DaShanti (2/5): 2/5 Would not return to this hotel. - The room had nice kitchen amenities, full size fridge, sink, and a mini stove top. The room smelled awful, had a terrible stench. Smelt like old mildew. I sprayed an entire aerosol can of odor eliminator and still couldn’t get rid of the smell. The pillow cases, sheets, and covers smelt like mildew, had to buy my own sheets to just to feel somewhat comfortable sleeping on the bed (which was very uncomfortable). The room also felt very moist, not sure if it was from the AC until inside the room but just felt very sticky. There also seemed to be no AC throughout the building, maybe on the first floor but on the third floor it was very hot and muggy as well as in the elevators. Lastly I spotted a small cockroach in the bathroom. Safe to say, I was not very pleased to stay in the hotel & I will not be returning.

Runyon (6/5): Decent room for value - 1.We did not eat breakfast while there. 2.It was within walking distance of the restaurants we ate at every evening. 3.Good value 1.The TV had sound but no picture. 2.The mattress had a big dip in the middle. 3.There was alot of noise from running in. hallway and upstairs room above us. 4.I didnt receive an itemized statement when I checked out a day early. 5.When I checked out I asked about the refund for the last day and I was informed since I booked through Bookin.com I'd have to email them for a refund. 6.Motel had a musty smell 7.I reserved a King room but was told when I checked in they didnt have 1, but they could accommodate me the next day with a king because it was Thanksgiving day and there wasnt any housekeeping working. 8.Everytime the room above us flushed the toilet it sounded like our room was going to flood due to loud sound of water going down drain.

Nicole (5/5): We’re not a picky lot, so this met our needs for a single night, but I wouldn’t want to stay again. - The property was a fairly decent price and in a convenient spot for where we needed to be. The sheets had burn holes in them and the sink was coming apart. The room and bathroom weren’t exactly clean.

kevinpZ1271AM (2/5): Look elsewhere - Room 313 still not clean after 2 years. Mark S provided a review in June 2023. That water spot in the tub is still there but this visit also included a puddle of rusty water. Walls looked damaged by water. The room smelled musty. The room did have a new refrigerator but the doors are on the wrong side. Brought concerns to the front desk and the three people behind conversing did nothing. One woman who was not working front desk did say they were working to get the doors reversed. If it's like the room the refrigerator fix would happen once it dies. The sanitation score was a 94 it should be 100. They are serving coffee and have snacks nearby to purchase. How hard is that to be clean? Cleanliness and customer service are not a priority. Can't fix issues after more than 2 years?!?! I question the integrity of these 4 and 5 star reviews that they visited this place. Spend the money and go somewhere else. Your health is worth it.

CATHERINE (8/5): - I have reached the age and physical condition where I now have issues with balance and such. The toilet was so low to the floor that it was difficult for me. Also, the tub bottom was slippery and grab bar at least on the back wall would have saved me a lot of stress especially getting out, the tub wall was high.

Tanya (8/5): Typically a great stay at a reasonable rate. - I like the location, staff, cleaniness, and all the features of the room. It is a very nice set up for extended stays as well as over night. Very clean well thought out room set up. I did not like the bed. The room I stayed in feels like the head of the bed is lower than the foot of the bed. I will definitely request another room for my next stay. The pillows did not help with the situation.
Murray (3/5): This property needs a deep cleaning and an expectation of cleanliness for their cleaning crew. I would not stay here aga - The staff was friendly. When we arrived the first night, floors of the room were filthy. Our shoes stuck to floor when we walked. I asked for a mop and clean water. The desk clerk provided me with my request. After the first cleaning, the water was black. I asked for an additional clean mop and water along with spray cleaner for the room surfaces. I mopped again and then cleaned the entire room before going to bed. We arrived late after a 13hr trip and it was an additional 2 hrs to my day cleaning. The next day, I received a call from the manager apologizing and an offer of another room. I will add, I asked for a room change upon arrival and was told no. At this point, I declined the room change, because I knew this one was at least cleaned for my standard. No offer of any reimbursement was offered other than “free beer”. I declined this offer as well. I would have changed hotels but our son was coming to visit from Camp Geiger and we didn’t need that stress added to our short visit. I do want to say that I noticed an increase in cleaning staff and we were treated nicely. I was just astounded at the level of filth upon arrival. We stayed in Jacksonville a couple of weeks later for my son’s Infantry graduation but definitely chose the Holiday Inn Express over Mainstays. The Holiday Inn Express was very clean in comparison to this hotel. I hesitated to write a review but I hope this helps another family to find different accommodations. I only chose this property because my Marine son suggested it. I’m sure he thought it was fine after sleeping in a sleeping bag all week. I guess the most surprising part was the offer of “beer” for compensation of cleaning my own room for 2 hours.

But, I give a low rating because they don’t allow firearms on the premises and nowhere in the description or booking process does it let you know this vital information.I was not aware of their stance until after I had already arrived. If I had known this ahead of time I would have chosen a different location and will definitely choose a different location in the future.
Steve (10/5): No free breakfast - It was a good stay. Stayed for several days and alll was good. They DO NOT have a free breakfast. They tell you to go to Dennys and they will take 10% off your meal. Other than that all was nice

Lady (5/5): Although the room appeared inviting, the bed sinking in the middle made us more tired after driving 6 hours from Atlanta - Nick was very courteous when contacting me to make me aware, that the room I reserved was no longer available, but yet it would be upgraded. Upon check-in, Sarah was very friendly and sociable. Location Cleanliness The Kitchenette There was a dog in the suite beneath us barking frequently - although the signs on the property indicates “ No Pets allowed”. The bed , albeit a pillow top mattress- it was sunken in the middle. ( we did not sleep well.)

Charged 50.00 dollars per dog per day. Was not stated clearly on bookings.com. Maybe subject to fees. Thinking deposit not an actual fee.

I would not stay here again the next time I come to NC because the property is more for extended stay renters not for someone staying a few days. I didn’t think that would make a difference. We had neighbors in the room next to us who are long term residents (we were only here for 2 nights), playing very loud music before 8am on our first morning. The second day they played music very loud at 2am. Whoever was above us had children running back and forth late at night. In my opinion and experience with traveling and staying in different hotels, people staying short term are respectful of others. Long term residents treat the hotel as their home and act more comfortable by not respecting or caring about others by behaving that way. And it wasn’t just the music playing at 2am. There were other things we didn’t like about the property. Trying to get a good night’s rest before our 10 hour drive home did not happen. You get what you pay for.

downtheroad735 (4/5): My mistake - I made the error in choosing this location as it turned out to be over an hour from our true destination of Atlantic Beach/Beaufort/Morehead City. The hotel seems to have become more of a workman's hotel than a tourist hotel. Pretty much everything is worn, not-quite-clean, and in need of upgrade. The quality of the mattress in the room we stayed in is the worst we've ever encountered after years of staying at Choice Hotels. I didn't contact management since these are conditions they had to be well aware of and chose to ignore. We opted to leave as scheduled and find other arrangements rather than extend our stay there.
