Guest Reviews
- Beeton (10/5): - My fiance and I loved everything about the stay, EVERYTHING. Definitely booking for a longer stay next time.
- Dimitri (10/5): - There's plenty, but to mention, we liked how peaceful and relaxing everything felt, calm atmosphere, the very curious welcome from the animals, especially the Donkeys. The place was clean and comfortable, the vibe was quiet and calm, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. In all honesty, there wasn't a thing to our dislike throughout our whole stay
- Jackson (10/5): I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back and book the other cottages as well with friends - Location - feels like I’m outside of the city while everything I need from the city is in 15 minutes away. Also a lot of privacy.
Hosts - super friendly and flexible and communicate quickly.
Animals - nice seeing the donkeys and goats running around.
Facilities - nice braai space and undercover parking.
- Ruben (10/5): -
- de Wet (10/5): - Tranquil private setting away from the city noise. Greeted with a smile on arrival. Will make stay a habit for future trips. Thanks 👍👍

- Nadine (10/5): Quiet, relaxing and perfect place for a breakaway from a busy life. - My fiancé and I really loved our stay here. It is definitely a great place to take a break from everything.
We both would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind. Not only was the place exactly as advertised but it also met our expectations tenfold.
Not only did we both love our cottage, but our host is also really nice and very helpful. Very lovely person.
Bonus, the property even has their own animals! :D
This is definitely a place we would visit over and over again. There wasn't anything we didn't like about the property, our cottage and our host.
We liked everything it had to offer. Not only that but place exceeded our expectations.
It had everything we needed.

- de Wet (10/5): Jason was a fantastic host, the accommodation exceeded our expectations. -
- Heinrich (10/5): Excellent all around - One of the best places we have come across in South Africa. Jason, the host, was incredibly friendly and clear in all his communication. Upon arrival we were greeted with 6 farm fresh eggs (stamped with their logo, such a nice detail) and a personalised welcome letter. The unit is very spacious, with lots of light and literally everything you might need for an extended stay. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the decor is beautifully simple and elegant. Bed was very comfortable too. The animals in the camp next to the unit are very friendly and contribute to a very special and peaceful atmosphere all around. Before we left we already made another booking for next year.
- Elvira (10/5): - Tranquil setting, cute, friendly farm animals. The cottage is comfy and our friendly host has catered for everything you could need. The complimentary fresh farm eggs were soo tasty and delicious and such a lovely surprise. Would love to return soon! Absolutely nothing I didn't like.
- Voigt (8/5): We will definitly book a stay at Hen and Hound again. - Verry good. The whole setting.
- Leonard (9/5): - Wonderful location just out of the city! Jason made us so welcome and we could enjoy the sunset looking out over the field with the goats, donkeys, geese and chickens coming in for the night. The cottage is spacious and sparkling clean with everything we needed. Jason was available to assist whenever we needed.
- Nemaston (10/5): Absolutely amazing -
- Gunn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keamo2c (10/5): Peaceful farm escape with wonderful hospitality! - We had a lovely stay at this farm. The setting was peaceful and scenic, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Jason was an exceptional host: warm, helpful, and made us feel right at home. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and had everything that you may need.
We woke up to the sounds of nature, enjoyed the fresh air, and interacting with the animals made it such a memorable experience. We especially loved the farm eggs :)
It is also conveniently close to the wedding venue we needed to be at. 10/10 would recommend.
- Gunn (10/5): Fantastic - The location was perfect. Enjoyed the farm style living on your door step. Host was very helpfull and accomodating. Nice spacious open area living. All one needs is there.
- Janita (10/5): Memorable - I recently had the chance to enjoy some time on a farm, and it was a truly refreshing experience. From the moment I arrived, the peaceful atmosphere and slower pace of life helped me disconnect from the usual hustle. Waking up to the sounds of nature, feeding animals, and spending time outdoors gave me a deeper appreciation for the work and rhythm of farm life.
The fresh air, wide open spaces, and simple routines made each day feel grounded and rewarding. Whether it was helping with chores, collecting eggs, or just watching the sunset over the fields, every moment felt honest and fulfilling.
It’s a reminder of how beautiful and meaningful life can be when it’s stripped back to the basics. Highly recommend to anyone needing a reset or looking to reconnect with nature.
- Van (10/5): fantastic, will use this every time I travel to PE, I have also recommended it to other. - Was convenient close to my place of work. The setting is amazing with the animals around you. Everything was more than I expected.
- Thulisa (10/5): Excellent! - The cottage was super clean and beautiful, it had everything we needed and more. We were gifted some eggs from the chickens on the farm. It felt like home away from home for me and my husband. Jason was an excellent host. After we left my husband was already trying to see when we can come back 😁
