Guest Reviews
- melanie (10/5): - lovely warm welcome
definitely recommend
- Jonathan (10/5): - Safe space for my motorbike, pleasant hosts, quaint little place
- Le-Anne (8/5): Great location - Well located, 20 mins walk into centre. Lovely breakfast hamper for an extra charge.
- Louise (8/5): Nice little spot for a Tenby break - Great location. Clean room. Would have preferred a shower.
- STEPHEN (10/5): - Felt like living in the woods, down a lovely leafy lane, once in the room it was so relaxing it felt like a chore to go out , very QUAINT,
- BETHAN (10/5): - We would highly recommend this as it is quiet and out of the way but not too far (10-15mins walk) from town itself, Marion was very welcoming and accommodating, especially as we brought our dog with us which was gifted a treat on arrival.
The accommodation itself was lovely and up to a high standard, will definitely return and would highly recommend to others.
- Mark (4/5): Deceiving - No hot tub just a bath very small bathroom, noisy throughout the night would, nt go again, also couldnt get wifi connection
- Nancy (10/5): - The owner, Marion, was so lovely and welcoming, and her two dogs were a delight to be around. So energetic and friendly! It was decorated very nicely, and felt like home. Would definitely book again next time I come to Tenby.
- Ceredig (10/5): - Great place to stay, full of character.
- Danielle (10/5): - We booked this properly last minute. Lovely room and Marion was lovely.
- Pauline (10/5): - Staff were really friendly and helpful. Beautiful old world rooms. Good price.
- Stephen (10/5): Tenby stay little red rooster - Arrived early, met by owner marion who was lovely and welcoming as soon as she knew our names kept on remembering. Room was large and clean with the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on.Accomodation has a rustic look but very quaint.Only stayed for one night but would have no hesitation in staying again when we visit tenby.Free parking only a 10 min walk to the town or £5 by taxi.
- Stephen (6/5): - We arrived and were asked to wait while the property owner went to vets but they didn’t come back for 50 minutes. We went to bed early as we’d been up since 4am yet when trying to go to sleep owners dogs would not stop barking. I don’t normally do reviews but this property could be so much better
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Instructions for the room were for some reason provided verbally by the property owner, with no backup printout in the room.
WiFi did not really work.
More space between the bath and the toilet would have been useful.
Our original booked room had apparently been given to someone else, provided a long and confusing explanation about this and then had to wait at the front door for new room to be sourced.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet area - Excellent
- Verified traveler (6/5): Views of the Mews.... - Overall there are some points to consider. Firstly we were greeted by the 'owner' whom I felt great concern due to her apparent health issues and restricted mobilities. Thankfully she had a 'helper' for the more hands on day to day tasks. When discussing dietary needs such as non dairy prompted a response... " I don't like Oak milk or Soya".. Speaking of Breakfast... This consisted of a 'basket' of 'continental' breakfast. Boiled eggs, Apples, Cheesy mini cheddars, protein bars. This breakfast basket will set you back around £7.00. Tea and coffee are the usual hotel packs with a kettle in the room. The Spa corner bath takes up most of the room in the small bathroom. Room for one only! The therapy being a blast of water on the bottom and a single light fitting in the side of the bath.. It changes colour! Very tight fit on the loo unless you are ultra slim and small.. The hand basin is just for that.. Hands. Men. Try not to bend over to wash.. you'll knock yourself out on the shelving unit. There's no shower which rather restricts your ablutions. The Bed is firm but why roll back the quilt each morning? Over all in my opinion this isn't a 'Superior' accommodation. Best try looking for more bang for your buck in Tenby. There are more accommodating B&B's or Hotels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice little place - It was a good place, quite clean and nice but the bathroom didn't have a door which it was a bit weird and the place is at the top of a hill. It's not a big deal but maybe it could be for people who struggle walking etc.
It's a bit further from Tenby, for us was ok as we don't care about walking but it's not a typical hotel you find in tenby town next to the beach or something like that although this is quite clear in the map.
- Anthony (8/5): - Good room and very nice hosts
- Lorraine (6/5): One night stay - Good parking, 20min walk into town. Shame that there is no breakfast, although you could pay an extra £14 for a hamper to be delivered to your room, but don't cater for dairy/gluten intolerances. The bathroom fan stays on a long time which is very noisy in room. The walls are very thin so can hear your neighbours. The room was very dingy despite having a window. Unfortunately, the milk in the room was off.
- Martyn (2/5): Hotels.com - Won’t be using Hotels.com for any future bookings. Refused to refund me after my booking was cancelled by the hotel.
- Harvey (8/5): ADecent Place to Roost - Very quiet, with a very large bed for the room. The en-suite was amazing. The internet worked well, but the TV reception was spotty. There's complimentary tea and coffee, but if you want a continental breakfast, it's £7 extra. Within walking distance of the harbor.
- Stephen (10/5): - We travelled to Tenby to attend Tenby Blues Weekend. We had a wonderful weekend and the accomodation at Red Rooster was first class
- Janet (4/5): - Didn’t see anyone when trying to give key in on departure wouldn’t do breakfast as full. No bedside cabinets bed too big for size of room. No shower only spa didn’t use couldn’t get in it. Spa too big for bathroom. Cobwebs in walk-in wardrobe above light . Room 16 was not in hotel not worth the price £120 no breakfast
- Sharon (10/5): Lovely stay. - Spotlessly clean, very comfy bed. Loved the jaquzz.Owner was very friendly and helpful. Good location.
- gail (4/5): - Unsuitable for dogs due to an attic room and through a baby gate and owners dogs free to roam . Paid extra 30.00£ for 1 night for dogs. no access to garden for dogs to walk just the driveway.. would have bbeen better on ground floor room with access to the garden there. Cost 150.00 for 1 night just room no breakfast.
- Jaspreet (8/5): - Very cute stay! Easy walk into town. Clean & affordable. Large washroom, good shower.
Bed was not super comfy though. Hosts were not very responsive. When I rang the main doorbell the night before checkout to ask how to checkout (there were no instructions in the room, nor did anyone tell us anything when we checked in) there was no answer at the door.
- Home (10/5): Little Hidden Jem. - Excellent & Superb
- Glith (6/5): - Due to a family emergency we had to go home and only stayed 1 night instead of 3. Hard to give a review as we arrived late and had to leave early . Unfortunately no refund and paid £15 for the dog. Marion was gracious and friendly on arrival . Did send an e mail with apology and reason for leaving as we did nt get to see her but did explain to some other lady why we had to rush off.
- Malcolm (10/5): - The decor is beautiful. Attention to detail is superb. Loved it *****
- Maria (10/5): Maria - Lovely hotel and beautiful owner and friend and family
- Amy (10/5): - This place is absolutely adorable! The location is perfect for sightseeing in Tenby. The facilities were clean and well kept. Our room was comfortable, and the hostess and staff made us feel very welcomed. The spa/jacuzzi in our bathroom was wonderful after a long day of travel. Our only regret is that we could stay there for one night only.
- Brian (6/5): Very old fashioned room - We were, apparently, upgraded to this room. The room was dark and cluttered. It had a jacuzzi type of bath but no shower. This was presumably the 'Spa' in the Hotels title.
Noise from either other guests or the owners moving about above till very late was disturbing.
- Katelyn (6/5): - The property itself was fantastic, and very cute.
- Owen (10/5): - Lovely place to stay lovely hosts recommend 👌
- CERI (8/5): A welcome surprise - On arrival first impression was a bit doubtful but don’t be out off - the staff are lively and the room comfortable and spotless would def stay again.
- TIMOTHY (8/5): - We had a nice room.
Around a 20 minute walk into Tenby centre.
Very quiet area with free parking.
You can order breakfast which comes in a hamper.
The hotel is good value for money.
Just be aware that not all en-suites have a shower. The lounge was closed when we were there.
- vanessa (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful!!
Great hosts, great location and super stylish!!
- Kath (10/5): - .
- Judith (6/5): Disappointed - I am trying to contact the owner by email to make the review private.
On arrival at the accommodation after a lengthy conversation with the owner two months ago where we were told we had to book 3 nights as it was iron man weekend. There was only one room for us not the two I had confirmed over the phone and made an additional £279.
My son who was taking part in the ironman had to sleep on the floor with his partner. The following night we had three rooms but only needed two but were not offered a refund or compensation for the mistake. Disappointed to say the least as Marion had reassured me it was all in order, most expensive stay ever £351.02 plus another £279 wow
- Grace (10/5): Would recommend! - Lovely stay. Marion is a lovely host.
- Martin (10/5): First class absolutely amazing. - My wife and myself have just got back from a fantastic 3 night stay at the little red rooster hotel tenby, on our arrival we were met by the owner Marion, and what a welcome it was, Marion is so friendly welcoming cheerful and chatty, Marion showed us to our room and what and what a room it was, we had a communal livingroom our bedroom had a fabulous king size sleigh bed which was so comfortable i wanted to take it home with us, our bathroom was stunning with an amazing spa bath, the room had all you needed in it TV tea coffee and hot chocolate sugar and milk to fill your needs, plenty of electrical sockets to be able to charge your electrical equipment with. And the whole place was spotlessly clean, you could eat your food off the floor, we also took advantage of the continental breakfast hamper which was delivered on time by Kate every morning, the hamper was full of nice things and very filling, I will be recommending the little red rooster hotel to all my family and friends, i didn't want to come home and looking forward to going back to the little red rooster hotel soon, Thank You Marion And Kate for your wonderful hospitality we are looking forward to seeing you both soon, xx
- Shelli (10/5): Food Festival weekender - Quirky little b&b a short walk to the shops and beaches. Marion was a friendly character that both me and my partner Darren instantly loved! The room was very clean and the bed was super comfy. We will definitely return when looking to book our next overnight or weekend stay in Tenby.
- Ali (10/5): - Fantastic place
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will be returning. - Received a warm welcome on arrival. High standard of cleanliness. The site advertises a hot tub with the room but be aware it is a bath with jets. Despite this we had a pleasant stay, parking is free onsite and only a short walk into town. Ideal location for us. We will be returning at a later date.
- Jakki (10/5): - Absolutely loved this B&B, the owner Marion and her daughter, are absolutely lovely and nothing is too much trouble. With only a lovely 10 minute walk to the town it’s in a great quiet beautiful location. Very clean property with a personal touch to make it feel like a home from home. Would recommend.
- Shelley (10/5): - It was a nice room, we loved the bathroom and spa bath and Marian was lovely as well as her very cute, friendly little dog. They were very welcoming and nice and we loved our stay. I would highly recommend staying here and we would definitely book to come back again.
- Andrew (10/5): A fantastic place to stay - We had one night booked here and we could not fault anything about our stay. The room was fantastic and the modern jacuzzi was spotlessly clean. All in all a lovely place to stay.
PS, don't look at the negative reviews on Google etc, I think people look out for faults just to be awkward in this day and age. Go and enjoy a wonderful stay in a lovely location just outside Tenby town.
- Martin (10/5): - Great time and rooms where very good . Had a great time . Definitely be staying there again 👍👍👍
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quirky beautiful stay - Fantastic location with Fantastic hosts.
Loved the breakfast.
Little odd there was a bath a no shower, and the toilet is badly placed for a larger gent.
- Theresa (10/5): Beautiful House in Tenby - The room was lovely with a bath spa.
The Owner was very helpful.
- Lisa Marie (10/5): - Lovely welcoming staff. Very friendly. Beautiful room
- Helen (10/5): Little red rooster - Overall very good but conformation said check in from 2 and we got sent away till 3 but apart from that it was a lovely room and very clean, nice and quiet with parking
- Anita (4/5): nd - Misleading information about hot tub and spa. When we arrived no hot tub just small bath with some bubbles. When i called to check if they have hot tub they said yes they do as we getting luxury room. Nothing special in stay was just ok. Room was bit out of date. Do we gone stay there again ? NO
- Hudson (10/5): - Great location , best place to stay in Tenby
- Nicole (4/5): Alright stay, wouldn’t go again - The description when booking the room said private hot tub, when arriving we discovered our private hot tub was actually a bath with jets.
The heating didn’t work and the room was cold at times due to cold room the towels were wet and in the morning the towels weren’t change and still wet on the 2nd night after having a shower the first night.
The breakfast was not a conventional continental breakfast, it included bread, butter, sausage rolls, southern fried chicken, stale crisps, cereal bars, capri sun orange, walnuts and fruit. No plates, just knifes.
Host overly chatty but didn’t seem approachable with problems.
- Louise (10/5): Home from home - Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Marion was very welcoming, made us feel at home.
- James (2/5): Disgusted - She would not let us stay because we couldn't find the place and turned up late we couldnt check in no where else as all were fully book so we had to sleep rough. We are disgusted in how she treated us and we are looking in to how we get our money back.
- Anne Marie (10/5): - Beautifully place and excellent hostess x
- prudence (2/5): - Lots of old fashioned heavy furniture. Very outdated, old fashioned. Very dark in room. Wifi wouldn’t work in room, had to go outside. The shaver points no good - no reason given except ‘well they’re English my dear’! Whatever that means? Spa bath (bath with jets in) not very good, more trouble than worth and no shower. Landlady not particularly pleasant. Worst thing for me was the smell of old dog in the room. Also when talking to landlady it kept licking my feet yuk! Very glad to leave and would not recommend at all.
- Ian (4/5): Basil Fawlty’s Hen - We were asked to leave after 10 nights of a 14 night stay. I’m not going to make excuses, the unexpected hostile behaviour of one of our dogs towards other guests was poor and for that I apologise to the guests involved, yet that wasn’t the reason why we were asked to leave! The actual reason was rather more complicated and far less understandable. All I will say is that the owner lives in a black and white world whereby either everything is wonderful and the guests have a very enjoyable stay, or things go wrong which are almost invariably the fault of the guest(s) and hardly ever the fault of the owner. The problem is that things go wrong much more often than they should, but don’t take my word for it. Have a look at the reviews on Trip Advisor and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The style of the furniture and decor was old fashioned but very good quality and condition. The room was spotlessly clean and tidied each morning. The one modern touch was the jacuzzi bath in the ensuite. Plenty of tea and coffee provided and replenished each day.
- Neil (10/5): 2 night stay - Enjoyed 2 night stay in lovely town
- Danny (10/5): Staycation - Lovely accommodation, ideally located to walk into town and beach.
- IAN (8/5): - The accomodation is very good and we stayed in what was a Victorian house with the lounge renovated as it would have been in Victorian times. Marion, the owner is quite a character and is very friendly. She is prepared to prepare a very good continental breakfast hamper for 6.50 which is well worth it. A word of caution in that it is located approx. 15 mins walking time from Tenby centre but two fairly steep hills have to be navigated.
- Paul (2/5): Very rude and poor service - On arrival the room I had booked had been given to someone else. My new room was on the top floor and had a bath when I had booked a room with a shower. The TV did not work and when I reported the issue, I was told to retune myself, which it still did not work. When I again asked for it to be fixed or a room change, I was told it’s life!!!!!
- John (2/5): Double booked - We were double booked! Tired and stressed
Owner was helpful finding us an alternative accommodation
- Margaret (2/5): A disaster!! - Our 'stay' was a disaster. We arrived to be told that our room was unavailable. Our host attempted to arrange an alternative - this was a further 2 miles away from Tenby, was not available to us as there was no answer to the door bell at the premises, nor the telephone. We had no alternative than to seeking other accommodation (none available) and then driving home - 190 miles. We had travelled from Cardiff to Tenby for this visit (about 90 miles, so did an 'extra' 180 miles to get to a pre-booked venue only to find our room was not available to us. We await your comments on this awful experience, together with a return of the payment made to you in advance to which you might add the cost of our extra travel (referred to above) and something to compensate us for the loss of 4 days of our planned holiday.
- Mary (10/5): Complete chill out - We went for my birthday and had a great stay. The host Marion was a wonderful lady. The bed and airbath were fabulous. We needed to chill out and thats exactly what we did. It was sooo quite just what the Dr ordered!!
- stephen (2/5): Not what says on tin - Owners dog barking till one thirty am first night second owners tv or her speaking until mid nite loft room constantly banging head no spa just bath small jets very very disappointed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I called to confirm, owner very friendly, great location, free parking and free WiFi, free spa, 10 min from beach, comfy bed, I cannot fault it, love the little dogs she got, a very warm welcome indeed, I got coffee / tea and free toiletries, tv 📺. Reading other reviews they were not like my experience at all! I would come back with my husband 😀
- Kim (10/5): loved it here - We had a lovely two night stay here .The room was perfect very clean with beautiful decor and furnishings .Marion was an excellent host very friendly and so helpful .would recommend this place as it was excellent value for money .Hope to return in the near future
- Delta (6/5): - Not so good very old fashioned not to our taste at all not central to Tenby
On site carpark was very awkward with van
Then we were charged a extra fee for bringing dog so not happy as asked twice for it !
- Robert (10/5): Tenby Stay - We stayed in the old house with the spa bath. Room was very nice, comfortable & clean. We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend it. Parking is a little tight but luckily for us there wasn’t many guest so it wasn’t a problem for us.
- Stewart (2/5): Very dissatisfied and disappointed. - Never made it to the accommodation as the accommodation stay was cancelled at 9 am the morning of the reservation. All this in the middle of August, peak season. The third party organisers were quite simply life savers, their professionalism saved the day big time.
- John (8/5): First Time in Tenby Wales - We decided to stay due to the case that we were not able to get a refund.
Overall it was a good stay. It qas quiet and very clean room we had.
- michelle (10/5): A delightful stay - What an absolutely beautiful place to stay. Extremely clean and friendly. A 15 min walk to Tenby centre. Would highly recommend the little Red Rooster for a short break
- Karen (6/5): - I paid the extra £10 for the dog to stay which wasn’t stipulated at time of booking, however I never received my £10 change as couldn’t find the owner on the morning of leaving. We also had a leak in the bathroom through the ceiling and all of our toiletries were soaking wet.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I booked as it stated hotel and spa ,
Was Not a hotel or ether a spa , also booked room with jacuzzi bath and ended up with a shower ,
Owner quiet rude , checking stated 12-2 so we arrived at 12 after a 2 hour drive journey and she sent us away and told to come back after 2 maybe 3 , only breakfast offer was a basket of pastries cost of £6 but you had to order the evening before with a set time you wanted them so we didn’t bother and went into town and left !
For the price of £86 was Not worth it and wouldn’t return ,
- Vasanth (10/5): Loved it - Enjoyed our stay here. It's only 10 mins to the town. Clean n comfy room with excellent amenities. Free wifi in room was a blessing. The jacuzzi spa bath was fantastic. We loved it. Only set back was with our check in. We had to wait atleast 20min for Marion to sort our room even though it was all paid well in hand before. Other than that we had a great time.
- Marge (10/5): A Gem - Lovely place, spotlessly clean, and Marion is wonderful, a real diamond, highly recommend this wonderful guest house.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Impossibly cramped - A very comfy bed and very dog friendly. but put in three quarter height upstairs room so banged heads on huge beams. The fire door was a deadlock so very dangerous. Sharp carpet rail under window. Access and departure impossible at school rush hour. No lobby so left standing outside for ages. The bathroom is stupidly cramped and impossible to be in wirhout banging your head and shoulders. Room is overdressed with ornaments leavong nowhere to put cases. Wifi and tv reception intermittant.
- TM (10/5): Great stay - A great couple of days at Little Red Rooster, our room inc a small jet spa but this was lovely, Marion made us feel very welcome and supplied a lovely continental breakfast (charge) the following morning. The location is about 10-15 mins walk from the centre of Tenby but is in a very quiet area as it was weekend (there is a school nearby). Really enjoyed our stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint. No door on bathroom. Driveway difficult to manoeuvre a large car. Bed firm but comfortable.
