Jet320926 (4/5): Much better hotels available - First room they gave us faced a brick wall with no light. We complained and they provided us with a first floor room facing the street. The rooms have no mini fridges or microwaves and are quite small. The bed was comfortable. The cleaning staff burst in early with no time between knocking and entering. We would not return.
Venture00458620848 (6/5): Weird place. Nice staff. Napoleon manager. - The hotel is a little strange. It's built into an old hacienda, but instead of preserving the charm they chose to pack in as many rooms as possible, so half the rooms have a balcony right next to a wall (and that's your only view). It's not well-maintained (maintenance man is super nice and everything was clean, but they obviously don't spend money to keep things up so the shower heads were old and rusted, the fish tank pump was broken, things like that). The "continental breakfast" was one piece of bread and a coffee, so make plans to eat elsewhere. The staff were all great, especially the young women at the front desk. I didn't catch her name but we checked in with a young Black lady who was very helpful through our stay. However, we watched her manage (a middle aged, short man who was starting to lose his hair and has a very big Napoleon complex) openly mistreat her and the other female employees for trying to give us good service. This man is a huge HR and PR risk, Wyndham. I know it's hard to fire people in Mexico, but he's worth paying severance to get rid of. He's destroying your culture with how he treats employers and guests. He yelled at someone for trying to allow us into our room before 3pm (it was 2pm and we confirmed with multiple people that the rooms were already ready). No guest should be forced to wait in the heat because he doesn't want them to use an hour's worth of electricity by checking in a little early. Soooo tacaño. He's also destroying your property by being such an obvious cheapskate. I would be embarrassed to have my company name on this property under his "care".

The restaurant is hit or miss, somedays good some days bad. so I would eat elsewhere. Rooms are always clean, towels a little like sandpaper, but they will dry you. Service by employees great!

571Travelbug (2/5): DO NOT BOOK HERE - I booked this hotel for 3 nights and prepaid. When we showed up, our room had no working air conditioning and the room was humid and moldy. The maintence man came and said the A/C was not functional. We tried another room - same issue. Rooms were uninhabitable. At this point we decided we had to leave - no other option. The hotel REFUSED to give a full refund. Ridiculous. Avoid the issue I had and don't book here.

Perla Maria (10/5): - Overall, a good place to stay. The hotel is centrally located, rooms are clean, staff is friendly, and had a delicious breakfast at their restaurant. They keep your luggage at the concierge if you check out and you have a later flight. Parking is free.
LUIS FELIPE (2/5): Bad experience. - My experience was not as good. Room had several hairs all around the floor and shower, there was also a skein of hair in the bathroom can. Parking is really limited to around 8-10 cars, so you will probably have to park on the street; in that sense information about the hotel is misleading. In other less important things, TV only has open channels, so there’s about 11 to choose from with really low quality of image and content. On the funny side, there are a pair of lamp fixtures just above the head of the beds that I just couldn’t find the switch to turn them off; even taking the general switch card out.. That will be one of life’s mysteries! Staff was kind. Anyway, Wndham hotels are banned for me now.

Edgar (2/5): Worst Hotel in Merida - This was an adventure. There was a storm in town the day of checking in, hotel lost power and had to wait 30min to get my room, before I realized that due to the outage, there was no water either. Merida that day was around 100 degrees. No a/c and no water at all. Although room was in order at a glance, the floor was dirty and dusty. The sink was clogged and water had no pressure in the shower. Power outages are so common in this hotel that the day of checking out, there was another outage. They could not check me out, no internet, again no water and no electricity. They say it is not their fault, but it is unbelievable that there is no a power backup for basic stuffs like going to the bathroom. It seems like every time it rains, they will have same problems. PLEASE DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. Believe me, this is the WORST hotel, I've ever been.

The only complaint I have is that they would only leave us two towels every single time they cleaned the room, even though it was four of us -- had to request two additional towels every day.
Lilliana (2/5): - The property was dirty and the beds were infested of bedbugs. I’m very disappointed of the services. We booked 3 rooms for the family and all 3 rooms were infested and dirty. Management was not helpful and they refuse to accept the issue. They offer to steam our beds but it was even worse. The room was more filthy than the ones we came from. Human hair in sheets. Mold in the bathrooms and stunk horribly. Boy at the desk said we brought the bed bugs and said he would sue us instead of being helpful. I don’t recommend anyone staying.
Felipe (2/5): I'd caution it. Better options nearby - I caution staying here, while the location is okay and the front desk staff is nice the management is awful. Stayed here in a "suite" The room was not cleaned on arrival ... had a funny smell from one of the bathrooms opened the toilet and you can guess what was still in the toilet from the previous guest stay. I was disgusted and ask to change rooms but this was not offered. The plumbing is bad and the shower doesn't drain. The jacuzzi tub didn't work even after maintenance came. If you think that was it there was no security lock on the door as shown and one of the cleaning staff entered the room late at night without permission while I was sleeping. Things do happen but what makes it worse is nothing was done to rectify these problems. They lied to hotels.com and said I was offered another room. Who would deny a new room with these issues? Will never stay here again the whole place needs an overhaul.

Miguel (4/5): - We arrived on Friday at 5 PM. We were told that our rooms would were not ready as they still had to be cleaned and sanitized. We went to dinner, returned at 7:30 PM and were told that our rooms weren’t quite ready. We waited for a bit and then told that our rooms were ready. Upon entering the rooms, they were still dirty. Hair from whomever stayed there previously was still on the bathroom sink. Trash had not been taken out etc. The rooms were not cleaned and the beds were not made the following day either. Tried to call the front desk but the phone in the room didn’t work. Needless to say, we left and found another place after the second day.

Lucila Patricia Avila (2/5): - The property is old and in a very bad condition. It seems like maintenance is something unknown in there. I didn’t event stay in the hotel, because My husband have an asthma condition and he cannot stay where there is a lot of dust. On top of it when I told them that I wouldn’t stay there, but looking for some other hotel they refused to refund me the payment whic I already had paid for three nights. I recommend not to stay here for anyone else.

Customer service not so good.

Pedí cancelar la segunda noche porque según las políticas se podía si se cancelaba antes de las 4:00 pm pero me dijeron que no se podía porque era la segunda noche( no entendí bien q tenía q ver , pero en fin), la segunda noche no funciono el aire acondicionado y me tuvieron q cambiar de cuarto. El personal es amable pero las condiciones del hotel están en su contra.

The only dissatisfaction was that the room smelled like mold. The mold smell caused me to have an allergic reaction. My eyes became watery, swollen, itchy and I was continually sneezing. It’s a shame because everyone was incredibly nice. However causing me to get ill on a trip is not what I expected. This hotel needs to be inspected more carefully so that the guests don’t become sick
Verified traveler (6/5): Just don’t eat there. - First the good: the beds are great! The hotel is comfortable, looks good. The restaurant is another issue. There were 4 of us and we ordered basic breakfast items. The food took forever to get served, over half and hour and, by the time it got to us, it was cold, and over cooked. One person in our party found her breakfast inedible and when we complained, they half apologized and didn’t even take the charge of the one dish off our bill. Basically, stay there if you don’t plan to eat there. Also, careful around the pool in the morning as the floor is excessively wet and slippery and lots of cleaning carts and stuff in the way. (Not necessarily being used)

I was hungry. I asked for a Swedish massage at the spa which I didn’t get, to be honest I don’t know what I got but it was twice as long and twice as expensive. I really didn’t have that much time to spare.

The guy at the cafeteria was friendly but needs to work on his skills to made a cappuccino. Also they sell some conchas cupcakes and it’s old, hard, impossible to eat them.
Ana (8/5): - I have mixed feelings about my stay here. It was a great deal and right next door to omg cafe (highly recommend!!). Not too far from paseo montejo and we did uber mostly everywhere at a very affordable price around the city (most trips where about $1 usd). The staff was really nice! However, each time we would come back to our room we would have to immediately go in and try to swat at any mosquitoes that would come in. Wifi is not reliable and in my opinion slow. Most of the time I couldn’t connect or would be kicked off. I also do not recommend the tours/excursion given by the hotel. We only did one (to Chichen Itza and a cenote), the excursion started a lot later (than our other excursions we purchased elsewhere) and were given about an hour or less at each cite. Considering the price we paid, beverages and tickets to attractions were not included. The guide was only with us, maybe 20-30 minutes at chichen itza (for maybe 2-3 building sites) and then told us we where on our own to explore the rest of buildings (and gave us maybe 30-45 minutes to explore on our own before we had to leave. I recommend purchasing elsewhere such as tripadvisor. Overall would I come again? I’d say yes, if i couldn’t get a interior room with better wifi at the a similar price elsewhere.

Verified traveler (6/5): - Cleanliness was great and amenities. I booked a bedroom with 2 queen size for my dad and I. When we arrived we got a room that the card didn’t work and after going back to the lobby to get it reactivated, the lights would not come on. The room was a king size bed, which I did not booked, so it was another trip to the lobby. They told us to wait about 15 mins to get the right one in order which wasn’t too much of a big deal. We ended up only having to use 1 night of the 2 nights booked and just queried about any possible refund, the staff didn’t know too much about the cancellation policy and told us to check it online. Other than that, nice hotel! Also the staff needs to be properly groomed, for the gents, they need and ironing board.

They forgot to clean our room the first day and didn’t clean it until 5pm the next day after we arrived back from a day of touristing. Breakfast was ok. Not enough room in the onsite parking lot so we had to park down the street. Never seemed to be anyone working in the coffee shop so we went to one down the street. Some of the staff were super nice, friendly and helpful. We ordered room service for dinner which was pretty good. The pool is nice although a little chilly, we probably should have gone earlier today in the day when it’s hot out. It was also no clear what the difference between the types of rooms when we booked, but when we arrived it was clear that the more expensive ones have a pool view (vs view of a wall) which would have been worth the extra money
