Guest Reviews
- charlesetta (2/5): - We have to walk server blocks to get in no one was available it was roaches in room my room window was open no linen only one towel I would like refund I booked 8 rooms everyone was dissspointed
- Edgar (8/5): - Busy area with lots to do
- Solange (8/5): - It’s a good value for the price - when you book in advance.
Basic furniture, no air conditioner or fan - luckily it’s not too hot.
Having the shower in the bedroom is a plus.
Sharing the bathroom wasn’t too bad.
The building is old, and the elevator not always work.
- Karolyn (2/5): - The quality of the room was very poor, there were stains on the bedsheet. We also saw a cockroach in the hallway. The area is loud, with all the noise from the street making it nearly impossible to fall asleep.
We were happy to only be staying here for 1 night as it wasn’t ideal.
- Tiago (6/5): - Good location in Chiado area, close to all Services. Not particularly bad, ok to spend a couple of nights. Bed is comfortable, clean sheets and towels. Old building with bad insulation but the noise from the street and other rooms was ok after midnight until 8a.m.
Bathroom is basic but good enough to feel comfortable (Room with prívate one)
- Michelle (6/5): - Found a cockroach the second I opened the door. It's understandable given that it seems to be a pretty old building and is in the center of the city. But it definitely made the stay unpleasant. Not a bad place to spend one or two nights in, but would not recommend for a longer stay.
- Rosane (10/5): - Very good location
- Adriano (4/5): - It may have been more our fault than that if the property. It’s a short step up from a hostile. It’s fine if you’re a young person travelling on a budget. It’s not suitable for older couples or families.
- Alexander (2/5): Disgusting, don’t book. Read review. - Horrible experience! Don’t listen to bot reviews. Booked the most expensive room and walked into a room that smelled like curry (from Ghadhi Palace), and septic from attached bathrooms. So gross, stayed one night and woke up to 3 mosquito bites on my arm and a nasty yellowish, swollen spider bite on my wife’s. Stayed second night at another hotel. Not sure how to submit a chargeback on my CC.
- Solomon (8/5): - Perfectly serviceable place to stay. Nothing fancy, but I had no issues. It’s a very touristy area but this street is a bit quieter than others nearby. I enjoyed my stay.
- Rachit (6/5): - The property is at very good location and lots of cafe’s restaurants nearby. The only downside for me was i was able to hear everything that was happening upstairs or in the passage because of thin walls. The staffs are really nice and helpful.
- Feng (2/5): - My bed is even wet. There is staff to find for help.
- Mohammed Kashif (6/5): - Overall location was good. I would advise to update the check in hours. Reception closes 7 you have to collect key from hotel 5 minutes away which was never told.
- Philip (8/5): - AA
- Luis (10/5): Simple, but does the job. Excellent location! - The hotel is simple but serves its purpose. The only notable downside was the lack of a mirror in the room, which was inconvenient for my girlfriend (it really makes a difference for them). Additionally, a shower enclosure instead of a curtain would be a nice improvement, as water did tend to spill outside the cubicle, though this wasn’t a major issue. Overall, I’d consider staying again for the excellent location, which is a standout feature!
- Sophie (4/5): - There were cockroaches the second we got there. The location is perfect and the staff was extremely friendly. To be honest, you get what you pay for. The bed, and the room as well, were on a slant.
- Nahid (6/5): - Room was uneven
- VIKASH (4/5): - Every time i opened the room door, it would get stuck on the floor,,, so u have to have a strong push n pull game.
Everythn is old n outdated..omg the windows were terrible.
- Sherry (4/5): - There may be better rooms with private toilets. My room only had a shower and sink
The showerhead and fixture fell i
Off the wall on me. The shared toilet overflowed and was still wet the next day
The location is great
Take your chances
- chee (4/5): Meh - Charge $1 for shampoo!!?
- Josue (6/5): - No air conditioning or ceiling fans, asked front desk for a fan which they brought to room. Hotel location is great, very convenient to historic center of town
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This was acceptable budget accomodation. However no exhaust fan in bathroom and 'AC' unit was set to fan (no remote) so room got extremely muggy. Had window which opened to filthy alleyway. However the place was safe, close to sites and quiet at night. Great for those on a budget looking for something safe.
- Chase (6/5): - Decent property, clean enough. Only issue was that there was a puddle of water on the bathroom floor when we arrived.
- Hilary (6/5): - I liked the situation very much
The wifi was a bit slow
A common area where one could at least make coffee would have been nice
- Dolores Anna (10/5): - Beautiful property and location and Very kind and helpful staff!
- Dilan (4/5): - Convenient and safe location but the property is extremely old. No iron, hair dryer, shampoo or anything you could easily find in hotels. Shower is broken, drawers are broken, bed is thousand years old. Very poor experience overall.
- Yenny (8/5): - Very good location.
- Brian (2/5): - I gave 1 star because there wasn’t a lesser selection.
The Staff was friendly and accommodated us with an early check in.
Shower didn’t drain
Towel bar fell off wall
Entry door to room stuck and was difficult to open.
Woken by women screaming and moaning.
Very little if none, sound proofing in walls.
Killed a cockroach in hall while waiting for elevator
Elevator interior had cracked tile and cracked and filthy mirror on ceiling.
Not enough hangers (2)
1 chair in a double bedroom.
Convenient location.
- Gary (8/5): - With air conditioning it would have shut out the constant noise from the street below, including that of regular refuse truck visits. Closing the shutters effectively shut out all the noise but made the room unbearably hot during the night. That said, it didn't spoil our 19 nights at the property.
- Fabricia (6/5): - Excellent staff. Washroom with problems
- Jason (6/5): Basic - If you're looking for a basic central location and a bed, this will do. The room had only a single wall outlet, the other one was six feet up the wall for the tv. Its a very noisy building, you can hear conversations like they're next to you. The toiletries they give out are pointless. The bar a soap was a few millimeters thick. One quick hand wash and its used up.
Overall, this establishment is just a bed to crash on for a night or two. For anything longer than that, stay elsewhere.
- JOSEPH (4/5): Stay Elsewhere - The primary things good about the hotel was the great location and comfortable bed. Not much else was good though. The wifi was very slow or didn't work at all which is a big deal, the shower was tiny and enclosed on two sides by a smelly, mildewed shower curtain - so there was no room to take a shower without coming in contact with the smelly shower curtain and water got all over the floor, and the only time someone was in the office was between 11am and 7pm - so, most people (including me) would be gone by the time someone came in and would not return until after they left for the day.
- Viviana Gonzalez (6/5): - This property is really old and although it was clean, there was a strange smell in my room I couldn’t get past. The room had no ac or heater and it felt damp/humid. My sheets always felt damp as if they hadn’t properly dried before they put them on. Aside from that; the bed was comfortable and clean, the room was clean, check in and out was easy. The location is really the selling point especially for the price.
- Clare (8/5): - Stayed overnight here and enjoyed the location. It is a safe place to stay and the rooms are comfortable. Right in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the old town.
- Stephen (6/5): - Pros- excellent location (near many attractions, restaurants, taxi pick-up, etc.)
-clean
-excellent price for where it’s located
Cons- noisy at night (primarily garbage trucks etc. at 4:00 AM as opposed to crowd noise)
- strange bathroom setup. I’m a tall guy (6’2”) and it was very difficult to use the shower. I can’t even describe the strange floor to the shower (I wish I took a pic). There was like a little faucet sticking out at the bottom that I constantly banged my heel into, plus the area to stand was so small you stood over the drain blocking it (there were like different levels to the shower floor but you could only really stand on one of them, weird!)
-no hangers in the closet
-no real ventilation (it rained one day I was in Lisbon and my cloths were soaked. After two days hanging in my hotel room they were still wet). A small portable fan would have been a godsend.
Would I be willing to stay there again? Probably, but I would definitely check to see what else available too.
- Derek (10/5): Very friendly hotel in great location. - Hotel is great location, staff were very knowledgeable on area and how to spend my days. Had vending machines to enable to get snacks and coffee. Hotel is a little tired but its location and great staff more than makes up for this.
- Helen (8/5): - The price was perfect since I only wanted a place to sleep and shower that was central to what i wanted to do in Lisbon. I had a room with a private bathroom but you could also go cheaper and have a room without. There is an elevator which I appreciated. There is a code to enter the front door as there is not always someone at the front desk. This is a basic accomodation but perfect for the price.
- Shan (8/5): - It’s a good stay.
- ALI (2/5): - the owner of the building is not co operative...i booked and need to change the date of stays..but owner of the building refuse it..so i lost my all money...i m very sad
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Excellent location in Lisbon. Room was clean. Had 2 single beds. Bathroom could use a towel rack but otherwise fine:). On sign in the young lady working the desk was very friendly and helpful! Wish I remembered her name. I’d stay again
- timothy (8/5): - The house is basic, but in a good location to explore,it cost reflects that not too expect high quality, good for the tight budget traveller
- Janice (10/5): - Very handy location. Very helpful receptionist. Secure access
- Pedro (2/5): Curry nights! - Great location but the place is old and has no ac no ventilation, if you open de window a very strong and intolerable smell of curry from a nearby restaurant will came into the room, my only choice was to sleep with the window close, my nigh was horrible I felt like was in a sauna. I do not recommend to anyone.
- Siena Erica (10/5): - loved my stay! :p my friend and i are traveling on a budget and this hotel was honestly a perfect stay for what we needed. only two nights in lisbon and it worked perfectly. no toilet in our individual room, however we had a shower and sink. no AC in our room :( but we left the widows cracked and it felt perfectly fine. even got a little chilly. it’s in a good place to walk around and find shops, sight see, and go only about 30 minutes by foot away from viewpoints. great location especially if you’re willing to just walk around and see the beauty of lisbon. also the staff were great, spoke pretty good english and was very helpful.
- Andrew (6/5): - This property was ok, nothing special. But not too bad
- Dominic (8/5): - Stayed at this hotel for one night during my 24 hour layover in Lisbon, and I would definitely stay again considering the price and location. Room was a bit outdated, no AC, and shower leaked a little when you used it. Very nice sheets and towels, and comfortable bed made up for the things not so good. Very nice, and helpful front desk person was extremely pleasant. If you’re on a budget and want a good location, definitely stay here!
- Steven (8/5): Appropriately described - Decent stay. Noisy around the area as it’s pretty centralized. No ac. No bathroom in room. There is a shower but no toilet. There was only two plugs in the room. One in the shower area and one in the bedroom. Staff was nice. Easy check in. Vending machines downstairs if you’re desperate and want something quick.
Overall a good stay.
- dale (6/5): - Very basic, but adequate for the price paid.
- Kulvinder (10/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (6/5): An ok experience. - Good location at Centre City. Staff ok but made no effort to provide basic tourist info such as ATM's locations and metro services. For eg. no city or metro maps provided. English was limited.
- sherri (10/5): - Excellent location!!!
- Sonia (8/5): - Nice place
- Barbara (2/5): - They won't give me my refund I'm owed for the second night...it's been a week when most hotels post refunds right away....
and were not even open at front desk when I was supposed to check in but expected me to haul luggage somewhere else to check and haul it back when their front desk was supposed to be open. Pitiful.
- yang (2/5): - Never experienced the hotel charging the customer for a packet of shampoo until I stayed at this hotel. We ran out of toilet paper two nights out of three. Gave us only one hand towel for two of us each day.
- Sally (8/5): Great location - Great location right in the centre to Lisbon. Reception open for check in 1100-1900 (then it shuts). Good wifi. We had a toilet and bathroom in the room, The bottom of the shower was old and could have been a little cleaner. Noisy with the buns being collected at 0045 each morning: take earplugs.
- David (8/5): - Clean, convenient, great place to spend a night or two for someone who really only needs a place to sleep and shower. Not a luxury property but great for affordable and basic accommodations. I got a room with a bathroom can’t speak to the shared bathroom situation. Very close to Rossio metro stop. One or two minute walk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good basic hotel - Very helpful friendly staff. Was able to get my luggage secured early after a call. Desk doesnt open til 11am.
- SEBASTIAN SAVIO (10/5): - Near to Rossio square
- Marisa (6/5): - Very basic room with shower & sink - shared toilet down the hall (kind of a pain but it was pretty clean and never saw anyone else using it). On a fairly busy street so had to keep the windows shut. But the location was really close to the Rossi train station, metro & buses. The staff hours were a little weird - no one staffing till 11am which was annoying since I needed to leave luggage for the day.
- Peter (8/5): Bargain price without losing quality - Excellent location. Nice staff, secure.
Housekeeping was by your choice but very good. Internet reliable and quick. No tv but no matter.
Absolute bargain price.
- ariel (4/5): - The rooms were probably at least 10 degrees hotter than outside/ the hallway. We kept the window open the entire stay and we could barely sleep even with it open. There is a private shower in the room but it was clogged and dirty. The beds were clean. This was really close to anything you would want to see/ do but the extreme heat that we had to endure was unbearable.
- Peter (8/5): Happy for the Price - Very central/convenient to everything. Chosen for its inexpensiveness and I think I got more than what I had booked in terms of room facilities (Basin, shower, but just shared toilet). Didnt expect the shower. Double bed. Great for the price
- Ronald (6/5): - Decent property right in the heart of the city. 5 min walk to rossio square. Not bad
- Orbelina (10/5): - I like the location because it’s close to everything, staff is vey helpful and the hotel was clean
- CHRISTIAAN (8/5): - It was great to have our own personal shower and sink in the room. The staff very nice. The best authentic Portuguese restaurant next door (Dois Arcos and Grinja Velha).
Location is perfect. minute walk to the trams, busses and Rossio Metro station 3 minute walk. Close to all the sites and restaurants.Hotel Baixa close by has live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
Central location for exploring other neighborhoods. Easy walk to castelo Sao Jorge, Alfama, Chiado, Bairro Alto
- Balmira (10/5): - Perfect location! Friendly but low key staff. Always some one at the desk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good would book again
- Mohammedsoeil (8/5): Excellent - I’m coming for Business purpose It was very good to stay
- RafaelaS (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful and lovely. This is the second time we visited Lisbon and we fall in love every single time. The receptionist was amazing, she accommodated our needs and made sure that we were happy and satisfied with our stay. Definitely returning in 2021.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We weren’t able to make it. A little disappointed since
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very basic but what we expected. Great Central location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is very goof, it is a tourist area and it is pretty safe, it is close to restaurants and 4 minutes walk to the metro station and 2 minutes walk to the tram and buses to go to Belem tower. The staff is very very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Although there was a washbasin and shower in the room I had to go down the corridor to the toilet. The shower curtains were dirty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the friendly staff that accommodated all our needs. the location is perfect to get to know the city and close to many transportation options. Thank you everyone for such an amazing experience :)
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great location - lacks comfort and basic facilties - Let's start with the good. The location is amazing - right by Rossio in the heart of Baixa. The staff also tried hard and were friendly, unfortunately they didn't have much to work with. We saw cleaners every day of our stay there. They didn't come into our room (our choice) but they were present.
No the not so good: It was 33 degrees and the air conditioning was broken. Not all rooms have air conditioning - only those on the 4th floor - and it was broken when we arrived and wasn't fixed by the time we left. (The kind lady at reception gave us her fan and we were very grateful for this, but it was still very hot). About 12 hours into our stay the internet went down, and we were without wifi for the rest of our time there.
The bed was incredibly hard and there was one kind of ok pillow and the other was barely existent. My partner likes firm beds but even he was reaching for the ibuprofen in the morning. I had to take a lot of painkillers everyday after sleeping on it. There are 2 sockets in the room, one of which was so high up I couldn't reach it. The place is generally run down.
You have to give in your key every time you leave the property, however there is no safe in the room, which leads to safety concerns.
Generally I'd advise you to pay a bit extra and go somewhere with more comfort and facilities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is close to the most important landmark of Lisbon.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Location in Lisbon was great...but on a busy street...VERY NOISY...impossible to sleep with the window open for fresh air.
Guesthouse in falling apart...in dire need of repair and renovation...GLOOMY!
- FRANCISCO PAULINO (10/5): Good and Very central - Lovely place very central in Lisbon you have all the facilities around
the staff are lovely and housekeeping very friendly !!!
I high recommend this Guesthouse ..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location of this guesthouse is quite convenient, although the area where it is located is not the nicest. Pretty much no amenities, I guess you get what you pay for. Some people on the front desk were really helpful and friendly but some were the opposite.
- Michael (6/5): Fine - unless the weather is hot - The room was small, with a little balcony. Everything was clean, there is a shower and sink in the room, and then two toilets in another room which is shared with around 6 other rooms- this was never a problem. The hotel is very central which is convenient for visiting Lisbon. You need to hand your key in to reception every time you leave, and pick it up when you return - this is really weird, but was never an issue really as there was always somebody at reception. Biggest issue for us was that the air conditioner in the room doesnt work - i spoke with a person in a neighbouring room who advised theirs was also not working. So top tip is do not stay here if the weather forecast is anything above 25 degrees- or you wont be able to sleep.
- Charles (6/5): The place has potential. Budget stay. - The staff was very friendly. I think some people might have walked away the moment they are told to turn in keys every time before leaving. The light didn’t work in my bathroom :/ I guess I could have told them to fix it but that’s not my job. Also my top bed sheet had hair and crumbs on top of it. I was too tired to have them change it for me (again, not my job). It had a nice romantic feel about it (the windows and armoire). If guests need air conditioning this isn’t the place for them. I didn’t feel that great about the stay. I doubt I will ever stay there again, but who knows, maybe I’ll still be broke in another ten years. Oh yea, location is awesome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location very friendly staff Nothing to Add Everything good
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very good location but very very basic room (toilet not inside the room). Noisy neighborhood but very central. Does the job.
- Mumtaz (6/5): 1 night stay - Location is perfect to explore lisbon and close to all the attractions, places to eat and shopping. The room itself with private shower room was very basic furniture was substandard and with stains. Only one socket by the door. Shower room was very small and smelt a bit of urine...looked clean enough...hairs on d bed throw...shutters and wood panels in very bad condition...and the smell from the indian restaurant downstairs quite strong...no fan or aircon so a sleepless night...bed was comfy enough...ok for 1 night but very tireing so if you have a busy day after consider a different hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is amazing. Stayed in room with private bath. Very small shower but for the price the location beats out small detail about the place.
- Julie (8/5): Location - Great location and clean. Friendly staff.
- Jonathan (10/5): Great location. - Very nice, great location. :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very central location, super friendly and helpful english speaking staff, and room was unexpectedly Prepared with a fully loaded small kitchen, plates, utensils, and pots.
- Herma L. (8/5): Great value. - The room and bathroom are dated and small but adequate. We had no view but that’s not what we were there for. The customer service is top notch. The area is also very good for walking and easy to get to sightseeing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Sparsely furnished but clean. No heat! Staff excellent.
- samuel (8/5): - very central, located just few meters from the rossio square, there are some rooms on the back that are noisier because an indian restaurant located in the building, I complained and was given a front room, the rooms are all larger most with double beds. the staff were nice and tried the best to give me a nice room, the wifi was good, there is tv in the room
- Harold (8/5): - It was a unique hotel perfectly located to walking tourists. Rustic, charming, a bit worn but very clean and hostess was very helpful. Parking nearby VERY expensive.
- Pawel (8/5): Great location to explore Lisbon - Great location to explore Lisbon and surrounding areas. You can get everywhere on foot or to train stations which are really close. We needed quiet place to relax and sleep after all day of sightseeing and that's what we got. ( for sensitive people note - thin walls, but we didn't have issues with that). Luckily no queue to toilet which was shared with other rooms on the floor. Good shower with hot water in the room.
- Kaleigh (8/5): A basic hotel, but an amazing location - This is a basic hotel in a fantastic location! If you are just looking for a place to sleep this is a great option, and I would definitely stay here again. When I arrived the light in my bathroom didn't work, and while it was late at night the maintenance person was not on site, but they made sure it was fixed first thing in the morning. Room was bigger than expected, and was a comfortable temperature my whole stay even though it was very hot during the day outside. Again, this is just a bare necessity hotel, but since I was out wandering all day that's all I needed!
- Verified traveler (8/5): GOOD - Overall staff is good
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Close to everything. Taxi to airport available. Internet did not work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Keep up the good work. I felt everything was perfect. Looking forward to seeing and booking the venue.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cheap, clean, central. An ok place to rest your head
- Luana (8/5): - Am excellent location, next of many tourist points. Workers was friendly. but the bath place was really short
- Kristy (6/5): - It was in a very central location. Easy to walk to many sites in every direction. It was very sparse and what we’d expect from a budget hotel in Europe. Our room was quite loud as there was no carpet anywhere and we could hear all of the loud keys in the locks echo down the hall and every footstep in the stairwell in addition to the public bathroom that we shared a wall with being used at all hours of the night. The plumbing moaned and growled all night long.
