• Verified traveler (2/5): Bad - Terrible hotel, very dirty. Room slightly cold. Cup and spoon for tea and coffee was dirty. No towels on arrival but were supplied afterwards.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Actual picture of horizon - Hi, I’ve faced the worst ever experience in my entire life while staying here. I booked the room before 3 hours of arrival. It was very difficult to find the location. There was no sign or anything outside. Not even door number. I reached there and they didn’t let me in even after i show all my booking details and id. I stayed outside in cold for almost 1 hour for them to verify my booking. Even after i showed my booking they were very rude to us. They told us they cant let me in and give room. Then after i got the help from hotels.com assistance i got a chance to let inside. I don’t know whether after all these issues they gave me the worst room to me. Right after seeing the room i left the property. Let this not happen to anyone again Thanks
• Sandrine (4/5): No value for money - Reception staff was friendly and helpful. The room was disappointing- no heating (it was 10 degrees outside) and no extra blanket in the room, the bedside lamps didn't work and there was only a few coat hangers on a rail to store clothes. On the plus side, the reception staff gave me an electronic heater after i complained and the view on the pier was suberb. Disappointing for the price!!

Other guests were really noisy but as no staff so couldn't get help with the noise still going on at 3am. Room smelt of smoke and not very clean. Mold on the walls in the bathroom. Comfortable mattress but awful pillows. Awful WiFi. Wouldn't stay here agaun

• Lydia (4/5): - It was the cheapest option that’s why we chose it. It was grim, there was barely any toilet roll for us and nobody at reception to ask for more. Really dirty and mouldy bathroom, with the sink in the bedroom which was odd. Window wouldn’t shut so room was freezing, had to lay towels over the duvet to try and warm up. Tv didn’t work. Hallways stunk of weed which seeped into the room. Also they wanted to charge £25 if you arrive after 8:30pm which is insane! That was half the price of the room. Just do yourself a favour and don’t stay here lol

• Daniel (2/5): Avoid! - Disgrace of a hotel. Will not go back, bathroom had mould in the shower windows broken & boarded up with wood. The pictures on the advertisement is not what you get they look like were taken from a different hotel. Rooms smelt of smoke. Gaps in walls & doors which made it very cold at night. Over our 3 night stay no house keeping was done to empty bins fresh towels etc. Room was very dirty & staff didn’t really care.
• Tanya (2/5): - The property was terrible. The room did not look like any of the pictures. Upon arrival, there was a pile of dirty towels and laundry in my room, and i had no clean towels or toilet roll. The bathroom stank and had mould. After discussing with the receptionist, they took the dirty laundry and gave me a fresh towel, but no toilet roll. The cups, kettle and teaspoons were also dirty. There was no heating, and the window would not fully close, so was very could. Also, the duvet was very thin. The hallways were very thin and most of the flooring/stairs/doors were very creaky. The walls were very thin and i could consistently hear people throughout the nights. The room was not cleaned at all during my 3 night stay. I was charged to leave my luggage for a few hours on the day of check out. Location and wifi were decent.

• Lydia (6/5): Wouldn’t bother again - Room was the cheapest option around that wasn’t a hostel so we went for it, but was still expensive for what it was. £115 for one night but the room was really run down. It’s opposite a park too which is loud at night as it seems groups of men sit drinking on the benches. Ceiling was wallpapered which was odd. The toilet seat was too small for the bowl and wasn’t fastened on properly which wasn’t great. Chairs were really stained. Walls had stickers from previous guests clothing. Hallway was really loud when wind blew or other guests shut their doors (would make your door rattle). Parking around there is an absolute nightmare too

• Verified traveler (8/5): Value for money. - I booked a double bedroom for a night at Hotel Horizon because I had an early hospital appointment (7.15am) at the Brighton County Hospital. The hotel is only 8 mins on foot to the pier and 8 mins to the town centre. I made sure I checked in within the 3pm to 8pm window and it went very smoothly. The receptionist was extremely pleasant and helpful. I was given information how to get back into the hotel after the checkin window and how to get to the hospital on foot and how much time I should allow myself to get there with plenty of time to spare. I could not asked for a more comfortable stay at the price I paid at the height of Summer in Brighton. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There’s even a lovely beach view where the pier was visible from the room. There was plenty of coffees and teas as well as a couple of packets of biscuits which were most welcome. It’s also fact the the interior of the hotel, like carpet and woodwork are desperately in need of an overhaul. Overall, a pleasant stay.
• Josie (10/5): Amazing stay - Stayed here with my sister for pride weekend it’s definitely more of a place to put your head down but it’s exactly as advertised. It’s a amazing location right by the beach and pier so was easy to get to everything!! The room was nice, bed was comfortable the en-suite is small but you can use it. You have a kettle and a tv in the room. I’d definitely stay again
• Verified traveler (4/5): Wouldn't recommend - This hotel needs to be closed and completely refurbished and deep cleaned before allowing any new visitors. The room was very basic and the beds uncomfortable for even one nights sleep for the price paid with the bathroom minute and not very clean. Would not recommend or stay again.
• Jamie (6/5): Okay - I found excrement on the toilet roll after we first checked in. There are a lot of stairs and no lifts. Also there were festivals not far away on beach until late at night. The water in the shower was barely warm on the highest setting although there had just been a heatwave. The good point was that it was cheaper than other places that were close to the beach.

• Diksha (2/5): - The staff were kind and polite. However, the property inside is darker and more shabby than harry potter's closet. Old carpet, very old bathroom. Some left-over body wash in the room. Worst of all, the shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold. I realised that at 10pm in the night. I did mention it to the staff in the morning and asked for a refund. The receptionist assured he would escalate to the manager and let me know.
• Joanna (4/5): Dissapointing and too expensive for what it was. - The room wasnt clean. Thick dust on the headboard and in corners of the room. Bedside lamp flickered alot. No bath towels. Only one toilet roll. No shower gel in shower despite there being two containers but both were empty. One window didnt open. Asked for a bath towel but didnt get one. Had to dry myself with hand towel after shower. One good thing was the view of the beach and the location of the hotel. Paid £180 for one nights stay which was alot of money for so much to be wrong.

Where hotel is so old you can hear every single movement from upstairs next door, so couldn’t sleep. Also was scaffolding work on front from 9am. Possibly the worst hotel I’ve stayed in all be it still £160 for one night

• Sidhant (8/5): Decent hotel for its price can’t expect too much - The stay was decent, however one thing was weird the reception opens at 3pm. When we reached at 1 pm and it was still closed. We just wanted to keep our luggage and roam around the city. Otherwise the rooms were decent. The hotel has construction going on which makes the view difficult to watch as I had a sea facing view.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Overnight in Brighton - Thanks to my reward night from hotels.com,this stay thankfully only cost £23. Great seaside location just by central pier with a small park at the front. The hotel is clad in scaffolding at the moment but it didn't really spoil our view. The rooms need some TLC, a bit scruffy but clean enough. Comfy twin beds but rock hard pillows. We were on a budget and the Horizon fitted the bill

• Alex (8/5): Generally OK with some minor reservations. - The hotel room was warm and cosy although at the back of the hotel with a wonderful view of the scaffolding. There were a couple of minor faults, the bedside shelf on one side was falling off the wall and one bedside light wouldn't work. I wasn't expecting really great things but it was clean and tidy and recently decorated. Room 47 by the way. The only thing that would stop me from booking here again was the lack of any breakfast service. It was a PITA to have to walk up to the shops for the local café. For me a hotel is a place to start and end the day. It doesn't need fantastic facilities but breakfast is for me, is a required facility. AND this was not made clear on the booking pages. I certainly didn't see anything about no breakfast available on Hotels.com and it should have been highlighted even though it is a negative point. It is just that important. There was tea and coffee and a kettle in the room and I was able to make use of that to start and finish the day. generally OK with some minor reservations.

• Janet (8/5): Wow what a comfy bed. - The hotel is obviously having remedial work probably painting as scaffolding up. Our room was basic but clean . The plus point of our stay was the comfiest bed ever and a brilliant night sleep which is the only thing we are on our room for so well done. The young lady on reception on arrival was pleasant and helpful too. If you want 5 star luxury this hotel probably isn’t for you but if you want a clean very comfy bed to use as a base as we did it is just right. We will stay again in same room.

The service on arrival was adequate clearly a family run business with the mum more focused on what they were doing than welcoming new customers. The hotel it’s self was nice a little small. Very quiet but in a great location. Was good priced but a standard hotel.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Clean, comfy but overpriced for a 2 star - Far too expensive, £200 for a single night stay with no breakfast so expected maybe a bit more but knew it was 2 star, summer holidays so premium pricing and everything else much more expensive. Supply and demand- we could only do this day and that’s what was available so buyer beware. Would stay again but would pay no more than £120 for room even in peak. Friendly staff, comfy bed, clean room and bathroom, good shower. Teabags, milk and biscuits welcome for 4 cuppas we had. Unable to securely close window which was apparently new, though looked rotten. Could have asked to move but was running late so we chanced leaving it when we went out as scaffold climbable up to window- turned out fine thankfully. Shower cubicle too small. Sink too small to comfortably clean teeth/wash, spill water on floor easily. Appreciate these B&Bs space is at a premium inside, so they have probably done a good job with what they have got to work with based on age and layout of property. Woken by drunken people outside window chatting loudly from 3am-3.40am and people in room above with a crazy 7am noisy shower on a Sunday. Typical of a night in a Brighton B&B. Have stayed in much worse in Brighton, clean, comfy but overpriced at £200 for one night as a two-star hotel. Recommended if price is right, good location for beach, pier, lanes and comedy club on front, great breakfast at cafe at top of road, nice staff.
• Marian (2/5): NIGHTMARE HOSTEL - Should not be classed as hotel, its, a hostel, stinks of weed, asked for iron, got given iron, plugged in switched on and all the water went over my dress, overall very very disappointed, how they can charge the prices they is is just unbelievable,

I arrived at 8pm feeling exhausted from a hard day's physical work. All I wanted was to eat something and go to sleep. I was too tired for a shower/bath

• Verified traveler (2/5): - Upon arrival, no WIFI except for the rooms, was advised I may get WIFI as my room was above reception. No TV, wanted a quite night in before the long the following day and no TV reception at all. No cold water, apart from the small sink. Could not even fill the kettle and had to 'shower' from the sink as the water was so hot. Used my ebookers points for this and felt very cheated. Not worth what I paid and certainly not the full price advertised.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap but old and tired - On a normal day if its cheap you get what you pay for, but it was dirty, old and would not stay again especially for £132 per night on new years eve that was well overpriced and taking advantage. Bed was comfortable howver and initial service friendly.

• Verified traveler (6/5): A bit disappointing at the price - Fantastic location near Brighton sea front. This hotel, to me was over priced. OK, I knew I had no view so that's fine. In the room there were only two milk capsules for three tea bags!. The electrical socket was unusable so have to unplug TV to use kettle. No light after switching light off at other end of room. Bathroom had cracked floor tiles (that hurt when found in the dark!). Noise within the hotel at all hours was quite noticeable. Some guests were very noisy as they came and went. The gutter outside window by headboard is broken, so constant dripping. I have paid less than half this price at other hotels to have no problems at all. Staff were pleasant. Didn't stay for breakfast.
• James (2/5): Shocking - Arrived to find parking a nightmare, I know this is not related to the hotel but it just started the day off as a negative. Ended up parking 4 miles away and having to get a taxi in. Where to start with the room......The room smelt like a drain, the shower did not work well and just trickled over your head and then the water did not drain away so the shower tray was full of water. The room was dirty, dust all around the edges, old crisps on the floor and on a shelf. The floor boards had given way under the carpet to which I actually twisted my ankle on. Have to say the cleanliness was terrible, happy we didn’t book breakfast because I wouldn’t have eaten there!!! Several other things.... the door to the bathroom was on backwards so when inside was a pain to shut as there was no handle. There was a phone socket with the cables hanging out and no cover over. The list could go on, not at all happy

Red tap cold, blue tap hot in sink. Bedside lamp not working. Picture stuck at 45 degree angle. Stairs and passages dirty. Only staffed half the day. Breakfast not included so not at all cheap but wouldn't have chanced eating there anyway. Take this place off your lists.

Really disappointed to find several blood stains and on underside of sheets and clear smell of aftershave - no doubt from previous guest. Neither nice to sleep in. Understand this is a budget hotel but would expect clean sheets. We did leave a note morning - no reception till 3pm - and in bedroom and emailed photo of the blood stains. We have had no response.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Like a low rent motel you see in the movies! - As most things in life are subjective and formed by personal opinion, I generally don’t like to give a bad review, opting instead to either say nothing or draw upon the positives of a negative situation. Consequently I’ll go for the latter here by saying this hotel has helped me in staying out of trouble with the law; I’ve never been to jail but imagine the room I stayed in probably isn’t too far off what a prison cell is like perhaps, with its damp patches, worn walls, scruffs, grotty decor and bedding that had a unique hybrid aroma of musky stale sweat infested deep fat fried food. Don’t get me wrong because I’m not saying this is all bad, as the room and nonchalant staff made me feel like an undiscovered bohemian poet (which is a cool thing right?), suffering for his art in his dire abode, a place akin to those dodgy motel rooms you see in the movies, frequented by cheap hookers and low rent criminals (sadly there’s no flashing neon sign outside the room’s window to complete this imagery, just the crashing and bashing coming from the basement of the property where the breakfast is presumably made, accounting for part of the aforementioned smell). So taking the good from my stay at Horizon B & B, I learnt to keep my nose clean by staying out of trouble so as to never go to jail again, and what it feels like to be an artist existing in a low budget B-movie, which all adds to life’s intriguing journey of experiences.

• Juned (8/5): Is good im happy - Its was good staff was very nice and helpfull but room was hot inside yes thay give us fan still we cant sleep..overlall alright...
• Emma (4/5): Only if you are desperate - Pros: good location close to the beach. Linen & towels clean & room was as clean as could be given the amount of maintenance work required. Beds were comfortable & it was quiet. Cons: needs work & maintenance ++ plaster falling off the wall, tiles cracked & falling off the shower, rotting wood around shower & door frame. Windows did not open but were not completely shut either. Had to step over kettle catching water dripping from ceiling on way in.

• Tally (6/5): - You get what you pay for. It was a comfy bed in a character filled Brighton BnB. It’s not fancy or super clean. It did the job for a room for the night.
• Ashley (8/5): Great location with a view! - It was so close to literally everything we wanted to see! We were able to drop our luggage off early which helped a lot and the beds were so comfy! Just be careful when you have bigger luggage! There are stairs and they’re kind of narrow but we loved staying here!
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Like: Location - near seafront and lively residential area. Price - very cheap for location. Staff- helpful and friendly. Dislike: Window in room wouldn't open. Balcony broken.
