Guest Reviews
- Billie (10/5): - Beautiful property!
- Johel (10/5): - The way everything is constructed in the middle of a jungle with artificial water falls, etc. Its a dream place
- Laurence (10/5): - We recently got back from a 6 week trip to Thailand and Cambodia. The Burn Resort, just outside Chiang Rai, stood out as the nicest place we stayed in Northern Thailand. It is an absolute hidden gem! We stayed a couple nights at another hotel in Chiang Rai proper (convenient but meh) and then a couple nights here and so glad we did! Our villa and the grounds are gorgeous! The staff and the food were wonderful. It is a bit out of the way, so not the spot if you are short on time and want to walk to the markets and restaurants. But they are happy to help you set up day trips to the many sights in the area. Highly recommended!
- Holly Nicole (10/5): - We were stunned at the beauty of the property; how huge the room, bathroom, shower, and tub were; and the lovely staff and breakfast. Being a bit outside of town was very pretty and relaxing but still convenient (with a car). Unbelievable experience, particularly for they price!
- Katharine (10/5): - Beautiful, spacious room with balcony, great breakfasts, nice nature walks. We thought the pool could have been cleaner.
- Stanley (10/5): - If you're looking for a connection with nature and lovely accommodating staff you'll find it here. This is not the place to be if you like the hustle and bustle of a big city. We arrived here after a week in Bangkok and it was just what we needed! Staff arranged a local driver to take us to outlying Wats that are beautiful, to a pottery shop, coffee farms, etc. everyone we encountered we're most gracious.... wonderful stay!
- Jennifer (10/5): Super romantic!! Or just a nice big space - Ok this place is super romantic although I was there with my adult daughter we both agreed it’s a fantastic honey moon spot. Trust me!
- carmen (10/5): - Nui is an excellent host, she goes above and beyond your expectations with transportation needs and anything else you may need. Food is excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was excellent. Food was excellent. Property was beautiful and clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Kris (10/5): - This was my favorite resort stay ever. The staff was amazingly helpful and sweet. Bura is a magical paradise, well suited for connecting with nature. The craftsmanship of the room was inspiring and the restuarant served us delicious thai food. We walked to the waterfall within 15 minutes, and it is still close to the airport and town. I would highly recommend the deluxe room for honeymooners.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Natural. No frills beauty.
No fickle traveler type accomodation but true blue relaxing in the natural beauty of northern thailand.
Absolutely loved the place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is in the mountains. You will definitely connect with nature. The staff was amazing. I find the staff here to be the nicest. They will go out of their ways to help you. They left me with good memories for the rest of my life. Life changing experience and I will be back. Hanna was my translator and she was a huge help to me on my solo trip to Thailand.
- kim (10/5): - Quiet location , rooms spacious, staff very friendly n helpful, food also nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was absolutely wonderful. The location was great to get out of the busy city. The staff was beyond friendly—they make you feel like houseguests and make sure you know how to get to all the local spots (market, temples, hot springs), and they even drive you! The grounds are immaculate. We can’t recommend Bura enough
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staffs are more than friendly. Room is so spacious. The atmosphere is also superb and best for those who need a good rest.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location and villas are amazing but what really makes this resort unique is the amazing staff. A big thankyou to all of them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutley tranquil surroundings and food was divine
- michel (10/5): Perfect place to relax - We stopped for a couple of days to relax before the second part of our trip to Thailand.
Bura resort is quiet, nestled in a beautiful garden. The staff is extremely nice and attentive and the food is great.
We would go back without hesitation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing Special Place - We had read some hotel reviews before booking so we had a feeling it was a nice place to stay but we were still overwhelmed by what an amazing place The Bura is and how welcome the owners and staff make you feel. We were picked up from the airport by the owners, which we arranged by email through Hotels.com.
The resort is a little out of the way but this is part of its charm and it is a beautiful tranquil location with amazing landscaping. The staff are all really friendly but not intrusive and they really went out of their way to help me with things like finding a laundry service (and taking me there and back). Taking me to buy a birthday cake for our friend, showing me the local market and booking massages for us at the nearby hot springs. They helped us with our transport arrangements, whether it was finding us a driver to take us to all the popular sites in the area or arranging taxis to pick us up from Chiang Rai Town when we visited there. They wrote directions to the Bura in Thai and gave us the resort's number in case we had any problems getting back. The accomodation is lovely and clean and very spacious. The breakfast menu is smaller than in some hotels but very tasty and makes a nice change from wasteful buffets in some hotels. The lunch and dinner menu was extensive and reasonably priced and we chose to come back and eat at the Bura most evenings because it is lovely eating out in the open air there. It really is a wonderful piece of paradise.
- Chun seng (10/5): Best resort in Chiang Rai - This place is a steal. Only 8 villas on a beautiful lay out landscape and waterfalls. Villas are generous in size with huge bath room. Breakfast was good, choice of western or Thai and you can order more if you want. We have dinner here for 2 nights as the food was excellent and reasonable price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Personal waterfalls. Frog serenades. Amazing service. Incredible bathroom with giant soaking tub plus two showers. Great food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful, unique, great beds! One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Out of town, a little hard to get to, but totally worth it
- Judy (10/5): Escape to Paradise. - A beautiful resort away from the city. The villas were so beautiful and large. The shower and soaker tub was a real treat. Loved sitting on my private deck overlooking ponds and waterfalls and drifting off to sleep with the sounds of the jungle. The food was delicious and the staff were all very lovely. I highly recommend this beautiful resort if you want to make an escape to paradise.
One thing to note is the WiFi was terrible. Hopefully they address that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful artistic location in the countryside. The staff offers free rides to places like Hot Springs etc. Great place to be. Relaxing...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bad location, very difficult to get, you will never to find in the night, cannot contact anybody to find out where is the resort,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Last minute booking which exceeded our expectations. Really nice place and super friendly staff. Well recommended.
- Wu (10/5): 5 stars service! - Service was impeccable. Despite being busy at times, the resort hosts really extended their hospitality by offering to pick us to areas we wanted to go, be it to the hot spring or dining place. Gave ua a free upgrade of room to make it easier for my dad with a walking stick. The place was serene, perfect for a good getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. For this kind of service, I would rate them 5 stars. They are truly deserving. Keep it up!
- David (10/5): Excellent Stay with Hannah and friends - Fantastic, amazing place. Hannah was so helpful, a real delight. I would love to employ her in one of my establishments.
The room was fantastic l would recommend it to any one. The staff were lovely and made the stay memorable. Only one thing, the breakfast did not come up to the same high standard as the accommodation, sort of Hilton with a roadside little chef shame.
- Omar (10/5): Other hotels, learn from Bura Resort staf kindness - What great and kind hosts! I wish people from the hotel and hospitality industry can learn from the staff of Bura Resort how they can genuinely be kind to guests even when they have been working all day long they still find it in them to be kind to their guests. Fantastic hotel, place, staff, rooms, ambiance, scenery and nature.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed the jungle like setting of The Resort. The landscaping and the buildings were unique in appearance. The staff were very helpful in arranging a tour. Also very friendly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced
- Mike (8/5): Great Little Resort, Beautiful Rooms - This is a small resort that has been carefully designed to complement the natural beauty of the location. The only suggestion to make is that it needs better signage for customers' first arrival, as it is quite remote.
- Jeannine (10/5): Wonderful experience - Hannah is extremely helpful. Jazz and his wife are helpful and sweet. Resort is peaceful and beautiful. Outside of the main part of Chiang Rai, but worth the experience. Great value. Staff really wanted to ensure you were taken care of.
- nick (10/5): - I been to Thailand for 25 years, this was the best hotel I ever stayed in.Hannah the housekeeper was so kind and helpful. If you come here you will have a special time.
- David (10/5): Great place - Great place to stay. Large rooms in a fantastic garden area with man made waterfalls. Full of character in there outside design. It is not in the town centre so it is peaceful and quiet. Service from Jazz and his staff was very good.
- Eric (10/5): Isolated Splendor - Our experience was wonderful. This was unlike any other "hotel" that I've staying in previously. There are roughly a dozen stand-alone villas spread out on a hillside that make up this property. The grounds are beautiful with streams, water-falls and gorgeous landscaping everywhere. Each villa is unique and isolated. The restaurant is basic, but served very good local cuisine. If you want to experience the outdoors in northern Thailand in a very comfortable setting, then the Bura Resort is an excellent choice.
As an example, the staff warned us about hearing signing in the distance late at night. Apparently, the local hill people like to celebrate the new year by signing late into the evening. We were able to hear this, even over all of the croaking frogs!
In particular, we enjoyed Hannah. Hannah was the on-site manager and was unbelievably helpful. When I needed to get some supplies from the local store, she gladly drove me into town. When I needed help arranging transportation to the balloon festival, she was wonderfully helpful in securing a dedicated driver for us. She also introduced us to a local coffee shop and drove us to and from the local hot spring.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Jazz and Hana are awesome people who will go out of their way to make you happy. I thoroughly recommend their place
- Jess (10/5): Incredible place to stay - It was the second time that I have stayed in this resort. It takes about 15 minutes drive from the city. The room and environment are good for relaxing and chilling. Definitely one of the great places to stay in Chiangrai with an affordable price!
- Sandra (8/5): Mountain retreat - Great mountain setting. Quiet and serene. Was untypically cold during our stay and the place has no heat, whether in rooms or restaurant, so quite uncomfortable. Great service though staff does not speak any English.
- Michael (8/5): - Fabulous rooms
Let down by no-one around to assist with questions
WiFi was atrocious very poor strength (sorry resort is full!!!! What? You only have half a dozen rooms!!)
As I said
Great rooms but no way 4 Star
- Ana (10/5): Beautiful place, peaceful and full of nature. - This place is beautiful, well maintained and surrounded by nature. The room was hugue, with a living room, small fridge, wooden floors (beware if you have slippery socks!) Breakfast is very good, and all the people a super noce. Although is 30 minutes away from the city center is ideal if you want to have a romantic trip, since it is near a nice waterfall, hotsprings and a local market. Hannah was wonderful, she arranged a lady driver for the whole day and we had time to visit the white temple, the blue temple, black house, tea plantation, and a big waterfal that takes 30 to 45 minutes to get there and another back. It was great. They can pick you up from the bus station and back. The owner himself took us to the bus station on our way to Chiang Mai, really very nice people. Great place, lovely, would come back again but with boyfriend LOL.
- Dominique (8/5): Great place to relax and disconnect - Incredible landscaping. Waterfall effects make you feel in another world
- Disappointed (4/5): NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY - We booked two rooms for two nights. I made it clear that my father was handicapped and could not use stairs.
Even phoned them three days before we arrived, to remind them, they said no problem.
We arrived and they gave him a room on THREE LEVELS with lots of stairs.
Our room was the same.
They said they couldn't move him as they were full.
They said they had people checking out the next day so they could move us then.
Next day I asked to be moved, but was told the manager would not allow it!!!!
It was very clear that they were catering for Chinese visitors.
Everyone else is a third class citizen.
If you are Chinese, go there, if not, re-think...
Lots of man-made waterfalls, but to us, it was more Disneyland than Thailand.
Breakfast served cold both days.
- Josh (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely beautiful grounds. Free shuttle to and from bus terminal - wish we knew about this on the way in! We hired a driver through the hotel which cost 2000 baht for 8 hours which was a very good way to see the major sights within a single day.
There was no Wifi in our room despite this being advertised on Wotif. When I enquired about this I was told it was because the signal could not reach our room. I think they should put a signal extender or another router in the room if this is the case.
There is a cooked breakfast set menu with 3 Western and 3 Thai options with no vegetarian options. We had to have jam on white toast and a plate of fruit which was nice but not quite filling.
- Joy Joy (10/5): Beautiful resort - The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay and food is good too! A beautiful
resort not to be missed and the staff will standby themselves at the airport to pick us up. My friend and I booked a tour package from other agency for the following day and knowing that we will miss the breakfast, the staff, Hanna specially went to prepare and pack some light snack for us to bring along although we did not book the tour package from them. Thank you very much the warm welcome and excellent service. 👍😃
- Amy (10/5): Hidden Gem! - This place was fantastic! We loved the vibe and the views were incredible. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Wish we had more time to stay but our one night was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel , away from it all - A wonderful relaxing hotel, very relaxing, ideal for honeymoon couples or those wanting a romantic get away .
Still they can arrange very good guides if you want to tour the Chiang Rai area for very reasonable prices .
You really fo feel you are next to nature at its most charming
- Tanny (10/5): Perfect spot - This resort is the heaven on earth! This was our second time here. Still loving it!
The service is great, the room is perfect. Spacious and clean. Also very quiet, feel the nature.
Only the food that can be improved.
- Marcel (10/5): Amazing place with friendly staff - The Bura Resort is an outstanding hotel. The architecture and layout of this place is superb. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a beautiful room with a large deck and our own waterfall. The restaurant was superb and the attention to detail was appreciated. If you are in this area, you must stay here. I have been in many places and few are comparable to this. Good value and great vibe.
- mia (10/5): Above and beyond amazing - I can not say enough good things about this resort. For starters pictures do not do it justice. The gardens are incredible and just walking around with all the waterfalls is super relaxing. the room was amazing. Huge bathroom, very comfortable king bed and lounge room as well. It is a bit of a distance from Chiang rai but well worth it. You can organise to be picked up and dropped off To the city or the airport. The staff went above and beyond what was expected of them. The internet in our room wasn't working vety well because of the distance so they organised our own little portable wifi in our room. Jazz (the manager) also drove us to the nearby hot springs and gave us a mobile phone with his number to call him when we wanted to be picked up. He also organised a private driver to take us to all the things we wanted to do on one of our days there. On the morning we left we had an early flight out so they opened the kitchen early for us to have breakfast. This place is absolutely amazing and I would recommend staying here.
- Don (8/5): Very good staff, restaurant was better than expect - Enjoyed the stay, aa bit far from the destinations we went to but it sure was relaxing and very pretty grounds
- Bradley (10/5): Very nice place with great staff - Amazing place, if just a bit hard to get to, would love to stay again and for longer
- Nicole (10/5): Beautiful hotel, quiet, unusual and comfortable - A beautiful property, although we reserved last minute and they did not seem to know we were coming.
It was low key and quiet and the cottages are absolutely gorgeous and comfortable.
Restaurant was good, excellent soup.
The only thing a little odd was how there was no real management presence. Staff were able to help out with transportation and arranging tours, but it just seemed a little abandoned. There were others staying at the property, but we never saw anyone.
Not a real complaint, just a little unusual. It was really a beautiful place, and extremely nice and comfortable living space in lovely surroundings. I guess we just expected the presence of owners, managers, and other travelers. All of our needs were met when we went out of our way to inquire, but there was not even a book in the room with hotel or local information or options for sightseeing. No wifi in the room to help search for info.
There was supposed to be free shuttle to and from airport, but we were not able to find a way to contact the hotel before we arrived and they were surprised by our arrival and not able to find our recently made reservation. I had to show it to them on my phone.
All worked out fine and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff that were present were pleasant and the property looked like it was kept up well, although it was clearly an off time to visit. We enjoyed the beautiful view from our room.
Transport to the airport at the end of our stay was free.
- Peeranut (10/5): Great place to getaway - Bura resort was very nicce and quiet, service was great from started til checked out. very zen and artistic on the outside. I highly recommend this resort for everyone who looking to get away from craziness city life to a quiet and peaceful water fall front porch. I even got an upgraded room. this place could easily cost $300 plus a night in USA
- m (10/5): Beautiful, quiet, a good place to rest. - The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Loved being there.
- Ashley (10/5): N8ce andxquiet - A gem of a place. Beautiful location with stunning view. Nice grounds to walk in. Very relaxing. First class thai food and the staff were very welcoming.
- Kay (10/5): Quiet place to stay with beautiful surroundings - Relaxable vacation here with beautiful and peaceful surroundings/Friendly & smilely staffs/Roomy & comfortable room with good decoration and big bathroom/ Good foods and restaurant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden gem in the jungle - This place is somebody's baby, it's very clear in the craftsmanship from the bungalows to the water features throughout the grounds. Although it's pretty hard to find, the remote location is part of its charm. The staff were very helpful and polite, the rooms are GORGEOUS, mad props to whoever the architect/designer was. Each bungalow has a master control panel by the bed that controls lights, has times for all the timezones, etc. it was very neat. Only had two complaints: the beds could have been a bit comfier, and we found the dinner to be sub-par for the price. Otherwise an outstanding resort.
- Bret (10/5): Amazing all around. (Note local weather in April) - Amazing hotel and property with outstanding service! Hannah took the best care of us and took us around as needed. She even showed up at the waterfall when it started raining, thinking we might want a ride back, but we were thrilled for the short rain on a hot day! The rooms are huge and so beautiful, and the grounds are immaculate. All the staff was literally sprinting around to help us whenever they saw us leave our room!
Note - Only downside of our stay was the timing. Our trip in April was (as expected for the season) very hot and hazy. Waterfalls were not running on the property due to heat, nor was the local waterfall that we hiked to nearby simply because there wasn't water. Absolutely no fault of the hotel - just a fair notice to anyone else thinking of heading this way in the dry heat of summer.
- Carrie (10/5): Oasis just outside of Chiang Rai! - This place was AMAZING! First we arrived around 9:30pm and Hannah was so fantastic! She said they thought we might be hungry and that her boss (the owner, Jess) would take us into town to get something to eat if we would like since their restaurant closes at 8:30pm. Sure enough he not only rushes to take our bags to our room, but took us to get some snacks and beer at the store! The next morning she gave us directions to walk to the waterfall and ensured us if we needed a ride she or Jess would give one, along with a cell phone that has pre-programmed #'s to get ahold of them or a cab. Hannah also made message reservations for us at the hot springs and took us there as well as picked us up after our massage the next day! Can who works the restaurant for all three meals was fantastic! We ordered a bottle of wine for our room and instead of handing it to my husband, insisted on walking it down to our beautiful bungalow. The grounds and bungalows at this resort are so beautiful, and Jess could not find better people to work for him! The level of service that they all provide is hands down the best we have had in Thailand! As for the distance outside of town it can be a bit tricky to find a cab that knows where it is, so if you get one to take you out there get his card and use the cell phone they give you to call him when you are ready! Thank you Jess, Hannah, and Can!
- Alton (10/5): AMAZING! - Wow! The most beautiful, relaxing, stunning, comfortable place on earth!
The food was amazing. The staff was so kind. I will return someday, and refer ANYONE I know traveling to Chiang Rai that this is the place they must stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The nicest place with the nicest staff.
Staff and owner took us around town and showed us a great time :)
- aujima (10/5): nice experience - I loved it a lot..very nice scenery, awesome room and atmosphere. I will surely stay here next time.
- Michael (8/5): Nature surroundings, peaceful with very good Thai - Once our driver found the place we were captivated by the warm feel of nature all around us. The architecture is pleasing and comfortable, well-built. We loved the Cottage, obviously built by an experienced architect. To our surprise the chef and his helper prepared a Thai feast, country-style with amazing, tasty dishes including a Tom Ka soup, salad with minced pork, sausages from the north, all spicy. This was our best meal in Thai for a long time. Staff were few but enthusiastic, they were young and helpful. This is the perfect place to breathe in the fresh air and get away from the big city.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay !! - Great experiences at Bura, it was fantastic stay during the periods, although a little far from city. for those like natural and quiet place so this is the one you would like to choose.
- Jonno1969 (10/5): Superb value for money - If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Chaing Rai that is peaceful and relaxing, look no further than Bura Resort. About 20 minutes drive from the airport and the town centre, nestled up on a quiet hillside overlooking the town in the distance, the setting is perfect. The gardens have been landscaped imaginatively and creatively making the most of the adjacent stream, creating artificial waterfalls, cascades, streams and ponds throughout the resort. For trips out, the owner Jazz provided a mobile phone with emergency contact numbers if we ever needed assistance, personal transfers to the night market and the airport and the staff were always on hand to negotiate fair prices for taxi rides/day trips if required. Restaurant food was good. One possible downside for some might be the lack of a swimming pool, but then that's not important for everyone.
- Ping (8/5): Fantastic service!! - Really enjoy, nice place with natural!!
