- THOMAS (7/5): It was very nice. - Good! All was good!
- Chang (10/5): -
- Pascal (8/5): -
- William (10/5): Wonderful friendly service in a small but spacious boutique hotel. - It’s a beautiful wooden roofed home with exquisite, antique decor and lush a garden. Small and intimate. The water pressure lacked sometimes.
- donatella (10/5): Come stare in paradiso!!!
- Adrian (9/5): Wonderful. - Quiet place. Comfortable beds. Good food. Wonderful staff. N/A
- Rekha (4/5): - Breakfast was ok. but the service was very slow. Only 1 man serving a few guests.
- Phide (9/5): Beautiful Resort - The resort is absolutely beautiful. I loved the pool so much, the sun/pool beds, the huge beautiful rooms, the decor and design of the resort, the friendly and resourceful staff, the fact that the price is inclusive of breakfast and the resort is also conveniently located about 5 minutes away from Casaurina Road which opens up to the beach. The food offered at the resort's restaurant wasn't very affordable. It was cheaper to eat at a beach restaurant than in the resort.

- K (10/5): Amazing and Peaceful… loved every bit of it - Perfect 10/10
- Sören (7/5): - Pool, AC/Klima, Roomsize, outside sitting area insects in the room, shower not so clean, breakfast was okay but less protein compare to carbohydrates (1 sausage for breakfast ... could be like 4 pcs, that would be fine)
- Juha (10/5): -
- Memphis (10/5): - I loved everything, good host and everything was just perfect
- stuart (8/5): -

- Michael (9/5): Ein schöner Aufenthalt in Malindi!
- Barbara (8/5): Minus a few concerns, my stay was wonderful. - This was my first solo vacation, and I wanted a quiet, peaceful, and tranquil boutique hotel. African House Resort checked all the boxes and more. The décor is amazing, the garden is beautiful and well-maintained, and the cabanas were clean and extremely comfortable. At check-in, I wasn’t given a thorough walk-through of the room and the hotel. I had to figure out for myself how to control the fan settings. I found the refrigerator on day two. I wasn’t provided with the Wi-Fi password. Although it wasn’t a big issue for me, the TVs do not work.
Most concerning and a fire hazard was the lock to my room. I got locked in and had to call the reception to let me out.
- Miriam (8/5): - A haven of calm, refined comfort and gracious staff
- Carolyn (6/5): - Loved the decor of the hotel and the fact the terrace offered a relaxing area to avoid the direct sun.
The rooms were large and equipped with a fan and AC.
We liked being able to walk to the beach. The menu was limited and so was the quality of food.
The restrictions to bring in external food, meant we had to eat out more for a better dining experience.
The cleaners insisting on cleaning your room daily seek extremely wasteful to us.
The guests weren't very friendly to each other, which made it uncomfortable to share spaces with each other....but that was due to a certain type of clientele popular in this area.
There was only one member of staff on duty, so service was always slow, and waiting up to 2 hours for meals.... sometimes coming out cold.
We had to move rooms due to the bed not being comfortable.
Wouldn't recommend it for long stays.
- Mbogori (10/5): -
- Laura Perazzi (8/5): Location effetto wow - Location effetto wow, giardino meraviglioso, piscina molto bella. Colazione migliorabile, wifi era guasto, posizione buona, stanza molto spaziosa e curata, personale gentile e disponibile.
- PATRIZIA (8/5): - Tutto Wifi
- kaleve (8/5): A nice and peaceful stay. - The cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, serenity and quietness. Need more ideas on the breakfast, though it was good. Wonderful! Highly recommended!
- Luca (9/5): Nice welcome - beautiful place, they even made me a birthday cake
- David (10/5): - Chill place with friendly staff, nice pool, and location close to all things in Malindi.
- Kerry (7/5): - Ornate traditional clean lovely pool and gardens Complete lack of food choice for dinner. Only lobster and rice or pasta
- Bilsted (9/5): - En stille grøn oase. Stilfuld. Dejligt personale
- Samuel (7/5): brilliant - Great team Limited reakfast
- Elijah (6/5): Decent place for a night - Staff were nice Bad roads leading to property. No hot water available most of the time.
- Hans (9/5): Fantastic stay - A dream destination. A small boutique hotel with exceptional interior design and decor. Great breakfast and very personal service. Internet was scetchy at times but I learned that this was due to the provider.
- The-duke (6/5): Pleasant - The room was big and there is alot space The food is a ripe off overcharge.the hole menu is probably the most expensive in Malindi and the food is microvawe frozen food very bad
- Mumtaz (7/5): It was good overall - Breakfast was adequate.EcerIt was hard for the driver to find the property. Tried several times to get directions but no answer and had to ask around, Ensure appropriate directions and phone numbers are provided on the website.
- Alisa (9/5): Superb - The hotel is pretty about 900m from the beach. You just need to cross the main street. The pool and outfoor is exceptional. The staff, esoecially Mombasa is wonderful. The rooms need a luttle renovation
- Alisa (9/5): Superb - Its a very nice authentic cosy hotel. I think in total 8 rooms. Rooms are looking towards the pool. The pool is a goid size to swim. Its not on the beach, but you can walk to the beach, its inly a km away. The rooms are clean, sometimes we did not have hot water, but once we told the staff the water was ok. There is a safe in the room, airconditioning, moswuito nets.
Mombasa was a grsat host and tried everything in his power to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
I even got gluten free pancakes for breakfast. All in all it was a wonderful experience.
- Sigilai (8/5): Fabulous - Nice pool, amazing host, lush compound Overly ornate theme, could do with a bit less furniture
- Balena_blusafari (9/5): Superb -
- Mercy (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Awesome place with great Mombasa and staff - The property was awesome pool excellent Mombasa made our holiday what a true gentleman Steve welcoming Chef and cleaning staff hard working. Expensive food and no fridge
- Judith (9/5): Superb - Location and great staff and feels like home Nothing
- Kristiina (9/5): Superb - Beautiful place Restaurant didn't have many options available
- James (10/5): Awesome. - Super friendly staff, a very quiet and serene location, big room, and great value for money. None.
- Harald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Very comfortable character accommodation in lovely setting. HIghly recommended. - Wonderful property. Comfortable, spacious room, full of character. Superb evening meal and excellent breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff. Nothing.
- Joan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jack (9/5): Superb - This was our second visit and we thoroughly enjoyed the quietness and beauty of the place. African House is a very special place thanks to the utmost care being taken to curate the surroundings and make it like a museal place. For anyone enjoying a retreat away from the hassle of urban life, that's it. We informed the staff that there should be serious work on the water pipes and water pressure as the issue has been preventing water in the shower to run properly. If the owner's dog has a bad night, sleep can suffer.
- Karen (3/5): Sad, Tired, Soulless Hotel not near the Beach: Photos and marketing text are misleading - Gardens are well cared and Mombasa who is a lovely man and basically seems to run the entire place, staff generally friendly, not all. Where do I start. On the surface, looks OK, but actually after 3 days this is a sad, soulless tired place, more akin to a furniture warehouse, filled to the rafters with huge nasty carved wood sofas making it all very dark, with scratchy cushions, unnecessary huge 20 ft giraffes and elephants are overkill but nice staff -besides the receptionist watching the football on his phone when trying to talk to him. 3 Cockroaches, 2 within 2 meters of the kitchen, none of the seafood was on the menu and the food looks nothing like the photos on booking.com - the greek salad we ordered came with parmesan not feta, chips were great. Fridge in our room was a freezer so could not keep anything cool, room was good size and quiet, one of the other Cockroaches was sat in the bidet. Towels by the pool and bathrobes were stained, tired - we used our own. Dining room is soulless and the table cloth stained where left on the table for what might be years, the glasses on show had layers of dust and this started us wondering what the cleanliness of the this place and worse if things like the ice cubes are made with distilled water - suffice to say we did not eat or drink here at this point. ITS also a 20 min walk down a dirt track to the beach, NOT 300 metres, something the reception guy told us is an error of many years on the marketing sites. You have to get a TukTuk if you want to go to the beach. All in all, I would never return, never recommend and this is a sorry state of affairs for what may have been once a nice place, the only good thing is the pool, gardens and Mombasa a member of staff.
- Seafox (8/5): Very good - Beautiful design cultural and very hommy. Nothing
- Nooreen (9/5): R and R! - Loved the peace and quiet. The aircon was great on really hot days. The staff were so friendly and accomodating special mention to Mombasa a lovely guy! Not so much a not like. Lunch menu was limited if you chose to stay in for lunch. But on whole food was great!
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (10/5): Best place to stay in Malindi - Giovanna has created a really relaxing boutique hotel. Beautiful rooms and lovely garden. Good food and most importantly a super team of staff who are attentive and anticipate every need. A really class act and to be recommended Nothing
- Dr. (9/5): Superb -
- Diane (1/5): Tha premise is neglected, the restaurant area very dusty, the rooms have the dampness. No cordination of staffs. To conc - Swimming pool and the vegetation Emptiness and no one was available
- Josphat (8/5): The stay was good - The room had very spacious lounge. The parking area is a bit squeezed
- Shuga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Titus (9/5): Excellent - Charming property with great antique collection. N/A
- Ramesh (9/5): Great stay! - wonderful staff, especially the security gentleman, the housekeeping and Mr. Mombasa and Steven. Thank you all so much for having me. This place is very quiet and chill, and once the wifi started working well was great. Wonderful room as well and very comfortable and nice place. It was a bit expensive for my budget given that it is quite far from the beach and the wifi had troubles working at the start but overall it was well worth it and a great stay.
- Amanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): An excellent hotel. Needs to work on its food - breakfast was limited but for the cost perfectly satisfactory. - Well furnished. Quirky and with its own style. Nothing.
- Claes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jack (10/5): We love this place - Our stay at African House was the best stay during our six weeks of travelling in Kenya. The beauty of this place has been praised by others and needs no further additions. There is no other place which we have found so conducive to rest and read. We also enjoyed the perfect atmosphere and surroundings at the resort for reflection and conversations. While we dislike most of the resort typical ambiente of beach hotels, African House has a character of its own, away from beach tourism, and we were barely tempted to leave it during the week of our stay there.
- Johan (8/5): Good stay but too far away from the beach. - Great to sleep in a place that felt like a private museum of local arts and relics. Big toilet. Great breakfast. The bed was too hard. Otherwise everything was fine.
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Thomas (8/5): Would return again - Nice and quiet, great staff Probably due to off-season, menu item availability was limited but the staff did their best to support
- Trond (6/5): Pleasant - Mombasa is a great guy
Nice pool garden No/very poor wifi in the rooms.
The rooms are advertised as 60m², but we started out in a room no bigger than 20m² the first night and was too tired to argue. Second night we were moved to "The Love Temple" which was around 40m².
Charges twice the price for beers compared to the beach restaurant/bar, and not allowed to BYO to premises/room
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rudolf (9/5): Superb -
- Aleksi (8/5): Great getaway for a few days - -Wonderful staff and chef.
-Good food.
-Spacious room with a/c. -Old and worn out mattress.
-Breakfast could have included more variety.
- Kaspar (9/5): One of the best hotels in this area - - the location is in a very nice nature paradies
- very calm
- perfect for relaxing
- huge room an bath with high comfort
- lovely staff member
- delicious lunch dishes
- pool also great - everything was great
- Vanessa (10/5): Perfect ! - Nice place with lovely staff Nothing
- Patrick (9/5): Wonderful and memorable - The breakfast was wonderful. There was a variety to pick from and at the end of it, we were satisfied. And the personnel serving was friendly and helpful. I would suggest that the management needs to consider asking the guests where they would like to have their breakfast. I would have liked the possibility of having the breakfast at the comfort of my room, and not having to go to the restaurant.
- Nyro (9/5): Superb -
- Penny (5/5): Passable -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laila (9/5): an oasis perfect for a girls weekend away - It’s an oasis of beautiful gardens with very spacious and comfortable rooms and a great pool. But what struck us the most is the level of service and kindness we received from everyone. It’s beyond anything we have experienced on the coast. Water pressure in the bathroom can use a bit of an upgrade. Because it’s away from the beach, lunch and breakfast at the restaurant can be too hot. But this is not a déterrant
- Markus (9/5): Superb - A super nice small hotel that only has 8 rooms! It is very nicely surrounded by coconut trees and and other trees and flowers! It is very quiet during the day and you can relax by the pool! The beach is only a 10 to 15 minute walk away
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Rebin (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing scenery. Great place to relax. Fantastic staff members. Many thanks to Mombasa for his kindness and professionalism.
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Corrado (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mwagandi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iván (9/5): Very authentic hotel - The breakfast and dinner was awesome and the staff very dedicated to cover all needs and ensure an amazing stay. The shower was not so hot
