Guest Reviews
- Patricia (10/5): - Tout parfait comme d’habitude!!
- VERONIQUE (10/5): -
- Marie (10/5): Perfection has a name. - David set the standard for all accommodations of this type. Small guest house that had a perfect location, outstanding customer service, and adorable resident cat. Nothing. It was perfection.
- Kelly (10/5): Very cute, historical, comfortable and convenient place to stay. - The owner was so friendly and gave us great recommendations. The rooms were so cute and well appointed. We particularly liked the nespresso machine in the mornings, and fresh fruit in the room. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great, close to central station and all of the city center.
- Claire (10/5): Full of character in excellent location - Beautiful property in perfect location. House had real character and facilities in room were excellent. Owners were helpful and friendly.
Could walk to anywhere we wanted to go and only 10 min walk to Centraal Station. Nothing !
- Nigar Canan (10/5): I will miss the birds singing outside the window :) - First of all, I would like to sincerely thank dear David for his kindness and the care he showed to both my daughter and me.
This is a small, traditional Amsterdam house. Its location is incredibly convenient—you never need a car, as everything is within a 5 to 15-minute walking distance.
Every detail in the room has been thoughtfully prepared for your comfort. From the towels to the snacks, everything is exceptionally clean, elegant, and well-organized.
It was truly a wonderful accommodation experience, and I will choose to stay here again without hesitation on every visit to Amsterdam. We had an amazing time.

- Garry (9/5): - Tulip of Amsterdam was a lovely stay. David, the host, was incredibly friendly and even helped carry one of our large suitcases up the steep stairs, which was much appreciated. He was very communicative, reaching out via WhatsApp before we arrived and responding quickly to any questions during our stay. On arrival, he also took the time to share helpful insights about Amsterdam and its different areas.
The room was cosy, with modern heating, plenty of blankets, and a very comfortable and supportive mattress - definitely the highlight. Housekeeping was done daily, which was a nice touch, with the room tidied and coffee and breakfast snacks consistently topped up. Small details like neatly folded toilet paper added a thoughtful touch.
The location is excellent - very central, with most major sights within a 25-minute walk. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Amsterdam Central Station, which was manageable even with two heavy suitcases. There’s also an Albert Heijn supermarket nearby, which was very convenient. The building is quite old and historic, so it’s not suited to those expecting a modern hotel experience. The stairs are very steep and narrow, which can be challenging with luggage. There was also some noise from upstairs guests due to squeaky floorboards, which is expected in an older building but worth noting if you’re a light sleeper.
The bathroom is quite small, though fairly typical for European accommodation.

- Jon Haukur (7/5): Great location in the city center, pleasant host, experience would be even better if the rooms were - Our host David was very kind and helpful in all ways, and if we needed anything he did help out A.S.A.P
The bed was really comfortable, the shower was warm, and that helped in very cold februar month.
Great room service, clean towels and clean up every day. Replenishment of everything we needed came daily which was wonderful.
Very quiet, no noise from outside or from other guests. Although our stay at Tulip was very pleasant, there were a few things about the room that I felt could have been better considering the price we paid. The house is very old and everything is starting to smell pretty bad, entrance, rooms and everything else. There is a carpet on the floor in the room that I found very dirty and also in all corners, on the skirting boards and windows. But we felt good at Tulip but I thought the price was too high compared to the cleanliness.
Nichts
- Ineke (9/5): Location, location, location - Excellent location, large sized room, good facilities in the room. No breakfast but plenty of bites, snacks and drinks provided. The owner I spoke to was very kind. It’s a typical Amsterdam house, which I loved. Very characteristic. I liked all - but note that the house has very steep and narrow stairs. No elevator. No issue for me but good to know.

- Ruben (6/5): Really lovely cosy place with absolutely amazing hosts - Location
Layout of the room
Smart TV is really nice
Has a microwave in the room
Has a shared kitchen downstairs which is amazing and cosy Just needs renovation, seamless surfaces etc are needed especially in hygiene areas
- Ali (10/5): Amazing - Everything. Location is in the heart of Amsterdam. David was a very welcoming friendly owner. Will definitely be the first option if revisiting Amsterdam again . Nothing.
- Tárik (10/5): -
- Oksana (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Excellent stay at a sweet little property! - The Tulip of Amsterdam was such a pleasant surprise! As a long-time corporate traveler, I typically stay in the big chain hotels, but traveling with my daughter, we wanted to try something different this trip. Enter the Tulip. This is such a sweet little property, well-located just steps off Nieuwmarkt and a quick walk from the Metro. David, our host, was so welcoming and was full of tips for our stay. From restaurant recommendations, to storing our bags while we went sightseeing on our final day, he was so accommodating and helpful. We loved chatting with him and meeting his very friendly cat, Heidi, who supervised us on our comings and goings.
The room was an excellent size for two, and was well-supplied with snacks, coffee, a small fridge, and a microwave. The beds were warm and comfortable, and the team was kind enough to split apart the king bed into two smaller ones for my daughter and me.
As others have stated, the stairs are steep, but David very kindly helped us with our bags to make it as easy as possible for us to bring our things up and down. We had a hard time leaving when it came time to go, and we will definitely be back!
- Abraham (10/5): - The owner David and staff Mary went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. They have thought of everything, the rooms were complete with everything from spare razors, toothbrushes, travel adaptors and paracetamol.
Beds are super comfy. Netflix on TV with their own account so no can just fire it up and relax. Complimentary snacks and drinks are topped up daily which was awesome.
Im forgetting many things I'm sure but the bottom line is I've never seen such attention to detail and care in a BnB before.
Thanks David and thanks Mary. We will be back.
- Colleen (10/5): The best hospitality and accommodations in Amsterdam! - Fabulous location and amenities! David was so accommodating and hospitable. Couldn’t have been a better welcome to Amsterdam from our red eye flight.
- Leandro (7/5): Bien - La ubicación 2do piso por escalera, poco luminoso
- Andrea (9/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Wylie (10/5): -
- Luqman Fahad (10/5): -
- MarianaZF (10/5): - David was very friendly and helpful. The building itself is super charming with great location!!
Super typical Amsterdam building including the stairs XD decorations around made you feel like a true local. My room was very spacious and comfortable with many amenities that I got to enjoy and were greatly appreciated (for example hair straightener since I forgot mine).
Would definitely recommend and would repeat my stay 100%
- Chapman (10/5): - The room was great, and David was very helpful. The Location was excellent.
- Pavel (10/5): Put up a slightly larger sign with the hotel name))) - Perfect location, very comfortable bed, awesome ambience. Everything was great
- Anna (10/5): - Cozy amenities

going over and above to ensure we had a great stay. Very hospitable.
- MARTIN (10/5): -
- Tatyana (10/5): - We had a great experience. We loved the place and the service.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect - Lovely apartment Nothing
- Sami (10/5): - Gray place
- Sandra (10/5): Amazing stay - We really liked that everything was thought out down to the smallest detail. Everything was described and prepared — where to go for food, which places to visit, what local dishes to try and more recommendations. There were umbrellas by the entrance too. Room was clean, tidy, and spacious. The location was excellent, right next to the main streets, with everything you might need nearby. It was also close to the train station. David was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay! We enjoyed everything
- Mark (10/5): - David and his college could not do enough for us during our stay. The room was comfortable along with after snack and beer! Perfect for the centre of Amsterdam and the cats are lovely too. Would recommend.
- john (8/5): - Stand in a Dutch home was a wonderful experience. If you are an overweight American walking up the stairs with your luggage is going to be a major struggle if you stay at this place, make sure you bring small bags for luggage and again if you are afraid of heights or you are a large person, I would not recommend it
- Samantha (8/5): Very good - Great location. Very quaint property and a welcome change from the vibe you’d get from a large chain hotel.
- Stefan (9/5): Very interesting - The old house was very interesting. We stayed in the top room and could also see a bit of the city from there. The room set-up was very different from any other accommodation Staying in the top room, just below the roof was a bit noisy from the birds, but it was not so bad 😄
- MICHAEL (10/5): - We had such an amazing stay at Tulip of Amsterdam! Chris and David were wonderfully kind and welcoming hosts! The hotel is perfectly located to where we could walk to everything we had planned. The Tulip was so quiet and peaceful, allowing us to sleep soundly. Our room was the top room and it was a perfect room! We loved having a table and chairs to sit and chat and enjoy the fruit and drinks provided to us. All the windows kept the room light and gave it a lovely, airy feel. The windows had awesome room darkening shades too! We wish we could’ve stayed longer at Tulip! We highly recommend staying at Tulip!
- Jesse (10/5): - David has been a great host! Exquisite property.
- Brian (10/5): - David was an excellent host who communicated effectively both prior and during our stay. The room was well equipped and very clean. The location is central and all the major attractions are walkable. We would highly recommend Tulip of Amsterdam
- Thomas (10/5): Perfect Stay - Our stay at the Tulip could not have been better! The location was convenient to EVERYTHING! David was the perfect host. The room was great. Service every day and replenished free water, snacks, fruit, etc…We love staying at BnB’s that are reflective of the area and culture. This is an original old Amsterdam home on a canal and just what we were looking for. The stairs in the old homes are narrow and David carried our luggage for us. We’re no spring chickens so this was essential. Recommendations for restaurants, stores, and services was extremely helpful. Book this…you’ll be glad you did!
- Fabian (9/5): Superb -
- Mudassar (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (10/5): Loved our stay - We loved our stay at Tulip of Amsterdam. The hosts David & Chris are lovely. The location was perfect. Couldn't believe what an incredible old building it was. There were a few steep steps to the room but this just adds to the character of the building. I was travelling with my son who suffers from anxiety and he felt very safe here which meant a lot. Would definitely stay again. Nothing to dislike, it was perfect for us.
- Ivy (10/5): Exceptional - The location was fantastic as well as the staff! I loved staying there. The only item of note, the stairs to the room are steep & narrow. It was fine for me, however not for everyone. Nothing
- Hetty (10/5): - Gezellig
- Jayme (10/5): Exceptional -
- Senad (8/5): - Er tvunget til at udfylde min vurdering for at komme videre til kvittering for mit ophold, splid af min tid.
- Jennifer (10/5): - This property was centrally located so that everything in Amsterdam was a short walk away. The host David was so welcoming! The stairs getting to the rooms are no joke, but I knew that going in. Some reviewers have complained about them but Davids's property description is straightforward and indicates the property is not handicap accessible so do your homework and don't underestimate it. Our stay was wonderful, and we would absolutely book here again.
- Tufan (10/5): Easy - Close to everywhere Nothing
- Shanice (9/5): The Tulip of Amsterdam was definitely a great choice for me as I visited Amsterdam for the first time! Cant wait to come - Best location for my first time in Amsterdam! David was very welcoming, it felt like staying at a good friend’s home. The room was very comfortable especially if you are traveling solo and has that Dutch charm in building style. Loved the guide book of recommendations, the Van Beeren pub nearby became a favorite! The narrow and steep staircase took some getting used to, wider and heavier suitcases might be a challenge. Luckily I am short so it was no problem but for taller guests, gotta watch for your head!
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- María Rosario Fernández (10/5): - Sitio perfecto para alojarse en Amsterdam
Cuidan todos los detalles
Los anfitriones maravillosos!!! Pendientes de todo !!
Para volver
- Erin Kathleen (10/5): - Tulip of Amsterdam
I know these reviews are meant to be short, but I need to take some time here.
First, if I could give Tulip of Amsterdam 15 stars, I would. David and Jeremy made everything perfect—and that’s not an exaggeration! Responsive to the few questions we had (they made sure most everything was in place), the two obviously take pride in what they do.
This was our first time in Amsterdam and we didn’t want a ‘regular’ hotel room. Some travelers may think the two (yes, there are only two) rooms are kind of ‘kitschy’ but we wanted something that reflected the area we traveled—not what we could find near home.
The room was comfortable and cozy. We were very appreciative of the amenities and that we were invited to use the full kitchen/common area. The room we were in was at the top of the stairs (don’t be intimidated! but plan to not rush up or down them). It was toward the back of the building and that was wonderful because we had no street/canal noise. We would open a small window and hear the chiming of the church bells on the hour.
The location is also a plus. Once we got our bearings, we were a 10-minute walk to Centraal Station, close to metro/tram lines (handy for the Rijksmuseum) and restaurants/markets everywhere!
If you are planning a ‘first trip’ to Amsterdam, staying at the Tulip of Amsterdam is a must! I know we would look to staying here on our ‘next’ trip…if we are so lucky!
- DONALD (10/5): - Excellent and very comfortable accommodation with welcoming hosts. Facilities great, close to shops, metro stop and restaurants.
- Ilaria (10/5): Exceptional - Chris and David were so welcoming and kind. We loved our stay and felt truly at home.
Our room was beautiful, super clean and fully equipped. Special mention to Heidi, the sweetest cat ever :)
We would definitely stay here again next time! Everything was perfect
- Raul (10/5): - The property was amazing very close to popular areas and many restaurants and convenience stores within feet. David and Chris very professional and polite. They gave us lots of notes and guidance. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again
- Colin (10/5): 05/12/2024 - Very old 16th century building very enjoyable stay right in the heart beat to what’s happening

- Zhang (9/5): Superb -
- Loay (7/5): Good -
- Brian (10/5): - David is an excellent host who responded quickly to our need for a room due to an unexpected layover.
The House from the 1600s is located next to a canal is near all the action but it it quiet and safe.
The traditional room was clean and funky with some beers and chocolates included.
A fantastic short stay !
- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Calisa (10/5): - Our hosts were so nice, and our room was charming, clean, and well-stocked with goodies. The common areas were also lovely, and the location was great—in the historic part of the city and within easy waddling distance from Centraal. We plan to return!
- James (10/5): - Tulip was definitely a unique place to stay! The room was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. The fresh fruit and snacks were really nice warm welcome. Tulip in a great safe neighborhood, with walking distance to everything we needed it. David was an amazing host! Very friendly, professional and very helpful. We definitely appreciate all your help with everything David!!
Thanks again,
Mona
- Margret (10/5): - The most unique thing about the property, were the wonderful hosts David and Chris. They could not have been more welcoming and accommodating- David
even carried our luggage up to our room via a very old, 16th century (I believe), narrow set of stairs, and then back down again the morning of our departure.
The room was exceptionally clean, quiet and also provided housekeeping on a daily basis. This included replenishing not only standard supplies but also the treats, was so very appreciated.
Thank you David and Chris for your amazing hosting skills and attention to detail. You made us feel so very welcome in your beautiful city. We will definitely recommend Tulip of Amsterdam to anyone visiting your beautiful city!
Margret & Mike
- Briana (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, just a 10-second walk to the metro station. The room was cozy, clean, and well-equipped. The travel advice from the host was extremely helpful. I even saved the website with their favorite places in town, including cafes, restaurants, bars, etc., for future reference. I got a taste of how amazing Amsterdam is from the host and from the stay. Fantastic experience!
- Rich (10/5): The unique property is very comfortable, has nice amenities and is in a great location. - The location is excellent and the communication with the hosts is exceptional. We enjoyed everything about our stay.
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional! - Chris and David super friendly and helpful. Best hosts!
Exceptional decor, vibe and thoughtfully created including all the personal touches you just dont get in a hotel. David even brought our bags up and down the stairs so we didnt have to.
The property is right on the canal on the doorstep of the Red Light district yet super quiet and peaceful, and full of character and personality.
I would give them 7 stars if i could. Nothing at all. It was perfect and exceeded all expectations.
- Sarah (10/5): Characterful, central good value room - Traditional canalside house, very hospitable and helpful host, large clean room with everything one could need - fresh fruit, muesli bars, microwave, coffee maker, kettle with a wide and generous selection of teas as well as a little box saying "Forgotten anything? You may find it in here" which might be useful to some and a fantastic folder with lots of useful suggestions of restaurants, shops, things to do. All at a great price for Amsterdam. We didn't have a canal view from our room but that wasn't a big deal
- Andrei (10/5): I would recommend this place for all the Amsterdam visitors! - A Box with miscellaneous items which people usually forget during traveling. Fridge with cold water and beer, Sweets and various type of tea flavours.
Neon! I would recommend the owner to clean the sink. It will take quite a while to empty it of water.
- Hanson (10/5): Gorgeous Hotel - Very local to everything ! Easy to get from if you use the train station 10 minute walk. A nice coffee shop within half a block. Very easy to check into the hotel room was ready before check-in. Comfy bed Also added features . David the host was amazing! Nothing
- Jiri (10/5): Exceptional - David thank you, looking forward to come again.
- Anna (8/5): Great location, long weekend in Amsterdam - Great location, comfortable bed and good shower. Really well equipped, great to have a fridge and coffee machine. Lots of useful information in a folder from the host We were in the top attic room, the decor is starting to look a little faded for the price
- Anne (10/5): - Excellent stay! A lovely old Amsterdam house. Genuine, helpful and very friendly host. Perfect location. We will definetly come back!
- Kelsey (10/5): - Amazing place to stay in Amsterdam! Very central location. Clean and beautiful room! David was very helpful with tips about the city. I would definitely stay here again when I return to Amsterdam!
- Denise (6/5): Pleasant - Good location. Spacious. Comfortable bed. Sewer smell in the bathroom. Probably link to the age of the system.
- Rich (10/5): This unique property with amazing hosts made for a perfect stay. - The location was perfect for walking to many of the Amsterdam sights we wanted to see. The hosts went above and beyond in so many ways and were extremely attentive and responsive. We really appreciated all of the amenities. We have already booked our next stay. We enjoyed everything about our stay.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is in a perfect location. It is in an old historic house and the room was not only adorable, but equipped with everything we might need.
There are very steep stairs, however, so it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or even small children. Nothing.
- Anthony (8/5): - Great host and welcoming
- Olegs (7/5): Good -
