Guest Reviews
- Sara (10/5): Great B&B, highly recommend. - Everything was perfect. Received a warm welcome even given a late arrival. Home, room, and breakfast were all second to none. Highly recommend! Thank you.
- Gary (7/5): -
- howard (8/5): Very good breakfasts. Handily situated for Milton Park and Ride into Cambridge - Clean, warm and cosy
- Andrew (9/5): - Location was lovely and quiet
Breakfast was superb
- Howard (8/5): Well situated for our needs. Clean and well maintained property. Very nice breakfasts - Cosy, warm and clean; quiet location. Friendly staff Nothing to dislike
- Yvonne (8/5): - Very warm family couple.
Breakfast lovely and varied food.
Near a two villages. No lighting on main road, for late walking.
- Relmi (8/5): -
- Keith (8/5): -
- 07castle (10/5): absolutely brilliant, the beds were so comfy, a really good nights sleep. - The breakfast room is clean bright and all the tables a laid out nicely with table mats , clean cutlery ,fresh milk, butter, fresh fruit, jams ,cereals ,fresh orange juice yogurts available to help yourself. Absolutely nothing. You couldn't want for any thing more.
- Catherine (10/5): - Accueil très sympathique de Bob, qui nous a ouvert la chambre plus tôt que prévu au vu de la pluie, qui a raccourci notre visite de Cambridge.
Petit déjeuner copieux. Ras
- BRIGHT (1/5): Awful - Nothing It smelt of wet dog, the host was miserable, the bedding was old and worn, the towels were hard and old and faded, the shower was dirty and the towel holder was rusty, did not stay for breakfast because the dining room was small and tables sticky, all in all not a good B&B at all.
- Stephen (8/5): Brambles - Owners very accommodating
- Stuij (7/5): Personal contact makes it worthwhile - Lovely owner, good breakfast, good shower For the price, the room was a bit small and tucked away. Matrasses could use an update.
- Tracy (10/5): Great place to stay and close to the park and ride into Cambridge. - Clean, comfortable and well thought out. Host was lovely.
- Jon (9/5): Lovely country house, quiet with great breakfast. - Room was cool and quiet for sleeping, great breakfast and friendly host.
- Hannah (8/5): - The lady who checked us in was lovely. She showed us to our room and told us about the breakfast menu.
The room is nice and has everything you could need.
The only negative is that there was only half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and no spares anywhere to be seen.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The stay was very mixed. On the plus side it the cleanliness of the bedding and bathroom was excellent and the breakfast was wonderful. On the downside the size of the room and the ensuite left a lot to be desired. They were both absolutely tiny. despite the room being advertised as accessible. I am disabled and need a zimmer frame to move a round at night which was impossible with the layout of the room. We had to have a major rearrangement of the furniture to allow me to access the toilet. Also there was nowhere to put anything like toiletries either in the bedroom or the bathroom. and the bathroom was not very private to the outside. Having said all of this if I had been a single traveller needing an overnight stay somewhere just outside Cambridge it would have been an excellent option. The owner Bob was very friendly.
- Margaret (9/5): Cosy B&B - Cosy warm room, lovely breakfast, very friendly staff. All fine
- David (10/5): - Second time i have used the Brambles, Bob is always polite and helpful, and the fresh breakfast tastes so much better than at a large chain hotel, rooms are very clean and tidy
- David (8/5): Very minor issues and would happily stay again. - Value for money, breakfast included, quiet location, parking availability and friendly host. Tv very small and had to get closer to tv to see what was on the channels as the guide was very small writing.
Floor very creaky so made me feel I needed to creep about during the night to use the bathroom.
Toilet took about 5 mins to stop flushing.
Was a really cold icy night but was very cold in the room during the night.
- Gary (9/5): Very conviennient location and a good welcome ! - Very friendly and welcoming owner.
Great location for staying to attend a meeting just on the northern side of Cambridge
- Carly (9/5): Lovely stay and Bob was very friendly. - Lovely room, very cosy and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to spec, very nice.
- Lori (10/5): - Bob was a terrific host. He cooks a wonderful breakfast!
- caroline (8/5): - Lovely stay and the owner was very friendly
- Katerina (2/5): Horrific How has this place got 8.6 reviews - The location was good very near water beach which is where I wanted to be at a wedding I did not have the breakfast although it was included as I did not stay in the room due to the awful damp smell I slept in my car till it was day light and then headed back to London. I was alone and felt very vulnerable as I had no where else to go The room had an awful damp muggy smell
The bedding was very old and tacky
The curtains the rugs were smelly
The mirror was so high I couldn’t see in it lack of lighting in the room. It was a room from the 1950’s. I use booking.com very regularly I’ve never stayed in a place like this. Couldn’t stay in there so slept in my car which made me feel so unsafe as it was very dark in the car park. But the smell was intolerable
- Nigel (10/5): - Perfect location and easy stay. Great hospitality.
- S (10/5): - We were well looked after by Bob who also provided useful local information. The location was good, the room was great and the freshly cooked breakfasts were excellent!
Would definitely recommend,
- David (10/5): A great place for a stopover, quiet and out of town . - Bob, the owner and host could not do enough for us to make our stay pleasant.
He also suggested a suitable place for us for an evening meal and made the table reservation for us. Very chatty and friendly. Adequate parking space. Nothing to dislike
- Apostolos (6/5): Ok, I suppose for one night. - We stayed one night. A quick stop before heading north for a road trip around the UK. The room was pleasant, but a bit small and tight for space. Zoey, the lady that showed us our room was pleasant and a great character we had a laugh. She also made us breakfast in the morning. Thanks Zoey. The room was pleasant, but a bit small and very tight for space. The B&B is in the middle of nowhere. Far from Cambridge. There was a mix-up or a miscommunication between booking.com and the owner of this B&B (I think his name is Bob.) I pre-booked and prepaid this booking for one night which was charged and paid for from my credit card by booking.com. The owner Bob, then called me after one day of checking out, stating he tried to charge my credit card for the stay several times and was declined. At this stage I thought something fishy was going on. So After checking my credit card transactions I called Bob back telling him that I have indeed already been charged and have already paid for the stay at the B&B and he should check with his bank and booking.com. He then proceeded to tell me that I have to contact booking.com and sort it out. Just be cautious. Like I said it all seemed a little bit fishy after that.
- Jane (8/5): Very good - We visited before & knew we would have a clean facilities, did not disappoint! Despite breakfast order, stating no beans & egg, still recieved, not a mega issue though as the sausage was fab!
- Blake (7/5): Good -
- Paul (10/5): - Friendly owners and a super breakfast.
- Sarah (8/5): Fine - Very clean. Excellent shower pressure. Friendly welcome. Ample parking. Flexible on breakfast time which was good as I needed to be away fairly early at the weekend. The fresh fruit salad was a nice addition to the usual breakfast options. Many floorboards squeak - I got woken at 4 am on the first night by my neighbour visiting the bathroom. (The 2nd night was fine.) I was surprised to be asked to state my breakfast requirements the night before.
- Ingrid (8/5): lovely breakfast and ample parking - I've stayed before and the breakfast is always excellent. Free parking just outside the door. I booked a double, but got twin beds. The room was clean, but the décor is a bit tired. One other guest remarked on it, but I think its more homely than boutique.
- Mary (8/5): Most enjoyable - Good breakfast.very obliging host.comfortable Nothing
- Nigel (9/5): B9b and Roxy treated us very well and were open to any special requirements - Very home from home and come feeling
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Punches above its wait. - We picked this lovely little b&b because of proximity to park and ride for access to Cambridge, so for us, it was well priced and hit the nail on the head. Parking facilities excellent and ditto proximity to M11. We were welcomed at the door by a cheery gentleman who was pleased to see us (yes, it's that easy to make us feel at home). The room was perfect; charging points, smelt fresh, comfortable beds, decent sized room, a shower and not a bath with shower in it so that has sold me. I don't have an issue per se with a shower in bath but it needs proper hand rails to allow easy exit which a lot don't. The litmus test was did I, and partner, wake up with stiff backs? Nope! The breakfast was to order, obviously limited scope for a smaller establishment but we got exactly what we wanted cooked exactly how we wanted. Breakfast was served on a hot plate (imagine that). Ultimately, the price paid was very fair for what we got. My score reflects price and quality for that price. I'd come again, in fact I will. Bravo. No issues.
- Angus (8/5): Very comfortable and welcoming - Very clean
Excellent host Bob
- Elizabeth (8/5): Excellent location, quite and comfortable, very enjoyable. - The breakfast and the chat with the owner. Nothing
- Furlong (10/5): Exceptional - Really comfortable. Breakfast was great. Attention to detail exceptional.
- Fred (8/5): Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. - Hot shower, comfy bed, great breakfast and just really good value stay. The smell from the chicken farm, nothing that can be done.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Lovely and clean, comfy bed, great breakfast I think maybe they were forgotten as I'm sure we had them last time but,no towels! We managed by using the toweling robe, didn't want to disturb the owner as we felt that we already had on our arrival
- Liu (8/5): Very good -
- Josefa (9/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable stay with a kind and helpful host. - The host cooked a wonderful breakfast and we had a fascinating long conversation with Bob during breakfast because we were the only guests at the time. Nothing
- Ann (6/5): Pleasant -
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (10/5): Beautiful property and staff - Beautiful property and Bob and staff friendly
- Peter (10/5): Excellent stay. -
- Mark (10/5): We've stayed here before and Bob is a great host. - Warm, comfy, clean, great amenities and a great breakfast.
- Adelaide (7/5): Very good location and comfortable stay - Good choice for breakfast. Shower room really modern and bright and a great shower with good water pressure.
Room nicely decorated. Desk area was a little dark, could have done with a desk lamp.
- Dave (9/5): Superb - Perfect location for my work trip to the innovation park. Friendly host and fab cooked breakfast.
- Dave (10/5): Ideal quite B & B for business use. - The breakfast was legendary. Very quick a came on a hot plate which is very rare. Everything was so clean and precise.
- Tracey (10/5): Would definately stay again. - On arrival the host offered a different room upstairs, it was a lovely large room with a very large shower room. The room was clean and well presented, tea/coffee facilities, biscuits. Order form for breakfast which was completed and left out for him to collect. There was a good selection offered for breakfast and this was cooked fresh. N/A
- Christine (8/5): Pleasant - Good breakfast with plenty of choice including gluten free for my husband The accommodation was good itself but a bit further out than stated on Web site 81/2 miles from Anglesey abbey not 41/2 as stated
- Jonathan (10/5): A lovely B&B, well recommended - Nice comfy room, friendly staff, great location.
Arrived in the darkness, was welcomed by the family dog, room was all ready for me - all I had to do is write down what I wanted for breakfast the next morning. This was promptly on time and cooked to perfection.
- Mark (8/5): great place to stay if you re in the area - Good value all round All good for me only negative is the pillows were not comfortable but I know that that is very personal
- Henrietta (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rickcrox (6/5): It was OK - Warm. The bed was made and the bins were emptied each day. The reception guy was very helpful with the door issue and turning on the heating. We were able to use the fridge to store our food that we brought to make our breakfast. The front door key did not work , we had to ring the door bell each time to get in. Although it is called a B&B breakfast it was not available at our time of visiting as the owner was on holiday. We think that this should have been made clearer at the booking stage. I did question the price, but was told that it had already been reduced to compensate for the lack of breakfast.
- Susan (4/5): - The owners were on holiday the person in charge did not seem to know what was going on. We paid for breakfast, on the first morning we were told to just help ourselves. There was cereal, fruit and toast, which was ok, but a little odd. The next two days the kitchen and breakfast room were locked. The room was very small, thankfully the bathroom was big enough to put our bag in as there was no where to store it in the bedroom. Location was good
- Gasfly (7/5): Good - Clean comfortable room, ample parking space, good shower, small fridge in the shared kitchen. I'd be happy to stay again, probably go round the back and let yourself in. There was no one to let us in when we arrived late afternoon, no reply to 3 different phone numbers. The resident neighbours had to overcome our entry problem. We were told to help ourselves to breakfast by a resident but told by the cleaner the next morning there is no breakfast available despite cereals etc being evident and tables set.
- Otoole (9/5): Superb -
- Lynn (7/5): Quiet clean cramped - Clean with ample parking Google maps gives wrong location. Our key for the front door didn’t work. Small room. We requested a stay with breakfast but there was none. We were informed of this but after we booked.
- James (5/5): Passable -
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Friendly welcome and great stay - Nice quiet location and great breakfast. The owner was welcoming and friendly. Overall very pleased The bed was a little noisey but comfortable. Nothing else to add.
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Rosemary (7/5): Lovely stay for a short break with a cheerful hospitable host - Set in quiet countryside, ample parking, lovely breakfast, hospitable host, welcoming staff’ clean and tidy throughout the property, free wifi, just right for a a break from home No sound proofing between the rooms so all you need is a noisy/inconsiderate person in the next room and it would definitely put a damper on things
- Jonathan (10/5): Excellent stay for work. - The greeting on arrival, the breakfast was great as usual. Thanks Bob. Slightly noisy night.
- Daan (8/5): All good - Good location and people Too far away from village
- PENG (10/5): - good service, nice place to stay
- Chris (10/5): Great B&B close to Ely and Cambridge - Lovely comfortable room, exceptionally comfortable bed. Great breakfast and lots of chat with the host and other guests over breakfast. Ideal location for Ely and Cambridge. Car essential for going for evening meal as nowhere walkable, but options are only a 5 minute drive. Nothing
- Kathleen (9/5): Innkeeper extroardinair runs this guest house - We loved our host and the professionalism of the property. Bob cooked us a delicious breakfast to order and actually fed us the best scrambled eggs of our 3 month holiday. Free parking on site just a few steps from the entrance. A Very quiet and peaceful location and close to The White House pub where we had a great meal. Both establishments were independent and owned by locals. Bob was great to talk to and gave us lots of tips for things to see - which we are in the middle of following through on!
- Kenneth (7/5): Good - Comfortable beds. English breakfasts excellent. Host very friendly and attentative. Twin bed downstairs room very small with no outside view. Would definitely choose upstairs room on a future occasion.
- Catalin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pawlo (7/5): Good -
- Aideen (5/5): Dissapointing given the price - It was clean, good parking and nice breakfast . The host was pleasant. Our room smelt damp/musty there was a dehumidifier that the owner emptied on request as it had a full tank. There was nowhere to put anything , one of us had to stand aside to let the other one pass. We had the twin
- Paul (10/5): Superb B & B. - Excellent room, plenty of parking, incredibly understanding and flexible owner (we explained we would be very late arriving from a wedding reception). Breakfast next morning was superb. Owner is a really good guy. He was so helpful to my wife and I. We definitely want to stay again sometime.
- David (8/5): Very good - Good location, clean, competitively priced and good breakfast.
- Garnier (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were warm and welcoming and breakfast was like being with friends. Also quite accommodating with my later arrival at check in. Nothing to fault

- Jose (9/5): Superb - Very helpful and friendly staff.
- Barry (9/5): Brilliant - Host was great comfort food Nothing
- Matthew (7/5): Good - The room was clean and acceptable, the breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice We ordered two double rooms, but on our arrival, we were given one double and one twin. We asked but were told that someone had decided to stay an extra night, so another double was not available.
- Mary (9/5): Lovely B and B - Friendly, comfortable and superb breakfast It would be noce to have a guest sitting room
- Nathan (8/5): Very good - Very friendly host
Excellent breakfast
- Michael (8/5): A pleasant stay with an excellent breakfast in the morning. - Comfortable bedroom and well-designed bathroom.
Quiet location. A married couple and I had to wait over half an hour after the advertised check-in time to gain access to the property. A neighbour finally arrived with keys.
There was no milk on the drinks tray in the bedroom.
The shower was a little weak, but otherwise functioned OK.
- Tristan (8/5): Very good -
- Stefano (7/5): Good -
- Blake (10/5): Returning stay - always good - Great host, pre at price, comfortable rooms Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Location slightly out of way. House, breakfast ,parking and everything else excellent. Nothing

- Rakesh (9/5): Superb -
