• Ewa (8/5): - This hotel is huge! Set up for large tour groups and run efficiently for that but it’s good to be aware in advance as an individual traveler gets a bit lost. The rooms are nice and beds comfortable. The pool area with the bar is great. Nice breakfast too. The major drawback of this place is that it’s far from the village and its many dining options.

The grounds and pool area were very clean, well kept, with excellent staff. We would definitely return. My only recommendation is the hallways could use a makeover. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel. We were treated like royalty at the Amalia.

Das Personal ist höchst zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich. Unser Zimmer war geräumig und sauber. Wir hatten in unserer Buchung auch das Frühstück inbegriffen, welches zwar nicht variierte, aber eine große Auswahl hatte.

Nécessité d'être motorisé car l'hôtel est situé à 4 kms de Kalambaka. Parking vaste devant l'hôtel. Une très belle adresse pour visiter les monastères perchés !

However, the experience at the hotel was perfect. Very nice and helpful stuff. Great choices for buffet dinner and breakfast (half board). Nice swimming pool (we could not enjoy due to poor weather). Easy parking. Great room. All looks very clean.

• Joanna (6/5): Not what I expected! - The carpet in the room was old and dirty. The air conditioning smelled musty and the room was damp. The bathroom was renovated and that was nice but I seriously would never stay here again.

• Herwig (8/5): Amalia lives up to the expectations - Nice vintage hotel, conveniently situated between Trikala and Kalambaka. Very friendly helpful staff. Rooms are a bit outdated, but clean and have good airco. Also very calm silent environment. One small negative point concerning the restaurant: every evening the exact same buffet choice is given. This might be OK for a one night stay, however some variations could be considered for those guests staying multiple nights.

• tiziana (10/5): Top - Soggiorno di una notte per visitare le Meteore e visto il caldo abbiamo deciso di soggiornare al hotel Amalia per poter usare la piscina nel pomeriggio. Mai scelta fu più azzeccata, l hotel si trova a 5 km. da Kalambaka, ma la piscina è splendida, il personale gentilissimo, la colazione ottima sia salato che dolce e le camere hanno la moquette stile anni 80, ma sono pulitissime come il resto del hotel. Da tornare.

Breakfast is good but, as far as I'm concerned, not good enough for a 4 star hotel. I would go back there and I would recommend the hotel to friends.

• Kathryn (8/5): A few bumps but nice - Check in went well for the most part. They gave us a room the first time that was not big enough and didn't match our reservation. They did upgrade us to a family room because the room type we booked were all taken. Other then that things went fairly well. The elevator they have is small and slow so we just took our bags up the stairs to the third floor. We only had carryon bags.

• JR678 (8/5): - Nice hotel 8 min drive from the town. Good size room. Beautiful pool. Very friendly staff. Good water pressure. I asked for a quiet room. They gave me a choice of rooms and I chose the top (3rd) floor. Unfortunately there were a group of kids staying on the first floor. Sound proofing is not good in the hotel and I could hear the kids partying until late. I called the front desk and they took care of the issue as best as they could. I would stay again for sure, but always ask for a quiet room. They will guide you to the best option.
• Stephanie (10/5): No question - I’d definitely stay here again. - I loved this hotel. Extremely affordable, clean, the place was well taken care of and staff were exceptionally friendly. There is no escaping the “tourism” anywhere near Meteora so no matter where you stay, everyone is coming for a day or two to hit the Monasteries. That being said, this was a mile or so away from the center and had a refreshingly “remote” feel to it. A gorgeous big pool, tasty buffets for breakfast and dinner. Relaxed and unhurried and beautiful things in the gift shop. It was hard to leave this place.

The location is isolated, if you have no car then it will be very difficult to stay here. • Brad (6/5): - Of the 3 Amalia hotels we stayed at... this was better than Olympia, but worse that Nafplio. They clearly only cater to large bus tours, and make no accommodation for individuals or small groups. We were actually told not to go to breakfast until after 9am... and sure enough, they had every single table reserved for tour groups. I had to have a little discussion with one of the employees for him to open up one of the tables. Rooms were also a bit disappointing. Wouldn't go back to this one unless every other place was sold out.

But if you do have a car, it has plenty of parking and only 5-10 minutes drive to town. Rooms and bathroom are not modern but are spacious, clean, and have all required amenities. • Emily (10/5): Great location, great pool! - The hotel was really nice, especially the pool. The proximity to the monasteries at Meteora was great (a quick drive to the top). What was even better for our young family was a very nice pool to relax in after a hot day of walking. Our 9 month old son had a great time, and we enjoyed a few beers poolside. I would definitely recommend staying here.
• Thomas (8/5): Nice hotel with helpful staff. - The hotel is one of the best in the area yet could use updating and the beds could be more comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was nice but a bit chilly. The breakfast was decent and had a good selection. Its not gourmet by any means but a good breakfast. The check in and check out went smoothly despite their antiquated computer system. If you want to go into the town you need a car or other transportation as it is not a close walk and the town is nice to walk around and good eateries.

By far the best hotel we stayed in during our visit to Greece. The breakfast that was included was also amazing.

The staff are friendly and very helpful from check-in, to the wait staff at breakfast and right through the whole stay. The hotel is well located has fantastic views of the Meteora, rooms are clean and very comfortable.

• Solo Traveler (8/5): Quiet Hotel in Kalambaka - I traveled solo to Meteora and chose Amalia Hotel knowing its located at the edge of city limits. However, I was drawn to its offer of a quiet and clean atmosphere. The fact that the Hotel is located a little ways outside of the city center did turn out to be a bit inconvenient and costly (10 euro taxi each way) if you want to wander yourself but if you are going to book tours daily, then it doesn't matter much. Pro: Quiet, large hotel that offers a good spread for its free breakfast and food made to order other times. The pool area was nice and the hotel surroundings was very peaceful. The staff was very attentive, friendly and will help with pretty much any request you may have. The rooms are large and clean. Wifi is available and strong in the main common areas. Con: The hotel is about a 5-7 min drive outside the main part of Kalambaka city. The hotel doesn't offer any transportation to and from the city center so there are really just two options: by taxi (10 euro) or by bus (1.80 euro). The bus, however, drops you off on the main road, so it's another 5-7min walk down the side road to get to the hotel. There are no sidewalks but there aren't many cars either, so it's OK to walk as an adult but not for kids. Another way to get around this is to book a tour, which usu. offers to pick you up and drop off in the city or back at the hotel. The room amenities are bare bones, so bring your own coffee/tea. • Verified traveler (10/5): Great family hotel - Stayed here for our visit to Meteora, the hotel is great for family with kid as there is plenty of space for them to roam around, and the hotel also got playroom for kids! Location is not exactly in Kalambaka so better for someone with car or prepared to hire taxi.

The location is quite far (around 5km) from Kalambaka train station and city center. If you don't drive, you need to arrange taxi in advance. However, this could be a good thing as the hotel is more quite and safe.
• Didier (6/5): Ok hotel for a night around Kalambaka - The hotel is of good standard although a bit dated. It is not too close to the meteors but it is still accessible however apart from the main road there is little to nothing around the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and well kept but as said previously quite dated. Swimming pool and breakfast were good. Overall huge hotel for its purpose, doesn't really feel welcoming on this aspect.
