- Lars (10/5): Cozy small hotel in the heart of town - Romantica is a family run hotel that sits in a perfect location in walking distance to everything important in Zermatt. We had a spacious suite with balcony and fantastic views. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic. Romantica is steps from the main street with dozens of shops and restaurants. -

They have made the hotel so cute with tons of thoughtful touches, decorations, giving it a beautiful vibe. Also the breakfast every day was amazing and they even gave us Easter treats. Would highly recommend to stay here in Zermatt and we can’t wait to come back!

- Josip Joca (10/5): - Excellent accommodation in the heart of Zermatt. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel is spotless, very well maintained, and the staff are truly excellent—friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The location is amazing, just about 30 meters from the main street in Zermatt, surrounded by great restaurants and bars. It’s also perfectly positioned between both ski lift stations, making it ideal for skiing and getting around the village.

- Eduardo (8/5): Charming, Spotless Stay in an Excellent Location - A truly beautiful and quaint property, full of character and charm. The location was excellent—perfectly situated to explore the area with everything you need close by. It struck a great balance between peaceful surroundings and easy access to local attractions. Albeit small, the room was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Would happily stay again. Nothing significant to dislike overall. The only point worth mentioning is that the breakfast could better cater to vegetarians. The eggs were placed alongside the bacon and sausages with shared or adjacent serving utensils, which led to some cross-contamination. It would also be helpful to include additional non-meat options such as potatoes, hash browns, or beans to accompany the eggs for those who don’t eat meat.

In a town filled with 5 star stuffy and absurdly expensive options, Hotel Romantica is authentic and provides amazing value. I can see the stairs in the cottage to be a bit tricky to navigate for older guests. My wife mentioned offering better cosmetics.

Ze zijn attent en denken in alles met je mee; niets is teveel gevraagd. De hoofdkussens vonden we niet optimaal, maar ook weer niet zodanig dat we om andere kussens hebben gevraagd, dus was het okay, maar dit is het enige wat ik zo kan bedenken.

Our room was spotless, had a very comfortable bed and a balcony with a view towards Zermatt town and the mountains. The reception, bar and breakfast area are beautifully decorated, adding to the cozy atmosphere. The hosts are wonderful, and are a big reason why the stay at Romantica is so memorable! - JOJO (10/5): Warm welcoming beautiful - Very cosy and beautiful hotel with great facilities. What made it great were the hosts who were warm and welcoming and it felt like staying with family. I wish the directions on how to reach included “ turn up at Lindt” which would have made finding it easier. My network did not work after leaving the train station and that small alley is easily missed

It felt like coming home each day after our adventures. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was such a magical experience. The hotel's location couldn't have been more perfect...right in the middle of Zermatt meaning that everywhere in the village was just a short stroll away. Zermatt quickly became our favorite stop of the trip and it all started with our stay at Hotel Romantica. From delicious breakfast, to friendly staff, to clean and very homey accommodations, to the advice for skiing as beginners, to the walk down the cobble stone path very close to the main road of shopping and restaurants, romantica was the most perfect place we could have stayed. The location was in the middle of everything, but not on the main strip, which made it quiet and convenient. It was my favorite place I stayed while traveling in Switzerland. No complaints!

- Laura (8/5): Beautiful property in the center of Zermatt. - Our small room was quiet and comfortable, and the owners are very helpful and eager to share information about hikes, restaurants, etc. The breakfast buffet was stocked with all the usual fare. The bathroom might benefit from some updating.

- Jorge (10/5): - We selected Hotel Romantica for its convenient location and online reviews. Very pleased with our two night stay. The hotel is comfortable with everything you need and more. Upon checking in Thor greeted us and was most gracious! He shared recommendations and guided our stay. We felt as if we were staying at a bed & breakfast because of the friendly and welcoming service. Thank you Thor and to the entire staff for making our first visit to Zermatt most enjoyable!

The property and gardens lived up to the name Hotel Romantica and was well-loved and maintained. The hosts were very friendly helping us to determine the walls we would do the following day. The room was nicely presented and the breakfast was adequate. It was good having a balcony which we used a lot. There was nothing to dislike.

The grounds are beautiful, extremely clean, and very accessible. The room was also so cute and cozy. If you needed anything at all, Michelle and Thor are more than willing to accommodate and they go above and beyond to make you feel at home. They truly felt like family and I will definitely try to book again when I return to Zermatt. Thor and Michelle also assisted me with so much information and I owe them credit for making my Breithorn summit both possible and safe. I loved everything about this property. There were no issues at all. Michelle and Thor were kind enough to prepare a breakfast early for me, given that I had a trek early in the morning. In one of the pictures (5 Lakes Trail) you can see the lovely meal they packed for me.

The hotel itself is charming, spotless, and perfectly located in the heart of Zermatt, offering both peace and convenience. The rooms were cozy, well-appointed, and had a warm, inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. What truly sets Hotel Romantica apart, however, is the hospitality. Thor, the owner, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He was incredibly helpful with recommendations and local tips, and to top it all off, he personally gave us a ride in his cart with our luggage to the train station when we were leaving – a gesture we’ll never forget. It’s rare to find a place where the service feels so genuinely caring. We left Zermatt with wonderful memories, and Hotel Romantica was a big part of that. Highly recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful town!

- Robert (10/5): Robert Philadelphia - This hotel is in the center of Zermatt and is surrounded by a lovely garden. It is run by a second-generation family member, and she does an outstanding job. The hotel staff knows Zermatt very well and will help direct your stay. The hotel is spotless and has a classic mountain alpine feel and appearance. Would strongly recommend.
- Mark (10/5): - I can’t speak highly enough of Romantica! The walk towards it already made me smile as it looked enchanting (like a Hansel and Gretel house) and then as soon as I got to the desk Thor was immediately radiating warmth and kindness and I ended up chatting to him for about half an hour before I even got checked in! He couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly, full of information and great stories and inspirations for my time in Zermatt, I was just very sad I was only staying for one night! The location is ideal; nice and central, but also quiet enough to sleep with no problems at all. I was a solo traveller and it catered perfectly for my needs, a good sized room with a single bed that felt larger than others I’d slept in in Switzerland - and then there was the breakfast! I filled my face at Breakfast in all of my previous stays in Switzerland to save money during the rest of the day, but I did it here because it was so tasty – I had about four pastries they were so delicious - and having missed “good” sausages for a while, the ones at Romantica hit the spot for sure! I can’t speak highly enough of the place - and the people. My go to when I come back again!
- Daniel (10/5): - I cannot emphasize enough what a gem this place is. The proprietors were friendly and knowledgeable and made our whole trip more worthwhile. From making dinner reservations to helping us plan out our hike and many other services, they were everything we could ask for. The rooms have a very homey atmosphere and the hotel is set back a little from the main road, so it is quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is wonderful and there is even a beautiful flower garden out front. I would stay her again a thousand times. Thank you Michelle and Thor.
