Guest Reviews
- Joanne (8/5): Very enjoyable stay in pretty Burford - Very clean, great location for High Street. Accommodating and friendly staff Slightly inconvenient as there is only street parking and public car park that is max 4 hour stay.
- Laurie (9/5): Charming stay, delightful service and the perfect home base for our time in the Cotswolds!! - We loved our stay at the Angel. All the food was excellent and the staff was so friendly. We would highly recommend it for your Cotswold stay!
- Jagang (9/5): Fijne plek - Lokatie, midden in het stadje.
Vriendelijk personeel!!
Mooie kamer, prima badkamer
Heerlijk sfeervolle pub, met goed eten Geluid van de straat, maar dat komt ook omdat we graag het raam open hebben.
- Marnie (9/5): Loved our stay. Friendly staff. - Beautiful spot to stay Difficult parking nearby
- Philip (10/5): FABULOUS! - lovely place to stay - friendly/helpful staff and great location!
will definitely return......
thank you
- Marion (9/5): - The staff were amazing.the food was great fresh and had plenty of flavour. Room was very comfortable

- Rachel (6/5): Nice room & continental breakfast - Bed Rooms were lovely nice country cotswolds fitted decor As above the pub and old building you could hear the music from pub and in the pub itself it wasn't very comfy/cosy hard wooden chairs and staff were nice but we stopped on a sunday and they shut up early i think they had a bad day /awkward customer in and they definitely wanted to go home by 8:30 pm not sure what time pubs shut on sundays these days it used to be 10 pm
- fiona (8/5): -
- Martin (10/5): A thoroughly enjoyable experience in every respect -
- Sara (10/5): - Very friendly staff, great food, lovely comfortable accommodation.
- Timson (9/5): A good find - A hotel just off the main road. Really friendly staff. The room was large and comfortable. Sunday roast was really good. We would definately stay again. Nothing springs to mind9
- Mark (9/5): - Friendly staff, great food and ideal location.
- Claire (9/5): -
- Ann (10/5): Lovely little inn, spotlessly clean, conveniently situated , good food and memorably friendly taff - Dinner was excellent. Very limited continental breakfast included in B&B rate but good additional options available. Staff exceptionally pleasant No one’s fault that property does not have parking & parking is an issue in Burford. Again staff are very helpful and advise. We were lucky to find a space & weather was ok but inconvenient if you have luggage
- Steve (10/5): Stay here if you want a lovely old pub in a great location with excellent food and lovely staff. - All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was large, very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the food was excellent, and the pub itself couldn’t be a better example of what you expect an old English pub to be. Absolutely nothing to dislike
- Andrew (10/5): - Great character - great location - friendly staff and great food
- Philip (8/5): Very accommodating staff who were very helpful. - Although no onsite parking, we were fortunate enough to get a space just outside the pub.
There is a free car park within a 2-3 minute walk.
The property is traditional & pleasant. It’s a little quirky & quite unique.
- Cheryl (8/5): - Great location in center of town!! Noisy as the pub was below. Quieted by 10pm
- Peter (10/5): Fantastic experience, will become a regular - Everything Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Great little get away - Clean, great food very friendly staff
- Wendy (10/5): Loved our stay at the Angel in Burford. - The location was great, Molly was so helpful, welcoming & kind. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant. They weren’t able to make cocktails, beer & wine only, but we went for an excellent old fashioned at the Bull just around the corner.
- Paul (10/5): -
- NOREEN (8/5): Pleasant - Food in restaurant was really good and a beautiful small town A bit pricey considering Room facilities are basic but given the age of the building probably to be expected. Shower is just an attachment to bath taps, beds are not really comfy, drafty windows very poor lighting. Guests felt a little in the way when restaurant was busy , felt couldn’t really just sit and have drink
- Daniel (10/5): Great service and location. - Charming and great location. Nothing
- Mitchell (9/5): -
- Connolly (5/5): No enjoyable ! - Location was good ! So over priced £145 no breakfast /parking included. Booked a deluxe room ! No kettle just coffee machine ! No wardrobe ! No dressing table! Sockets no where near the mirror had to keep unplugging lamps to charge phones ! Would have liked a deluxe room that’s on the web site!
- Harriet (10/5): Highly recommend- lovely spot! - Great food, lovely staff, comfortable and spacious room for being a quaint pub Absolutely nothing, it was brilliant
- Adam (8/5): -
- Susanna (9/5): Very comfortable and will definitely return -
- Nathan (10/5): -
- Liz (5/5): Disappointing. - The Angel is a lovely building and well located in the village of Burford. As it’s down a side street, there was plenty of parking outside. We had a 2-night stay and we were disappointed that our room wasn’t cleaned after the first night, and the bed hadn’t even been made! My husband always leaves a tip for the housekeeper which just added insult to injury! There was also no heating on our second night so our room got very cold although there was a small fan heater in the room which helped. The continental breakfast that was included in the price was quite sparse, my husband ordered the omelette but it was overcooked. We had dinner in the pub on the second night and it was disappointing; I think there was an issue with every course, even the cafetière leaked. There really isn’t anywhere to sit after dinner, we felt we had to move so they can could clear up. We were referred to the landing outside the bedrooms but it’s dark and dingy so we just went back to our room. The staff are very friendly but there were too many issues for us to consider staying again.
- Ronnie (4/5): - There was no heating although staff did when queried provide an electric heater which was good. There was no hot water for a wash in morning . Also waiting til 8.20 to pay as no one was in . Didn't stay for breakfast 17 pound something for breakfast plus 12% service charge seemed ridiculous. Staff were lovely and great location .Everything was clean.
- Guillaume (10/5): Ideal location and atmosphere - Great location. Amazing food and lovely staff. All perfect.
- Debbie (10/5): Perfect place for an overnight stay - Close to main high street - staff were friendly and very helpful Nothing it was just perfect

- Gemma (10/5): -
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Michele (10/5): Thank you to the staff at The Angel. So helpful accommodating and friendly. - The location, such a quaint pub. Nothing
- Jo (9/5): -
- Donna (8/5): -
- Joanne (10/5): Really nice and comfortable - Really comfortable The cooked breakfast was extra on top of the B&B price which seemed expensive
- Karen (9/5): -
- Andrea (8/5): We stayed here the weekend before Christmas so everything looked beautiful and festive. - Perfect location for the High Street in Burford. Quaint little pub with cosy rooms. Nothing
- Sally (8/5): -
- Ann (10/5): - Cosy and clean N/A
- Fiona (6/5): There was a warm welcome from the staff, the food was good but accommodation quite basic. - A traditional pub with a welcoming atmosphere. The room was quite basic and tired. The bed mattress felt poor quality as were the pillows. Noise from the bar below due to the age of the property.
- Robert (10/5): Hidden Gem - Comfortable, spotlessly clean and welcoming pub with rooms. Breakfast served in the pub by the beautiful log fire was excellent. The manager and staff made us feel very welcome and had time to chat with us!
We will definitely be back. No on site parking but this was not really an issue..
- Shelley (9/5): Had a lovely stay, very relaxing - Location is perfect, right in the centre of Burford, down a side street. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Had evening meal there and it was very nice Breakfast included is now continental and you have to pay for anything else, which has changed from last year, that’s disappointing.
- Lesley (9/5): - Small, friendly hotel
- Steve (8/5): Friends catch up - Lovely atmosphere staff attentive and friendly Sunday lunch was good The noise at 06:45 of barrels being delivered, bottles being emptied and paying extra for breakfast menu. Breakfast included is basically cereal with not much choice juice, toast
- Alexander (10/5): Molly the member of staff was exceptional, friendly warm fantastic front of house member of staff. - Very cosy and homely, would definitely go back .
- Michael (10/5): -
- Stewart (10/5): -
- Jo (9/5): Would come back - Food or breakfast was really good, location was great staff were very friendly and helpful No parking
- Aimi (9/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): Lovely room and restaurant. Was perfect for a one night stay and dinner on a rainy day, after a visit to The Farmers Do - Lovely room and bathroom facilities in beautiful cosy pub The room becomes very warm if the fire is operating in the restaurant below
- Rosina (5/5): Clean room. Bathroom good. Room noisy as above bar and traffic at front of building!! - Breakfast was only a croissant. Cereal and toast. To be honest we were expecting a cooked breakfast but a menu given to us showed a price of £17.95 pp No kettle in the room. We enjoy tea but only a coffee machine in room. The room was noisy as above the bar area and noise was bad. Also there was a lot of noise from bins etc outside.
- Joanne (10/5): Beautiful location, gorgeous room. Plenty comfortable. Very clean - Friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Needs caution very hot water around bathroom taps - never felt water so hot come out of a tap. Not a massive fan of the see through glass on bathroom door.
- DEREK (7/5): Comfortable accommodation with an excellent location in Burford - The location near Burford high street was excellent. Friendly staff and the room was clean. The coffee machine & bottled water was very welcome. The room was a little tired, albeit it is an older period property. It was not made clear at booking that the breakfast included was continental (cereal / pastries , fruit juice /tea ,coffee & toast). Eggs and the full English breakfast are provided at an extra cost.
- Janice (9/5): We arrived late in Storm Claudia, tired and soaked, to be welcomed by kind and friendly staff - a port in a storm. - Beautiful property, very clean, warm and well maintained. Nothing.
- Sharon (10/5): Cosy couple of days at the Angel recharging our batteries. - Lovely clean room, lots of space.
Coffee machine was a great extra.
Delicious food and lovely friendly staff. Nothing
- Mark (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - Great location, lovely room ,great staff and great food .
- Colin (9/5): Excellent location and overall a lovely stay. - Location, clean and tidy, Road Noise, old Bluiding so old style windows
- Claudia (10/5): -
- Nicki (9/5): Excellent stay at The Angel, would definitely recommend! - Lovely cozy pub, staff were excellent throughout our stay. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was perfect The mattress was very soft, it was too soft for me
- clare (10/5): - Superb food, beautiful bedroom and lovely staff
- Jo (9/5): Wonderfully hospitable, great location and great rooms - Great location and a beautiful mediaeval. Nothing
- Jo (10/5): A real treat to be here! - Brilliant shower 🚿 No kettle in room
- Garry (9/5): -
- Samantha (7/5): Very enjoyable night away. - Great location friendly staff Room a bit tired. Toilet seat broken and flush sticking. Quite noisy early morning.
- Nigel (9/5): Stay here if you want a traditional English pub within a beautiful Cotswald village. - Traditional historic English pub with excellent and roomy accommodation.
Very good food, not just standard pub fare, but a varied and tasty range of daily specials.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nothing
- Claire (9/5): Gorgeous pub, amazing food, lovely staff. - Gorgeous pub, exceeded our expectations, we booked the deluxe double which was a lovely large room, the complimentary continental breakfast was delicious and we chose to eat in the pub in the evening too and that was superb! All the staff were lovely, friendly, chatty! What’s not to like ❤️ Our room was over the bar with the wood burner and even though we had no heating on (in October) it was rather too warm, but that’s a very small issue! There was a fan and we opened both windows wide!
- Daniel (10/5): Perfect stay for a quintessential Cotswold experience. - Cosy, traditional Inn perfectly positioned just off High street. Staff super friendly, food delicious and rooms spacious and spotless. Offsite parking close by. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - perfect location to explore the Cotswolds. Nothing.
- shannon (8/5): Great - Everything esp dinner Nothing
- Päivi (9/5): Cozy stay - Good location, excellent service. The breakfast was limited, though extra options were available for an additional charge. There were hardly any parking spaces nearby, but luckily a large parking area was found a short walk away.
- Lois (10/5): Fabulous - Great location, lovely staff and very clean.
- Alison (10/5): Good value - Cosy & traditional inn, just off the historic high street. The food was fabulous and the rooms were spotless. Staff are super friendly. A little noisy as bedrooms above the bar. Bed too soft for me but that’s personal preference & room a tad hot. Breakfast was limited unless willing to pay for alternative options.
- Nuria (8/5): -
- Jeanette (10/5): Great stay for my husbands birthday with a lovely meal to end the day. - Great location just off the high street. The accommodation was really comfortable and welcoming. Nothing.
- kerry (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Great location - Staff and the breakfast Not much
- Paul (10/5): -
- MrkWrdn (8/5): Lovely Old Oub in Great Location. - Lovely old pub with 3 guest rooms with lots of character. Also, the location was no more than 100 metres from the centre of the main street. Great location for visiting The Farmers Dog, although still £20 in a taxi. There is a green light that shines all night on the ceiling, which prevents the room from being dark during the night.
If anyone is hoping to sleep after 6.00 am, forget it. The bin lorries arrived shortly after 6.00 and started collecting empty bottles. They paid 2 more visits before 7.00, emptying more bins, and what sounded like a builders truck also arrived before 7.00. This may not be the case every morning, but for us, the noise was unbelievable. By 8.00, the street was perfectly quiet again.
One more dislike was the fact that I couldn't get hot water from the tap after running it for several minutes.
The final criticism is that the 'included' breakfast was only cereal, pastries, and tea/coffee. If you wanted anything cooked, it cost extra, e.g. full English breakfast was £17.50 each, plus 12.5% service charge.
