Guest Reviews
- Marie (9/5): Beautiful hotel and nice service , great location downtown . - Breakfast was Ok, the chilaquiles were good one day but the huevos a la mexicana the next day were dry and tasteless. Best thing was the fresh squeezed orange juice. The coffee was very hot and served in a non-heat proof tin cup, which burned my hands and lips.
Service was excellent though, and the guys on staff were attentive and helpful. My brother and I were the only guests in the hotel . The hotel is Lovely and the rooms have interesting art and decor, and there are nice outdoor terraces, colonial style architecture. We each had a premier junior suite ...my brother's room had an amazing painted faux-sky-cuppola and small outdoor patio with a jacuzzi (which he didn't use) and my room had a cute indoor seating area and a spiral staircase leading to a small private outdoor patio on the roof, with an outdoor shower even! The rooms all appear to be unique and have interesting pieces of art which I loved. .... There was no Spa to speak of, at least not that I was aware of. No pool, no sauna, no spa treatments, no massage services. Not that any of those services were a priority for me , but since the name of the hotel is Casona la Republica boutique hotel and spa, I thought I would mention that there is no real "spa" here.
NOISE: There is a church next door and other churches around the corner, so the church bells ring LOUDLY and OFTEN and start EARLY, so the sound could be annoying to some. Especially if there are holidays going on or local festivities or ceremonies. It didn't really bother me (I like the sound of church bells !) but my brother couldn't get a good nights sleep during his stay, even when wearing earplugs. And the nightclubs across the street are open late and there is loud singing and music until 1-2 am, pretty much every night . You can't avoid it..
- Mark (8/5): Very charming rooms in a great location with excellent staff put right next to a church which has loud bells ringing sev - It’s a beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, every staff member has been from very good to excellent.
The location is superb, close to many walkable areas with charming Colonial architecture. The only downside with this particular property Casona de la Republica was that the loud church bells next door were ringing every morning, often starting at 7am ringing several times, then again at 8 am ringing several times, then again at 10am, etc. which unfortunately woke me up every time as I am a light sleeper - and this is wearing 70db earplugs plus sleeping with a large pillow over my ear. This single factor ruined my sleep and for 5 nights I never got a good nights sleep, which affected my stay which was for an important family Baptism. Many family social events with celebrations and music in Mexico go on late into the nights, so going to bed at 2-3am is quite common.
If I were able to I would immediately install sound-proof windows on every charming room. This might not reduce all the morning church bells ringing but it could significantly improve the guest experience, since we all need to sleep well.
It is no fault of the hotel - Queretaro has so many churches within a densely populated neighborhood (each Catholic denomination needed its own church, but unless the hotel rooms have sound-proof windows installed alas I cannot risk losing sleep every day.

- Steven (10/5): we had 5 wonderful days we would choose the Delores room again! - beautiful. quiet. central location. helpful staff. responsive staff. nothing. perhaps more breakfast choices and stronger coffee! get the hot tub working!
- Steven (10/5): Amazing experience!!!! Will return. - Location, people and the history.
- Setsuko (10/5): We enjoyed our stay - We were pleased with everything Everything was nice
- Jatziry (10/5): -

- Brian02476 (8/5): History hotel in old town - Great location for exploring the old town. Beautiful old home with arcaded courtyard and fountain. Not many guests during our stay. Not much of a restaurant. So felt a little cold. Maybe it's better in a busier time.
- ronnie (8/5): - The property was beautifully and artistically renovated. I guess we were there off season, restaurant, bar and spa were closed. It’s also near a loud bar which is unfortunate. Still, it’s a beautiful and historic hotel.
- Sheila (5/5): Great location and comfortable. Don’t stay until their restaurant and bar are open. - There was no restaurant nor bar open. Was not told until check in that they were under construction. Would have changed our plans as my husband had to leave early for meetings and couldn’t get a cup of coffee or breakfast. The location is nice and close to the city center. And there are lots of places to get food., Just very inconvenient and not communicated. No restaurant nor bar on site.
- Daniela (5/5): Demasiado ruido de vida nocturna para tener eso precios - El lugar es precioso y la gente muy amable Es impresionante el ruin que hay de bares hasta las altas horas de la noche, no se puede dormir
- Laura Melisa (5/5): -
- Bernadine (10/5): - Great location and the property has a wonderful history as shared by JJ.
- Camarena Quiroz (10/5): - Buen gusto arquitectónico decoracion
- Birnbach (9/5): Excellent romantic stay. - Beautiful room, helpful staff, great quiet location. Would have liked a bar or restaurant on site.

- bob winders (9/5): Beautiful interesting historic area. We walked 6 miles seeing the sights -
- Mark (10/5): Classic and comfortable lodging perfectly located - Excellent location in a desirable location, an easy walk to all the historic sites in Centro Histórico. We loved the way the owners retained the grand classic old world architectural with modern comfortable furnishings and fixtures. Across the street is a wine and cheese store and a world class cafe to satisfy even the most demanding coffee afeccionado. The staff is super sweet and eager to please. An à la carte breakfast was available from 0800 till 1030, consisting of fresh juice, fruit, granola, yogurt, eggs as you like and chilaquiles with red or green sauce. This was more than enough to fuel our morning walks. There was ample lighted closet space with a secure safe. The bath was well appointed. We took advantage of the central courtyard, which was stunning and outfitted with comfortable seating and umbrella-shaded tables. Mostly minor points. While our room came with a small refrigerator, there was no microwave or coffee maker. We didn’t miss these much, but some guests might.
- Amy (10/5): Excellent; can't wait to return. - The casona is beautiful, impeccably clean, and well cared for. Breakfast was serviceable, but not amazing.
I did not care for the lavender-scented sanitizing product they used to clean the room, so I asked them not to use it, and they obliged.
- Alison (9/5): -
- Wolfgang (10/5): - We liked the amazing architecture with its many places to sit, relax and enjoy. It far exceeded our expectation shaped by the pictures in the website. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They made it a very pleasant stay. May be the breakfast drinks (coffee and tea) might be a bit better. But may be that's just like Mexicans like their coffee because it was about the same in other places. So, don't mind this remark too much. I prefer authenticity over imports just to please everyone. We travelled their to experience Querétaro, not a cooky-cutter all inclusive.

- Alexander (9/5): -
- Brenda leonor (10/5): - El desayuno es riquísimo
Me encantó la fruta en la habitación
El inmueble es hermoso
- Cecilia (7/5): - todo perfecto y gran atención falto agua caliente
- Peter (10/5): Wonderful hotel in the heart of the city - Beautiful hotel in a convenient downtown location. Problem is lack of parking space on a crowded street. Staff member Sam was extremely helpful both upon arrival and later in recommending places to go for dinner.
- Susan (10/5): Wonderful architecture, garden spaces, delightfully comfortable rooms and a sweet staff make Casona de la Republica a sp - A gorgeous boutique hotel close to all the fun and shopping in centro yet just away enough to be quiet. We stayed in the Delores room and had our own private terrace with great views of the cityscape and mountains in the distance. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. Our son stayed in the Hildago room off the main courtyard. It was every bit as lovely as ours - so spacious with the bathroom somewhat separated from the sleeping area. The staff was fantastic. Caring and professional. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The flowing water features and carefully manicured plants and flowers in public areas add tranquility and beauty to patios and the rooftop terrace. What a find! Nothing. It was wonderful.
- Perla (10/5): Bonito lugar - Pintoresco lugar con buena ubicación y habitación cómoda.

- Caelo (9/5): It’s an amazing property. Thinking about hosting our wedding there. - The property is absolutely gorgeous. I mean really over the top beautiful. I believe it’s also a national landmark as it was supposedly a meeting place of famous Mexican revolutionaries in the 1800’s. Before that it was the home of a very wealthy Spanish family. Additionally, the breakfast was delicious, cooked right there, and more than we could eat. The only thing I didn’t like about the property is that I think they could have furniture in the room that is more comfortable. To be honest, I expect most people don’t spend much time inside their room. But still, more comfortable chairs, I believe, would be an improvement. The bed was great though.
- Mendoza (9/5): Excelente lugar y ubicación. - Excelente servicio de todo el personal. Que aún teniendo un SPA, no tienen masajistas de planta. Sugiero que ya que las tienen que buscar, anticipen esto preguntándole al huésped.
- Letitia (3/5): I would not recommend it. - Location. Reconstructed and repurposed hacienda lovely. Breakfast not up to 5 star standards. Very, very basic, no choice, and poorly presented.
Mattress and pillows extremely hard and uncomfortable.
- michael (10/5): To short - It’s beautiful and close to the centro Price
- Gonzalo (10/5): We had a much better experience than our traveling partners who stayed in other hotels in town - Extremely warm and attentive staff. Beautiful property in a great location
- Melissa (10/5): Perfect stay in historic area - Beautiful small hotel in a lovely area of Queretaro. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Brenda the concierge was extremely helpful.
- michelle (8/5): -
- Martinus (7/5): Beautiful place but could be noisy due to the local bar close by. - The location in the historical centre is amazing. The room was very spacious and the breakfast, though basic, was very good. The place is close to a bar with live music during the weekend which we could “enjoy” till around 2am. Shortly after that around 630am the church bells started waking us up again. It could be that in other rooms you will not have this problem but our room was close to the street.
- Betty (10/5): This property is a real find! - I was not sure about this property because I did not care for the decor in the photographs, but this place is soooo much better than the photos. No bright red accents, actually very attractive. Attractive headboards and colors. Friendly and helpful staff. Great massage right on the premises. Tasty breakfast. Fabulous location. Beautiful updated mansion. On-site bar.
We booked one night, then decided we were having too much fun to leave yet, so booked another night. Then had too much fun to leave yet so booked another night! We highly recommend this place! Not a thing
- Ingrid (8/5): -
- JOSÉ MARÍA (9/5): Visita Querétaro - El personal y el edificio Que hemos solicitado la factura y no la hemos recibido
- Marshall (9/5): Stay here. Its a beautiful property in an ideal location. - The location is great! The building is beautiful. The room was large, with 2-story beamed ceilings. The bed comfortaable and the shower with plenty of pressure. I would stay here again for sure! Can't really think of anythiing I didn't care for.
- Angel (10/5): - Todo! El servicio de estacionamiento
- kenneth (9/5): Enjoy the best of Querétaro in an historic casona. - The property is beautiful and interesting. Our room was a loft with classy decor and varied lighting. The location is perfect for enjoying the evening in central.
- Andre (10/5): -
- Josefina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josefina (10/5): Beautiful days - Very nice hotel and excellent staff. nothing
- Lori (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (7/5): Good -
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juan (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing historical building and centrally located in the colonial center of Queretaro.
- John (10/5): Great boutique hotel in centro - like a old Mexican house with with rooms off center courtyard! - Location was great! We had a car and I did not know I could park it at the hotel so nest time we will do that. Would be great if they made that obvious on their website or when you booked. Or perhaps I just missed it. We also ate at El Encuentro which you can actually walk to from inside the hotel through a series of hallways and outdoor patios - even takes you through a very old kitchen that was used over 100 years ago! El Encuentro was great for dinner! Nothing - perhaps that we only stayed 1 night there.
- Zeplanezeplane (9/5): Great place to stay in a great city. - Centrally located near everything, beautiful old building with roof top terraces. Very close to old church that started ringing the bells ar 7:30 am. Beds and pillows were very firm.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Style and peace in perfect location of bustling downtown - Wonderfully renovated old mansion, stylish decor.
The hotel was an island of peace in an otherwise noisy Mexican downtown. Staff were wonderful. Breakfast was ok.
- Scott (9/5): Loved the casona. Didn’t like the wine tour they arranged for our group. - Amazing rooms! Breakfasts could be better.
- Jacqueline (10/5): We were awed by the exquisite craftsmanship exhibited in this property - Gorgeous historic property with beautiful stone walls, exquisite hand carved woodwork, and wonderful staff. N/A
- Ned (9/5): Superb -
- Toula (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Elegant and cozy!
- Gabriel (10/5): Relaxation at it’s finest - Fantastic property and beautiful architecture stunning rooms with various styles so your sure to find one to suit your need staff and reception and owner extremely warm and welcoming and accommodating I will definitely be back to stay when I’m visiting family definitely cannot go wrong with booking this hotel
- Lila (10/5): luxurious - Decor nothing
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bjorn (10/5): Fantastic!!! - Stunning architecture and classic furniture. Great location!! It was all good
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - The property was absolutely beautiful and we loved our room. We did not have enough potable water to drink.
- Emmanuel (9/5): Great atmosphere and comfort in a colonial building. - Being this a boutique hotel with only suites it was a pleasure to be a guest in this hotel. You get to know all the staff and the suites are just beautiful for more details watch my Youtube Hotel Review : https://youtu.be/4bwh0Ti-kYw The bar being closed and the too modest breakfast.
- Maximilian (10/5): The purest of idylls - The hotel is in fact even more beautiful than the pictures show. You wake up in the morning to the sound of birdsong, can revive your spirits under hot water in the rain shower and are then served an exquisite breakfast.
The coffee from breakfast can of course be enjoyed in the beautiful inner courtyard or on the roof terrace, from where you have the best view over Queretaro and its churches.
Afterwards, you only have to take one step out of the door to find yourself right in the heart of Queretaro's old town.
I felt very comfortable and the staff are there for you around the clock.
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Very nicel. Easier to fine drinking water.
- Benjamin (10/5): Incredible boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Queretaro, surrounded by an incredibly kind and attentive staff -
- Flora (8/5): Very good - The room was beautiful and so was the hotel! The staff was amazing! The breakfast was simple, but delicious and prepared with love. The location was very walkable to the centro and many great restaurants. We missed having an on site restaurant/bar. We felt like the price was just a bit high since it was lacking amenities of many hotels, but we were extremely pleased with the staff, room and hotel otherwise and would return again.
- Lynn (9/5): Beautiful hotel in perfect location for exploring the historic Centro - Gorgeous hotel with lovely courtyard and terrace for sitting. Spacious rooms with comfortable bed. The breakfast was quite basic with very weak coffee.
- Arturo (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (10/5): Everything was perfection. - Lovely, stunning Courtyard and elegant rooms!
- Carlos (8/5): Very good - Beautiful building, decoration, and architecture. The included parking is a good perk. Peaceful. Great location. The staff is kind and helpful. Lack of amenities. No room service. Same breakfast every day. Dark rooms.
The price is high VS what you get.
- Yazmin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (10/5): Excellent: would look forward to going again if we had the chance. - This lovely hotel is in the centre of the Centro Historico and it is very easy to walk to all the beautiful squares which make this a Unesco World Heritage site. There is a very friendly bar opposite and we ate at a nearby restaurant Tikua (which was excellent) when we were not working. The hotel is comprised of a variety of different rooms, mainly I think suites effectively. We had a beautiful bedroom with a linked bathroom and upstairs a sitting room. This was around £100 per night. The rooms are around a leafy courtyard or a roof terrace. That roof terrace is lovely, with plants and trees. There is a bar but this was not open whilst we were there. I really loved that this is an ancient building lovingly restored by its architect owner. From a pre Spanish irrigation system to the enormous doors with Art Nouveau metalwork and restored painted walls. So beautiful and matched with modern (but in keeping) additions where necessary. I would be delighted to go there again. The breakfasts were great. We had fresh fruit, a small amount of yoghurt and Chilaquiles with green salsa and eggs. Excellent. The staff were very very helpful indeed. The cook wrote out her recipe for green salsa, which was lovely! Nothing.
- Jorge (10/5): An Oasis in the middle of the city. - Amazing staff and location!!!
- Avraham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikolaj (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coelho (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hector (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (8/5): Pleasant surroundings, service was inot up to Tes Ros standards - The hotel is beautiful and very clean. Tall ceilings with ample space. There is a wine store with Queretaro wines across the street so could enjoy a glass of wine outside our door on comfortable seating beside the water fountains. Very comfortable bed. The attached restaurant El Encuentro was exceptional. Considering the header of this property read “and Spa” the spa was underwhelming. Spa personnel was very good but for a facial, they had no equipment a high end spa would have. Front desk staff accepted my Spa reservation at 8:00 am that morning for a 2:00 pm treatment and then asked for a credit card as the spa is a separate business. I paid without issue then later received a phone call from a gentleman at the front desk asking if I could change the time. I could not, and was advised appointments need to be made the day prior. I would have done so but on the spa menu, I found no mention of such. In the end, they kept my appointed time. Showers were lukewarm at best. Wifi not working despite checking with front desk. Lobby music was quite loud after10:00 pm
- Jeff (10/5): We had the most relaxing time. - Breakfast was delicious.
We had many choices and fast service.
We ate at a table right outside our door.
Beautiful space and the fountains are relaxing. We loved everything about the hotel
The staff was friendly and went out of there way to help us.
I cant say anything negative about the hotel.
- Margarita (8/5): Very good - The interior design The cofee
- Randall (10/5): Excellent location, beautiful suites & great staff. - This hotel is a gem. Amazing location in the heart of the historic area, beautiful suites and fantastic & attentive staff made for a great stay. Cynthia & JJ were very professional and friendly. We wish we could have stayed longer.
- Deanna (10/5): Staff, location and rooftop terrace just to name a few things we loved! - Our stay was amazing! The staff, especially Cynthia and Adolfo, were so helpful with questions and great restaurant recommendations! They also arranged airport pickup and a private tour with Paco, who was on-time, great car and full of information…highly recommend him! The facilities are great, and we loved the rooftop terrace to enjoy a glass of wine. Rooms are large, and beds are very comfortable. Everything was clean and we always felt safe at the hotel and walking around the center to and from the hotel. The location cannot be beat! We would definitely stay here again! Nothing…everything was great!
- Cherica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (7/5): Good -
- Rebecca (10/5): Fabulous! Designers delight. Will return! - Gorgeous property. Steeped in fascinating history. Elegant. Impeccable design features throughout. It’s a must see creative delight. Stop here before San Miguel and stay! Nothing.
- Edward (9/5): Beautiful restored historical home turnes into an eclectic boutique hotel. - Casona was a beautifully restored historical home with an eclectic flare. Very clean room that was nicely appointed. The in-room jacuzzi was a plus. The roof top deck had a lot of plants and seating. It would be a great space for a medium sized party or business social gathering. In my case morning coffee and reading. The staff were wonderful although not all english speaking. But that was not a detractor at all. I do not have any negative feedback. The hotel met our expectations and then some.
