- Patricia (2/5): - It was the worst experience I had in my trip to Italy. Property condition unacceptable and people working there which I want to remark Leticia and Martina , very unprofessional. Martina doesn’t have manners and she was very disrespectful she doesn’t have skill to work with customer service. She should be fired. Only one thing I need to remark it is the beautiful view to the sea from the hotel . Also Expedia needs to be sure about Hotels condition before to publish those on the website this way would avoid uncomfortable situation from travelers.

- Jonathan (6/5): - Solid 3.5/5.0 Great location. Walking distance to central Tropea tourist areas, nice beach immediately nearby, and spectacular seaside views. Hotel itself is solid, with spacious and clean rooms (although cleaning is not offered daily). Staff generally friendly and helpful, although unfortunately one bad incident ended up impacting our experience. The hotel promotes their own restaurant, and on our first night we accepted the suggestion. They were pushing a pre-selected menu, which we had little interest in, but the desk host ensured us a la carte would also be available. When we got there the waiter advised that only the pre-selected menu was practically available because they only had one person working the kitchen and he would struggle to prepare items outside what he was focused on. We were disappointed, but agreed since it was already late and we were kind of trapped there at that point and quite hungry. The food was bad, and we had to leave part-way through, unable to finish it beyond what we needed to eat simply to stem hunger from travels during the day without a meal. We subsequently advised the hotel about the experience. At checkout we were surprised to see we were charged full price for the meal, when we reasonably expected either a full or partial comp given the circumstances. The hotel manager simply said no concession possible. We were stunned at the service given price-point of the hotel, and left with a bad feeling after otherwise solid experience.

La douche coule et a rempli le plancher. La nourriture servie au petit-déjeuner n’est pas rafraîchie et est froide et sèche. La machine à café ne fonctionnait pas. Bref, Un endroit à éviter. Pas du tout comme dans la description en ligne:-(

Street parking is limited, desk staff unfriendly and unhelpful, they charged us for breakfast even though it was included, room was smelly, shower door didn't work, wifi kept dropping, TV didn't work, and beach was not nice. Only positive were the friendly guys working in the restaurant. Suggest you look elsewhere.

- Francesca (4/5): Ristruttrare HOTEL - Arrivati siamo accolti bene alla reception però l"attesa era di avere delle camere ampie come.descritte , dopodiche troviamo un bel.letto comodo e grande come.anche una tv di 40 pollici con sky, bagno sotto le attese con sicuramente molti lavori di ristrutturazione da fare oltre che aggiungere il bidet mancante e onestamente in italia lo si deve avere. Nel bagno di una coppia si rompe la porta a vetri della doccia e fortunatamente non succede nulla ma grande paura , costringemdo la reception a cambiare stanza.La posizione buonissima vicino al centro e al mare.

Der Abstieg (Treppen) durch Kaktusfeigensträucher seitlich ist schnell zu bewältigen und man ist in 5 Minuten am Strand. Das Morgenessen ist leicht mit vielen frischen Früchten, Buffet und Saft, Kaffees in allen Arten. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und gemütlich, sowie modern eingerichtet. Der Ausblick von der Frühstücksterrasse ist atemberaubend schön! Gerne mal wieder!

- Verified traveler (2/5): - Norme covid non rispettate, al ristorante ci è stato detto di togliere la mascherina, tanto mica si mangia con questa? L a camera fornita era un sotterraneo pagata 145 euro, in cui le mura erano umide (così come l' odore di tutta la stanza) e ancor prima di vedere la stanza la reception già ci aveva proposto un upgrade con 15 euro di differenza (tot. 160 euro a notte tassa) per avere una camera per disabili (con tutto il rispetto per i disabili), con asciugamani e lenzuola macchiate, camera pulita superficialmente. Accompagnati in camera (la bettola iniziale, piano -4), senza alcun servizio di trasporto valigie, la ragazza ha anche ironizzato sull'odore di muffa della stanza, dicendo è nel sottoscala. Colazione assente, fatta di un unico cornetto vuoto e bevande dal distributore (non per tutti i clienti, a simpatia i camerieri preparavano loro qualche espresso o cornetti farciti). Il parcheggio segnalato come incluso nel prezzo e gratuito, in realtà non esiste, bisogna cercare posto nella strada pubblica esterna. Il costo della camera, rispetto al servizio ricevuto, è inadeguato. 160 euro a notte buttate! Una vera rapina!

Pulizia a dir poco scadente. Wifi a intermittenza. Colazione praticamente inesistente composta da un cornetto di quelli surgelati, qualche monoporzione di biscotti, 2 tipi di marmellatine tutto rigorosamente di discount!!! Spacciata per una struttura 3 stelle ma che ne vale 1!! Da evitare!

- Santo (2/5): Awful hotel - This hotel had lost our reservation and tried to tell us that hotels. Com who we had booked it with did not send them a booking confirmation, so we had no room . They finally ended up giving us a room but it wasn't the room we had asked for .I had asked for a junior suite which was much bigger with an ocean view , it had a sofa bed as well which one of us was supposed to sleep on . Instead we had a Tiny room where one of us had to sleep on the floor . When I called hotels . Com to find out what happened they said that we were booked with the junior suite and that the only thing that could of happened is the hotel gave our room away to someone else I would not stay here ever again , it wasn't comfortable and there was an awful smell in the room all night.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is not too far from the train station -- head towards a historic part of the town or contact hotel for instructions. The train station is small and mostly self-serviced -- learn Italian! Hotel Valemare has been the most French Riviera looking property on our trip, though it is a typical 3 story low ceilings building one can see in many American seaside towns. Our hotel room has been newly and tastefully furnished and had an interior, rather roomy, closet. Despite it's close proximity to the small restaurant and the pool there has been no noise and no unpleasant odors. On the contrary, the small terrace-looking restaurant has become a highlight of our culinary experience this trip. A calm versatile cook, with just one very nice helper threw in a variety of local freebies for breakfast and some ala carte dishes we have ordered have been very tasty and plentiful. One day, when it started raining during the night and the rain would not stop ( mid October), we wondered if there would be any service at all. Yet the restaurant stayed open welcoming last minute diners and a group of just arrived soaked wet French tourists. In the morning, despite the rain, we saw the cook coming in very early with fresh selection -- the terrace has been all tucked in with plastic covers in no time and there had been business as usual. We would have returned just for that cook and beautiful Tropea centro storico minutes walk from where we stayed.
- Linda (10/5): Great find! - So glad we chose this hotel! Our 2nd floor room was very comfortable and quiet (this was slow season, don't know what the noise level would be like in peak season!). The front balcony/porch had the most beautiful sea view, with table and chairs to relax and enjoy it. The unit was 2 rooms, 1 with bed and 1 with a sofa, in addition to the bathroom. Rooms were large. The location was good, close to the beach and to the historic section of town. The breakfast -- oh my goodness, breakfast was the best in our 3 weeks of traveling Italy. A few hot traditional food items and an excellent pastry selection. Two items for fellow travelers. During our stay the wifi connection was not available in all rooms-we ended up having to move to a different room so that we could have wifi access (receptionist was very helpful and ensured we got a room that had the connection). Also, the hotel.com link for the hotel says rooms have coffee/tea makers, but we didn't see this in the 2 units we were in.

La douche quoique propre, aurait besoin d'un bon nettoyage en profondeur pour que les vitres ne soient pas striées de savon. Le lit est à la limite du confort et aurait besoin de nouveau matelas. Notre chambre donnait sur La gare qui est de l'autre côté de la rue, donc bruit toute la nuit. Le Personel, tres aimable et aidant. Mais somme-toute bon rapport qualité prix.

There were no lights on any of the buildings when you’re walking to the hotel. Reception was very friendly and took us to our room. We were on the bottom floor and it smelt like garbage. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and we had no hot water. We left the following day and checked into another place.

- Philippe (10/5): Une nuit est trop court - Nous avons pris cette hôtel pour une nuit seulement et transit pour Rome. Nous aurions du prendre pour plus d’une nuit. L’hôtel est vraiment superbe. Le personnel est très courtois et gentil. Nous n’avons pas eu de problèmes à avoir de l’aide avec nos six valises. Nous allons revenir sans faute à cette hôtel la prochaine fois que nous sommes de passage à Sorrento.

- Amber (10/5): Feels like home away from home - This hotel is in a residential neighborhood and it really is homely. I got the room with the partial sea view and I must say I am really impressed. The room was well updated, the bed was clean and comfortable and bathroom was the perfect size. TV had ample amount of channels, some even american. Continental breakfast was tasty with a different variety everyday. Nutella crepes were offered on the weekend . The restaraunt was open at great hours of the day and you could buy snacks and cappaccino at your leisure. Dinner was plentiful and delicious at a fair price $20. Comes with wine. I enjoyed the dinners. They were 3 course meals. The beach is about a 7 minute walk with many small shacks for drinks and quick bites. Other sites to visit and the main streets of Tropea are a short 15 minute walk as well. I felt safe walking at all times. The Horus Sea Spa is adjacent to the hotel and it is definately worth a visit for a massage. The spa is quaint , clean and overlooks the beach. I thoroughly emjoyed the massage I had. I booked hotel shuttle to/from the airport and is $70 each way. Pretty fair and about 1hr drive. My shuttle driver was safe and professional. This was definately a 5star experience for my first time to Tropea. I definately recommend this stay.

- Sharon (10/5): Great hotel, lovely location. - We had a great week with friends at this hotel. The restaurant was good for dinner in the evening and a very wide choice for breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and without exception all the staff we had contact with were very helpful, polite, welcoming and professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Access to the beach was easy though you do need to bear in mind there are lots of steps. The town was a 10min walk away with a wide range of cafes and shops. The area is very pretty and because you are high up the views are amazing. The only criticism we had was there was limited outside space to sit. Had we booked earlier we would definitely have gone for a room with a terrace. Whilst we had a balcony space was limited and the only other communal area was by the small pool. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so memorable.
- TGS (8/5): Great locatikn - Location is good. Only a short hike down to the beach. The bed was VERY hard! And we were given a 'basement' type room that was very dark and smelled very strongly of mold. The breakfast is decent and the staff friendly. Parking was available right outside and it's a close walk to the historical Centre. I'd stay here again if I could have the upstairs rooms where you actually can have a breeze come thru and air out the room....

It is close to the Main Street yet noStrada Comunale Immirzit busy and has amazing views and easy access to the beach. The rooms are big and breezy and whilst not overly modern they are clean and functional. The staf fare very helpful and the restaurant has great food. We loved it.

Restaurant was good - we had breakfast there daily. The beach is close, just a short walk down the steps and a private walkway. The views are amazing. Walking to the main streets of Tropea was quick and the free parking for our rental car was perfect.
- Mike (2/5): Motel, definitely not a hotel. - First off, The hotel felt more like an old motel. Soon as we walked in the room a dingy old smell hits your nose. We found bugs on the floor. The fixtures in the bathroom were falling apart. The shower water never got past warm. And lastly I've had better sleep on an air mattress.

There were holes in the ceiling and stains on the walls, it was an absolute nightmare! Would never recommend this hotel to anyone....it will truly ruin your trip to such a beautiful beach town!

Hotel is close enough to all the shops and restaurants Tropea has to offer and is still steps from the beach. Our room had plenty of space for our family of 4. Beds were comfy and air conditioning worked great. There was a little mold in the bathroom but that was my only complaint. Breakfast was perfect and the view is just gorgeous. Would love to come back!!

On site restaurant, staff were helpful especially in the restaurant, parking not too hard to find. Room was small but modern and functional. Highlight is direct access to the beach. 10 mins walk to markets and shops.

- Not Provided (10/5): Dream holiday. - We couldn't believe our luck. Absolutely brilliant off-season stay: the staff spoiled us rotten, nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate in the hotel every evening(very reasonable) and enjoyed all sorts of local specialities.The rooms were lovely:comfy and clean with amazing views over the sea and the Island of Stromboli from two (!!!)balconies. (Added bonus: Italian conversation lessons from the very patient staff!)
- Dom (8/5): VERY NICE - This Hotel has been one of the best we have been to. The rooms were very comfortable, the bed was a King-size and bathroom facilities were also of high standard. The restaurant food provided was also very good and staff all very friendly. The ONLY negative we had (possibly because of the location of our room) we had weak Wi-Fi signal and this was very annoying. I had to go to another location of this large hotel structure to obtain some connectivity. However the entire experience for us was min. 4* Well done

BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE THE STANDARD ROOM RESERVED FOR US, I PAID TO THE HOTEL AN UPGRADE TO A LARGER SUPERIOR ROOM (THE SAME AMOUNT PRE-PAID TO HOTELS.COM), BUT THE CONCERNS ABOUT THE ROOM CONFORT AND THE REDUCED SHOWER WERE PRACTICALLY THE SAME.

- Mark (4/5): Stay away from this hotel - Very outdated hotel in desperate need for renovation. Gave us probably the worst room available while deluxe seaview room was booked. They advertise their rooms as having full sea view while in reality it is partial view of the sea. Same thing is with "private balcony". They do not have private balconies. Customer service is zero. Was not able to speak with the property manager Valentina after leaving numerous messages at the front desk.

The ocean was a short walk down the steps and across the road. The beach is a pebble beach and the water is gorgeous! Easy to rent umbrellas and chairs. The food at the hotel restaurant was very delicious and fresh. We were only able to stay for one night but would definitely book this hotel again for a longer stay.

- Joseph G (10/5): Gorgeous Views - The hotel had a beautiful location and had easy access to a beach nearby. The hotel provided complimentary fruit and snacks in the afternoon, which was welcome after spending a day on the beach. The shower in the bathroom was tiny. The staff also spoke limited English. Every employee was warm and friendly though and overall this is a hotel that is definitely worth staying at. Some additional info to be aware of: Tropea is far less touristy than the rest of Italy and there are no cabs that are readily available, which can make getting to and from the train station a hassle (contact your hotel ahead of time with your arrival time!).
- Verified traveler (2/5): Two words.........Stay Away! - Arrived late afternoon, parked the car on a nearby street and risked a parking ticket. The hotel parking was very limited (four cars max). Requested a room on the upper floor about a month ago. They told us there were none available upon our arrival. The hotel is pretty run down and requires a face-lift. The floor was covered with dust balls and the bed covers were torn. We went to bed around midnight and could not sleep due to a hotel employee repairing something causing a screeching noise until 03H00 a.m ! Food such as crackers, the usual pastries and danish were stale. This hotel is definitely not worth 260$/night!
- Sonia (6/5): Good location and great staff. - I found the hotel to be very good service and good location but the appearance of the rooms from the outside really felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The stove didn't work (although we didn't really want to cook anyway). The bathroom shower was really hard to negotiate because it was so tiny, but overall we enjoyed our stay and the staff were really friendly and accommodating.

Free parking, breakfast included, very reasonable hotel with an excellent view of the ocean and castel/church on the hill. Definitely pick one of the apartments - having your own kitchen is great. Excellent town to explore and this hotel really make our trip comfortable.
