• JUBRISA (8/5): Céntrico - Hotel céntrico y reformado, tienes todo cerca (bares, restaurantes, bancos, tiendas,etc). Por la noche hay ambiente en la calle y musica. Buenas vistas. Habitacion amplia con terraza, nevera con agua fresca y aire acondicionado. Camas cómodas, baño con jabon y secador. Desayuno buffet completo., dulce, salado, fruta fresca... Personal muy servicial. El precio podriia mejorar, pero lo recomiendo. Ruido nocturno, aunque no es cosa del hotel, suele haber música de la calle y los perros callejeros si hacen jaleo. Un poquito mas de presión de agua le vendria bien.

• Nadine (10/5): Tranquilo, no centro da cidade, perto de vários serviços. - Pequeno almoço bom, só que não é incluído. O almoço também é bom, servem muito bem, o serviço de quarto também rápido, muito bom, profissionais simpáticos. O barulho da música é a única parte negativa, para quem estava de férias, ao voltar para dormir já não tinha música, mas se quiser descansar á noite um pouco mais, a música ao vivo, ao lado, incomoda e muito.

Abbiamo deciso di fare la.cena di capodanno in hotel e al netto che fosse a buffet il giudizio è stato molto positivo. Hotel su un bel parco ma purtroppo molto rumoroso, non c'è grande insonorizzazione dai rumori esterni.

• Gilles Hosch (7/5): safe bet for business stays - i had a big room, recently redone a bit, very clean, good desk. mini bar (silent!). internet very reliable. good bed. air con tiptop. bathroom all good. i was on the 2nd floor, so noise from street bars below can be onerous. i also think the elevator could be tweaked to operate more efficiently - long waits... and the price this time around, at over 100€ a night, was definitely too expensive.

• Samantha (9/5): Very comfortable & spacious, within minutes walk of city centre attractions. - Great hotel only 5mins walk from the ferry port. The deluxe rooms with sea view are lovely & spacious. Breakfast buffet is fantastic. The only grumble is that the location is very noisy at night & there's no soundproofing, infact one of the windows didn't close. The hotel is beside some cafes, one of which has live music that usual finishes by midnight but much later on Saturdays, so bring your earplugs!

I stayed there for three nights. the staff was friendly and responded quickly to every request and successfully completed them

Conveniently located by marginal. Staff at breakfast not pleasant, doesn’t great guests, crosses in front of you without saying “com licença”. Staff in general could great guests without being prompted. Live loud music outside the hotel every night, but over around midnight so not too bad. Many pesky beggars in the area.

• 291genej (8/5): Classic downtown hotel across the Port Promenade. - My wife and I stayed 3 nights, arriving at 8 PM by taxi(1200 escudos) from the VXE Airport. Reception was on the “0” floor, up 2 floors from ground level by a slow elevator, or in our case, tired of waiting, we climbed the stairs with our bags. A smiling multilingual receptionist copied our passports, gave the wifi info and breakfast hours, and our key card. We took the lone elevator up three floors to room #304, spacious, clean and tiled, with firm twins, nice closet, bathroom with tiled shower, good AC and an opening window with a side view of the port. Nice TV but no English, good open unsecured wifi and a wonderful 7AM breakfast with all food groups including fresh fruit, many varieties of eggs/omelets and some fresh cakes. The location is excellent with an Italian restaurant, ice cream shop, Fragata Central grocery and the 1.6km port promenade (extends from the Belem Tower Replica to the beautiful Laginha Beach) is all within a block.
• johndD2897VC (2/5): Avoid this hotel at all cost unless you like bugs!! - Came to this hotel for Sunday brunch and had to fight off hundreds of flies that were on the tables, glasses, plates, on us, and the cafeteria quality food. Complained to the waitress who was well aware of the fly problem but said management didn’t care. We suggested closing the windows and use their 4 air conditioners. Or install a few $7 screens in the windows. Again we were told management didn’t care. Never made it to the hotel rooms. If management didn’t care about bugs who would want a room??? We will NEVER come back unless there is a change in management that actually cares about its customers.
• rkins33rd (8/5): Just Fine - Stayed overnight after a fishing charter. Accommodating staff, clean rooms, good location. WiFi wasn’t working half the time there however. Didn’t have the breakfast, but it looked pretty good. Coffee was good.
• 67cherryt (8/5): Ideal for short stopovers - Central to the Harbour area. Comfortable clean and quiet.Staff unobstrusive ,cafes and restaurants on your doorstep.The ferry to the other islands leaves from the port 5 mins walk away.Breakfast served between 7and 10 am covers all tastes.

• Yann (8/5): Principalement bien situé... - Hôtel plutôt récent qui donne l’impression d’avoir très vite et pas très bien vieilli... très bien situé à deux pas du centre ville de la très jolie Mindelo, de ses animations et de son terminal maritime pour prendre le ferry pour San Antão. La plage est juste un peu plus loin. C’est son principal atout. Les chambres sont grandes mais au confort moyen. La partie restaurant est la plus accueillante visuellement parlant. L’hôtel reste un bon point de chute, on n’y séjourne pas et on y laisses ses affaires et on part en vadrouille !

Can't say much about the breakfast buffet because the promised early breakfast was slow in arriving. Access by lift from the street, then by lift or stairs to the rooms.

• Perry (8/5): Don Paco - Review - The Don Paco is a ideally placed for access to the Port and to the center of Mindelo. While the hotel is no frills, the staff are very friendly and efficient and the food was consistently very good. Also the Owner is on site most evenings and is accessible. The only down side was the late evening noise from outside the hotel

The rooms were ok, the bathroom really small but clean and modern. The shower did not drain the water very well, the showed us another room but it had the same problem.. The internet was free but not working properly, it seems it's not configured correctly. Breakfast was nice and staff friendly.

Material condition is okay, extremely firm bed (too firm for me...typical for Africa and most of Europe). Excellent location in walking distance to ferry landing and marina. Safe and secure with a guard at the door (Mindelo seems much safer than Praia). Easy check-in. English-speaking staff. Good breakfast in a very nice bright and cheery dining room. Breakfast Buffett with Egg soufflé, local chorizo sausage, meats and cheese, numerous fresh pastries, and basic coffee, tea, juice, etc. Weak wi-Fi/internet, but that is probably due to the national network limitations and not the hotel because the signal was strong, but poor and very slow connections.
• Somesunplease78 (8/5): No stress! - After enjoying a 2-week vacation at Don Paco and now back in cold Europe, we are longing to return to Mindelo and this hotel! The beds are very comfortable, rooms are clean and have all necessary. The breakfast buffet offers along the standard items also daily 'specials' (we especially enjoyed the baked breakfast goodies- tuna rolls, ham/cheese 'quiche' and cachupa). Lovely lady breakfast chef with always a big smile! The reception ladies were very helpful and friendly- as were all the staff members we encountered. Housekeeping service was immaculate and professional. We had a happy blue room (#302) on the back side of the hotel with beautiful views over the hills and Mindelo harbour. During busy nights the corridor can be a bit noisy but that was not too much of a nuisance. As everywhere in Cape Verde we encountered, all staff at Don Paco radiated friendliness and helpfulness that made us feel immediately at home and safe. Thank you for the whole team!
• Scenic651809 (8/5): Good adress - If you need a modern and clean room in the center of Mindelo, with good services, enormous beds and good breakfast, this is the place to go. Nice and helpful staff. Close to the harbour and the beach.

• Hikkihils (8/5): Spacious, central hotel - Enormous beds in very clean rooms. Very close to harbour - ferry to Santo Antau and San Nicolau islands. A little park is right opposite the hotel entrance which is very popular with small children and there is a small tourist office in the middle of the park. It is also only a short walk to the beautiful beach at Laginha. There is a bank just across the road (does not change sterling) and a supermarket a couple of minutes walk away. Breakfast was very good with a lovely fresh-fruit salad available every day, as well as a hot and a cold buffet and some lovely cakes, (for breakfast - go for it, you're on holiday!) They even provided champagne for breakfast on Christmas Day. We had some problems with communication - the staff missed our early wake-up call; they also failed to pass on messages from our tour guide. We had booked for the special Christmas Day meal with live music, but it just didn't happen, with no explanation. That apart, we did have a nice stay there.
• 651thomass (10/5): Great new hotel at center of Mindelo - Don Paco is a new Hotel at the Center of Mindelo, in easy Walking distance to all places of interest, including the Harbor. Very comfortable rooms. Nice and helpful staff. There was a mess-up by the booking agency and I had no room upon arrival. Hotel went out of the way to accommodate me and did not charge for second night, which I then spent at the Hotel, being upgraded to a Suite. Definitely the place to return.
• O2897UHmichaelg (10/5): Fantastisches Hotel - This Hotel is clearly above a 3 Star Quality. A very professional team and excellent management. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The best Breakfast in Mindelo and an excellent service and quality of the Restaurant and bar. The Hotel is in the Center of Mindelo, but no noise disturbes due to very good building construction.

• Girts_Kalnins (6/5): Otherwise, how else - We had big and beautiful room, it was family room. Everything works and everything was clean. Tricks regularly was with breakfast, then cook overslept, then food ends. The hotel has a good location and we had a good view from the window. But that is only in big rooms. Catering limping on the entire island. Often there is something ended. 10 minutes walk from the hotel is a beautiful town beach, and she's not too crowded. Beach called Praia da Laginha. There, at one corner was beach restaurant, where always could good eat and get some cold drink or ice cream.
• TheDotdog (2/5): HORRIBLE! - Was there three nights Marlin fishing during days. No AC, no hot water, rock hard beds, no fans, drain in shower backed up, orange water, staff was totally not helpful and wifi never worked. Moved out into other hotel. I would not kennel my dog at the Don Paco.
• gpr (6/5): Disappointed with our second stay. - Two years after our first experience of the Don Paco, which was fantastic, we returned to find that standards are slipping. Yes the hotel is very good by African standards but as part of a European chain it should be judged on European standards and it fails on several points. The hot breakfast items were cold on most days. Out of the three weeks we were there I remember the hot items being warm only three times. Maybe if we were early risers we would have found them hot? Cleanliness was, and still is, the hotels strong point. The place is cleaned perfectly but there were days that our suite was not done until late afternoon. While this might be fine for a business person out all day, it was not suited to a couple with a three year old child. The biggest and in my opinion the worst problem was the lack of English speaking staff on the reception desk. While they had a few words in English and pretended to understand, they did not. However helpful staff tried to be, the lack of language skills was a problem. WiFi is now available throughout the hotel, however it is not reliable but does work well when working. The TV went down and took a whole week to be reinstated. The lack of language meant that staff could not explain the problem and blamed the internet for the lack of TV...... the internet and satellite TV are not connected! The Don Pacos location is perfect and the view of the Carnival, our purpose for visiting Mindelo, is superb. However for next years trip we shall be staying somewhere different.

• BCordray (4/5): You Can Do Much Better - My colleagues and I spent several days at this hotel and were disappointed by the experience. The rooms were not kept tidy, the staff at the hotel restaurant was unable to serve us under our food under 45 minutes to an hour, and the WiFi was hit or miss. The worst thing however was that the hotel personnel themselves were so loud both in the early morning hours or late at night that they actually awoke or disturbed the sleeping guests. As a team, we decided not to return to this particular establishment.
• kathysQ6943OQ (8/5): Wonderful hotel - I previously wrote a review about the hotel when I first stayed here in August. I was compelled to write another one after reading some reviews. I read some complaints that have nothing to do with the hotel. My stay with my family was wonderful from the cleanliness of the room, to the staff, location and food. Being of Cape Verdean descent, I believe people writing these reviews come from not understanding about our culture. I visited Cape Verde so I could be able to see where my parents were born and raised. I never met so many kind and gracious people. They are so proud and take nothing for granted. I plan on visiting again and when I do, I would definitely book with the Don Paco again. This hotel is the best in Sao Vicente.
