Guest Reviews
- Maggie (8/5): Very clean, affordable stay - Extremely clean (truly impressed - outside looks unassuming) and affordable lodging option, in all of Kauai. The area is a bit barren. There are food options but it feels a bit “at the end of the road”. Some homeless folk are around. This is all completely manageable. You’ll be in the park most of the time.

- Kate (10/5): We loved our stay at West Inn. Great value for money. - This property was clean and had everything you need. Only downside was the roosters crowing but that’s part of the charm of Kauai.
- Markus (9/5): -
- CORPUZ (10/5): Location perfect for our Baseball tournament, Room is clean and Love the shower. - Located in middle of town . Wasn't around long enough to notice anything we didn't like.
- Konstantin (8/5): A very pleasant experience. Would stay there again. - Nice place with attentive staff. large room with all the essentials. great location for exploring Waimea Canyon.
- Bastien (8/5): -
- Laverne (7/5): - I found the room clean and convinent for my stay. I had an issue with the hot water . A little hotter than warm at best which was literally an eye opener when taking a shower. HOT WATER

- Ye (9/5): 旅馆不错 - 我们到达的晚,工作人员给我们留下入住指南非常方便。房间干净。地点离峡谷景区很近 工作人员下午才上班,虽然不需要见面
- Catherine (10/5): - It’s right off the main road. Very convenient
- Monika (9/5): - Die Lage direkt am Meer ist toll, von der Hauptstraße war nichts zu hören, dafür Meeresrauschen. Wunderbarer Ort um den Westen von Kauaii zu erkunden.
- Aiello (10/5): -
- David (10/5): The West Inn is a gem for travelers on the southwest coast of Kauai without paying resort prices. - What a gem for travelers exploring Waimea Canyon and the Napali Coast without having to fork out resort prices. There's nothing fancy about little Waimea. The same is true with the West Inn. One travel guide we read described it as the closest thing to a Holiday Inn Express (compared to resorts down the coast toward Lihue). Fair enough. But it was totally comfortable, quiet and off-the-charts clean. Impressive. The owner was extremely helpful in accommodating our late check-in after a day on the water for a coastal tour, and provided tips on local restaurants. Our advice: Dinner at locally owned Wrangler's Steakhouse was outstanding, even if we only ordered simple burgers and beer. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Top-quality food. Like the West Inn, strong management shows in the product at Wrangler's Steakhouse. Nothing could have been better.
- Bobbie (8/5): Very good - The bed and pillows.
- Mark (10/5): - Access to our room was easy. The room is clean and comfortable. The location is good and near restaurants and the public pier. There is a lanai with tables and chairs for dining and a view of a small horse ranch bordered by the ocean.
- kyle (10/5): - A very comfortable stay, clean and walking distance to food places and coffee. Management always responded quickly with information about setting up our stay. Shannon texted us with clear instructions how to access our room since we arrived late at night. Wonderful stay and will highly recommend to our friends and family.
- Aida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paulette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional - Easy check in process. Staff were very friendly and responsive. Even had fresh mangoes given to us from a tree outside the hotel! Close to lots of great activities. Great stay.
- Guy (8/5): - The staff were very helpful when the air conditioning wasn't working correctly, and they were able to handle that immediately.
- Mandy (8/5): - Thank you for quick communication and recommendations.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Figir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heidi (6/5): OK, but a disappointing location - Comfy bed, Kitchenette, spacious. The location only had glimpses of the ocean. There was a trash yard out in front of the balcony. there was an acrid smoky smell like trash burning.
- Eve (10/5): - Perfect place to stay if visiting the canyon.
- Maggie (7/5): I wold go back again. - It is centrally located in town, with easy walks to the beach and local restaurants as well. The rooms were clean, with refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and even a toaster. They have a nice balcony on the second floor overlooking the beach. They dont' offer any tea! The A/C was loud.
- Oliver (9/5): Exceeded expectations, great accomodation on the west of Kauai - The room was huge and very clean. The bed was comfortable, the TV was great, the wifi was reliable, we had a table and chairs on a shared balcony facing the beach where we enjoyed lunch.
I have to say that this was a last minute booking due to a change of plans and we were not expecting much because the pictures look like a really old place but the bedsheets are completely different and more modern, the TVs are new LGs LCDs, the furniture has been updated, etc. so please update the pictures because they dont do justice at all! The place is much much better now.
The staff was also amazing, Shannon was really proactive taking care of everything and we also had the pleasure to meet the cleaning service team (and dogs!) that were very nice. Nothing
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable room, ideally located between the beach and “downtown” in a very quiet area. Easy check in/check out and very friendly staff! Will definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Low key but pleasant
- Stacy (10/5): If you haven't stayed here yet you should - Everything. Was kept well informed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent. Restful stay. Laid back relaxed atmosphere. A gem. N/A
- Yi (10/5): - Great host!!
- Gail (10/5): Great place to relax, unwind, and spend time in Waimea Canyon State Park - Comfortable beds and extra clean room. Plenty of free parking. Laundry facilities, kitchenette with fridge, sink, and microwave. Coffee maker with coffee provided and even complimentary snacks. The owners and staff were friendly and communicative before and during our stay. Great location to get to Waimea state park. Fun little shops, a farmers market, and restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended! If you are looking for a resort experience, this is not a big resort. For a local/ small town vibe? Perfect!
- Fabio (8/5): Very good - Very nice and helpful staff Beds are too small
- Lelene (10/5): I would recommend to stay if you need to be in the vicinity of the island. - Hospitality.
Easy access to shopping and stores.
Room was spacious.
It was quiet at night. We got a great sleep that weekend.
It was close to the event we flew in for. N/A
- Zamora (9/5): Great cozy place that the outside - Spacious room. Very quiet. Close to the venue we were going to be at. Fast and easy checking No paved driveway. No food places near by that was open
- Frank (10/5): A surprising gem of a find. - Not to be confused with the WESTIN hotel chain, this small hotel is the only hotel we could find on the far west end of the island close to the canyons and boat excursions to avoid an early morning drive from the 'big" city. We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem with new/ remodeled rooms, clean, good ac. Would recommend this for those wanting to be close to Napoli and canyon tours.
- L (6/5): Good location, not so great the cleaning was only once - Location, friendly staff There was no cleaning the second night, so no towels, coffee or anything.
- Leilani (8/5): - Good 👍
- Marlyne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Clean, new and quiet. Great place! All good!
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - We really enjoyed our stay!
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Everything was perfect 👌 👍
- Darlene (10/5): Best on the West! - I love this westside hotel! Friendly and helpful staff, walking distance to everything you would need.
- Garret (9/5): Superb -
- terece (10/5): - Love the West Kauai Inn! The staff are great. Property is in a great location. It was quiet and very walkable to Waimea stores and eateries. Enjoyed my stay and will be back!
- Daria (9/5): Superb - Nice, clean, much better than on pictures! Too many times I had to submit my IDs, sign documents, etc. was so annoying for me.
- Lauren (10/5): - The room was spacious, clean, large mini fridge, plus microwave and sink. Bathroom was very nice and large. Full bath and shower. We were very impressed. Staff was informative and thorough. The bed was honestly the most comfortable bed we’ve slept on while away from home. We’ve stayed at in many high end hotels, and this was the best sleep by far. Mahalo.
- Mariah (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): West is best.... - Easy check in. Easy access to the Canyon. This place has is to a self sufficient traveler
There isnt staff on hand 24/7. But it's quiet and convenient location. They give u a generous basket full of snacks. No cleaning service or replenish of my things. But it was fine. I just would have liked more coffee pods since I stayed there 3 days. Staff isn't here until evening ...so when out all day hard to catch them for coffee pods etc. But it didn't ruin the trip. There were many stores close by
- Justine (10/5): It was an amazing experience - Exceptional and professional staff. Location, Location, Location Loved it all..
- Leah (9/5): Relaxing - Very accessible to food and groceries
Close to a massage place, library and public swimming pool More bright light in the room
- Mary (9/5): Enjoyable stay for west coast attractions. - Karen was extremely kind and personally showed us to our room. She also let us check in a bit early. The room was very comfortable and lots of convenient outlets for electronics. Air worked well as did the ceiling fan. Nice clean well kept room. Good choice in this small town. Upstairs room but I didn’t request ground floor when booking.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ena (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at The West Inn and would love to come back!, - Very nice staff, great room with balcony towards the sea side (you could even spot the sea between the trees), very clean, the kitchen in our room was fully equipped. Everything was perfect :)
- Kanani (10/5): Very nice and clean. Felt like home being that I'm from west side so nice spot too actually. Even if communication w - Everything. Nice spot right in the middle of everything; can just walk to the store, etc etc. Room was very cozy and made us feel right at home. The two days just went by super fast though! Nothing. Everything was good :) definitely will stay there again and next time do direct booking to get the kamaaina discount.
- Justin (7/5): Good -
- Susan (9/5): A perfect place to rest . Near the beach, great restaurants and shops - Service was outstanding! I needed to be near the hospital after my spouse was admitted following a serious injury. The staff were kind and accommodating. I’m extremely grateful for a safe comfortable place to rest each night. Highly recommend!
- David (7/5): Good -
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable and Clean - Staff was very helpful. Hotel was comfortable and clean
- John (10/5): Clean and comfortable place to stay in a great location for exploring Waimea - We arrived on a day where there was no reception but the team at West Inn sorted everything via text for us - really efficient and worked perfectly while we were travelling. The Inn has a perfect location for exploring local hotspots, the staff were really friendly / helpful, facilities were all clean and comfortable. N/A
- Barbara (8/5): - nice stay, love the snacks they left for us, did not love that the 3 nights we were there room service did not show up or ask if we needed any towels or anything but for the most part very pleasant stay and convenient. Also thought it was a bit overpriced, $300 the night was a bit too much for not having pool and other amenities. Something i did love was the communication with the person i booked was pretty on point until the check in process, loved that texting was with fast response. Love the vintage old town feel… i would visit again! Overall pretty good experience.
- SHARON (6/5): - Ok for what I paid, decor need to be revamp /patio table served as dinnette table ...needed some type of chair/couch or something other than the bed to sit in the room. Patio was good fit. Hotel contact and direct text messages on point.
- Kevin (7/5): Good - The room was clean and good sized and the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. We planned on staying on the east side of the island and we needed to drive much more than we had anticipated. This was not the fault of the facility. It was close to several beaches and a few other sites of interest and walking distance to a great shave ice location.
- Chris (10/5): - Nice location. Very short stay, night. Only issue was the coffee maker didn’t work, boohoo for me ha ha. Otherwise thumbs up. Shannon very helpful
- Manosalva (7/5): Good -
- Ashlee (10/5): As a solo traveler this was the perfect place to stay! The location is excellent if you’re wanting to visit the Waimea C - - Great Location
- Friendly Staff
- Kitchenette N/a :)
- Sarah (10/5): - A real find, close to the Waimea Canyon roads. An older motor court motel, welcoming and nicely updated. Clean, quiet, with balconies and great local advice. Wi-fi, small kitchen and keyless door lock you won't forget.
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (9/5): Superb -
- Joanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy Borgman (10/5): - Clean, welcoming room with kitchen facilities and in-housewasher/drier. They even supplied the detergent!
I would love to go there again.
- Paul (8/5): - very good
- Coate (8/5): We had a wonderful holiday primarily because of the staff. - The location is good particularly because of the heavy traffic on the south and east sides of Kauai. Best of all was the staff who were exceptionally friendly, helpful and kind. The lack of a pool or hot tub on the property was a disappointment but we knew that before arriving. Many, many thanks to the staff especially Shannon, Pappy and Nicole.
- Anne (10/5): - This place is awesome!! They’re close to the beach, access to local restaurants that are tasty, and the room itself was nicer than the website suggested. Totally recommend and would go back.
- Frederik (7/5): Good -
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (9/5): Beautiful Cheap Tiny Inn On the Quiet Side of Kauai - Less busy side of Kauai, great food options within walking distance, cheap room pricing for Kauai, rooms are spacious and nice, rooms use a code so no key card is needed and you can't get locked out, overlooks a beautiful back yard with the ocean just in sight, friendly and understanding staff, we were the only people in the hotel for like 3 days. Microwave was broken. However, once we told them about the issue they replaced later that same day!
- Shiying (7/5): Good - location no staff on duty all during our stay
- VickyAnn (10/5): - I was impressed. Check-in was quick and easy. I had a 2-bedroom suite. Nice and spacious. Everything was clean and well-kept, if not new. Kitchen was well-equipped. AC was nice and cold. Washer and dryer available downstairs. The unit was set back on the property so it was very private. Would definitely stay here again!
- John J. (8/5): - it fit my what I was looking for.. price and solitude.
what I didn't like was the adjoining door. It allowed noise to be easily transmitted from the next room.
- Anindya_das (8/5): Very good -
- Micha (7/5): Quite Reasonable accommodation for about 400$ per day. - Great location, large room The A/C was too small for the room and was very noisy.
The accommodation was overpriced (but this is apparently quite common in Kauai)
- Travis (6/5): - Waimea is a very quiet, laid back, "old school" country style town so you need to keep that in mind when creating expectations for a stay in this area. The property appeared to be well maintained and recently updated. Our room was clean, had a nice welcome basket and tiny kitchenette and worked well enough for just resting our heads. Rooms are cleaned only twice a week according to their directions but sadly no one came to clean our room on the designated day. We took out our own trash but didnt have clean towels after a few days which was disappointing. There are coin operated washers and dryers on property but be prepared with your own quarters. It costs $2 for each machine. Management was rarely on property when we were there but you could reach someone by phone if you needed to talk to someone. Our window a/c unit cooled our room just fine but it did take a few days to get used to the sound of it turning on and off in the middle of the night. There were several places to eat within walking distance amd two grocery stores also nearby. Overall, this place worked for our basic needs.
- Johnny (6/5): - Everything was good and fun!
- Medina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (8/5): - I like the good communication from the ordering of the reservation. Staff is very friendly, helpful and very knowledgable of the Island and surroundings. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, we liked the lenai to sit, feel the breeze and relax. the walk to the pier was very close and the gorgeous sunset was the best ive ever seen while standing on the pier. Great experience, we recommend this hotel for a comfortable close stay.
Thanks again.
- Lisa (10/5): Cozy, clean, convenient, cute - The cozy room that my family and I stayed in came with 2 comfortable double beds, nice cold ac, free parking, big tv, kitchen with dishes, sink, and a microwave. I loved the location because we took a boat tour of the Na Pali Coast from the Kikiaola Boat Harbor located only a few minutes away. The Waimea Canyon was also conviniently located. This hotel is located in the cute town of Waimea. We were lucky enough to attend the Art Night in Hanapepe located in the next town, which occurs every Friday.
When on vacation, we don't usually stay in resorts because we only use the room to wind down and get ready for our next adventure for the following day. So I have to mention that if you love hot steamy showers like me, be aware that AT NIGHT the water doesn't get really hot. It only gets warmat night. I know this because i also took a shower in the afternoon after the boat trip and the water got really hot, how I like it.
Another detail I'd like to mention are the walls are thin. Our neighbors were blasting their music, but had the courtesy of turning it off before it got late.
Other than that, if you like a cute cozy clean hotel in a cute town and convenient location next to the boat harbor and Waimea Canyon, then this is the hotel for you. It's not a resort and not a shabby motel. This hotel/ motel still exceeds expectations. I would definitely stay here again. Love it!!
- Yanos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brenda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Abcde (10/5): - This was such a pleasant stay at Kaua’i West Inn for us in Waimea! I had no idea that this was here before (as I frequent Kaua’i pretty often!) and I would gladly book again. I loved how clean the rooms where, and stocked with all the necessities one might need while traveling and how close everything was walking-distance! Mahalo for the hotel accommodation
- John (8/5): Comfortable, relaxing. Accommodating in every sense of the word. - The people who work there were really friendly and accommodating. It exceeded our expectations. The folks who work there really seem to care.
- Hari556 (7/5): Peaceful st?ay at Waimea - Relatively big room, shared patio, can hear the sound of the ocean from our room, fairly clean. Good location if you are planning to go to Waimea canyon. Peaceful during our stay but could be because it wasn't heavily occupied. AC was pretty old and finicky, location is dead at night with few eating options nearby and most of them were empty, no breakfast, motel vibes.
