Guest Reviews
- Emmanuel (5/5): -
- Mbong (5/5): - I was charged the local fee. Not the booking.com fee
- Syster (9/5): -
- Regina (5/5): -
- I (10/5): Good valu for money. - Good value for money. There was no lift.
- TOLULOPE (1/5): Unimpressive - I reserved a room with a queens size bed but got a tiny double bed which they weren’t ready to change despite showing them my booking details.
Also, I gave my card details for payment to be effected online but I had to pay at the hotel at an outrageous conversion rate which added almost 25% extra cost. Bad bed, staffs were not helpful except those in the kitchen.

- Sara (8/5): This will be my go to hotel for any future trip to Accra. It is ideal - The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pool area is lovely and the music playing from the bar was very chilled and gave a great atmosphere. It is a great place to be based for a trip to Accra Nothing
- Axelle (5/5): - Chambre sympa. Grande salle de bain. Balcon sympa. Piscine.
- Captain (10/5): - There was no elevator.

- Patricia (8/5): - Bath mat a little grubby. Got a shock off the shower spray and tap, even with water heater turned off. Reported to front desk; they did not seem surprised. Breakfast OK. Margarine and jam for toast served in original large tubs or jars, used by all tables.
Not very sanitary, as can't control what people do with it or how they get the jam etc out of the home sized packaging. Do they lick their spoon and then dip it again into the jam or margarine? And how long do these sit uncovered during breakfast time?
- FRANK (10/5): - Sometimes the internet would not be working. Not a lot, but enough to irritate me.
- Francesca (2/5): Overall l will never stay at such a place like that again, l actually checked out after staying there for 2 days. I did - Nothing The room had a strange smell to it. Breakfast was suboptimal. There was no hot water for bathing, broken furniture in the room. Also l hated the fact that they charged more than stated in my booking.com website. My quote fare from booking.com website was £272.00. They charged me £290.00.
- Edoyessi (3/5): Could be better with a few fixes - Breakfast was simple. Not bad. The staff very good and professional. The bathroom was clean but the plombing was atrocious. the bathroom door was broken. The bed not stable. One bright light in the room. Not pleasant at all
- Syster (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bilty (6/5): It was ok - friendly and helpful staff
Room was ok Breakfast was poor- nothing left out and a very small omlette when requested- I didnt bother after the first day
the swimming pool was green- a positive health hazard!
- Nosakhare (9/5): Superb -
- Raoubil (6/5): Pleasant -
- Syster (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (7/5): Good - Location was excellent, like the compound.
- Mike (10/5): Hidden gem, great value for the money - In a quiet neighborhood, close to all attractions but away from street noise
Boutique hotel, but well equipped Limited menu selection
- Adu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): - Neat pool and compound
- Richard (8/5): - Broken toilet seat was not changed during my entire stay though l reported on day one. It’s crazy to charge $40 for transportation to the airport. It should be free and complimentary. Compound was clean, staff very friendly and respectful, good ambiance and neat pool.
- Raoubil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ogunyemi (5/5): I would try another place next time and hope for better luck. - Very nice staff. Especially front desk lady and some housekeeping staff. Broken furniture, water was leaking out of the AC and nothing was down to fix it, the fridge didn't really cool.
The only toiletries are shower gel...
Breakfast was basic, rationing of milk, no water to go with breakfast... A number of details were just not good enough for a 3 star hotel.
The location is quiet but nobody knows where it is, you can only find it with a map.
- Suraj (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (5/5): Passable - The room was big and neat The breakfast was poor, we only had little to eat
- Ofori-amponsah (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (7/5): Good spot away from the centre - Room size and attentiveness of the cleaners. Dinner was also very reasonably priced and enjoyable. Staff did not show me the facilities or where everything was and what was available at the hotel.
- Ayigah (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were courteous and very helpful. The facility was clean, lovely decor, very comfortable bed and furniture, and services completely meeting my needs. I will surely stay there again. I loved everything about the hotel.
- Bridget (7/5): The stay at Charleston hotel was okay. - The location is quiet and serene. The room was clean and conducive. The surrounding is beautiful. The staff were very helpful and responsive. The location is not exactly central. The lighting in the room could be brighter, faulty bulbs should be replaced asap. The breakfast menu could have less carbs and more protein. Juices offered were not fresh and tasted fermented. Food should be kept warm irrespective of when you come for breakfast. The cost of room service was ridiculous.
- Afful-eshun (8/5): Very good -
- Mohan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lurline (8/5): - The property is small, quiet and staff is polite, helpful and friendly. The room lacked a microwave however the staff helped to warm stuff. They should improve offerings for breakfast.
- Akin (6/5): Ok - Amiable staff Rates better at hotel; curiously the rates higher on booking.com, and they wont upgrade on site despite visible higher fees charged on booking.com
- Jonas (7/5): Good -
- Elena (9/5): It was nice to stay at the Charleston Hotel!. Of I come back to Accra, I will choose it again! - Hotel and room very clean. Small but pleasant outdoor swimming pool. Good food. Very helpful staff. Mattress too soft
- Ama (7/5): Good -
- NADINE (8/5): - I had a restful stay at the Charleston Hotel. The staff is polite, welcoming and helpful. The cleaning ladies are all friendly and always ready to help. The only thing I was disappointed with is the fridge malfunctioning for a day and half, spoiling half of my goods. I would still stay there next time as one incident should not determine how the next stay will be like. Thanks again for having me :)
- Raziul (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Its a good place to stay
- Oliver (9/5): Great value for the price - Friendly staff; Clean rooms; clean facilities; comfort.
- Kwasi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samir (8/5): Very good -
- Jeffrey (8/5): Very good -
- Eddy-grace (8/5): Good - Good place
- Eddy-grace (7/5): Good - Acceptable room.
- Karen (10/5): Excellent / Almost perfect.. I’ll be lodging in your property when ever I visit Ghana again - The rooms were clean and well planned , WiFi netwrk strong, break fast nice and lastly the property location I’m not sure
- Baffour (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (5/5): Passable - the breakfast is very poor
- Aboflan (7/5): Good -
- Jan (8/5): Very good -
- Lucy (4/5): Worst hotel stay ever !! - I can’t believe this hotel is on Hotel.com. This hotel is in a. Wet poor condition . The bedroom we were given on arrival was disgraceful. We asked to be moved to another . No great improvement .
- Lewis (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Elegant and very feature packed hotel in a nice, quiet neighbourhood. - Absolutely everything. I needed to get away for a while. I decided at the last minute and made the reservation. The staff was very accommodating and very helpful getting me sorted out with the room, with a late meal and even let me swim all night. The pool is small, but well attended and enough for a hotel of that size (next door is the Tesano sports club for those that might want a larger pool or some other recreation)
- Alesha (8/5): The front desk staff was hit or miss. The male staff was considered and consistent. The cleaning and laundry services we - The chef cooked fresh meals. The food was delicious! Wish there were more options. I have enjoyed my stay and the security was superb. I felt safe and secured.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Shana (6/5): Good for 1 or 2 nights, with low expectations. - Breakfast is included, however very basic and the same everyday. The hotel is dated, and lacks amenities. The staff are friendly. The location is about 30 mins from main attractions. I checked out of my reservation early and stayed elsewhere. The bathrooms have showers that are extremely difficult to get in & out of, because the bathtub wall is so high. Face clothes, soap, lotion, robe not provided. Some rooms have that musty smell and after leaving AC on for hours, doesn’t go away.
- Jay (5/5): Passable -
- Patricia (8/5): - Loved the glass block shower room. Plenty of hot water and shower head worked great. Room clean, sheets clean and crisp, bed comfortable.
- FREDRICK (10/5): Quiet location at the Charleston Hotel 🏨 - The Charleston Hotel in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭🌍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This review is a little late we stayed at the Charleston Hotel 🏨 from November 23rd through the 25th of 2023. This is a nice quiet hotel in a good quiet neighborhood to the west of the city. The bed in the room was very comfortable 👍 The bathroom was clean and in very good order. During our stay we stayed in three different hotels for 16 days total. To be truthfully honest. This hotel I probably wish I could have stayed the whole time that I was in Ghana 🇬🇭🌍. The staff is very friendly and focused. The area is clean and well kept. I felt safe and secure at this location. This is definitely one of my future hotels I will be revisiting next year.
- Ancella (8/5): Nice - Staff was super friendly and always helpful. Inside is quite dark, which I understand (keepint the sun out helps against the heat), but it doesn't make me feel comfortable. Also, most furniture and amenities look quite ok, but are actually not of great quality. I know this is the case for many hotels in this price range, so it's not to speak badly of the hotel.
- Deola (7/5): It was a good stay. - The location of the hotel was very quiet and peaceful.
If your aim is to stay away from the noise of the city, then its the place for you. Breakfast was nice but it could be better. We had limited options
Dinner time was the same. The restaurant didn't have everything on their menu.
- Richard (10/5): - Very nice place to stay. Staff are very professional
- Jessica (2/5): - This was my absolute worst experience at a hotel! When I left my room for breakfast the very first night we stayed at the hotel, the hotel cleaning staff member stole $100 from my purse. When I returned to my room, the $100 was missing! After reporting it to management, they did nothing about it, but continually ignored us and our inquiries. The next morning, we could hear the hotel staff member who stole the money from my purse, talking negatively about us right outside our rooms with no consequences for the theft! There were bed bugs in our bed so we suffered bites and burns all throughout the night from the bed bug bites. When my spouse pulled the mattress back, he saw numerous bed bugs and their eggs. There were tons of mosquitos in our rooms each night due to the hotel keeping a door open in the common area near our room. We never sleeper each night due to continuous itching and bed bugs and mosquitoes, we had to repeatedly complain to the manager and multiple staff who lied about being the manager in order to cancel our stay there after three horrible days of torture. Worst experience ever. We will never go back again.
- Barnabas (10/5): - Great staff. Nice location. I will stay here again.
- Patricia (8/5): - Very comfortable bed, crisp clean linens, big bathmat, clean fresh smelling bath towels and a hand towel. Working fridge. However the wall had a glassblock square the size of a window, facing the bed. In the hall outside this glassblock window a ceiling light burned all night. Right in the eyes of someone lying on the bed. Very annoying. Also the toilet seat was not bolted to the commode, which was occasion for quite a surprise, and the hand held shower wall holder was broken. Breakfast is OK, but some fresh fruit or juice would be nice. But staff are helpful and friendly, and the price is right. For 1 night, it is pleasant. The bed with excellent back support and clean bedding is the main attraction. The room was clean, clean floors, clean fridge, clean sink and shower. But the window coverings were a bit dusty. The restaurant menu was large, and the food we ordered was good, with large portions. But my noodles with chicken and vegetables had to be ordered twice, as they sent it spiked with red pepper, even tough I told the waiter NO PEPPER of any kind. The second no pepper order came out quickly and was very tasty, fresh and well cooked, no raw chicken and the vegetables were al dente, as was the pasta. It is the infrastructure that made me downgrade. This is not the first time I have stayed here, on the way from airport to home in Cape Coast. I will stay here again. The price was right.
- LaNita (8/5): - Never staying in a hotel in Ghana, this one was perfectly located for what I wanted and the staff was friendly and helpful. Having the dining room was a huge, because finding restaurants in Ghana is not like finding them in some countries. It is also located in a nice neighbor where I felt safe to walk.
- Costa (8/5): - Well this hotel is located in a rich neighborhood. I did my review on video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9RQu4zxzhc
- Kwadwo (4/5): - Showers broken in 2 rooms. Toilet leaking.
- Kwadwo (8/5): - Very comfortable.
- Romney (6/5): - The property is accurately pictured when it comes to the building and public spaces. The receptionist was cordial during check in. There is no elevator but someone did bring my suitcase up to the third floor. There is no air conditioning in the hallways but you have it in your room activated by hotel key. Continental breakfast was available: pineapple juice, coffee, white bread slices, boiled eggs and sausage/hotdog. I was unable to secure bottled water while at the property. No after hours services are available. The hotel room was clean. A great plus was the power strip in the room that provided an outlet for all plug variations.
- Kanil (6/5): Stressing. - Stressing. Small room. Terrible attendance.
- Craig (6/5): ok - very hard to find in the dark. fully booked when I arrived so they sent me to their sister hotel which was fine. next morning had a call at 7 saying I had to go back to the Charleston to pay. not very convenient but they sent a car. kind receptionist very helpful.
- GEORGE (2/5): Total Disaster - A complete disaster. Hotel was clean, very unsafe neighborhood, over priced, non-existent WiFi, non-existent hot water, lights not operateble, food was just fair, uncomfortable foam beds. Air Conditioner leaked huge amounts of water on and in my computer. Would never stay there ever.
- Joyce (8/5): Welcoming and helpful staff - Charleston Hotel staff made me feel welcome, amid their busy week of conferences and a full-house of guests. All staff were attentive to serving food and drink soon after sitting down at a table by the pool, bar and restaurant. It is a pity that they did not have the ingredients to all menu items at first but they accommodated my repeated request and eventually bought in the ingredients and drinks to make me a happy customer. Given my busy work schedule, where I wanted home comforts at the end of the day, this gesture was most appreciated. All guests are given wifi access for two devices (to maintain good bandwidth for all guests to use) but travellers who come with laptop, 2 mobile phones and a tablet can simply ask to increase this restriction to however many devices they need to connect to the wifi. Don't feel afraid to ask; the hotel will accommodate your needs. Charleston hotel is well presented and feels like an oasis amide a quiet residential area. It is also within easy access to the centre of Accra (access to Uber taxis will greatly facilitate your travel needs). My favourite thing to do after a day of work was take a dip in the pool (even after sunset), shower and then sit on the balcony areas working through emails, where I experienced a nice evening breeze. The reception and management staff were friendly and did their utmost to make me feel happy. I would not hesitate in choosing this hotel again on my next visit to Accra.
- chari-jaione (10/5): A Great Stay - A very nice clean Hotel the service was excellent, the employees were fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel in fact I would diffently go back.
- chari-jaione (10/5): A Great Experience - It was amazing don't know why it is not rated higher.I would go there again.
- Peter (8/5): comfortable transit stay - Just a one night transit stay. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was neat and clean, bathroom maybe a little small but OK. Restaurant food was tasty (local fish dish). Would stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): visiting family - very nice hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel near the airport - The facilities are very nice, the rooms, grounds, and pool. The staff on the other hand were terrible; they lied about the transportation to and from the airport; they lied about the fact they sent someone to pick me up, after waiting in the hot sun for about 15 minutes in the hot sun I took a taxi. The restaurant food was very mediocre. They said they took American Express but the front desk clerk did not know how to run it,
- veronica (10/5): Wonderful customer service! - Our stay was quite nice the staff was always helpful and available.
- sandra (10/5): Boutique hotel like home - Excellent stay, good food, relaxed friendly atmosphere. I will stay here again without hesitation,
- Verified traveler (8/5): Prima hotel, zwembad is klein.
- Prima hotel. Ontbijt is sober.
- Auntie Aku (8/5): Clean sheets and towels, extra pillows on request - The outside appearance of the hotel is pleasing, with tall columns clad in flat stone rectangles in sandy colors. The same stone is used as an accent inside as well. The pool area is nice for dining at night or having drinks. The restaurant gets it right when I ask for something to be made with No Pepper and Not Spicey. The food is good, the chicken and beef kebobs with a honey marinade are really good, tender and well grilled with pieces of onion and green pepper on the skewers.
The room is clean and everything works. This includes bedside reading lights, which is amazing to me as many hotels have lamps by the bed, with no outlet or the plug does not fit the socket or the bulb is burnt out. This hotel is managed by people who understand the idea of reading in bed!
The breakfast buffet (included) is good, with fresh toast, eggs, coffee, Milo, tea, juices, fresh fruit, dry cereals, porridge, and you serve yourself.
This is the 3rd time I have stayed here, and I will probably stay here again. The staff in the dining room at night are a bit slow, but everyone is friendly. The front desk staff are efficient and pleasant. I like this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable hotel, outside the centre - The hotel is kept very clean and the staff are particularly helpful. I was allowed to check out late (due to a delayed flight) and the staff accommodated my need to interview a colleague in a quiet space, prepared a papaya that I brought back after a day out in the city and even prepared breakfast for me when I arrived late. The restaurant is good, without being exceptional, and the service was very courteous and professional.
- Brian (10/5): A very nice hotel and accessible to all amenities - I was really pleased with the attitude of the staff and the facilities were as I expected. The staff did everything to make my stay enjoyable and I will be happy to use the hotel in the future
- Osunga Ogundo (6/5): Short stay at Charleston - The location of the facility does not make it ideal as most cab drivers I used had difficulties tracing their way
- vicki (6/5): Nice hotel, friendly staff and affordable food. - Good
- Carole (2/5): The worst hotel ever! - The bath wasn't draining water, the toilet wasn't flushing properly, the towels were worse for wear. The bed sheets were dirty. There are no lifts. I couldn't wait to leave. The airport shuttle driver was very unhelpful and couldn't help with the suitcases while I had to struggle with that and 3 kids.
