• Michaela (10/5): What to expect from Room 8 and The Briarfields in general. - The Briarfields is ideally situated between the two Torquay train stations, it's a level mile walk from town, and half a mile to the sea front, making it ideally situated if you're not coming by car, or the perfect place to be able to park up and walk into town. The hosts, Julie-Anne & Charlie, are very friendly and welcoming and happy to give you ideas on what to do in the area. Charlie, who used to be a chef before running The Briarfields, makes the most amazing breakfasts, the menu for which was one of the main reasons we chose to stay there, and they didn't disappoint (the Stornaway Black Pudding is amazing!!). It's also the little things that make a difference, like fresh biscuits in the room, a fridge with bottled water, noticing hubby had brought a bottle of wine, so wine glasses and a corkscrew appeared, unasked for, and a bowl of sweets in reception. Room 8 is on the second floor, with the last staircase being a little narrow, so if you're trying to manoeuvre large luggage it can be a bit awkward. The room faces away from the road and is West facing, so gets the afternoon/evening sun, which means it can get very hot. However there is air conditioning and blackout curtains that will help keep the room cooler if left closed. The railway line runs behind the house and there are frequent trains, something to consider if you are a light sleeper and/or like sleeping with the windows open, although it's easy to tune out and didn't disrupt our stay at all. The room and bathroom are clean, spacious, well appointed, and the provided toiletries are a great quality. Overall The Briarfields is clean, tidy, beautifully appointed and deserves its 5-Star rating. We will definitely be visiting again.
• Peter (10/5): - Excellent service, room and it's facilities are first class, and hey the food was to die for, Charlie is clearly a classically trained and a master. Be adventurous and try the unusual you will not be disappointed. Torquay 's amenities are just a short walk away. Nothing really, if full then the parking and getting cars out will be a fifth but they will take care of it for you.

• Hannah (10/5): It was the first B&B we have ever been to and it was overall amazing as we felt so welcomed and looked after. - It was homely and well decorated. It had a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast was incredible and kept us full up until dinner with the exception of snacks while we explored the area. The shower was unbelievably powerful and was just divine! The room was spacious and easy to locate. We loved having the freedom to stay out late and not worry about having to ask for someone to open the door as we were provided a key. We have to praise the hosts again as their hospitality was impeccable. Despite us being 18, we were treated so well and weren’t looked down on. We are definitely coming again! No fridge in the room but it wasn’t necessary anyway as the hosts were exceptional with providing milk whenever needed. I wouldn’t say that it was something we didn’t like it was just something that the hosts possibly could consider to make it easier than having to continuously provide milk. We were also given one tick list for our breakfast and as someone who doesn’t like some parts of a full breakfast and different eggs to my boyfriend it was quite tricky to let the hosts know that we wanted 2 full breakfasts with different things. Perhaps giving 2 tick lists to accommodate for 2 people would solve this confusion for us but it worked out as we were also asked when we got down to the breakfast room.

• William (10/5): Cossetted, spoiled and well fed. - Breakfast was really brilliant. The hosts very graciously cooked our food early on the Sunday morning. This was after we had hammered on the door, demanding to be fed. After it was explained that the clocks had gone back, and we had stopped laughing, we ate everything put in front of us. We also left the wedding present on the pavement, they saved it and took it to our venue. When we booked early, we had a choice of rooms. I was disappointed that we had unwittingly chosen a top floor one. If we had known this, it could have been changed.

• Stephanie (10/5): Great place to stay - Spacious bedroom with separate seating area and excellent breakfast options. Nothing to dislike although elderly or infirm would struggle with rooms on top floor as stairs quite steep. It was not a problem for us.

• Julie (10/5): Brilliant - Breakfast was delicious. They offered a great range of breakfast items as well as off menu things. Set us up for a good day out. The owners were so pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us. Fantastic people. Only thing missing was somewhere to sit outside and relax after a long day exploring. Apart from that, we couldn’t fault the place. Excellent hosts.
• Ben (9/5): Lovely accommodation, great food and friendly hosts. - Good choice of breakfast options. Great English and Scottish breakfasts. Hosts Charlie and Julie-Ann very friendly and welcoming. Very clean and comfortable room. Location was a fair distance from the town so a lot of walking. Other than that no other concerns.

We will definitely be staying here again if we visit Torquay another time. - The breakfast each morning was amazing —delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. They take food allergies very seriously and accommodated us on this. It was the perfect start to our days exploring the area. I can't say enough about how attentive and welcoming Charlie and Julie were throughout our visit. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort with high standard service, The Briarfields is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Fabulous design.great breakfast, what a variety of, which we recommend, try something different, and you will be pleasantly surprised to start your day on. In a great location with easy access to the front , town, and all other attractions. We will be back .. Parking onsite can be tight. However, parking is included, and we parked every day. A bonus in Torquay.

Shortbread on arrival in room . Nespresso . Breakfast was very well cooked with quality ingredients Only thing was distance from town but the hotel itself made up for that.

It helps to close the windows and turn on the aircon.

• Jon (10/5): - A wonderful place to stay with off road parking. Upgraded to a suite on the top floor which was a beautiful room. Plenty of space, a very roomy bathroom, air conditioning and a king sized bed. The whole place is immaculate and very tastefully decorated. Complimentary milk and water in the fridge and lovely homemade biscuits in the room with plenty of tea and coffee and a small coffee machine. Breakfast was preordered the night before with a wide variety of choice and was delicious and very hot. Nothing was to much trouble and Charlie would bring out a homemade cake for us to try. A nice touch of the beach huts for table numbers and a treasure chest with the condiments in. We really cannot praise this place enough and will definitely return

• Gabrielle (10/5): We really did enjoy our stay! Will definitely be back ☺️ - Location was perfect! Literally a 15/20 minute walk down to the beach and pier. The breakfast was amazing with plenty of options and the hosts checking to see if you needed a top up of anything. The room was lovely with all the added extras! A jar of biscuits, fresh milk provided and mini toiletries included in the en-suite. Loved this personal touch ☺️ The smart tv was an added bonus so we were able to log in to our own Netflix. Charlie and Julie-Anne were super helpful when we asked about places to go for a Sunday Dinner and gave us plenty of options. Nothing! Loved everything
