Guest Reviews
- Francis (8/5): - No a/c a problem. But hotel did supply a fan
Hard to get luggage to room since inside castle walls. No cars allowed
- Miyako (6/5): - The hotel is located few steps after the gate to the walled Óbidos area. The free parking is a few minutes away and shops, cafe and restaurants are all nearby. It is an historical old traditional Portuguese hotel which I
- Carrie (10/5): - This hotel was beautiful. Loved our spacious room and bathroom! We had a cute little patio outside our room too. The roof has amazing views. The staff was very responsive, very helpful and friendly. Love that everything in the shared kitchen is available the guests. Would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stay in an authentic building - Great location in the walled city. Check in with code and lockbox worked well. Room (no. 2) - up one set of narrow stairs - was small, but clean with a nice view of the town and castle wall. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom - everything worked well. Breakfast was okay - there are better options close by in town.
It was a fun stay in an authentic building in the walled city. We would stay here again.
- Ilda (10/5): - This property was so cute. Nice sitting area on the main level.
- Dominik (10/5): - Wonderful stay in a cozy place inside the walls of Obidos - we e stayed for 3 days using Obidos as home base to explore surrounding areas (Fatima, Nazare, Bathala and more). The room is very small and does not have AC - we were lucky though as the temperatures at night were cool enough. It is a unique experience to stay in this quaint and very clean guesthouse.
- Juan (10/5): - Charming
- Tatiana (10/5): Hospedagem linda e aconchegante! - Amamos nossa hospedagem.
- Matthew (10/5): - Amazing location
- Beatriz N B (10/5): - Estaria ótima,.excelente localização,.porém tivemos muita dificuldade para achar
- li (8/5): - The room is decorated nicely and all things are functional. But it's definitely small and aged. Don't offer a luggage storage.
- Craig (8/5): - Easy free parking not far from the property. Only complaint would be lack of A/C. Being able to stay in Obidos for 1 night was great as things quiet down once the buses leave.
- ROBERTO (10/5): - Estadia agradável, local aconchegante, pessoal prestativo e simpáticos. Pousada bem localizada, na entrada da Vila.
- Sylvie (10/5): - Charming, great location, clear instructions for self check-in, very clean.
- THERESA (8/5): - It was quint, back in time look, liked that. No air conditioning I didnt like but it turned out to be cool that night, so turned out ok. When other guests came in too loud.
- Corina (6/5): Well located but hot rooms! - The hotel itself is a lovely, old, unique building inside the wall close to the public parking lot which was nice. The room was small and VERY hot!! No AC, fan or screens on the windows. We could not sleep because of the heat and humidity in the bedroom. They are looking to rectify this problem in the future but be prepared if visiting in the summer months. The bed was ok comfort wise. We didn’t have breakfast which is 5€ per person because there was not a lot of choice so we opted to eat at The Literary Man outside the walls. This was a lovely breakfast buffet for 15€.
We would stay again if the room issue is fixed because of the location of the hotel.

- Laura (8/5): - A very unique stay within a walled town takes you back in time. The room was very small but authentic to the times, with thin walls (hear all the hallway noise). Very helpful staff. Parking outside the walls of the castle is very close and inexpensive. Great selection of restaurants.
- Stephen (8/5): - One great restaurant others were terrible. We overlooked lack of staff assistance, and found entry conditions almost impossible. Obidos a pleasant and attractive tourist town, but lack of local information made bus service difficult to use with any certainty.
- Albert (10/5): - Tolle Lage mitten in der Altstadt, schöne Zimmer, etwas enge Betten.
- Linda (10/5): - I loved the warm hospitality we received and the help from the owner.
- Amanda (8/5): - Charming small property inside the castle walls. Host is wonderful and so accommodating. Parking is outside walls but fairly close. I would stay there again
- Susan (10/5): - Wonderful hospitality. Great location.
- Susan (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Lovely stay. The hotelier and staff Were very welcoming and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Winderful - We were in #1 and loved it. The hotel is well located. The host is fun to talk with and wants each guest to have a great stay. His restaurant suggestion was great. Be aware that driving and parking within the city walls is not allowed. There are two city entrances. Chose the closer one!
- Sharon (10/5): - Very cute place. I’d stay again.
- Valentyna (10/5): - Nice environment, the owners are nice and they put quite an effort to make the place distinctive and quite interesting.
- Diane (10/5): Fantastic BNB inside the Obidos Castle - This is a wonderful BNB. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. Breakfast was delightful. Just park near the aqueduct and bring your luggage with you.
- Terri (10/5): - The guesthouse was perfect for our stay in Obidos. The parking lot is not far to the front door. We loved being able to walk the wall in the morning. You can pick what you want for breakfast which I like as it doesn’t waste food. Would stay again.
- William (10/5): - Adorable little spot inside the walls
- Gwenn (10/5): - Óbidos is a very charming village. The casa de sao Thiago was a very well run place. The confort is excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming friendly
- Caroline (10/5): A truly wonderful place to stay! 5 stars from me - What a fabulous stay!! Wonderful service, super comfortable bed and the wooden shutters made the room completely dark for a good night's sleep. The location is very convenient for free parking near the tourist center -- just a 5 min walk to the guest house. And the old town is right on your doorstep. Very helpful pre-arrival communication from the hoteliers about parking and check in. All in all, a truly wonderful place to stay.
- Daniel (10/5): Lovely service and setting - Wonderful team, Alice was very accommodating to my situation, can't wait to visit Obidos again and stay here - one of my favourite historical places in Portugal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent shower, central location, though some difficulty in using navigation system as cars are not permitted within fortress walls and there are two facilities with the same name at opposite ends of the village.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The proprietress was most gracious & friendly. Breakfast was very satisfactory in very pleasant dining room. Location is perfect! Very close to walled inner city of Obidos, where the outdoor marketplace sells food & goods; and also, directly within the best part of Obidos's two major thoroughfares. My wife & I are VERY HAPPY we stayed 2 days at Casa de Sao Thiago d'Obidos. Much gratitude to our hostess!
:). Joram & Gloria
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Suggest information on how to get there from train station.
- anonymous (6/5): - 1, The breakfast fruit bowl was excellent. 2, Expedia made me believe this was the one below the castle so I walked all the way up Rua Direita with my luggage to it before being turned back to go back by the Porta da Vila! It really was not their fault. I think Expedia misled me. 3. Despite the cleanliness there was an unbearable sewer smell in the bathroom whether using the sink, shower or toilet which always resulted in this loud knocking noise in the pipes before the bad sewer smell comes out of the toilet at 1 time actually spilling into the bedroom. I've had the same experience in old european town accomodations so I survived my 1 night stay. 4. There were people talking loudly below my window followed by a marching horn band that went around till 10:30pm with somewhat sad pieces, the 1st piece sounded to me like a dirge.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Muy bien ubicado.
Tamaño de la habitación justita pero bien.
El desayuno un poco limitado
- Kari (8/5): Great Little B&B - Charming B&B with interesting art and antiques. The hostess working there was very nice and made sure all was fine. Our room was a bit tight but not unusual in places like this. The location was great as we parked in free lot just about 5 min outside the gate. There is only parking in the walls by special permit and limited. Also — note there are two of these Inns on opposite sides of the town. We initially went to the wrong one which took a bit of time getting resettled.
- Tim (10/5): - We were a family of four (including two adult sons) The hotel was charming in every way. Extremely clean and beautifully furnished. The beds were vary comfortable and it was very quiet overnight. Anna was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel highly.
- Juan Pablo (10/5): Beautiful and charming place inside Obidos walls - This was an amazing charming hotel inside the medieval walled town. Decorated in period furnishings it really takes you back to old times. Views from our balcony were amazing and it was awesome to be right inside the walled city and amenities. Highly recommended.
- Paul (8/5): - Excellent location with a good breakfast in an antique building.
- Kelly (10/5): Charming hotel in a charming town - This is a veey quaint guesthouse in the mosr lovely town. Located just off the main street its very comfortable. Nice breakfast.
- Billie (8/5): Easy to find if you arrive by bus - The lady couldn't have been any lovelier. She was helpful and spoke English really well! We made the mistake of arriving by train, which was very far from the hotel and made it impossible to find. If you arrive by bus or car, it's one of the first places near the main gate to the town and easy to find.
- John (10/5): - The hostess allowed to leave bags in the hotel when we arrived very early and helped us arrange for the bus to our next destination, She also made sure we had breakfast before we left for the bus! Thanks!
- Robert (10/5): Great small hotel in Obidos - This was a very nice small hotel which was very convenient to everything in Obidos. It was nicely decorated and made us feel like we had stepped back into earlier time period in Portugal. The owner was very friendly and recommended sights to see and a couple of nice restaurants for dinner. The breakfast was very good and the owner even served it a few minutes early so that we would be able to leave with plenty of time to catch our plane.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel with typical Portuguese furnishings! - Beautiful little hotel just inside the castle walls so that you don't have to walk too far with luggage. Room furnished in typical old Portuguese style with shuttered windows that look out over a beautiful view. Nice breakfast and great overall experience! Very clean.
- Diana (10/5): Great little town - We were welcomed at the town gate, taken to our accommodation and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was wonderful with a lovely view over the town and into the countryside, breakfast was great and Anna, the landlady, a pure delight. The only downside was the staircase to our room - we are travelling for three months and have medium size suitcases weighing about 18kg each, so this was quite an exercise.
- Roger (8/5): excellent stay in an historical site - A bit clumsy with properties at both ends of the walled city. Hosts are wonderful, and delight in sharing their knowledge of languages and culture. Son is training in archeology, and provides good insight to the area.
Signing and maps to the two properties are poor. Free parking is possible outside the wall, but not possible to figure out in advance of arrival - especially if you need to plough through tours of dazed cruise passengers
- Julia (8/5): - The receptionist/concierge at the main house (Alice). Was absolutely one of the kindest and comforting person we have ever met! I hope you get to meet her
- Bt (8/5): the location of Casa de Sao Thiago - we were unaware of exactly how difficult it would be to get to the hotel ,it was not suitable for some one with a walking disability I think that it should be made known it it's advertisement but having said that perhaps most people know that Obidos is a cobbled small town full of tourists. No where to park a car.The hotel was fine and the receptions were kind.
