- Leigh (7/5): -
- Helenb (9/5): - The beds were really comfy, the bathrooms were okay, the shower was a little slow but it was okay. Nothing really
- Kirstie (6/5): Served the purpose we needed it for. But could do with a bit of TLC. - Staff were lovely.
Breakfast was good (with the exception of coffee).
Bed was comfy.
Key for late access. Bathroom tired. Wood rotting.
No frosted window in bathroom. Window right at shower and window overlooks the beer garden.
Could have done with bottled water in room.
Room was noisy- room next door slammed door throughout night and floor boards creak through, which was very noisy through the night. I think it was the dog walking back and forth?
- Charles (7/5): Th cost our stay was expensive. - Breakfast ad location were good
- nadmac (5/5): Great location, friendly staff, needs deep clean - Staff really friendly. Location perfect. Lack of cleanliness in room and corridors. Musty smell in corridors, definitely need repainting and a deep clean.
Bathroom could have been cleaner
Area looking out of bedroom 6 window left a lot to be desired, didn't Instill confidence, especially as fresh had been delivered there and left outside .
Dirty condiments holder at breakfast.
Really disappointed

- William (10/5): Excellent short stay with very good food. One of the best evening meals I’ve had throughout Scotland at a very reasonabl - The staff, location, cleanliness and food were excellent. We were staying in a party of 8 across 3 rooms. One of the couples in our party had a very nice double room however through the night they did not sleep very well due to some sort of constant noise from an extractor fan somewhere in an adjacent room.
- Elaine (9/5): - Lovely clean comfortable hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff friendly and helpfull. Nothing
- Diego (8/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Steven (7/5): Enjoyable but only used as a base. - Breakfast Nothing
- Linda (9/5): Friendly pleasant stay - The locations Squeaky floor boards in bedroom
- Sarah (6/5): Nice rooms - Rooms very nicely decorated, breakfast staff very friendly and welcoming, decent breakfast Room looked out over beer garden with kegs everywhere and a real mess below window, would not take a lot to tidy up outside area as very off putting
. Loud hum all night made it difficult to sleep, possibly from boiler or heating - room 6
- chris (9/5): -
- Katherine (6/5): -
- Sheila (9/5): An extremely comfortable stay with excellent staff - Central location for exploring Biggar in a traditional pub.
Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean.
The standout of the stay was undoubtedly the staff who were very welcoming and friendly Would love breakfast to be served at least until 9.30am just felt 7.30-9am was a little early
- Ânia (8/5): - the staff is great. No window could be open
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Maire (8/5): -
- Oconnor (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent location perfect
- Ann-Marie (10/5): My stay - All the staff are friendly and couldn't do enough for you - nothing was too much trouble.
Rooms are very clean, warm and comfortable.
The breakfast was great - choice of cereals, fruit salad, fruit juices and the full English breakfast was amazing - always arrived piping hot 😁
Would definately stay here again. Liked everything!!
- Michael (9/5): - Fantastic service from the friendly staff, and a delicious breakfast & dinner.
- Moira (8/5): We’ll be back! - Great location, fabulous staff!

- glentobay (8/5): Visit to meet up with family. - From the moment we arrived at an on street free parking space at the entrance door we received a friendly welcome before being shown to our room. Well appointed with all the usual facilities - clean & tidy with lovely bedlinen, plenty hanging space, en-suite shower, kettle for tea/coffee making, wall mounted TV viewable from seating or bed and sockets for charging technology.
Excellent lunch & evening menu available beside the log fire in the cosy dining room and lovely breakfast made to order.
Suggest a foldable suitcase stand in the room could be a welcome addition?
- Michael (4/5): - The breakfast was good.
The bar area was nice to sit in.
The shower pressure was excellent. The cleanliness was poor. Dirty runner on bed. Dirty light switches. The ceiling light was hanging off. The shower wasn’t clean. The casing around the shower hose was half off. The toilet wasn’t clean.
The bed was small and the pillows were wafer thin.
- Emma-Louise (8/5): Served a purpose for a one stay during our visit to Biggar, the staff were lovely and nothing too much trouble, the buil - Friendliness of staff, quirky building, excellent food. Only negative would be it could do with a little paint freshen up in the corridors.
- Tankie2 (10/5): Great discovery - Stayed here for one night as I was attending a concert at the Corn Exchange across the road. Booked online and was no problem, received a confirmation email almost immediately.
Check in was easy and Michael could not have been more helpful. Had dinner before the concert and the food and service was excellent. All the staff are welcoming and friendly. Slept well, room was good with all you would expect.
Breakfast was also extremely tasty and once again the service was great.
All in all an extremely enjoyable stay and would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.
- Sally (8/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Friendly hotel - The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable. The food was good
- 587heatherf (10/5): Solo Trip to see family ❤️ - Never done a restaurant hotel before but I’m so glad I did it. They were so kind to me and my dog really chatty. Great breakfast. - Barbara (8/5): -
- Adil (9/5): Good, worth the money. - The hotel was good, friendly and welcoming staff, amazing breakfast I'd expect a bottle of drinking water to be there in our room but there wasn't.
- John (9/5): Warm and welcoming hotel and staff, lovely food, and very very dog friendly - As soon as we arrived, the staff were so helpful, welcoming, and accommodating.
The room was lovely, well presented, and well maintained. The shower was hot, which shouldn’t be exceptional for a hotel but so often is disappointing!
We only stayed one night but the food was great and our two dogs also felt really at home. We have nothing we didn’t like.
- Angela (5/5): Suited our purpose but would have preferred a larger room. - Location was central, staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast and evening meals were great. Nice furnishings but Room was very small with no natural ventilation just a skylight above the bed which made the room very hot when sun was shining. There were two steps to reach bathroom which was hazardous when the skylight blind was closed, unless lights were on. Also needs a handrail. TV mounted on the wall at end of the bed was also a hazard given the limited space to manoeuvre. Room 3 is the smallest of their rooms and is on 1st floor, accessed by two flights stairs. Not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. The room is classed as a double but really more suitable for single occupancy given the size.
- Andy (10/5): -
- Angus (9/5): -
- John (4/5): Our room was very outdated mattresses must have been 10 years old if not more - Not a lot Had to walk through thee dining room to get to our room
- Gerrit (8/5): een echt typisch engels/schots hotel - van te voren een lijst invullen wat je bij ontbijt wilt hebben..koffie wordt bijgevuld
- Ross (10/5): Lovely old hotel, we had a very pleasant stay - Food was excellent, staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. N/a
- Andy (10/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- Mark (7/5): - Room was well appointed and decorated.Staff were welcoming and breakfast was good. Pillows were thin, which was a shame,as bed eas comfotable.
No choice of tea in room and no sweeteners.
- Janie (10/5): Clean, friendly hotel - would definitely recommend. - Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and approachable. Bed was super comfortable and bathroom and facilities were excellent and clean. Breakfast was tasty and in nice surroundings. There wasn't anything which we didn't like.
- Hughes (9/5): - Comfort of room Steps
- Geoff (7/5): Staff are excellent - Great atmosphere
Dinner was excellent and breakfast Freezing cold room at night

- KAHDEN (10/5): The Elphinston Hotel Biggar 😊 - The Elphinston is a family run, don’t know much about the hotel side of things, but the restaurant is amazing, the food is beautiful and the the environment is so friendly, warm and welcoming, the staff are so nice and the always attentive to your needs I was in a group of people on New Year’s Eve, the menu is so good plenty of choice, the whole experience dining in the Elphinston brought the new year in with that something special.
Would highly recommend to anyone if they are travelling through Biggar on the A702. Well worth a visit.
Thank you to all the staff for making our evening special 😊😊💕💕
- Anne (8/5): enjoyable stay - Hi All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Meals were excellent. Rom was very Clean. The room was cold but this was quickly dealt with and a heater put in the room immediately.
- ANDREW (9/5): -
- Guy (9/5): Good choice - A convenient overnight stop on our journey, room upgrade was appreciated and the evening meal was spot on. Lovely breakfast, helpful friendly staff
- Nicole (8/5): -
- Katherine (5/5): Value room - The location is good as in easy to access with parking. The layout of the room was nice and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was really good. Food was lovely. As we had a room at the front of the property there was alot of noise from the street below. As it was directly above the door to the pub we could hear people's conversations word for word. We could also smell the smoke from their cigarettes through the closed window. The stairway upto the rooms from the lounge wasn't the cleanest and smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. The room although decorated nicely wasn't very clean. There was alot of dust. Door wouldnt lock from the inside. We realised in the morning we had slept with the door unlocked all night.
- Ralph (10/5): Excellent from start to finish - All staff were very helpful and food and hotel was excellent I couldn't find any faults
- Leslie (9/5): -
- Michelle (7/5): Happy with the stay apart from no sleep due to the buzzing - Lovely hotel , stayed a few times and very impressed with the upgrade Our room was at the back , and all we could hear all night is the buzzing of the air conditioning units outside
- Helen (8/5): -
- Isabella (9/5): - Warm, comfortable, and well equipped room. The hotel is being updated and doing it well, in my opinion.
Owners and staff friendly and helpful.
- Howatson (5/5): -
- CJ0hnst0n (8/5): Good value for local budget stay - Booked very last minute but got a good deal Inc breakfast.
Was in room 2 above the bar on a Saturday night, so some noise later on but nothing unexpected.
I’ve seen reviews about new decor but I think room 2 is an older one. It felt abit dated and was very simple.
Has everything you need though although the mattress was very hard.
Room was clean and warm. Bathroom was small but had all the essentials. Great shower, really hot. Unfortunately the shower head needs a good clean.
Breakfast was hot and fresh. Really good value.
Overall I would use again if in biggar just a small cleanliness issue in bathroom, staff were polite though, no complaints.
- Campbell (10/5): -
- Janis (8/5): -
- paulj (10/5): Ery good value for the money and a lovely breakfast - Very central N/a
- John (10/5): - Could not have breakfast although I had paid for it so they left me a packed lunch in the fridge with crisps and a can of pop. Other hotels should do the same. Excellent will stay again.

- Coghlan (9/5): Really welcoming and good, I would go again. - Breakfast was great as was the evening meal. Location was perfect as we went to a concert at the Corn exchange right opposite. Nothing at all.
