one needs for the holidays. The yard and breakfast served in the orangery with products from local producers are great, and the hosts are truly welcoming. I would certainly recommend this beautiful and authentic place. -
- Saskia (9/5): Fabulous - We loved our stay! The kids enjoyed the pool and boule. Fabulous breakfast every morning and 2 evenings in - Olga is a great cook! Excellent recommendations from Olivier. Excellent location too. Thank you 🤩
- Melena (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Olga and Olivia were amazing hosts and made my wife, son and i very welcome. The breakfast was exceptional and vry gener - The manor was lovely like something from a fairy tale with a great atmosphere and really liked how the manor was in 5 tiers and had original features. The property was perfect would of have liked to stay longer to explore it more and will definitely visit again.
- Melena (10/5): The stay in this beautiful old manor was like stepping back in timel - The ambiance and hospitality of Olivier and Olga was amazing Nothing
- Terry (8/5): - Excellent location and Olivier was a great host and provided great tips
Breakfast was adequate without being exceptional
Pool a welcome treat clean and good temperature Property could use a little bit of maintenance and tidy up
- Anton (10/5): A Whimsical Manor Escape: Rustic Elegance, Sweet Moments & Garden Serenity - Romance, tranquility and history!
Amazing breakfasts and dinners!
Perfect for slow mornings, long lunches, and golden-hour strolls.
Superb hosts Olga and Olivier ❤️
Thank you for your hospitality and fantastic time.
- Scott (9/5): Lovely grounds like living in a castle - Location and room and hostess
- Pollock (10/5): Loved our three night stay here - The best thing about this place were Olga and Oliviere, accommodating, helpful and stress free. We had dinner there the first night - excellent. Breakfast was lovley either in the Orangiere or on the terrace. Everything about the chateau was perfect, we would stay there again. For us, nothing
- Wojciech (10/5): Exceptional - It simply is a superb place, where you can immerse yourself into quintessence of France. We have spend there 12 nights and can't wait to visit again.
- Yolanta (10/5): Wonderful hospitality in a unique and special place. - Stunning location, beautifully presented and very comfortable, totally private but close to some great chateaux and wineries. Both breakfast and dinner (to order) in the orangery were fantastic. Olivier and Olga are wonderful hosts who made us feel immediately at home and helped us to make our stay unforgettable. We are already looking forward to returning. Nothing- it was fabulous.
- Jean-baptiste (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Excellent location in a characterful manor - Very friendly and helpful hosts. Breakfast was excellent and set you up for the day. Very clean and comfortable rooms The setting was exceptional and the history of the cave and older residence were explained by Oliver on a tour of the property. The driveway was a little challenging but ok.
- Willa (8/5): Quirky and fabulous B&B in the heart of the Loire - Olga and Olivier are the most welcoming and kind hosts! The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the Loire Chateaux and our bedroom was clean and incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was totally delicious, as was our one dinner that Olga cooked for us. Breakfast is eaten with the other guests, in a small orangery and if you would like dinner it’s imperative to book far in advance as Olga and Olivier cook for you. We liked everything 😎
- Alex (10/5): Idealic Stay in Loire Valley - The manor was one of our favourite stays in Europe! Excellent location in the Loire Valley and very beautiful property. The bedroom was perfect as well, with comfy beds and very spacious. Oliver & Olga were very welcoming, putting together a delicious breakfast - highly recommend having a dinner at the manor, Olga made a delicious meal. Oliver offered to share recommendations of attractions, wineries & restaurants - very helpful. Overall, we highly recommend a stay at the manor for your time in Loire Valley. Everything was great!
- Charles (10/5): Superb stay!! - Olivier and Olga are superb hosts, making you feel as if you are at home. Olivier is full of local knowledge about area attractions and history of the property. Olga is a sensational cook. Her table d'hote dinners are not to be missed. The room we stayed in and the public spaces of the Manoir are filled with period furniture, which Olivier and Olga have collected over time. There is also a beautiful 3 bedroom 16th century house available for rent for larger groups. We would highly recommend and would return in a heartbeat! Rien!
- Aylin (10/5): Excellent stay! We want to come back in spring / summer! - We stayed in Le manoir de la salle du roc between the Christmas and New year. We had a fantastic time there and felt like part of the family. Olivier, Olga and Eunix are amazing! They make you feel at home and provide excellent support to your vacation. The dinners were also outstanding. With la table d'hote concept, we could experience delicious meals and meet with wonderful other people staying there at the same time. Truly recommended. Olga is a perfect cook. Overall, a very nice place to go without any hesitation! Location is also great. Reasonable distance to main attractions, wineries and chateaux. Finding the hotel the first time was a bit of challenge.
- Shannon (10/5): Very personal, personable manor hotel experience, with just the right amount of interaction with other guests. - Perfectly situated for a stop on the way thru the Loire Valley to the coast. Authentic, very private and personal hotel experience. Chance to meet other guests at breakfast but not overcrowded at all. Olivier’s recommendations for what to see and where to buy wine were perfect for our needs. He also made it possible to eat at the manor after a long day of traveling in, despite having a full party at his „hotel table“ that evening. The driveway up would have been difficult for a vehicle with low ground clearance.
- George (9/5): Beautiful historic property, which provided good location to access château Chenonceau. it was also a property with pool - In the in the huge garden room for our dinners and breakfast, the historical significance and that the two buildings were built in 1816 and 1819 with overnight guest staying in the 1819 facility for which they were two apartments we were served in a very large garden room. Olga was a superb cook and Oliver was a great resource. Very good host. the puppy,Eunic was delightful to play with in the gardens surrounding the manor, which were terrorist and quite expensive. Oliver has done a great job, trying to make the property as visually pleasant as possible. There was really nothing about the property itself other than the winding driveway up to the Manor.
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Andrey (10/5): Olga and Oliver are great hosts sharing a unique opportunity to enjoy the charming style of XIX century. - Fantastic place, great host! We have visited this place with a group of friends and family (8 adults and 5 children) and each of us have found something special and unforgettable here. Tasty breakfast in the in the greenhouse or romantic dinner on the terrace all is possible at this lovely place.
- Karen (10/5): Everything was amazing!! The hospitality and the whole place was wonderful - Everything!! Nothing!
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - The property is an incredible château with beautiful gardens and well curated decor.
Olivier and Olga were fabulous hosts. The food was terrific and they were warm and friendly. They also have a very cute dog who our children fell in love with.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - The owners were so attentive and kind. They thought of every detail and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Although it’s a very historic vintage style chateau everything was very clean and perfectly decorated.
Dinner options on the nearby towns are limited. Highly suggest having nightly dinner at the hotel. The rate is reasonable and the service is five star.
The decor is amazing!
Washing machine and USA style dryer are available on property.
- Joni (10/5): 6 Star Manior with Gracious Hosts - This week was an incredible stay at the Manior with Olivier and Olga!!! The personalized service and love for what they do was so evident. Breakfast in the Orangie sunroom each morning was fresh and of local cuisine of croissants, fresh fruit, pastries and local cheeses made each morning by Olga. We had Olga's dinner at the Manior 2 times and wished we had done more. We enjoyed after dinner drinks and cognac and amazing wines each night outside on the patio. The property was amazing with flowers and plants everywhere. We took so many pictures!! Olivier accompanied us on our outings to wineries and gave us daily itineraries for the area.
We left stuffed and very happy with our new friends we know we will see again. Absolutely nothing!!
- Zoe (10/5): A beautiful and relaxing paradise with the most gracious hosts! - Olga and Olivier made us feel so welcome and the Manoir is absolutely beautiful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed a table d’hote, Olga’s cooking is fantastic! Olivier was helpful with suggestions for what to do in the area and assisted us in setting up on an on-site wine tasting. We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to returning.
- Delia (10/5): A lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful, atmospheric French Manor House. - Everything! The ambience, food and hosts - Olivier and Olga - were wonderful! We really loved our stay at Manoir de La Dalle du Roc and we hope to stay there again on our next visit to France. :) Nothing
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (8/5): Lovely place, convenient for Amboise - Beautiful building with an amazing history, lovely grounds and pool, stunning breakfast and dinner setting, great breakfast It was very hot so a fan in the room would be a good idea. Also, the food at the table d'hôtes (optional evening meal) was quite basic and didn't really showcase French/local cuisine compared with other places we stayed.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - What a wonderful place - loved the set up and the swimming pool in a heatwave was a lifesaver! Narrow gate!
- Simon (9/5): Olivier and Olga were magnificent hosts. We had an enjoyable and relaxing time. - Olga prepared a delicious breakfast both mornings we were there. Ample food, very fresh and Olga always had a smile on her face and was happy to help with anything we needed. The outdoor setting was fantastic.
The dinner that was served the first night was delicious. Nil.
- Scott (10/5): An exciting place to stay with many comforts. - Olivier and Olga were superlative hosts, taking care that we were comfortable.
The grounds are a wonderland, an old world manor set on a hill, with many places to explore
including the Troglodytic villas which we visited.
The breakfasts were fantastic.
We hope to visit again.
- Rupert (10/5): What a gorgeous place. Lovely hosts, easy going and welcoming. Near to many castles etc. make sure you get Olga to cook - Beautiful house with amazing hosts and wonderfully gorgeous breakfast. They will make dinner if you ask and it is fantastic. Welcoming and authentic French house with amazing additional house from the 15th century built into the rock. Stunning and beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Bathrooms lovely and everything clean and tasteful. Recommend this place 100%. It was all good.
- Diana (9/5): Unique setting and friendly welcome - the setting of the Manoir is stunning, has lots of history and authentic corners to explore. The owners are very kind and friendly, they were also very helpful in suggesting activities for us. Highly recommended!
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional - Olga and Olivier were adorable hosts, excellent breakfast, dinners with magic French wine. The location is ideal for visiting the most beautiful castles of the Loire Valley: Chambord, Chevernay, Chaumont, Blois, Amboise(Clos Luce), Chenonceau, Azay le Rideau which are about 45 mins drive (max).
- Karen (10/5): A special place in the Loire Valley - Olivier and Olga host the perfect place to stay to explore the chateau’s of the area. The historic Manoir offers charming period style accommodation and is a fascinating place to stay. Our room was sumptuous and spotless with a very comfortable bed and beautiful outlook across the valley.
Breakfasts were generous, beautifully prepared and with a delicious variety of foods including Olga’s home made crepes. We spent a wedding anniversary here and thoroughly enjoyed dinner in the lovely orangerie that Olga prepared and which was our best meal in France without question. Olivier matched wines to the meal perfectly and is a most warm and charming host. A memorable unique and special stay in this property. Nothing, all was lovely.
- Melinda (10/5): The manor is more than just beautiful accommodation it’s a wonderful travel experience. - The manor was magical with so much history and plenty of spaces to explore (grotto, caves, cellars). Oliver and Olga were wonderful and generous hosts who made our stay very special. We had exceptional breakfasts in the Orangery and lovely dinners on the terrace listening to the birdsong and watching the hot air balloons in the distance. The room was large, comfortable and beautifully furnished with the bonus of a separate seating area.
- Frederic (9/5): I strongly recommend this location, an great base camp to visit this beautifull area - We just spend two days in the Manoir with my wife and must say we really enjoyed the property and its park as well and the kindness of the hosts. The main house is so romantic , quiet and peaceful. Just few meters away from the Cher River which open up the opportunity for running 5 to 20k in an protected environment
Let's not to forget greatbreakfast prepared by Olga and Oliver , just perfect for an relaxing Week End. We came over in December and are looking forward to come back in spring with full equipment open ( external pool) but also the very ideal location to visit the 'chateaux de la Loire' region
- Mark (10/5): This was definitely one of the more memorable stays in a B&B that we've experience in France. - My wife and I had a very enjoyable two night stay with Olivier and Olga while visiting local chateaux. Our two room suite was comfortable and clean, the breakfasts were delicious and generous, and - something we particularly valued - our hosts were eager to share their local knowledge and make thoughtful recommendations. The site of the Manor with its gardens and various caves carved from the cliff was intriguing even in winter and I imagine quite beautiful in warmer weather. The area was going through a cold snap when we arrived and the room was a bit cold at first, but it warmed up nicely.
