- haravaagie (10/5): Ms - Upon arrival, the reception staff were warm and professional, and the check-in process was quick. My room was clean, spacious, and well-ventilated. The bed was comfortable, and basic amenities such as Wi-Fi, hot water, and television were available. Meals were well prepared and served on time. The conference facilities were adequate, and the environment was quiet and suitable for the conference. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel for both business and leisure visits. However, improving on the air conditioning should be installed.

- Trek35355197089 (8/5): Back at Troutbeck - There we were with the Chidren ready to enjoy the mountain resort, take in my Son's birthday and take out 2025. Fungai kindly organised the cake, the hotel staff sang for him at breaklast together with some friends who were also holidaying there. Housekeeping did a lovely birthday wish with rose petals on his bed and gave him a fruit bouquet. Thank you, thank you! Activities enjoyed. Pity there is a buidling that looks the part but no squash. Volleyball court needs attention. As does the a la carte menu. I am one for a hot beverage maker and what better place than in the misty environs but I didn't see it. I did see the fireworks though and had a great time joined by my Brother, some of his family and Vazukuru. It was second time around and we are not ruling out a third. it would be good though if by the time that happens, the hotel has ruled out some of the concerns here by sorting them!

Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the porters who are always on hand to help. We enjoyed the boat cruise and canoe experience which we recommend to fully appreciate the beauty of the hotel's amazing location. Very good quality sleep and shower facilities with variable pressure shower with lots of hot water. Resort rating was slightly let down by lengthy check in and room not being ready at check in time, check-out was very long, there were limited activities for children (no quad bikes for children which they would have enjoyed), disrepair of some room facilities. We expected better from a 4-star resort. Other than that, it was a memorable stay and I still recommend it. I am willing to give Troutbeck Resort another visit in a year's time to see if they have made improvements to my concerns for me to give them all 5 stars.

- jguni (10/5): Julius Guni - Improve on electric blankets in particular underblanket. The hotel culture in particular at the entrance gate is adorable and outstanding. The environment is clean and comfortable. Staff were help helpful while a few were inept. One waiter in the restaurant area could not understand what a non-sugared juice was and subsequently no senior could come to his rescue. Generally, hospitality was great amid power challenges.
- davieskaya (4/5): Worst meal of our trip - We went to the Hotel for a lunchtime meal in the restaurant. It was terrible and the 2*s are for our server as he was lovely but that was all that was good. We were not allowed in the restaurant and offered a sofa in the sun room! Where we would have to eat off our knees or off a low coffee table !!! It was way too windy to sit outside despite the offer to put up an umbrella and it was quite chilly so not an option. We found a table in a corner that we could use. And then after we ordered they decided that as someone else wanted to eat in the restaurant maybe they could let us in - too late! We were done! We asked for grilled whole trout (silly thinking that as the hotel is on a trout lake and there is a hatchery and fish pond there it would be fresh!) and grilled trout fillet. We got fried trout that was beyond dead and edible - chips were freezer burnt and tough and horrible and the token "salad" was old and recycled. Even the swirl garnish of something red on the plate was congealed and been on there for hours at least as it had a thick skin on it. After 4 weeks of travelling Zimbabwe this has to be the worst food experience and connot recommend it at all. The hotel itself still has the old Troutbeck charm and a walk around the lake, although a mess in some places, is still lovely. Golf course seems to be in good condition.

- SteveHarris59 (10/5): A very pleasant long weekend - We stayed here for the RuNyanga trail running festival. previous years we had stayed in local lodges and cottages, but this year, managed to get into the hotel. We've stayed here many times in the last 30 odd years, but it feels like the whole team has lifted their game. From check-in to check-out we had good food, great service, smiles and friendliness. WiFi was fantastic, especially considering the hundreds of people at the event, rooms were spotless and comfortable, abundant hot water, and lovely beds. The only gripe is the lack of good coffee (hopefully this will be addressed), and the unavailability of alcohol free beer. Not that the beer is that important, but the coffee certainly is in a hotel of this calibre.

The reception staff went out of their way to shuffle things around to ensure that we were happy, comfortable and fully catered for. We salute their service and would recommend this place anytime.

- emadzi893427 (10/5): Anniversary vacation - All staff showed respect to my aunt and uncle and made an extra effort to decorate the room to the theme of the visit which made it a humbling enjoyable and memorable experience for them. A big well done and thank you!!! Also paying for the booking, it required me to be physically present but l was unable to however, l promptly received alternative payment options at associated hotels in Harare which l found very accommodative to my circumstances. Whilst at the Holiday Inn Harare to make the payment, the staff provided good customer service that placed the guest at the center of their care even though l was there for a short time to just make my payment. It goes to show uniformity and careful considerations in ensuring exceptional customer care standards across the Troutbeck Hotels and associate Hotels they are affiliated with.

- NCee25 (8/5): TroutBeck Resort Easter 2025 - We visited the Resort during the Easter period for a relaxing and refreshing 3 day experience.We had a late check in and the staff were not very helpful or friendly.However the interior decor of the place gave a warm welcome(additional easter decorations would have made it warmer).The room was clean and the beds have electric blankets to curb the chilly Nyanga weather. The lake view from the room was very spectacular and rich..We got to experience the mountainous views of Nyanga from the verandah in the morning whilst enjoying some coffee(the room had a coffee station,an added bonus). We enjoyed the wide variety offered at breakfast,a great boast to start the day..The Easter Bunny Mascot was some great fun for those who had visited with children.The dinner menu was not as wide however the mutton stew was exceptional. The resort offers a number of activities which unfortunately we didnt get time to experience as we had different excursions to do around Nyanga.However one can always visit their curio shop to purchase Troutbeck sourvenirs. We had an early check out hence we ordered a take away breakfast,which unfortunately was not prepared and we ended up getting a very badly packed below par breakfast which was rather disappointing. Special mention to Gathel,Leornard,Judah,Lee-Ann and Alec...these individuals were kind and gracious at all times.Most of the staff are quite rude as they do not greet or attend to guests and one has to find their way.This is something that could definately improve and make the plaxce better. I would most likely visit again....

The staff are amazing.We ordered a cake slice and only requested to write happy birthday , but they went an extra mile , came the hotel staff and sang a happy birthday song , which was amazing.
- Alice (10/5): - I used to stay at Troutbeck back in the 60s as a child and this was a nostalgic trip for me. For the most part everything seemed to have been beautifully maintained with the top rooms having had an upgrade - all seemed brand new and the bed was soooo comfortable. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful and even gave us a free upgrade. I love that they honour Major “Mac”, who I remember well, as he developed the dam, pine forests, and the hotel, and gave support and upliftment to the local community. The road to Nyanga from Harare is good, and I encourage anyone thinking of going to do it! They need foreign visitors and it’s such a wonderful experience. The lake and World’s View are magical.

Wouyhave preferred a bigger selector food and drink options but we were staying mid week so maybe it would be better at the weekend. Shout-out also to Froggy Farm in Juliasdale which makes an excellent place to stop on the journey to the resort.

- Jules-Matopos (4/5): 'REFURBISHED' ACCOMMODATION AT A PREMIUM PRICE - We stayed two nights in one of the Troutbeck resort lodges and paid a premium to secure what we were told would be "refurbished" accommodation. On arrival we found: [1] multiple cigarette and ember burns in the dirty lounge carpet; [2] very old, uncomfortable lounge chairs/sofas with dirty covers and even dirtier cushion covers; [3]several kitchen cabinets/doors that could not close properly with faulty hinges, etc.; [4] ancient scuff marks along the skirting; [5] walls that were dirty and evidently unpainted for many years/decades; and [6] a loose toilet seat that could not be centred and stabilised above the bowl. Following our arrival a local 'manager' attended to collect the balance of our substantial accommodation fee (USD). We complained about the above and said it was obvious that the accommodation had not been refurbished, and that we had paid a premium for nothing. His response was that it had been refurbished 30 years ago! We won't be returning!

Driving around the mountains was great and would recommend doing this during day time to enjoy the scenary . We will be visiting again soon!!!!

- graeme615 (8/5): Troutbeck winter visit - Troutbeck Inn was a nice surprise, given how many properties in Zimbabwe have gone into decay since I was last here in 1988. The hotel has been well maintained and the facilities were in very good condition. The only unfortunate (out of the hotels control) was that there had been a lot of fires in the Nyanga area. This created a lot of smoke and haze which affected the otherwise spectacular views and scenery. I would recommend checking on this before heading to Nyanga if you want to see it at it's best. The fire in the bar was disappointing because they were using wet wood which created a lot of smoke and very little heat. If the hotel used dry wood the bar would be significantly better. The hotel room was very comfortable and the shower was amazing.
- RayBrie (10/5): A Place To Unwind - Following a visit to the facility last year, my son (13 years) insisted that we should go back over the August holidays. The Hotel and staff did not disappoint. We enjoyed the fishing with my son pulling off a significant catch one of the afternoons. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The Chef was at his best. Great value for money. We are looking forward to visiting next year.

This time around, our online booking was smooth and we really enjoyed our stay. The sunset boat cruise was serene. The grounds are well manicured and the staff is well trained.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Relaxing oasis in Nyanga. My room facing the lake was nice, if a bit worn around the edges. I arrived without a reservation and asked about rates. I knew it was a bit less expensive online, so the receptionist assisted me with WiFi so I could book online. All of them were exceptionally helpful. Had a light lunch when I arrived. There was a large group taking part in an outdoor lunch buffet, even though I asked about service when I entered and sat at the tables away, I was pretty much ignored along with others not in the group. After waiting for a long time, I finally went into the pub and ordered. When I returned, my table had been taken by members of the group. Eventually it was sorted. A bit of management which could focus and direct the staff across the entire area would’ve helped. Breakfast was the typical buffet affair as other large restaurants have. It was quite cool when I arrived and continued into the night, great luxury to tuck into a bed warmed by a heat pad/blanket underneath!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs updating - Troutbeck is well located in a scenic area, staff are very friendly, and there is plenty to do. However the hotel has not been updated for decades: the fabric (carpets, chairs) is old and rather worse for wear, the decor remains as it as in the 1970s. It trades too much on its past and offers poorer value for money than others. Unfortunately there is currently scant competition.
